Called in for a late lunch and opted for braised beef. Was served with veg and mash, (chips and roasts available). Huge portion, piping hot, and best gravy I've tasted. Looking at other diner's meals, I'd definitely recommend.

Thought would try this for a quick weekend breakfast given all of the high ratings in Google reviews. Honestly… I just don’t get why this place is highly rated. If you like a very typical seaside ‘greasy spoon’ style cafe, then this is the place. We did nearly leave after taking our seat but gave it the benefit of the doubt. Staff were very pleasant and chatty with customers. The cafe itself is very dated/old fashioned and grubby. The food we could see is cooked in large old pans and what appears to be mostly in oil, even the mushrooms were deep dipped. Cheap and cheerful but far from good quality, we were both unwell later that day and the next. Really sorry and had hoped to be kinder and reviewed more positively.

We went for breakfast and was given a menu, we looked and everything was so cheap! We both got an English breakfast at £5, my granddaughter was given the option of a soft drink instead of tea or coffee. The food didn't take long and it was AMAZING! The customer service was top notch, very friendly and kind. Would 100% recommend.

Lovely small old fashioned restaurant with good old fashioned customer service. The food is very tasty, plentiful and very reasably priced. I had a beef roast and the beef was incredibly tender and there was so much of it! It was all delicious. My partner had the vegetarian curry which he really enjoyed too. Even our drinks were very good.Everything was lovely and hot and we didn't have to wait long at all, the lady who served us was very pleasant and friendly, we will definitely be back.

Really nice to go back to a ‘traditional’ cafe rather than the fancy modern ones that are popping up. We did go a bit later on in the afternoon so shouldn’t have expected everything to be available but there wasn’t much left available that was on the menu. If we’d known before we sat down and tried to order we probably would have gone elsewhere however what we did eventually order was really nice and I’d definitely go back but earlier in the day.

We chose to come to this cafe from great reviews.. Visited 23/03/23 we went for breakfast, and are tourists to the area, and staying at one of the local campsites! Our visit was of 2 adults and 2 children, 2 x full breakfast and 2x sausage, hash brown and beans.. food came and served great, hot and just as requested!! And all for £23 fantastic! ALTHOUGH Half way through our meal a customer (elderly male on own) had enjoyed his breakfast and left the cafe.. a couple of minutes later the staff realised/thought he’d left without paying.. one of the staff members left the cafe and then returned with the elderly gentleman, he seemed confused as to being questioned on the non payment and proceeded to protest his innocence and insist he did pay the £5 owed… This then lead to the gentleman being completely embarrassed as this was not a quiet discussion.. another customer then got involved as he was witness to this customer paying and agreed that the gentlemen had paid! He then even tried to explain the reason as to why there wasn’t a five pound note in the till was because he was given it as his change to which the staff member refused to accept this… her words were that she doesn’t believe that he paid but she’s not falling out over £5, she’s too busy for this and walked off and went back into the kitchen and remained there!… This customer to me seemed as though he is a regular customer and eats at this cafe ‘week in week out’!!! I DO HOPE THAT WHEN YOU CASH UP YOUR TILL TONIGHT AND SEE THAT YOU ARE NOT £5 DOWN FOR THE BREAKFAST YOU INSISTED THIS POOR MAN HADN'T PAID FOR THE NEXT TIME HE VISITS THEN HIS BREAKFAST IS ON YOU!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I do believe that the customer will return as I say I feel he is a regular.. but I and anyone I know will be told to avoid this place like the plague… you definitely need to respect your customer more especially your regular customers!!!!

The fact that this small restaurant was nearly full on a cold winter's day and on a Monday lunch, says a lot! Service was prompt and friendly. The food is homemade, reasonably priced and really tasty. My partner had steak pie, and he pronounced the steak to be as tender as any he'd tasted (with really tasty gravy)! I has sausage and mince which was accompanied by chips done just as I like them and lots of veg served in a separate dish. Again, really tasty and great value! Sadly, we were too full for the homemade desserts..next time? Do give this place a try when in Cleethorpes!

My sister in law and I go out for lunch every Friday. Today, being yet another Friday, we decided to go to Harriets. What a brilliant idea this was!! I had the most amazing, tasty braising steak with gorgeous home made chips and peas. My sister in law had steak pie which, she said, just melted with roast potatoes and beautifully cooked veg. We were too full for a pudding although there were lots of delights on offer. We relaxed with some delicious coffee. The owner gave personal service to her customers and to one elderly lady who needed looking after, she was very caring and considerate and having a bit of fun with her too. The lady left in a taxi (which the staff ordered for her) with the biggest smile on her face. Her visit had obviosly made her day and it was a delight to see. The premises are spotless and the decoration and design is stunning, making the restaurant very comfortable to be in. Can't wait to go again!!

This place is so popular that we considered ourselves lucky to get in for lunch last week while on holiday in the area. Lots of regulars, so that's a good indication. I had a roast pork dinner and my husband had meat pie dinner. Both meals were delicious, beautifully cooked, tender meat and plenty of veg at prices which I think would be difficult to beat. The only thing I think could improve it would be to have some larger tables to accommodate families with children, because it is a bit of squeeze if more than two at a table. We went here a few years ago with 2 children and it was a bit of a balancing act!

We first visited Harriet's a decade or more ago, and recall it being a smart little place comparable to The Larder in Grimsby. Not snooty, but smart and clean with decent food. Over the last few years it has got progressively worse, becoming more and more shabby, unclean and unpleasant to visit. There are one or two Pros, so I'll start with those:Situated in the middle of the High Street, Harriet's is well placed to visit. Price-wise, it is also perfectly reasonable. Now the Cons. The place is in a state of decay, with menus peeling and browning, furniture becoming increasingly rickety and and crockery such as cups and plates turning up on tables with dirty cracks. This latter point is especially galling when you go to take a sip of tea and find your mouth has just come in contact with a filthy crevice in the glazing. How much are cups wholesale? Get new ones, don't give customers disgusting cups and mugs.Staff are fawning all over you one minute being awkwardly pleasant, then the next they are barking at you for asking to be served, complaining about being "rushed off their feet", tripping over you, telling you off for complaining, and being generally bad tempered. Maybe it would help if they got in more staff if they are so incredibly busy? That would certainly be better than being made to feel that you are putting them out by your presence. Tables are routinely left unwiped, so you are sitting with your food amidst previous customers' food debris and spillages. if you dare complain, well, see above. The quality of food is poor, with supposedly "home made pies" arriving looking pale and anaemic and being very much like something you would pick up from a supermarket's No Frills selection. Everything has a reheated and lardy aftertaste, with the vegetables being cheap, soggy and unappetising and the chips often dried out or limp. The coffee is disgusting and, for me, undrinkable. It tastes burnt. All in all, not a pleasant experience.Having persisted with Harriet's for years, we now go elsewhere.

We visited to commemorate my Stepfather’s 80th Birthday after he passed away in 2022. He was born in Cleethorpes and as a child looked through the windows of this hotel with his brother saying that one day they would stay here. They both lived to experience staying here, and it is now our privilege to carry on this tradition. The hotel is beautiful, traditional and spotlessly clean. We dined in the restaurant and found the food and service impeccable. We look forward to returning next year…. And every year after.

My husband and I arrived at 1250 to be greeted with “have you booked?” As passing trade but living local we hadn’t realised you had to book and we were informed by a member of staff that they were really popular so tables get booked quickly but she would take a look. We noticed two tables free both seating 4, one in the corner and one set inbetween two other tables. The member of staff informed us that the corner table we had placed our things on was booked at 1:30 but we could have the one set inbetween the other tables and the one where everyone knocked into when passing. I told her we would be done quickly anyway so not to worry. My latte came and I had drunk it before my cake arrived, my husbands’ Americano was very weak but was hot, his cheesecake was tasty all the same and my Victoria sponge equally tasty. Within 15mins a table of 6 was cleared and made available and the table that we originally had chosen was offered as a “choice of where would you like to sit” to customers who had booked. We have eaten in some lovely places and had coffee in some nice settings but have never felt as uncomfortable or unwelcome before. I would say that if passing trade isn’t welcome then put bookings only on your page would be helpful, so customers who feel It would be lovely to drop by and support a local business don’t.
