Lovely afternoon having lunch at Harpers. I came here 4 years ago with my sister, and returned today with a friend. We had a lovely lunch with fruit punch mocktails and a pina colada, which my friend said was exquisite! We had the king prawns and the tempura prawns for starters. We then had beef burgers and chunky chips for the mains. Really good food and lovely service. Thank you, I'll be back in the near future.

Had a lovely meal the other month today was awful, the food was too quick coming out definitely microwaved so disappointed. If you cannot serve fresh food please don’t bother it’s not cheap to eat out it’s a special time so very disappointing

Like food and like to try new places one to keep an eye out for had a stake and chips yummm was cooked exactly how I liked it and had good flavours and not one ounce if fat or grissle also had the biscoffe cheesecake with ice cream sweet but worth it staff are attentive so had a good meal definitely going to come back

We're very new to the area and thought we'd give Harpers a try. We were incredibly impressed by the food, the lovely atmosphere and the outstanding service. The place was very buzzy and seems like it will be a regular haunt for us. Great stuff Harpers!

Had the prawn tempura , pesto pasta and creme brulee , all food was delicious , really friendly and lovely waiting staff and lovely restaurant , definitely recommend

Went Weds at 530 only one other table Waitress was friendly but on her own. Had the set menu. Starters came out quickly the goat cheese was good. Chicken pesto pasta was horrible. Chicken very dry and overcooked. Pasta tasteless. Pesto disgusting. Waited a long time to get the bill. Understaffed. Not great value for money this time.

Update July 2024 - another nice meal but unfortunately service was pretty slow and not very attentive. Really lovely Sunday Lunch excellent Roast, but full menu also available and nice atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing, this is how to do it. Great food, lovely atmosphere and staff professional and attentive. Why don’t usually enjoy cocktails but these were beautifully presented,tasty and will definitely be having more.

Was disappointed with my visit this time we found the food tasteless, I had hummus to start which has no taste at all,also had calamari that was ok for main I had sea-bass and my husband had fish too very bland food, The drinks were very good it was a thirsty Thursday so drinks were reduced all in all the bill was just over £100 and it was definitely not worth it I won’t be returning.

Food was very good as was the service. Only. problem was on a Sunday lunch it was noisy. Would recommend though.

Met a friend here for dinner and a catch up. The service was very friendly and we were not rushed at all. The food was excellent. We had the Lamb bourguignon and the Liver and Bacon both cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. I did feel the portion sizes could have been a little bigger but other than that a very enjoyable evening.

Well done! Arranged a meal for 18 people on 20th April for a 70th Birthday. Food was excellent, well timed and well presented. Staff were polite, attentive and special thanks to Hannah for her help and attentiveness, she was very professional and helped to ease my anxiety of it all going wrong for the birthday girl. Also special thanks to the gentleman who bravely cut the cake (a daunting task, for such a tall and well decorated cake) you cut it better than we would have done!!!!

Came here for a lovely family meal last week ! The food was great and they have just brought out their new menu (I especially liked the chicken pesto pasta.) The service was amazing, very friendly staff and also great cocktails :)

Me and my husband came here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, food was delicious and the cocktails were divine!! Recommended to all my friends and colleagues, can’t wait to dine here again! 😝

i came here with my girlfriend and the service was really quick and the waitress/waiters were very welcoming and friendly. the food and drinks were really delicious and the wait for the food wasnt long at all. the decorations and atmosphere in there is really nice and they have a good selection of food on their new menu. would highly recommend.

We ordered chips with our meal, when they come the chips was cooked on outside but not in the middle.

I had an amazing experience today at harpers I tired their special today they are serving lamb cutlets and it was just delicious with the rosemary roast potatoes along with a cheeky desert of lemon pie, the waiters service was very good made sure everything was okay with my food and always kept me topped up with drinks will definitely be coming back

Great service, delicious starters and I liked my steak, but my partner said the pork belly was not great and the new potatoes were undercooked. Also quite expensive for what it is

They have a new menu which was excellent , service as usual was also excellent , it was busy for lunch time but food was fabulous

I had a tempuri king prawns starter and rigatoni bolognese main. I enjoyed it very much at the time and then a few hours later i started to feel a bit ill. I had not eaten breakfast on this day and had eaten nothing since. Around 5 hours later i threw up, which was the first non alcohol induced vomit i had done in 15 years. Avoid these menu items if you value your stomach. Otherwise a decent place. Edit: i later threw up a further 3 times an hour later and had horrible diarrhea, do not buy or consume the shrimp here Response: Hello, many thanks for your response. I can't really be more specific about my experience beyond telling you the only two dishes I ate and the date at which I ate them, but I was in the restaurant from 13:13 to 14:48 on the day of my initial review. I'm sure your other reviewers had a lovely time and I'm pleased to see no one else suffered as I did from the dishes I ate, but as you can see I left 5 star reviews for atmosphere and service, so I am not out to simply tarnish the name of your restaurant but leave an informative account of my experience. I appreciate your offer to reach out directly but feel it would be an insult to the public health not to leave this warning. My review was nothing if not genuine, and I sincerely hope it was an isolated incident. If you still doubt my words or, god forbid, my integrity, then I can attach a photo of my still-vomit-splattered boots, as they are still unfortunately stained with the food I ate at this restaurant. I will clean them when I get a chance, as I am a very busy person.

Nice food and friendly staff, owners are very nice and manager Andre is so friendly. Restaurant is trendy and cosy with nice decor and always nice atmosphere.

Had the lunchtime menu. There was a good choice. I had carrot and coriander soup which was thick and hot and very tasty. Ribs and fries were good. Ribs were meaty. Then a scrumptious cheesecake for dessert. Reasonable prices. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was busy, nicely decorated.

We had our Christmas party here and the restaurant accommodated all eighteen of our Meetup group. The cosmo cocktail I had on arrival was well done and the food and wine was good.

As regular customers of Harpers, my family and our friends are always impressed by the consistently superb level of customer care, quality of food and wonderful ambience that Ali and Jimmy have created. The character and atmosphere of Harpers balances a combination of welcoming and warm family restaurant with modern recipes and the occasional traditional classic. Whether it’s been a New Years Eve celebration night, a large group gathering or a simple evening meal, Harpers has demonstrated on every occasion to be the perfect venue.

Don’t go here if you have an allergy or intolerance. I went to Harpers for New Year and paid 75 pounds a person. I spoke to the waitress about my serious intolerance to paprika. She told me it was on the calamari but I could have it plain. When the food was brought to the table I was given my meal by a different person. I started eating it and to my horror saw it had paprika all over it. I spoke to the waitress and told her and she told me I had the wrong one. My husband had been given mine. However it was too late I had eaten some of the paprika. I was very unwell the next day when the intolerance kicked in. I phoned the owner and explained how unwell I was, only to be told it was my fault as I should have noticed it wasn’t plain. This really upset me especially after spending in excess of 200 pounds for me and my husband I will not be returning. Such a silly mistake that should never have been made.

Attended this restaurant yesterday evening with my wife to celebrate New Year, she was given a dish that she had asked for to contain no Paprika, the starter was placed in front of her and she started to eat, very quickly realising it had Paprika, it was quickly changed but the harm was done. She has been up all night ill as she has a intolerance to Paprika, contacted the manager this morning and was told it's my wife's fault as she should have checked before she started eating and started to question her condition and integrity and was very abrupt, she came off the phone in tears struggling to believe the arrogance of the owner, completely washed his hands of the situation

Outstanding Christmas Day the meal Was outstanding staff very attentive and attractive yes Harpers’s is not cheap and not over expensive but the whole meal was just wonderful I can’t find any negative of our experience. Will I return you bet I’m already planning for next year. Harpers 10/10 Thank you

Disappointing - always love it there but today I chose the Fish Pie so very very hot couldn’t eat it out of the dish - very watery mashed potato mainly Salmon not much else and far too salty. Such a shame as I was with a large group on my recommendation!

Another enjoyable visit to Harpers. It doesn't disappoint. Lovely place with great food and good cocktails. Have visited in the past with both family and friends and am already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend.

Overall good food in pleasant surroundings. Was a bit quiet at 5pm on a Friday as you'd expect, so atmosphere was rather subdued and waiting staff over zealous in clearing our table which meant we were in and out fairly fast. We were looking forward to a relaxing meal before a walk home but it felt a bit like a fast food experience. Decent burger and fries, although cannot understand why a burger is served on its own on a large plate and then fries and coleslaw are brought separately, does not create such an appealing effect. Have enjoyed their steak nights here previously. Nice people here and it is a quality establishment, so perhaps just an off night.

Great menu and fantastic service

Wonderful service, food (we had a roast this time, wow proper roasties!), ambience and definitely the cocktails are a must. Been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. Particular applause to Louise. All the staff (and there's a big team, so you're never left waiting) were wonderful, but Louise deserves an extra mention. She even got our super shy young son to beam straight off. We've tried the lunchtime menus and dinner menus and always gorgeous. Oh and little ones eat free on a Sunday afternoon! Go Harpers, bravo 😊

Friendly, patient, helpful staff

Our latest visit on a busy weekday night, yielded sausage and meatball starters, a fine liver main and fish and (slightly disappointing) chips. Kir was great and unafraid of the cassis. Our server admitted that the restaurant was a lot busier than expected which may have accounted for slow arrival of starters. The volume of chatter was notable. Staff friendly and helpful as ever.

The food is good, although nothing special or better than other local restaurants. However, great atmosphere and service. I had to take a star off as unfortunately there were some annoying flies going around that really distracts from the meal, and don’t seem to hygienic. I appreciate the owner knows about this and they are on the issue. I hope it gets sorted soon and I will edit my review !

Food was just amazing, staff were fabulous and friendly, it was my nans birthday and the manager went out of his way to speak to me when I wasn't at the table to ask if she would like a sparkler in her pudding! Ofcourse I said yes and she loved it! Just a great place overall!

This is the first time that I have been to Harpers, we visited with my elderly parents for dads birthday as he loved it on a previous visit. My mum who doesn't eat alot, ate it all as it was in her words, "beautifully cooked", as was it all. It definitely will not be the last time that I will visit. The staff were all great and the food was absolutely amazing, 100%. I recommend that you give Garpers a try

Not a family friendly restaurant. Spent a lot of money, and was asked when I was leaving as my 2 girls and their 2 friends were being noisy. Not happy. Such a shame

We hired the terrace for a 60th lunch and I cannot express how good the service, food and overall experience was. We was a party of 28 and had the set menu which they allowed us to change slightly and the food came out together so no one was really waiting for ages. The food was great quality and like I said the service with drinks and food was excellent. A special mention to George who was always there to fill up peoples drinks a great service from all and can not recommend enough.

Nice place, food quite good, closes early Sunday evening, Starter, main course, 2 G&T's and 2 large house wine £80 inc service. Whitebait portion was a bit small, but Halumi decent size , wine reasonable

Have been to this restaurant 3 times and each time the bill was wrong , over charging us food very average . Salad with a meal consisted of half a cherry tomato with lettuce that’s it . Won’t be going back and we our table all said the same

We have eaten here so many times and have never had a meal that wasn’t excellent. The atmosphere is always good and everyone, whether repeat or new customers, gets a warm welcome. The staff go that extra bit to ensure you are happy with everything. As returning customers over the years, we have seen the owners/brothers work exceptionally hard to achieve all they have at this popular restaurant. They take pride in what they do and the quality and standards have been maintained. Do not take note of any obviously vindictive negative reviews - try it yourself and you will see how good it really is!

This place has food challenges like the Harper food challenges. If you win, you get a shirt and a photo in the Hall of Fame. The food is amazing!

We were table of five people dining off the lunch menu. The service was first-class and the food was very tasty and well-presented. The lunch menu has enough options to choose from and the portions are not pared down. Drinks are reasonably priced. Most important It was great value for money. Harpers reliably delivers an excellent experience all round. We are looking forward to another visit!

We organised a party for 30 girls and cannot praise the restaurant enough. Booking went so smoothly and the owner and manager were extremely helpful. Staff on the night were excellent and the food was great. wonderful cocktails and overall a great night. Would 100% recommend. Thank you

I have been to harper on a few occasions and service and food always good.. however Easter Saturday I went with my two sisters for one of their birthdays .. We met the chief as he walked through and had a chat .. it was an early sitting 17:00 I had prawn languinie that was tasteless .. I informed the waitress and said can we have some garlic and chillis to add flavour .. we were then given a little bowl with the garlic and chillies.. There was only 5 people in the restaurant at the time ..I feel the chief should have come out and acknowledge mine and my sisters disappointment and rectified the issue instead of us having to add our own ingredients to our food .. although they did not charge me for my meal.. I would have much preferred to pay for a meal that I could eat and enjoy..

Went for a birthday meal for me and my sister and amazing service from Ryan and Molly. Ryan made me a cocktail i specifically asked for and gave us sparklers for our bday which was the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend to anyone and have returning customers.

Amazing place with great service, Ryan was especially great as he mainly dealt with our table. He gave me an off menu cocktail as it was my birthday; and gave us sparklers with our dessert which was just the icing on the cake. Molly was great too when Ryan enjoyed his break, amazing time and you definitely have returning guests.

Our first visit to this super busy restaurant having read multiple reviews. So many attentive staff in attendance, they’re to help and deal with any requests. Went for the calves liver which was tasty but needed some vegetables to accompany the liver and the mash I felt. Others dishes such as ribs and burgers looked really good, compliments accompanied these dishes. Desserts were tasty too, all in all a nice meal out only slightly impaired by high noise levels throughout the restaurant.

Attended a 80th birthday lunch celebration. The restaurant was coped admirably with not just a full restaurant but also the birthday party of 40 folk. Excellent meal and terrific service. More than happy to recommend 😃

A few years back we went to Harpers for Christmas Day dinner it was not that good so we never returned however for my wife’s birthday we returned wow what an incredible experience the staff were absolutely fabulous smiling attentively served with lovingly attitude the food was delicious the cocktails were one of the best I’ve had for a number years two pages of cocktails great selection even ones that weren’t on the menu. We were a family of 8 including two children 7/9 Alfie tucked into pasta with meat balls with gusto a great evening will we return you bet your life. Thank you guys you made our evening

There were approx 25 ladies for lunch last Wednesday. Food and service very good. Unfortunately we were supposed to be seated at the far end of the restaurant, not by the door and windows. Why?? Our organiser was one of the last to arrive, not her fault, and everyone was already seated! Some of the ladies were very cold, which spoiled the lunch!!

Harpers restaurant is by far our favorite. We come here all the time and can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. We came here last week to celebrate my husbands 60th (the only restaurant he will ever go to) and the Harpers team went above and beyond as per usual to ensure it was a birthday to remember. Harpers is perfect for the whole family and there is something on the menu for everyone. The food is absolutely DELICIOUS, cocktails AMAZING and the staff BRILLIANT. So much love and care has been put into the running of Harpers, the staff are always so pleasant and attentive you can tell they love their job and everything is always done to the highest of standards. Thank you Harpers, you sure are our happy place!

I have frequented harpers previously with my associates and have returned with a hopefully new special lady. We were promptly seated in a cozy booth and offered drinks sharply. The cocktails were superb and the atmosphere perfect, so perfect I'd almost say "romantic". The food came out and was cooked to our taste; The fillet stake was a great recommendation by the manager named Andrie. All in all a great night out, would recommend.

I took my family here for a Sunday roast, however, after seeing their menu we changed our minds about the roast and looked at their other options. The fact you can pick and choose a variety of different starters is great. I was able to let my children try things that they normally wouldn’t entertain, to which they have now discovered new favourites. Myself and my wife ate the burgers which were lovely and juicy and the children ate from the children’s menu. We finished the meal off with the most amazing Nutella filled doughnuts! The atmosphere was great, as were the staff and the restaurant decor. I think they were a waiter down and one of the owners stepped in who was really attentive to our needs. Just a great experience all round - we would highly recommend it to others!

I’ve been too this establishment 4/5 times since it opened and it has gradually got worse and worse. My first complaint would be the price of the food. A steak which is only served with a tomato is around £25, without any sauce or chips. Compared to Miller and Carter the steak was deeply average and more expensive. My second and main complaint would be the managers. Alastair and Jimmy run the place and clearly haven’t got much experience in doing so. Myself and other friends who have dined at Harpers have heard the way they speak to waiters and waitresses and it’s not professional. We also know that they have refused to give staff members tips in the past from nights such as New Years Eve or Christmas Day. It’s a shame as the restaurant is nice and the drinks are very good but I will not be dining here again. The firecracker chicken wings are good though.

Pleasant place. We came as a group of probably about 30 to 40 people. I think if we had come as just a couple of food would’ve been better but maybe because of the volume they had to prepare it wasn’t too brilliant to be honest. We had a Christmas dinner and the turkey was well not as good as we would’ve had a home put it that way.

Food was great. Service could have been better had to ask for cutlery and top up of tap water. The seat I had there was no much of a walk through for the staff and I felt squashed in with staff passing the gap frequently. So this didn't feel like a dining experience. Luck of the draw what table you get.

It was our workplace Christmas meal last night and Harpers were excellent. The service was brilliant, the food was great. There were a lot of us there and everything went so well. I cannot eat dairy so they provided me with a lovely dairy free...
