Fantastic food, but the service let the whole experience down. We felt that having wait between 15 - 20 minutes for a member of the team to bother to come to our table to get menus and take our orders. We decided on deserts, however waiting a further 20 minutes for our order to be taken, we gave up and I asked for the bill, which got presented very quickly, but we waited a further 10 minutes for someone to take my payment. I decided to go to the desk and pay there, but got ignored as the receptionist and waiter were sorting out something on the computer. In the meantime another customer appeared at the reception and the waiter took their payment. I left a very good cash time, not because of the service but the very skilled kitchen team. We were in the Cwtch, so tucked away, but that is no excuse as the restaurant was not busy. Not impressed with the service. Hopefully when we return the service will have improved.

We booked a table for 4 in the cwtch and were welcomed with a nicely set table and the menus. The food we were served was excellent and enjoyed by all of us. The only downside was the service. We had to wait 20 minutes from the starter for the main course! We really wanted to top it all off with a dessert. Eventually we were attended to by a waitress who supplied us with the menu for the desserts. We all chose what we would like. to top off a wonderful meal. Unfortunately we had to wait over 20 min and gave up waiting. Eventually when a waitress turned up we just asked for the bill. The restaurant was not busy so there was no reason for the elongated delays. It could of been a 5 star review if the service had been prompt.

We had a meal in the cwtch which was wonderful. The food was well presented a enjoyable. None of us could fault it. The service however was not so good. 15 min wait to place and order. 20 min wait between starter and main. When we tried to order dessert we gave up after 25 min. When we eventually were attended to, instead of ordering the dessert we asked for the bill. The food great, service not so good. It wasn't as if the restaurant was busy!

This is an excellent restaurant experience right on the harbour side in picturesque Aberaeron Ceredigion. It’s the 3rd time I have visited in the last few years for dinner and the Harbourmaster does not disappoint. I had the tiger prawns, sea bass as a main and an indulgent pudding, the chocolate fondant. The service was efficient and friendly. The prices are remarkably affordable given the high quality of the food. Sarah, our server was super and helped me with a few words in Welsh! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

We have just got back from an amazing Sunday lunch, everything was perfect. We shared the calamari and crispy cockles, then 3 of us had Roast beef, best cauliflower cheese, infact all the veg was really good, 1 had Pork Belly again excellent, 1 Crab linguine, and 3 kids had burgers. We were far too full for dessert, my only comment would be beef was a bit chewy but lovely flavour, thoroughly recommend this place, staff also were friendly and helpfu.

What an incredible place! We have been wanting to stay here for many years and finally got round to booking a room here (Aeron Queen). We received such a warm welcome when we arrived and the free tea/coffee/cake for guests is a lovely touch. The room was absolutely amazing with a wonderful view over the harbour. We were fortunate to have good weather in September so the air conditioning was very welcome. Lovely comfortable bed, super refreshing shower after an invigorating coastal path walk to New Quay and back and the roll top bath was divine. We had only booked one night but noticed that it was available the next day so we booked that too as we enjoyed our stay so much. We ate in the restaurant on the second night and the food was superb. The breakfast menu is extensive, delicious and plentiful. Well definitely return! There is currently construction work going on to repair the sea defences which spoil the view a little but the workers were respectful and the noise was not intrusive.

We ate here on 2 nights whilst we were staying in Aberaeron. The food is very good indeed. Over the 2 nights, we sampled the hake, lobster and fishcakes - all excellent. The pineapple carpaccio and the passionfruit sorbet were both delicious. The service was exceptional on both nights, especially on the evening of 17 September, and the hotel should be commended on the quality of its staff. Highly recommended.

Its difficult to review this restaurant. At the moment the view is spoilt by all the building works outside whilst the basin is being made "flood safe". We had a lovely welcome, only had to wait a few minutes for our table. Slightly marred by very noisy toddler on adjacent table (and it was 8.00 p.m.). Burger was good, but lobster was very small and although the Asian slaw was amazing it rather overwhelmed the taste of the lobster. A dish that needs re-thinking. Really lovely staff but somehow not the best evening

After all the hype regarding this restaurant we were quite disappointed. The menu was uninspiring and despite being by the harbour had only 2 fish options, mackeral or hake. Needing refreshments after our coastal walk, we stopped at the Harbourmaster. The staff are a friendly bunch, who look to enjoy their work. Always a good sign. The menu ( first day of the new summer menu) was interesting, - a lot of thought went into it and the only difficulty was making a selection because it all sounded tempting. Grilled mackerel fillet with fennel, orange, and beetroot ketchup was an excellent start for me, and the other half had crispy breast of lamb with harissa, and pickled cucumber.Happy man. For the main course I chose the crab and chilli linguine, and he chose seafood risotto. Both were delicious and good portions size. I managed to squeeze a dessert in, affogato( sable biscuit, small chocolate ice cream shot of strong coffee- lovely. A splendid meal, delightful staff. Would come back when next in the area.

We stopped at the restaurant on our way back from a trip down south. The young member of staff was very nice but the older male staff member was not polite and completely ignored us without a greeting or a thank you and goodbye. I left with the children having had coffee and cake but my wife used the toilet while we waited outside. On her way back she heard him telling a group of old ladies that we had made a mess on the table but we did no such thing. It was like he was eager to please regulars by putting other people down and he wasn't aware my wife had heard him. We've been there many times over the years but this is the first time we had a feeling that we were not welcome. A tip to the Harbourmaster... you don't need snidey staff like that, get rid asap!

Room was amazing huge bathroom with a roll top bath,we had a terrace overlooking the sea, Molton and brown in the bathroom. We ate at the hotel both nights and the food was outstanding , my wife is coeliac so has to eat gluten free, they had a separate GF menu which was almost identical to the main menu which is amazing. All the staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was so tasty and separate GF menu again. Although the weather was awful we had a great break thank you very much HM.

Very disappointed with what WAS the excellent Harbour Master. This was a trip away for my 95 year old Mother - our family have been to this restaurant many times over many years .I booked just over a week ago for an overnight stay but wasn’t told there was FULL SCALE building work front and back going on and dinner wouldn’t be in the restaurant but in the ‘warehouse’ which is a cafe? The food was VERY mediocre which was the biggest disappointment of all and if up to the usual standard would have excused everything else!! When we arrived we couldn’t find a way in or where to park without it being out of bounds without a hard hat ? Having said all this the rooms were - nice and the young staff were - nice . Thank GOODNESS it was only a one night stay.

Great location overlooking the harbour and a short walk to all amenities, on arrival we had a very pleasant welcome and were shown to our room, which was clean but basic and a bit disappointing when being charged £165 per night in January. We decided not to eat in the restaurant as the menu was limited, not to our taste and overpriced. However, Aberaeron even in January had some lovely restaurants and bars. After a good nights sleep we were looking forward to breakfast, we had a nice welcome in the dining room but unfortunately it all went down hill from there as our tea and juices were an unacceptable length of time arriving. In addition to this, our order must have gone astray as 3 couples that arrived and ordered after us had their breakfast before us and before I could complain our cooked breakfast arrived before the cereals and toast! I can only put this down to staff being distracted chatting on the main desk and not offering the customer service expected (restaurant was not busy). There was a cursory reply of sorry but no offer to put it right. Breakfast was very disappointing. We were very much looking forward to this stay but sadly we will not be returning.

Sadly this was not a great experience from start to finish. My husband booked New Year's Eve for 4 of us as a birthday surprise for me (my birthday is on New Year's Day). The set menu was a 6 course for £85 each which they insisted that my husband pay all of it up front when booking. From then on he was harassed daily by email and phone calls for our choices of starter, main & dessert. Our friends were out of the country and he didn't really want to tell me where we were going as it was meant to be a surprise but because if their insistence he had to tell me so that I could make my choices. To call it a 6 course is laughable. I would describe it as a taster menu as the portions were ridiculously tiny with no additional vegetables, potatoes or bread. What we had was tasty apart from the dessert which was rather tasteless. For a New Year's Eve there was no atmosphere, all very sedate. We sat down at 7pm and they finished serving us at 11pm - 4 hours of waiting around as the time in between each course was huge which was rediculous given that we had already pre- ordered and it only took a couple of mouthfuls to eat even the main course. The place wasn't overly busy either. All in all a very disappointing evening. We definitely won't be going again.

We sat outside on the porch because we had our dog with us (not allowed inside). The tables were covered in empty glasses and looked like they had not been wiped in a while. I had to go inside and ask for the table to be cleared and cleaned. Staff very friendly and helpful, cleared the table but did not wipe it down. The restaurant says it’s a Michelin restaurant so we excitedly thought we would splurge and treat ourselves. We ordered for starters crispy cockles with chilli vinegar dip and monkfish Katsura, curry mayo and pickled slaw. The cockles were delicious and so was the monkfish but there was no noticeable Katsura or curry flavour. For mains we ordered ‘fish of the day’ which was hake with saffron potatoes, spinach and bouillabaisse sauce and Cardigan Bay crab linguine, garlic and chilli. These were disappointing. The ‘fish of the day’ dish was all soft foods - fish, mashed potato spinach all soft foods. It totally lacked seasoning and the bouillabaisse had no flavour and we thought it was a lame red pepper sauce. A proper bouillabaisse should pack a punch and be delicious but not this one and there should be some texture, crisp, crunch or bite to the meal, but sadly it lacked flavour and felt like something you’d give someone on a soft food diet. The crab linguine was ok but again totally lacked seasoning and needed a twist of lemon or something to again make the flavours ‘sing’. We had two drinks each and came away disappointed and £84 less in our bank account.

We’ve been here many times.Service fantastic from the gentleman that remembers so much about our group. Sunday lunch very nice, only improvement could be gravy separate in a jug. However we were served only a tiny dish of veg which we later realised additional dishes had been forgotten in error - only clicked when we saw the man on the next table eating alone with the same amount (we were 4 ) we did mention it while waiting for desserts and there was an apology and told we should have said - but by the time we realised we’d eaten the main course . A little disappointed that we weren’t offered maybe complimentary coffee or a small token of the error - especially as they gained as we only ordered a dessert because we were still hungry . Possibly the staff didn’t have the authority to do this. Would have scored easily a 4 otherwise . The location and ambiance will always be a winner there and the staff really are lovely

Delicious food in a beautiful location ! We both enjoyed lovely fresh fish dishes. The service was excellent as well. We sat on the terrace as we were with our dog, unfortunately dogs aren’t allowed inside.

only use this establishment if you have lots of money and are not hungry. Five main courses cost over £ 150 without drinks and when we left the youngest member of the group asked where is the nearest chip shop

Great meal here celebrating two milestone birthdays. The service was impeccable and the food selfsame. Hope to get back, but a bit of a trek from Hertfordshire

Exceptional sea food. The Lobster was delicious and the Asianslaw added an extra dimension. We would also recommend the crab linguine and crab on toast starter. The service was great too.

Very disappointed. Had lobster and it was about 3 mouth fulls! It was like a starter! All meals very expensive and small potions. Chips or potatoes were an extra which were £5! Ridiculous! Everyone was hungry leaving! Would never recommend it!

Popped in for a coffee about 5pm. Lovely view across harbour watching the tide coming in. Watch dinners start arriving and the food looked lovely - generous portions . Lovely dining rooms nicely furnished in nautical vibes.

We stayed at this little gem in a super well furnished, newly refurbished apartment. Comfy bed and pillows, immaculately clean with lovely Molton Brown products and complimentary Nespresso coffee. A short stroll away to the harbour was the main restaurant and bar. Dinner was delicious!...

We last visited before being taken over by the present owners. Both management and food was abysmal. This time the restaurant was well managed but the food was very very poor. We would not recommend to anyone.

I had the Turkey dinner and it was processed meat and microwaved, reheated mashed potatoes. It was absolutely disgusting! When I started to complain I was cut short and told, "Thanks for that. Goodbye". This restaurant has won awards. Why, I don't know. I'll never eat there again. They don't care though because They make all Their money from gullible, hungry tourists. What a let down!!..

For the second consecutive visit, short changed £10.Same young dark haired young lady tried to catch me again! My £10 suddenly appeared next to till, not in it. Witnessed by guy who looked like owner,he just smirked! Won't visit again, maybe should have asked in Welsh?
