Great, freshly cooked food by really friendly and hospitable staff. A real gem and thoroughly recommend a visit.

Good quality fish and chips. We both had haddock which was well cooked. Nice chips. A good sized portion. I personally liked the fish and chips here better than the mermaid around the corner. Recommended.

Great food, especially after cycling from wolves

My wife and I visited The Harbour Fish Bar in Barmouth yesterday ( Sunday 25th September. We both had lightly battered Cod Chips Mushy Peas and Curry sauce. It was without doubt the BEST Cod I've ever tasted. Beautifully cooked, flakes of pure white fish. It was amazing. If you visit Barmouth it's a must. You won't be disappointed. I can't recommend it highly enough. You'll Never Walk Alone with fish and chips like that Paul. Cheers Brian

1000% recommend they do gluten free options and the portions are just perfect, I enjoyed whilst watching the waves come in at the beautiful Barmouth

The fishtastic staff here shallow fried a fish for me without batter so I could enjoy a whole meal. The chips are gluten free and they have the malt vinegar. Winner, winner, fish supper!

No visit to Barmouth would be complete without a visit to this fish and chip shop. Hugely efficient and always reliable. Fish batter is light and tasty and the mushy peas are a delight. Haddock and chips on a bench looking over the harbour to Cader Idris is pretty special

Always good fish and chips,my go to place in Barmouth

I have visited this chip shop about 6 times on previous visits to Barmouth. The quality of the food is excellent. Absolutely delicious cod in a lovely batter. The staff are friendly and hard working. Fish and chips is just short of £8 and the curry sauce is very good. I had fish, chips and beans on my last visit (7th August) and it was gorgeous. Just watch out for the cheeky seagulls who also seem to rate the food from here! There is usually a queue but the fresh cooked food is well worth waiting for. Benches overlooking the harbour is the best place to sit and eat this treat.

After parking we went for a walk along the front, noting the small portions and high prices being charged on the front ( fish clearly frozen stuff you'd expect (£9.00) in your local discount freezer shop). After a stroll turned up at the Harbour Fish Bar to see not a lot has changed here, good quality food without a premium, my friend eats fish but not batter, asked for it to fried without the batter ( now you know it's prepared on site and not bought in) not a problem at all, cooked it for him 5 minute wait, spot on guys, food was really good piping hot and decent value for money, what can I say, just an exceptionally clean, efficient business being run by people who care about what they do! And it shows in the food. See you all in a few weeks time again.

Prices a bit steep and my supposed standard size cod was only mini fish size inside the batter.

Good portion size, freshly cooked, very fresh cod. Plenty of chips. Mushy peas were fine. Would definitely eat from here again.

ok i guess food is greasy on busy days you can see they cook fast to a public if you after fast food and quick its ok ......but watch the daring seagulls they will fly at you for your food like a mob

We always stop off here on the way home, I've tried all the other shops and this is my favourite, always cooked fresh , fair prices, sorry no pics they were so nice I couldn't get them down my neck fast enough 😋😋😋

Prices were about what you’d expect for a seaside fish and chip bar, portions a little on the smaller side - but the chips were pretty poor, they were taken straight out of the freezer and fried, letting the oil get trapped in the chips - very greasy chips.

Lovely fish and chips plus a Roe for me. Only place outside Birmingham I can buy Roe...delicious!

Great food and friendly service

Absolutely awful chips which tasted like reheated lunchtime chips. They were hard and dried up beyond belief. Only saving grace was the fish was good. Wouldnt normally leave a review but as fish and chips are so expensive these days thought it necessary to forewarn others!

Very friendly staff with quick service. We got 2 portions of fish and chips. Fish - decent size, well battered, and fish was nice and flakey. Chips - chuck and well cooked. Overall, excellent. No place to sit, but a short stroll down the beach, where you will find plenty of seating.

We both had cod, chips and curry sauce. The cod was very fresh and flaky. Would definitely recommend. I also like the fact that the boxes it was sold in were recyclable.

Chips were very hard an sausages tasted stiff an horrible like they had been left in the heater too long curry was nice only reason it's getting 2 stars wouldn't come again

Very poor. Chips must of been warmed up from the day before tasted dry and like cardboard. Fish nothing special not for the price. Luke warm!

We had a holiday home almost on its doorstep, so this was very convenient for us. Lovely fish and chips. Was disappointed that it was closed on a Tuesday? Had to go to the other chippy instead. Nice friendly staff.

Nice fresh chips by the seaside

Ordered cod chips and mushy peas, £7.80. Couldn’t believe in 2022 they have a minimum debit card spend of £10, walked out without a meal, HMRC might be interested in this dubious practice, might give them a bell.

No idea how this place has so many good reviews. Any self respecting fryer cooks the fish to order. Not these guys. The fish was slimy and the batter soggy. The chips were dry due to sitting out too long. Half way through I found a piece of dark brown matter in my fish

Friendly fish and chips with plenty of vegetarian options. Prices were competitive despite being a spit away from the seashore. Excellent Covid compatible service system! Would recommend.

Delicious fish and chips and amazing value. Five of us ate and we had change from £30. I’d have taken a picture but we demolished it so none of it lasted long enough!

Would say little against the other chip shops in town but on a fine day we thought we would try here for a change. The disadvantage is that there is not an inside sitting area but the large fish and chips served quickly were excellent...

Best in Wales? Who knows? Definitely worth a visit and certainly the best in Barmouth. Always a massive queue and the crew from the Ambulance Station regularly spotted outside. They aren’t getting it wrong are they?

1 of the Best Fish & chips I've tried !!! Under £6 gets you a good portion of fish & chips in a box . Cooked well and so tasty !!! I don't know what to sat apart from , TRY IT !!! near the harbour easy so find . Pub almost opposite so get a cool beer and enjoy !!!!

Cannot fault the plaice. Batter was thick and crispy, fish was perfectly cooked and moist. Chips were also cracking!

Practically had my order thrown across the counter to me and I suspect it was because I an English, I thought this sort of thing was a thing of the past, especially in a tourist destination that relies on people from other areas.

Searched Fish and Chips on T/A whilst on a day out to Barmouth. This came out on top and it’s well deserved. Great service, fish cooked to perfection and chips were brilliant! Well done to the team!

brilliant fish and chip shop, can't speak for the food myself as i'm coeliac myself, but we go in neaely every day for my sister when we stay in barmouth for a week, and the staff have her order ready and behind the till waiting, smells great, looks great. will always visit if we have the chance

Chips were really nice, staff were very polite. Queue was very long which took a while... But I guess that's testiment to how good they are....

When you go to the sea side you are drawn to fish and chips. As you come into Barmouth its the first chip shop in the right. The do a really nice Cod and Chips. Menu has all tje things you like and prices are reasonable. Didn't ask about allergies such as gluten. I was happy to watch the sea and eat my chips. Batter was perfect. Friendly service too

I had the best fish and chips ever in my life. Perfectly made, they fried the best quality fresh cod and the chips tasted like a home made one...that was a real O M G factor for me, pls go and taste it, you never want to eat anywhere else anymore.

We had read reviews stating this establishment did gluten free food so we waited in a large que to be told that chips, peas and chicken portion were the only things gluten free, i enquired and asked if the ingredients of the chicken curry could...

Rode the mawddach trail with the family from dolgellau to barmouth once we arrived we were a bit hungry .My wife and son had haddock,chips gravy ,my daughter had curry n chips and I had sausage chips n gravy .it was lovely not greasy or over filling.

Not sure what the other chip shops are like in Barmouth but we're really glad we went here. Very good price (less than £6 for a decent sized cod and chips) and very tasty. Would highly recommend and we'll definitely be back in the future.

Great food but Miserable serving women sadly, that was also rude, left a bad taste, especially as my dad apologised for not hearing when all wearing masks and its loud in there. She was almost nasty, shame as had vegan options and the curry sauce was good.

The best fish and chips in town. We usually visit the area 3 or 4 times a year and always visit the Harbour Fish Bar on our last day. Be prepared for a queue at peak times but it's definitely worth the wait and staff are helpful, polite and quick to get your order prepared. Highly recommended 5⭐

Went for fish and chips after our family Walk for Life . Food was excellent and Sue and the staff all cheerful and welcoming. Thank you all and also for the donation which is much appreciated by us all See you all again soon
