Harefield Coffee Barn in Halton

We were recommended Harefield Barn by a number of people and it did not disappoint. Lovely large, clean bright space and welcoming from the second you open the door. Staff were attentive and friendly. We both had the Barn Breakfast, this was well presented, beautifully cooked and delicious, great tasting coffee too. Would recommend and will definitely return.

Visited today with friends, told 20 mins wait even though 4 tables, empty, therefore visited gift shop , which has nice items but tend to feel it's a marketing ploy to get more footfall in the gift shop! Given Buzzer Allocated a table, still other empty tables, given our menus and then ordered after about 10 mins. We then requested that the drinks should be brought with the breakfast, as increasingly find that we have to re order another drink as it takes so long for the breakfast to arrive, which adds another £10 on yr bill,! After about 20-25 mins breakfast served, but no drinks. Asked if we wanted any sauces , I mentioned our drinks, reply they're coming, no sign of drinks for another 5 mins , another server came to ask about whether food ok, yes but still awaiting drinks, another 8 mins I'd actually requested the drinks from our original waitress 4 times before they arrived, by that time food was cool but we had begun to eat, very poor customer service from waitress , who was very disinterested! Very disappointed!

Always busy so be prepared to wait. Food is basic with sandwiches and jacket potatoes etc but a nice spot for lunch. Can be a little bit noisy inside like a canteen. The butchers next door is very good

Lovely food as always. Service is a little slow. Also felt quite rushed by an older waitress who kept asking if we wanted the bill despite being on our second round of coffees after eating.

I couldn't try the food at this place because the receptionist kept letting others go ahead of me, even though I was waiting in line for a table for myself, my partner, and our daughter. It was frustrating to see people who arrived after us being seated first. It's annoying to wait 30 minutes in line while watching newcomers get the preference that should be yours. We left feeling deeply disappointed with their service and how they treated us. Maybe they should have put someone fairer to welcome customers.

Service with a snarl - a short tale The food, drinks and ambience are first class. Unfortunately the customer service is lacking. After waiting for 30 mins for a table of four, we were purposefully ignored by the waitress who didn’t seem interested in acknowledging we were ready to order. After 10 mins of trying to catch her eye and being ignored / not even acknowledged , enough was enough and we got up and left. We went to a venue that was equally as good that wanted our business. I will think twice on going here again.

Staff are friendly and made small talk even though was very busy they all had a smile and happy to help. Highly recommended and will be returning. The woodlands eggs benidect was outstanding

Went in for the first on Friday 23rd February,although have passed afew times,my loss I would say,yes we did wait for around 20mins,but in my view excellent food,did not wait too long to be served once seated,very impressed the the place,and the review reference the guy pie and chips not to be seen,Well maybe the local chippy might have been the place to go.Every plate of food that I saw coming from the kitchen looked fabulous.Will certainly be going back to try further.And to top it all a very well stocked butcher's and a small but very well stocked garden centre.

Going for breakfast? bother go somewhere else. Can never just walk in and eat due to there stupid no booking system. Every time I have attended iv been greeted with a smily waitress telling me It’s 45 min or an hour wait, clearly just look After there regulars sort it out 👎🏻

This is a lovely place. Run by lovely staff, very friendly and obliging. Coffee really good. My friend knocked his coffee over. They cleaned everything up with no fuss and replaced his drink. I know he felt awful, but they treated him really well. Would recommend.

On arrival we were told it would be a 20 min wait and were given a buzzer which would buzz when our table was ready. Went for a look around the garden centre and gift shop (very nice, but probably just an easy way of getting you to spend money whilst you wait!). After 20 mins, we were seated and served within a few minutes of looking at the menu. Bacon butty was a good size, 3 slices of bacon and very tasty (bacon was slightly overdone and was a little tough as though it had been left out for a while). Barn breakfast was a good size, the sausages were a slightly unusual taste though - can't quite put my finger on it. All fairly reasonably priced, and I did enjoy it overall - just not really worth the 20 min wait and the major hype (it was packed!). The whole place was immaculate, and the staff were very friendly, which is always a winner. Will be back, but it's definitely not dethroned my current breakfast spot.

Visited this lovely Coffee Barn on 27th January at 12.15pm. There was no queue which was unusual however a good queuing system is in operation at busy times. We were welcomed in a friendly manner and shown to a table for four. The service was very prompt and efficient. We all ordered various sandwiches or toasties and drinks. All were presented well and tasted delicious. Coffee Barn was large, clean and spacious. Toilets were immaculate. All staff were helpful, willing and professional. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Parking excellent. Worth a visit.

Great food, bit of a wait for it but I wouldn't let that put you off

Great busy Cafe, the place is spotless. The food, especially the quiche, was amazing, as were the staff, especially Margaret. It's a busy little place but they give you a buzzer, so no need wait in the queue, you can go for a browse in the garden centre, butchers & the lovely gift shop, or have a wander onto the outdoor terrace & watch the alpacas grazing in their field. Will certainly be returning....

met some of my family for chat ,good atmosphere really nice surroundings ,didn't eat myself ,but other's enjoyed their food ,service was 100 %especially from a girl called (Sophie )she was excellent and charming and made a great hot chocolate ,I'm the only one who lives local ,so I'll definitely be calling in again

Great food, relaxed atmosphere, and if you're lucky and go out to the terrace, you might meet some alpacas at the watering hole :-) Since my original review (probably pre-covid) it feels like the standards have got higher again (it was already a 5* review), which is only echoed by how busy it was for a Monday lunchtime, with a wait of about 25 minutes - but they handily have the bleeping tag system for when a table becomes available, so we were able to sit in the car out of the cold.

Always fabulous,food,staff and atmosphere very clean and value for money.

We always come here for breakfast. Best poached eggs around. Lately though the breakfast has been lacking. It's becoming more style over substance. The flathead mushroom is not cooked enough and the half of tomato is never soft enough, It's quite hard when your eating it. We still love it here but would love to see the breakfast go back to being amazing again

Great food if the service was a little slow. Having said that, it felt like we were followed in by a coach load of people. Quite pleasant, could do with blinds to block the sun. Staff friendly & couteous. Will definitely go again.

A lovely place, well worth a visit but very popular so be prepared for a wait, but worth it

Go here for brunch sometimes, always busy which is good until it comes to service. Had to keep getting waitresses attention to order our drinks, then food..foods always great though and the little shop next door is always worth a visit.

We enjoy eating in this lovely little place and we didn't think the delicious food could get any better but that was until we had the festive turkey sandwich with gravy, on Sunday, which was beyond delicious, perfection on a plate. Hoping to squeeze another one in before Christmas 😋 thanks guys x

Fabulous place great food and lovely place

I popped in here at around 13:00, on a Monday, and there was a 30 minute wait for a table, nowhere to sit whilst you wait, but they did provide a vibrating pad and a number that has range into the car park, back at your car. I must be honest and say I was surprised at the menu offering, it was fairly basic and I expected a little more due to how busy it was, especially with the butchers next door, pie and chips would have been great 😢 - but nowhere to be seen. The staff were ok and we were seated and severed within 10minutes. The flat white was nice ☕ and the BLT was yummy 😋 The toilets 🚻 were nice and clean. Access was good for all abilities ♿ and decent space around to get a wheelchair around.

Had a lovely eggs benedict 😋 and pot of tea. Friendly staff, and the atmosphere was chilled. Will be calling again in the future but try the lunch menu.

First visit and disappointing. Sat for 20minutes with no service, so asked staff was we supposed to go up and order at the till, they laughed and said oops we forgot write your table number down. Staff were pleasant enough. Ordered the special piggy burger. Nearly broke teeth on it, was rock hard pieces of I can only guess as some kind of sasauge/ chorizo on it. Was disgusting. Cafe overpriced for poor standard of food. Butchers was good and the gift shop. Don't think I'd return though.

We went to the Harefield Coffee Barn in the hope of having a lovely breakfast. The first member of staff could not even bother to say hello back to us. We were seated and 10 mins later plus a few eye contacts later with one member of staff who did not want to even acknowledge us we decided to get up and leave. Lovely place but absolutely awful customer service, we rate it a zero.

Lovely staff. Spotless venue. We had 5 varieties of breakfast options between us. Each one absolutely scrumptious. Very reasonable too. We will definitely return. Thankyou

I decided to visit Harefield Coffee Barn on my way back from somewhere,as I had missed my breakfast,hoping on the off chance there would be no queue and a table available. I was lucky 😊 the staff approached me and asked me to wait a moment while they cleaned the table it was very busy lots of chatter so quite noisy, but I didn't mind that. I was too late for breakfast, but there were all day options available, so I decided on bacon on toast and a large cappuccino. The bacon was thick, cooked, well, and I enjoyed every mouthful 😋 as I looked out onto the garden and trees in the distant reasonable priced staff very attentive

I would give zero star if i could. I had the worst experience in this place , I stopped by on a Sunday morning as I read good reviews, the staff were so rude and clearly racist (I'm a Muslim hijabi) one lady came up to me and said can I help,looking up and down at me as if I was in the wrong place ,its a coffee shop why else would I be here ,didn't even offer me a menu, I asked for a drink to go as I wouldn't bare to stay another moment in that place , she then extended the card reader and told me to wait outside the shop in the cold and said she will bring it to me ,there were clearly some empty seats . I will never return to this place or recommend it to anyone .management should consider some some staff training about diversity and inclusion

Waited an hour for breakfast . Cold on arrival not worth the money. If it wasn’t for cook the place would be empty give the guy a pay rise .

Friendly, helpful staff. Good food. Just be aware you can't book so at busy times you may have a bit of a wait although you do get a buzzer so you can have a wander around the shop etc whilst waiting.

We visited Harefields for lunch and asked for a table for three. We were told there were no tables at the moment, so we asked if they knew if anybody was finishing up and were bluntly told “don’t know”. We asked if we could wait and were given a buzzer. 20 minutes later we arrived back and were seated. We were told again by the same server “there’s a long wait on food but I’ll get you seated”. After 15 minutes we attracted the servers attention and asked if we could order a drink (three of them standing behind the counter having a lengthy gab at this point) and were abrasively told “she will come in a minute” and shook her head at a colleague! She then turned back to the counter and started wiping serving trays and shuffling menus straight - anything but to take our drinks order. The “she” server that she referred to was directed by her to go and clear some empty tables. We waited another five minutes and were further avoided by the staff so we upped and left.

If you come with 2 men they’ll tell you one hour to hope you say leave it but call you in 5 min if you’ve got a scouse accent same thing that’s if your lucky if your unlucky then you’ll see people who come after you walk in before you and they’ll give you the 6 and say it’s a 9 just a cafe full of stuck up Wooly back c*^ts 🥰 And I know because I come with my mrs and my friends and realised it’s just a reoccurring problem but I like to come and spoil the atmosphere with my Nike gym wear

Lovely breakfast, visited at 10am and was busy. Nice friendly atmosphere and good service from staff. Had veggie barn breakfast which was filling and good value for money.

Have been here many times and always enjoyed, but the last two occasions the service has been not as expected. There seems to have been a change in staff and it really shows. The food was nice, warm and tasty but wrong coffee brought. Had a nice catch up with a friend for a special birthday, we were just packing up to leave when we were blunty and disrespectfully asked to leave as they needed the table in 5 mins. Now i have been to this place over 20 times, maybe even more, but that one comment spoilt our experience today and I wont be rushing back and the tip I had got in my hand ready to leave came home with me on this occasion

It's a busy place but well managed. The food was simply fabulous. The staff are lovely too. They do a great breakfast if that's what you're after or afternoon tea and cakes. My parents (aged 85) visit regularly

Not an extensive menu but excellent quality. We had the afternoon tea. 4 small sandwiches chicken, smoked salmon, egg mayo and ham. Slice of quiche, scone jam and cream, 5 small cakes, pieces of millionaires shortbread pot of tea.

Nice place. Sometimes a long wait for a table, nobody's fault. Food is nice. Wife allergic to tomatoes and when we asked for a BLT (onion instead of 🍅) we were charged £1 , which I thought was a bit harsh. Flatbreads were really nice.

Been here several times and had very similar experience on each occasion. The food is always very good (a little pricey but very good) however the service and wait times leave a lot to be desired. There is no booking system so it is walk up only, there is limited space to wait in, and delays can be 30 mins before being seated. On this, and other occasions, we had to wait another 20/25 mins before a stagg member came to take our order - not even drinks etc for 20/25 mins.

Went here for the first time today - only just off the M62 motorway, great access and easy parking BUT…. THE SERVICE IS FABULOUS!!!! Made so welcome, table for two, coffee is totally delicious, business meeting (interview) that was so relaxed and with delightful scones and hot food available to go with it all. What a find - no more motorway services for me near St Helens. This is THE place to go. And the people working there are so polite, so courteous and so helpfully attentive too. Brilliant! (Can I give six stars instead of five please?)

Excellent as always. We asked for well cooked bacon, this is the only place that has succeeded. It was beautiful. Don't know who tge chef is but they're are worth their weight in gold. It's a truly beautiful place to go to, staff are so friendly nothing it too much trouble. Excellent

Not been here for a while, gave it a miss, due to after traveling around five miles and not being able to book, waiting times for a table etc. This morning we decided to go for breakfast, we arrived early, thinking the restaurant opened at 9am, but it was 9.30am. Had a look around the garden centre etc and we entered the restaurant when they opened. No problem obtaining a table outside, nice views and the weather was glorious. The staff are very friendly and efficient, there were three of us, we chose different breakfasts. We had tea and coffees, the breakfast’s were freshly perfectly cooked and of excellent quality. Well done to the kitchen and all the staff. We can highly recommend Harefield Barn, but as already stated you can not book a table, you may have to wait during busy periods.

Just wonderful!! Our first visit (how?) and we can’t wait to return. What a fabulous place, a warm welcome, then a table in the sunshine overlooking the alpacas and then the most delicious food. Food was spot on, service requires improvement. My sister finished her sandwhich and the server came over and removed her plate, we were still eating, then mine was removed, then the server came over while my mum was still chewing the last bite of her sandwhich and asked her if she had finished, just felt rushed and lacked hospitality standards of customer service. 3pm the wait wasn't too long. Nice and clean. The wait staff were efficient.We opted for the SPANISH CLUB SANDWICH...The food was very tasty and lots of filling on the sandwich the but extremely difficult to cut with a knife and fork.. My husband chose to pick up and bite.. We would certainly go again but not at busy times as it can be quite a wait. They give you a buzzer and you wait outside until there is a free table.

Went here a few months ago with my friend. We both got the English breakfast. My friend didn’t want a black pudding, when both of our meals arrived I also didn’t have a black pudding and before I had the chance to even say anything the waitress was gone, we wasn’t asked if we wanted any condiments or anything else, the waitress just plodded the meals on the table. I accidentally dropped my knife of the floor, I was trying to get the waiting staff attention, none of them looked up once, even when I was shouting excuse me I was ignored. When we were ready to pay again I was trying to get the attention of the staff, we was waiting about 20 minutes to get the bill so I decided to go to the till, which I was then told to sit back down and someone will be over with the bill. They spoke to me like I was a child. It wasn’t great. The breakfast I didn’t enjoy because I had no pepper or condiments. Wont be going again.
