This is local to us and we have previously enjoyed taking visiting friends here knowing you pay over the odds for mediocre food but you pay for the location. Tonight was a whole different story and we won’t be back. We waited a long time for food despite ordering earlier than most. The fries were cold and the Mac n cheese was literally served straight from the fridge. The staff apologised and warmed it up. We ordered the BBQ meet Taco’s. Each Taco had one piece of fatty pork that was disgusting (see photo) and not worth anything near the price and just thrown on a tray overhanging the edge. Staff are friendly and polite and were constantly apologising to customers around us. The table of young girls next to us were told they didn’t have any of the meals left, after they had delivered all the other meals so they had all finished before hers arrived. Staff were forgetting order and getting them muddled. There are so many better places to eat, if you are here on holiday or local please choose elsewhere. Such a shame when it could be so great like it used to be, great location, let down by the food.

Really disappointing, I live locally and went for a treat as the sun came out 🥳. I was so hoping after it being pretty terrible last year for food that it would have returned to the outstanding food of 2022, but alas no 🥲. The meat was just awful, so fatty. The dirty fries that I so loved in 2022 of pulled pork is now fatty globules of inedible meat. Sloppy fries covered in mostly spicy baked beans and mac n cheese. The tacos my boyfriend had pretty much the same. We left as much as we ate. It's such a shame as the location and day was perfect. Please hbq sort out your meat and bring back the 2022 chef 🙏

I’m a local and have been going to HBQ since it first opened. We always look forward to it opening after being closed in winter. We went down this evening for the first time this year and it was awful. When it was first opened it was amazing we always got the low and slow meats dirty fries you got lots of pulled pork, green pesto, gravy and garlic aioli. As years have passed the portions have got smaller and the prices have gone up, we didn’t like it but it’s understandable with the cost of living but we went today for the first time this year and it was dreadful. The chips were covered in spice my mouth was on fire they no longer do the low and slow meat dirty fries so we tried the ultimate fries and it was horrible, it’s been bulked out with Mac and cheese if you can even call it that beans, you get hardly any meat anymore and no garlic aioli or green pesto and gravy all the things that made it great! We used to get a jug of pimms to share this time we didn’t even bother it’s £26 now! I can buy an entire bottle for that. Bring back the original HBQ that we all know and love! Safe to say I won’t be going back again unless they sort it out.

Shocking food at shocking prices! We live locally and it’s disappointing to see the prices and portions this pop up are serving. A once great spot is now a tourist rip off. If you’re staying in the area don’t bother, read the other reviews and go elsewhere. If you want to pay £15.50 for some tacos served up by a teenager on minimum wage then maybe it’s for you, if you want decent food at sensible prices then move on! Such a shame as it could be great, and clearly it’s only open in touristy seasons for a reason!

This lovely little restaurent is right on the Charlestown water front. They serve a wide range of BBQ food which you can have in a wrap or with a roll. The food is tasty and well prepared. There is plenty of outdoor seating.

Great outdoor eatery, loved the dirty fries with a pint of cider, quite a queue that shows how popular it is. Large portion of fries covered in spicy beans, burnt ends of pork, sausage pieces topped off with sauce, cheese and shredded pink onion, delicious.

Tasty meal in a beautiful setting. Ultimate dirty fries full of flavour and very good value. Husband had halloumi on flatbread which also looked great. Great service.

What on earth has happened!!! As locals we waited all summer for Charlestown to quieten down before we paid our usual visit to harbour Q . We were thrown by the order at the hatch and grab a table change . It was busy, the choir were setting up so there was a constant long queue. I had finished my meal before my husbands arrived ( which was forgotten) but we were chill 😎 even though the girl delivering our food was miserable and didn’t utter a single sorry 😞 We loved the choir and the atmosphere, finished our drinks and went to return our six cups for a refund ( we have so many at home from our previous years visits) At the bar my husband asked for a refund , the young lad asked his colleague about the refund to which she told him to f**k off ! My husband wasn’t sure who she was talking to so said” sorry , you want me to f***k off? The young lad said no , sorry she meant me ! To which my husband replied “ you can stick your refund “ and walked off absolutely gob smacked !! If any member of my team used that language at work , I would be mortified!!! We won’t be returning, I’m gutted as I loved it there. The whole queue thing doesn’t work and have you ever tried eating food with a kinife and fork in a small paper bowel . Half the customer service , half the portion sizes but double the price . No wonder us locals don’t venture out any more .

Visited the place twice during our week in Charlestown. Once for evening meal and second time for lunch. The food here is great for those who enjoy Smokey bbq flavours. The staff are friendly. The dog even got a treat.

During our 2021 fortnight we probably spent over £250 at this street food place. Arrived today for our 2 weeks away and felt it was too chilly to sit outside. After queuing for 5 minutes was told we can’t have 2 portions of loaded fries and they don’t do takeaway. In 2021 was not a problem. Portions on tables looked a LOT smaller than they used to be as well. Not getting any of our money this year

First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to all members of staff at Harbour BBQ for making our experience so wonderful however I have to congratulate the young lady behind the bar yesterday for handling such a difficult situation with grace and respect, having previous experience in hospitality I can understand that customers can be darn rude and display no respect towards workers. We were a few spaces behind in the queue when a gentleman seemed to become rather agitated and rude towards the member of staff on the till and the young lady who was at the time pulling pints stood in and defended her colleague. This composure and ability to deal with this (I believe she was only young) was absolutely admirable, her manager should be proud of having a member of staff with such professional self control and the confidence to protect her co-workers. What a fantastic young lady, I believe she will go far and I hope the company is recognising her for her efforts. She was able to disregard the situation and continue with her smile, serving and making conversation with customers. And for the idiot that caused the situation I hope you feel proud of yourself!

Came across HarbourQ (HBQ) whilst looking for somewhere to have dinner with the family after our visit to The Eden Project... Between us, we had Low and Slow Beef Brisket (burger and dirty fries), Ultimate Dirty Fries, Squid and Hummus... Absolutely amazing food, brilliant staff, amazing venue, and views. 100% recommend HarbourQ, and going by the number of people there, I won't be the only one.

Loaded fries were amazing so many flavours going on in one bowl . Well priced and nice pint too would definitely return again

Visited during July, weather wasn’t great so not mad busy which was nice. Wife and I shared the bbq beef dirty fries and they were lovely. We were recommended to visit by some friends who appeared to have huge portion sizes from a picture last year, but in fairness what we had was fine. Value for money was a bit questionable, but really tasty non the less. Found the general thing across Cornwall this time of year is service from the year round staff is great, seasonal staff appear not to give any care. Would return again as great food.

Just try one more time my wife said - and just as poor as the last time. Such a shame! Such a great setting, such a great opportunity and such a let down from last year. I don't understand how there has been such a change from last years success to what HarbourQ is currently... A real shame that no one is reading and taking note of customers comments.

Absolutely flipping gorgeous. What an amazing evening I have had. I visited HBQ tonight (July 6th) as it was a lovely day and I was greeted by the most smiley, beautiful young lady. She was so helpful and attentive, more than happy to explain the menu to us and had an amazing attitude. I can tell she has an amazing work ethic and I hope her manager is giving her some sort of recognition for her attitude. And well the food was just to die for, I cannot seem to understand where these negative reviews are coming from, there’s no doubt that I will be coming back and recommending this place to all of myself and my husbands friends. Absolutely amazing, great scenery, great food, great company ☀️🔥

I know that covid has hit businesses hard, prices have gone up and portions have gone down everywhere...... BUT..... i used to eat here a lot when it first opened and you'd have a huge tray of food and it was amazing. Visited a couple of weeks ago and the portions have become so tiny in a little box, just a few pieces of meat. The food tastes very good, it's delicious, but it's not good value for money anymore, very expensive for the portion size. Disappointed and sad 😔

We have eaten here twice before in 2021/22 and made a special trip to eat here again as it was so good. What a disappointment this time! .. The BBQ with flames wasn’t in use, just a van cooking the food, there is no presentation whatsoever, the menu has changed drastically and it is now basically find a seat and order at the window creating a long queue. Once served we found ourselves with a small sad looking burger in a brioche bun standing in a tiny cardboard dish with not so much as a lettuce leaf for company our chip portions were served the same but had to be sent back to be reheated .. it was shockingly poor and there didn’t seem to be anyone in charge to complain to.. the management need to address the situation because a lot of these bad reviews are from repeat customers who are just as shocked as we were! beautiful setting but keep on walking by to the other establishments situated around the harbour we saw some lovely food and at other eateries and wish we hadn’t assumed that HarbourQ would still be amazing.

Absolutely rubbish, what a waste of money that was. The setting is amazing and the idea of barbecued food there was great BUT the food was dreadful. I had the bbq chicken burger style, well it was just a load of old slop, with a tiny bit of over sauced chicken in the middle. My wife had the halloumi on flat bread, there was hardly any salad with a big pile of onion swimming in sweet chilli sauce. Bad bad bad . Chips were nice though.

Food was delicious and quick service. Whilst they are on the pricey side the serving sizes were decent. There was a good range of vegetarian and vegan options and a wide variety of drinks including slushy cocktails

Was very disappointed that we went down before 8pm and they had stopped serving food when it states open until 9pm. It doesn’t state anywhere that they stop serving food before 8pm😡
