i have been going to this cafe since it was the harelquin and it has always been fab until now. we both had a breakfast which was served swimming in oil from the almost cooked egg on the plate, the sausage was vile and barely warm, the toast had barely seen the toaster. infact all in all the breakfast was vile. we lifted our napkin to find the tablecloth under it was filthy, the napkin was dirty. will definetly not be back

What can I say the minute I walked in with my 2 daughters we were made to feel welcome , children were given colouring pictures and pencils and were asked if we were enjoying our stay , we all enjoyed it that much we went back the following morning as the hotel we were staying in was supplying a not so nice breakfast, they welcome everyone and make you feel welcome and nothing is to much trouble , top marks for food and welcoming 10/10

Went here because it was handdy ro where we parked, £5.25 for a mega breakfast, and you can mix it about and literally have what you want and everythin is cooked to order. The two guys that ran the cafe were lovely, couldnt do enough for us.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Blackpool Monday - Friday this week, and I knew the cafe from the previous owners and name, Harlequin. So, I decided to take him to try the new restaurant, and it did not disappoint at all... we even ended up going twice more throughout the week (we wish we had gone every day though)! The owners/manager/workers can't do enough for you and their customer service is out of this world. They have only just moved to this new establishment, but they have settled in and they already have their regulars, even from the old restaurant they have! After our 2nd visit we were already known for what we wanted for breakfast and we can't wait to go again when we visit Blackpool again! Charles and Steve are great hosts, and make a great breakfast too.Also, the standard breakfast is so cheap for how clean and how big it is, the fact you get toast and a cup of tea/coffee beside the cooked breakfast is amazing value too!

I came across this place quite by chance and they stayed open for me and even cooked me a meal I requested from fresh it was very hot and very tasty I think they had run out of specials I have been coming to Blackpool for many years but due to circumstances might visit will be stopping soon what a shame I didn't find this place sooner but if I find myself around on a Sunday morning I intend to have my breakfast there it was really clean and plenty of room understaffed Charles and Steve were very nice I had a great chat with Charles he cheered me up so much I intend to recommend to friends and family and people I know

It didn't look much from the outside and we nearly discounted it and moved on. We were really pleased we didn't. 9 of us ordered breakfasts of different sizes and it was a pleasure to watch one man use his skills to cook all these different meals to perfection, bearing in mind other people were coming in all the time. The guy himself was very polite and chatty without being in your face and even let one guy charge his phone behind the counter. If your in the area its definitely worth skipping Wetherspoons and come here.

Amazing little cafe. Owner is friendly and helpful, great menu. The food is very good and plentiful all at good prices. Had a Sunday lunch of chicken, 4 veg, mash, roast potatoes, gravy and mug of tea for £4.95. Had the braising steak the week before which was also very good. It's now my cafe of choice in Blackpool. Highly recommended.

Have just had a great time in the harlequin cafe in Blackpool. Wonderful hot and tasty casserole with roast pork and pork sausage mash potatoes 4 vegetables and lashings of gravy. All served by Nigel a cert polite and efficient owner. Nothing too much trouble all for £3.95 with a cup of tea!! Exceptional value and I highly recommend you give it a try.

Priced just right for all dishes on the menu , Nigel the Owner/Chef certainly knows his stuff, if your ever in Blackpool and looking for a top up with home produce at the right price you must visit Harlequin Cafe which is situated very handily for all Blackpool's amenities. I on my first visit had a "Small English" £3:25 which came with a steaming hot mug of Coffee included in the price In my 2 weeks in Blackpool I found myself sampling quite a few afternoon meals ,Pork with all the trimmings,Braised Beef, Mash and a gravy to die for ,and portions that certainly did not disappoint. Everything for under £5 The Cafe itself was very clean and well spaced out , and Nigel always making sure it is all to your taste, 10/10 for service . My photos are of the Sunday roast which was my favourite well done Nigel and thanks .

Popped into this cafe for a butty and brew and was delighted by the quality of the food, cleanliness of the cafe and outstanding service! HIGHLY recommend this place, it is a hidden jewel in the crown of Blackpool and tremendous value. Made my day!

Popped in to The Harlequin , Yesterday ( Sunday 29th ) ; I had Roast Lamb , My Father had Roast Beef -- Amazing Quality , Value and Service ... Roasties ,Mash , New Potatoes , as well as 6 Fresh Veg , Stuffing , Yorkie and Home made Gravy !! The portion of meat you get is `Wow` Brilliant ... We had two Latte`s and it ONLY came to £8.00 for the pair of us .... Definitely going back . Thank you Nigel for an amazing afternoon with my father ; You definitely have that star* quality , 100 % plus .

We popped in for our breakfast over the weekend and had 2 hot large breakfasts and hot mugs of steaming tea It was a horrible cold wet and windy day and Nigel delivered the perfect oasis. Lovely food, a nice welcome and excellent value for money!!

Visited harlequin cafe few times over the wk-end food was absolutely gorgeous and owner couldn't help us enough.would definitely recommend it.

We used the Harlequin Café a couple of times during our annual visit to Blackpool in October 2015. The place is spotlessly clean .We had what must be the very best early morning fat boy breakfast in town. We then called in again the day after for top notch lunch which was brazed steak with mash and veg. All of the food was well cooked and nicely presented. All at a very fair price and served with a smile by Nigel the boss. There is no doubt that we will getting fed there again next time we are in Blackpool.

Went here with two friends for a much needed coffee and tea. Was completely shocked to be ruely told by the owner that people wanting just drinks are not welcome. Never ever experienced such an outburst anywhere else in the world. On ordering two teas and a coffee we were told 'Not buying a meal, no drinks'. The owner was quite abusive and rude about customers taking up a table that he could make more profit from. My friends were speechless. I explained that one of them couldn't walk very far without her sticks and we wouldn't take up a table and would happily sit outside where there were just three chairs. We were told that the cafe wasn't interested in our buisiness unless we bought a meal as well.Horrified, we had to leave. Fortunately the we came accross a cafe a few yards away that were lovely (and doing quite well from the Harlequin's rejected trade). They gave us excellent service, and as we sat there, a couple came over and explained that they had just ordered food in the Harlequin then witnessed what had happened to us and walked out in disgust. Nice to know these Blackpool locals were equally horrified. Over the rest of our holiday, we found dozens of places with marvelous service that put this little cafe to shame.

I was not impressed with owners customer service skills was very abrupt to people that were looking for a coffee he also was abrupt with others while i was in there will not be back

Walked in and instead of being greeted with a smile we got the opposite the man cooking was nothing but arrogant and rude after removing 2 hairs from my mug of coffee I wanted to leave but had already ordered and had a disabled resident with me so decided to stay we got are food and it was actually nice just a shame all I could hear while eating was the man having a go and telling his member of staff to stand there and shut up and putting her down such a shame as she was the nicest thing about that place never been so uncomfortable will not be returning

Went in for breakfast with my mom who's not been in the best of health lately. My mom got some some bacon stuck in her throat and started choking had a drink of water but couldn't swallow it so we went outside to spit the water out. He was really rude and instead of asking if she was alright threw our breakfasts in the bin and got the young girl working there to bring our handbags and tea out to us. I myself work in a cafe and that is definitely not the way to treat customers. Food was really nice but you definitely need to learn how to treat customers won't be coming again and moms fine now thanks for your concern

We have been going to Blackpool every August for many years and always go for a breakfast or two at the Harlequin during our stay. However, we visited last week and were very dissapointed! After looking over the menu we decided to order two breakfasts, but my husband isnt keen on mushrooms or tomatoes (which are included in the standard breakfast), so wanted to swap these for something else. This has been the case in previous years and it has never been a problem. When I went up to the counter to order, i explained the situation and asked what the chef Nigel could replace the unwated items with. He scoffed at me and said ''well I am not giving you a piece of bacon or sausage in place of a bloody tomato and some musrooms... you have got no chance!!'', so I asked what he could do for us, and he snapped back at me ''beans!''. I was disgusted that he would speak to a customer like that. It was very unprofessional and bad mannered, and completely unacceptable. We decided to leave at this point, and instead we went down to the Mermaid cafe. When we asked them to swap mushrooms and tomatoes it wasnt a problem at all, they were polite and couldnt do enough for us! I would advise anyone to go there instead - the food was lovely and service much friendlier (plus the prices were actually better!!). Its a shame but we will never visit Harlequin again. Alter your attitude Nigel, if you do not want to lose more regular customers!

Not impressed at all. My wife asked if I could have something else instead of tomatoes and mushrooms. As I don't like them. No other cafe seems to have a problem with this. This bloke did. I won't come back here. Poor service.

We had a lovely roast dinner that was very filling and we only paid £17.50 for 2 adults and 2 children including drinks !!!!food was excellent quality

Basic venue, but fantastic quality food, portions huge, price cheap, homemade cooking and extremely friendly and helpful Owner / Chef. Would highly recommend and will definitely return next time in Blackpool, without a doubt

Missed breakfast in guest house saw this cafe just strolling along how lucky we were saw any 2 meals on board outside £6 best £6 we have spent the food was excellent the owner was very polite and welcoming went back for Sunday roast also excellent if you feel hungry just give it a try you won't be disappointed

Oh dear.. Saddens me to write this.. 1st visit fantastic.. Lulled into a false sense of security!! Second visit.. Disheartening!! Food still good but customer service dreadful,, nigel obviously stressed by the amount of breakfasts going out in one go.. Not helped by the geezer breaking.. No problem for us to wait.. BUT bringing the order out incomplete and when asked for the bread etc receiving a sharp give me a minute and obscenities muttered under his breath is not the way to win stars or customers etc...may be worth remembering the low counter will not block out profanities...but more to come.. The treatment of a "local" with obvious mental health problems who needed serving was absolutely disgusting.. Won't go into detail but let's hope that a member of Nigel's family never has mental health issues and needs treating with compassion,humanity and respect!as they won't get it at the harlequin! However quite happy to take their money!! Shame on you!!

If you are looking for a lovely English Breakfast after a night in Blackpool then look no further than the Harlequin Cafe. The waitress was very pleasant and service was friendly and the atmosphere welcoming.Being a pair of fussy buggers , we didn't want what was on the set breakfast menu but this was no problem to the Chef who happily cooked exactly what we requested . The food arrived promptly and was cooked perfectly , no excess grease or fat. Would definitely return to this nice little cafe.

Happened to be passing with the wife and dog, ordered fantastic meal even the dog got a bowl of water. Nigel treated us like one of the family, was kind and courteous, if I could give 6 star review I would.

We had just checked in to our b&b and hadn't eaten any breakfast yet so decided to look for somewhere to eat. This little cafe happened to be at the end of the road where we were staying and even though we don't normally like to choose the first place we see, our three year old son walked straight in so it was decided! Warm welcome from the staff and it soon got busy with people following in behind us. We had three breakfasts, all cooked fresh & exactly how we wanted. The children were excellently catered for also. Lovely food and at great prices! Will be trying more of the menu next time we visit.

We found this little GEM on the way to our B/B For the Blackpool Northern Soul Weekend at the Tower, May bank holiday 2015,myself and partner Dave had an AMAZING Sunday dinner each i couldnt finish my pork dinner,Daves beef must of been nearly an inch thick,omg ,The owner was very friendly and went out of his way to help,he evan plated up meals for customers to take away, and the young lady I believe had just come back from maternity leave was so pleasant to talk to,Well done ,We Will be BACK ,promise,Top class Thankyou :)

My boyfriend and I were staying in Blackpool for the weekend and we just happened to pass the place on Saturday and chose to go in. Food, service and price was amazing. The two breakfasts were cooked to perfection so we had to go again the next. Highly recommeded to anyone staying or visiting near the tower

Just fantastic. We just popped in and I am glad we did it was very reasonably priced staff was very polite and I loved it I would go again and to me it was the best meal we had in Blackpool plenty of choices and I could not believe most was under a £5 where others places were charging over £10 for the same meal ! My husband, daughter, future son in law and myself visited this cafe this morning for breakfastI spoke to the owner about the difference since I last visited which was a horrific experienceMy last visit 3 years ago had me walking out when I witnessed a wet smelly dog lying under a table( not that I have anything against animals) but not where people are eating foodI was amazed at the difference this time. Cafe was imaculate and all re furnished. The owner was very nice and greeted us going in the door. The breakfast was excellent also. Extra toast was supplied at no extra cost. Food was fantastic and freshly cooked. Also great price. I look forward to going back to blackpool and will definately frequent this lovely wee cafe. Well done to the owner. I rate it 5 star

Went in for large n small breakfasts really pleased with it so went in again day after for Sunday dinner i wasn't hungry so my hubby daughter n 2 grandaughters had Sunday dinner when chief brought it over it looked yummy N also tasted yummy the portions are large well worth it prices good food good clean n a really nice chief Goin over again in 3 weeks be ready Nigel there will be 10 of us this time instead of helping my hubby eat his il have my own lol be ready for the coopers chief .

Best cafe in Blackpool by far! The amount of food you get for the price is just amazing! I even travel over a hundred miles just to come here for the amazing food and customer service. The owner is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and prepares some of the best food I've ever tasted, I would definitely recommend the harlequin cafe to anybody!

You cannot go wrong for food here & it is very reasonably priced, in fact its dirt cheap. We had 2 home made steak pie with proper mash & 4 fresh vegetable & 2 large coffees for £8.00.We have eaten here before & i couldn't finish the meal when i had lasagne, chips & salad.The potions are certainly large.Everything is cooked once you order it & the guy who owns it is so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for him..We will definately be back & will reccommend to anyone.

I don't write reviews but this place I just couldn't not it's amazing!! It's nice to have a cafe in blackpool with food the same standard as a restaurant !!! The food is nothing but amazing the prices are just unbeatable. 90% of the menu I homemade and tastes as good as it looks. Would highly recommend the roast dinner the red wine gravy is to die for!!!! And the full English breakfast I don't think I have found a nicer one yet. Nigel who runs it is lovely and works so hard. What a top bloke, if your ever in the area it's worth a call you won't be disappointed :) I would recommend to everyone xxxx

Tucked away from the main front is this lovely little cafe. Great selection of food to order all cooked brilliantly. Even asked how we and the kids would like our eggs! Never before have I been asked this and was a really nice gesture. Couldn't be any more welcoming. Definitely going back here on my next visit up north

We are mother and daughter (67 and 43) on a short visit to Blackpool as a treat for my birthday.A freezing cold ,wet ,windy day ,we were looking for somewhere to go for lunch. Hey presto! the Harlequin cafe.I am very particular (some would say, hard to please) so I was not expecting much,how wrong was I.We were greeted by Nigel ,the owner/cook,he was friendly,polite and very helpful. I ordered steak pie and chips and my daughter a full English breakfast,both meals were excellent,plus tea and coffee.When I got the bill,I could not believe how cheap it was.Excellent food,spotlessly clean.value for money and excellent service. What in deed could anyone complain about .The Harlequin in Blackpool is a must ! Many thanks,Nigel.

Visited today on the search for breakfast... A difficult task usually in Blackpool to find quality food, quality premises and quality staff... But not today... Stumbled across harlequin cafe quite by chance but so glad I did... Excellent food , cooked fresh to order and served by the very pleasant owner Nigel. Excellent host who made us welcome and cooked our difficult (as we all wanted different) order with no qualms... The most impressive thing was the fantastic sign saying to inform the staff of any allergies/intolerances... As a coeliac eating out, fear of contamination and resultant illness becomes a daily battle and the mere mention of my "needs" usually makes me feel a social leper!!! But not here ... The sign says mention.. So I did... Nigel had a great understanding,informed me of what was safe and the delicious food was piping hot, good quality and "safe" ... So nice... Nigel chatted and was professional ,welcoming and a breath of fresh air. He was chef,server and host but after our visit I feel we can add the title " friend" ... Highly recommended and will be passing the details of this little gem onto all we know!! Thank you

With such a mish mash of cafes,in Blackpool.I was introduced to this Cafe by two off my friends who are residents.The Cafe is clean and tidy,the food,(and plenty of it,)especially the specials of the day.A quite extensive menu,which is freshly cooked to order.By Nigel.who made one feel at home n nothing was too much trouble.Well worth a visit,if your over in Blackpool.better food at a better price than on the front.etc.Child friendly too.did a lovelly small baked potatoto,with beans n grated cheese,for 21month olds Elle-may.who ate it all.

We arrived to Blackpool for 1 night stay and two days and in this time we visited this cafe twice! The food was lovely and very cheap which had no reflection on the quality. We returned because NIGEL was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. When we returned the next say I wanted a curry but unfortunately he did not have any but when I requested another meal he knocked a considerable amount of money off the price. So thoughtful. Visited this cafe on our first trip to Blackpool. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We both had the pie which was a generous portion and really nice. Was great value at £7 for both of us. Would definitely come back.
