Harris and Hool @ Tesco Cheshunt Extra. Service with a smile, large Coffee looked and smelt great. A little bitter for my taste, certainly keeping me alert. Nice atmosphere while waiting for my wife to Shop. WiFi excellent. Wed morning and the area is quite busy. Most people seem to be buying mainly drinks even though there is an array of prepared quick food on offer. In these Covid times all table are distanced, and masks are worn until you are seated. For me the only downer was the cost per amount of liquid, Coffees seems smaller and I would consider spending less for more else ware, but then I am a gannet and this was convenient.

Coffee shop’s located on mezzanine floor at back of store. Car park was busy but hardly anyone visiting cafe - not sure why but prices are steeper than Tesco run cafes. However, the plus was plenty of seating! Staff really friendly - just a shame they weren’t spending time clearing tables. Ordered a pot of Darjeeling and surprised to find it was a tea bag and not loose - checked receipt afterwards and it actually states “loose tea” (see pic), so not sure what was actually served (my fault as should have checked and queried at the time). Noticed there’s a small lending library and books suitable for reading to toddlers.

Great cafe inside Tesco’s - healthy choices and traditional favourites, with cup to bean coffee. Very friendly staff, quick service and helpful - I had a sausage bap and asked for English mustard which was provided without problem. Coffee was great too - I drink it balk without sugar so there is no disguising any bitterness, but there was none. If you arrive early for a business meeting in the area, as I did, I totally recommend it.

There are so many coffee shops in Aylesbury but they mostly serve the coffee burnt, bitter or too hot to drink. Harris & Hoole do the best lattes. They get the froth nice and creamy and it's a really nice flavour. The coffee never tastes burnt and the staff always have a kind word even when rushed off their feet. Wish they would open a branch in town.

Very rarely shop in Buckingham as Banbury nearer but this week, and for a change decided to take elderly in-laws out for a ride and lunch then shopping at Tesco. I mention "elderly in-laws as in their 90's" as if we were on our own ,we would have gone back into the town center where we know there are lovely little cafes.In-laws sat down whilst we queued [as there is only ONE person serving] for approx 7 minutes behind about 4/5 people to be then charged £5 for a toasted sandwich each and cold bitter coffee in a small cup.Dont think they can last long here as reputation will proceed them as they are trying to maximise profit with just 2 staff. Many frustrated people in the place and really not good value and doesnt reflect what we think of when thinking of Tesco.Lastly,we noticed their choice of "un-toastable" sandwiches [at circa £3-85 each] were in a cardboard box, then had a plastic insert diving the sandwiches..........NOT RECYCLABLE as just binned !!

I work with a young person with a severe learning difficulty, we visit regularly and always have lunch and a drink chosen from H&H. On this particular visit, he couldn't find anything he liked in H&H so chose a sandwich from tesco and a drink from H&H and I chose a lunch from H&H and a drink too. They weren't busy. I first asked the manger with short red hair if we could pay separately, she turned her back on me to do something behind her. We were the only people in the que and loads of staff. No eye contact. No smile. She then saw the sandwich and very abruptly said you can't eat that here, No conversation. I said well we'll have to leave the drinks and lunch then and she very sarcastically said 'thank you'. The young person had to eat a sandwich in the car. Perhaps they do have an inflexible policy around not eating other food in the coffee shop that isn't inclusive of people with a learning difficulty, babies or children. The way this message was delivered was very rude. I haven't come across this in other coffee shops such as Costa in Aylesbury Tesco who are much more relaxed and friendly, will stick to there in future.

We have been coming here once a month since it opened and found the service, coffee and food to be satisfactory in the past. The main problem we have is that it doesn't open until 8am which for most people is way to late for their coffee fix! By 7.50 there's usually a small queue..... However on today's visit one of our cappuccino's had barely any froth on top. I complained and they sent it back saying that it had the recommended amount of froth of 1.5cm on top. I then took both our cappuccinos back up so that they could compare them as one clearly had froth on top and the other was just warm milk!It wasn't until I said that we won't be coming back that they then decided to replace the one with no froth on but still claiming that there was nothing wrong with it, saying that we would need to ask for a 'dry cappuccino' in the future. We love our coffee and drink in most of the large chain coffee shops and rarely have a problem like this. Oh Tesco why did you have to replace the cafe with these self proclaimed 'coffee perfectionist'.I think most people would have preferred a Costa over a Harris and Hoole as at least we would get high quality coffee albeit in a slightly less posh cup!

I have just visited here with my 2 year old son , to get him something to eat before I did some shopping . I spent £9.35 on a tea, kids drink, sausage roll and a scone so not cheap . We sat at a table that had wooden bench seating so he was able to reach the table nicely and eat his food . He sat quietly and ate his sausage roll. Nearing the end of time sitting there he started to swing his feet and realised that the wood under the seat made a great noise when the back of his trainers hit it ,as you would expect any youngster to do so . He did it a few times , before a lady who worked there came over and very rudely said " can you stop him doing that it's echoing down there" . I as a parent had no intention of letting him carry on doing that as I know it's not appropriate . My issue is the fact that she was over very quick complaining when I had spent money and my son had been very well behaved. I have to say the other 2 ladies who served me were polite this other older dark haired woman was the one who was rude. I'm guessing she was the manager or something. Ultimately this is a coffee shop in a tescos supermarket.

Started coming to this place recently. Food is good actually. Problem with poor service from one lady who told me in a rude manner she'd seen me before ordering takeaway but eating in, and that today I need to understand that 'takeaway is takeaway'. Bit of back and forth with her when I objected to the way this interaction occurred, which in itself was unacceptable. Yes indeed I did drink half of my soup there the 3rd time I visited, before heading back to work, as I hadn't eaten all day. This is not an excuse though. While I am a 'foreigner' there are nicer ways to remind customers about British laws that still leave customers with an element of dignity, and not arguing with them in front of people. Now I hope this lady doesn't get in big trouble, we are all humans and she might have a family to look after etc. Maybe she was just having a bad day? What I'm saying is that I would be rather disappointed if Harris and Hoole took any kind of disciplinary action as a result of this review. Unless of course this is the last straw in a number of incidents. Even then I much prefer organisations invest in people, perhaps with a training course, as opposed to being punitive. All I am saying is that if this organisation wishes to position itself as a mid-market coffee shop (despite being situated in a Tesco) then these kinds of incidents are just not worth it. How many times have I had a sip or two of my takeway coffee in Starbucks before heading to the office, without any backlash? Anyways I hope this lady has a good day and you never know she might learn from this and have a great career and I genuinely wish her all the best. However it is highly unlikely that, despite the decent food, I will ever do business here again.

Quite simply, this place serve the best coffee I can ever remember having. That sounds like a bold claim. Let's be clear I'm not a connoisseur, I'm fairly average in my coffee tastes and the high street chains I visit to get my coffee. However, this was a cut above. The other thing that impressed me was the knowledge of the guy serving me, both about the company and about how they go about getting the best out of their coffee. They roast their own coffee of course, but it was the details about the specifics that impressed me. Apparently the optimum temperature to get milk at it's sweetest is 60 degrees C - beyond that it begins to sour. Who knew? Obviously they do. Also - up on a board is a 'recipe' for that day's coffee. e.g. 18g of coffee, 20 Oz in the cup etc...When we first arrived, I couldn't figure it out. My wife wanted a cheese and ham toasty and it took me a few minutes to figure out the equivalent here was a prosciutto and mozzarella focacia!Bear in mind this place occupies the restaurant space in a bog-standard Tesco's on the outskirts of Buckingham. So adjusting to the somewhat London-esque environs took a few minutes. However, the food was lovely, my 3 year old ate well, and we had a lovely time. My wife went off to do a bit of shopping and myself, my son and my one year old happily played a game of mimicking each other.I know that this visit was 'of a moment' and if I tried it wouldn't be repeated in the same way. However, I can still imagine the taste of that gorgeous latte. And I know that if I lived in Buckingham I would be regularly shopping at Tesco (a minority shareholder apparently) just so I could pick up a cheeky take out the way through.

It was not busy as was Sunday morning and there three staff on hand to serve. An average coffee but expensive and really thought the layout was a bit like a canteen. I don't think the cost charged for the coffee, matched the rather poor interior - small cup, large price, tired interior comes to hand. Not a place I would rush back to.

In their wisdom, Tesco closed the serve yourself restaurant in their Buckingham store. You could get a cooked English breakfast for about £3.00. They replaced the restaurant with Harris and Hoole, a brand of coffee shop. H&H have introduced the 'Handcrafted sausage roll' at £3.00 each, the BBQ chicken roll at £4.95 each, Proscuitto & Mozarella flatbread - £4.90 each and a 'Post cheese toastie' at £3.00 each. Did you know a toastie could be posh?Interesting that Tesco want to be associated with terms like 'handcrafted' and 'posh'. All their customers ever wanted was a cheap breakfast. This is symptomatic of Tesco's current problems - caught between Up and Down market.Harris and Hoole sell average fresh coffee (not as good as Caffe Nero, better than Starbucks - but that's not difficult). If they started serving fried egg, bacon, beans, mushrooms and toast for £3.00 I would go back. But I guess it would be a hand-reared chicken's egg, organic bacon, fair trade beans and hand-composted shitake mushrooms. All that branding and name claptrap comes expensive.Come on Tesco and Harris and Hoole. Give us budget priced food please.

Visited today for an end of school holiday treat after shopping at Tesco Buckingham with children. There is a big sign saying they serve coffee only warm to ensure better flavour, but to ask for it to be served hotter if that is what you prefer. I asked for an extra hot filter coffee, but was told by The female server who didn't smile, or seem happy in her job, that she could heat the cup as the filter coffee was already heated and was at a set temperature, when she served it, it came from a vacuum pump type flask, standing on the back of the counter, on tasting, it did tasted like it had been brewed first thing this morning and now it is 4.30pm it really didn't taste good, infact almost sour tasting! Thought it may have been the hot milk, but tasted that and it was fine, so definitely the coffee, really wasn't pleasant at all! I would have thought for the price they charged it would have been freshly prepared and not long over stewed unpleasant drink. My son's cup of tea fared better and he was happy with that. The young man serving the teas and coffees was pleasant, but was wearing some type of black thick knitted woolly hat, which really didn't seem suitable attire for a catering establishment, I would expect white or something similar to a chef type hat to keep hair off face, didn't seem very hygienic, maybe he had just turned up for work and had forgotten to remove it. The choice of childrens food was very limited, no hot food available, just a selection of sandwiches, wraps and cakes, which was disappointing. The old style Tesco cafe had far greater choice of hot and cold foods, much preferred it, the prices at new style Harris and Hoole are much more expensive and in our opinion really not worth it, We shall be going home in future for freshly brewed proper filter coffee.

Well it was News Years Eve, so maybe not typical. The coffee was excellent, but the food only average and fully priced for what it was. Service was quite charmless; a disappointment in the light of previous reviews. It was interesting that though Tesco was heaving with people, the cafe was almost empty (another reason to expect better service) which suggests that it has not reallyfilled customer needs. For a family there was little sense of children being welcome; the kids menu is short of choice and unimaginative, and a feeling of it all being too much trouble.

This cafe is part of the great Tesco refurbishment where Harris and Hoole replaced the previous Tesco cafe. Now we used to frequent its predecessor where you could buy a coffee or have a breakfast or a meal at reasonable prices, but one look at the prices in this establishment put us off straight away.£1.70 for a small glass bottle of coca cola or £2.30 for a coffee makes it a place strictly for those who have money to burn. They also have some items for sale and one coffee filter was costing £15.....which can be bought elsewhere for £5. I can't remember the prices of some of the food on offer but it was far too much for what you are actually getting. Considering how much it costs to actually make a cup of coffee ( 20p ? ), makes it absolutely ridiculous to charge so much. We drink only filtered coffee at home so its not expensive to make per cup, but even with taking in wages etc the fashionable marketing of a cup of coffee has went way OTT.Tesco obviously want to attract the "Hooray Henry" crowd.....to the exclusion of the likes of ourselves......well done Tesco. As the title says, it looks good but there never seem to be too many people using it.....and that's not surprising given the prices. All in all I think Tesco have shot themselves in the foot with whoever came up with this idea.
