Had a Chinese meal from Harbour city on Saturday night ,and I have to say it’s the worst meal I’ve had in years. Poor quality products in it,curry was bland and taste less ,spring rolls have changed, poor spare ribs not good value small portions and sweet and sour chicken awfuli could go on and on. After years of using it and all of my family over the years ,we will not be back and will take our business elsewhere . Such a shame as we always had good food from there ! prices up quality down 👎 No ulterior motive whatsoever nothing to gain at all !! I don’t run a Chinese takeaway, but I know good food this was not and a honest opinion !!

The staff are so friendly and helpful and take time to talk to each customer especially the regulars. The food although cheap is such a good standard you would willingly pay double the price for what you are eating. If you want something done a certain way and it is not on the menu, if they can do it they will.

Went here as the other chippies closed at 10pm. This place is open till 11pm. The server looks miserable but seemed friendly enough and gave huge portions. Very reasonable prices.

Cheap and cheerful, very fresh, and gluten free available, just let them know and they will swop flour with potato flour etc.

Ordered salt and pepper chips. Asked what drink I would like with them as included in the price (£3:80). Asked for a Rio but the lady that I believe to be Sue shouted at me that only Pepsi was included so why ask me? The chips were only lukewarm at best. I would not recommend this place to anyone I like.

Once again food is awful I always give a place two try’s but will be spending money on takeaway shop around corner so much better quality and happier staff

Been getting Chinese from here for 25 years and never had a bad meal. Great value for money too. Bring correct cash if you can.

I'm a regular customer for chips and also Chinese food. All delicious and fresh. Prices are very reasonable and the curry sauce is absolutely great. Sue is a real character too. It all adds to the experience. Highly recommended.

Used to be good but they have lost my custom. Sue is so rude. She has a go at you if you want to pay by card. She refused to serve me a chicken and mushroom soup as she said it takes too long. Rude stuck up women. Ill never order from there again

Love Sue’s food but omg she is getting so rude! Went to pay by card and she actually swore because I was using my card and chucked the card machine at me!!

I've been using Harbour City for at least 25 years. My favourite dishes have never varied. When you lift the lid you know exactly what you're going to get. Sue is always chatty and kind.

Extremely rude woman who answers the phone. Very abrupt and vile while ordering. Do these people not realise that without customers, they would be out of business.

Very good. In and out in a couple of minutes. Portion size we big enough to have 2 large chips for the family. Prices are very good as well. Certainly one of the better ones in town. And open on a Sunday.

Not welcoming at all, me and my partner both walked in and we both wanted something different so he orders and they never asked me or asked if we was ordering together and when we tried to get someone they all ignored us was very rude food was questionable

I rather enjoyed my Xmas eve meal followed by rhe intense stomach pains and inability to eat my Christmas Dinner without vomiting. Avoid. Health rating says it all

I love the food at Harbour City and drive miles to collect a meal. The premises is clean, the food plentiful and full of flavour. Sue always remembers me, and we chat about my family in Hong Kong. Its always my first choice.

Used to love this place but haven't been there for a while after moving out the area so thought we would give it a try and wished we hadn't. The chicken in the curry was the frozen pre sliced crap you get in Iceland and the sauce was watery and tasteless. The beef chow mein wasn't much better and had a strange taste to it and was generally slimy. We will not be going back, bloody awful !!!!

The prices are the cheapest around which is shown in the quality of meat. The place had the smelly dirty chip oil smell as you entered which wasn't a good sign. I almost retreated to find elsewhere but It was a Sunday evening, the place was deserted, my guess is they either never cleaned the oil that day or didn't have the extractor fans going because it was a slow day. Either way I thought I'd give it a shot. So anyway, I ordered Hoi sin chicken (£5.00), Chilli ribs (£5.30) and chips with Bbq sauce (£1.80). The dishes were hot and plentiful so no complaints there. The Chilli ribs were the usual deep fried rib with green peppers and onions. But no chilli peppers or flakes so this was a let down as there was no spice at all in the dish. The ribs were also very dry and very chewy. The chips is BBQ was a good size portion especially for the price. However, my fears of the dirty oil were confirmed as you could taste it on the chips aftertaste. The bbq was just able to power through and make these edible. But such a shame as this dish at this price people would happily continue to return for. The real downside and the reason I wouldn't return was the chicken in the Hoi sin sauce. It could genuinely of been anything. It was cased in some really soggy batter (it's sat in sauce so its expected this would happen. But in all the years I've had Hoi sin chicken it's never been battered.) The chicken was also really chewy as if it was the gristle from the leg/thigh or wings. Instead of chunks of fresh breast meat. I was glad I had this last as it genuinely made me feel a little sick and I certainly wouldn't of been able to eat anything else if I had this first. Glad I tried it as I think every place should be given a go once. Even if you've found your best ever dish. But you certainly wouldn't travel out your way for it here. You'd only visit if it's on your doorstep and really couldn't be bothered to cook. There's plenty of better options on takeaway apps.

Brilliant people, nice Chinese food and fish &chips !

Our experiences at Harbour City have been mixed. On the plus side, the food is usually pretty decent, with a particularly good large crispy spring role filled with fragment vegetable and meat. On the minus, the service can be... brusque verging on surly. We ordered satay chicken, which unexpectedly came covered with a very spicy sauce which made it inedible for the kids who asked for it. There are no chilli ratings on the menu.

Chinese food is very good but chips are often overcooked and the batter on the fish is soft and greasy.

Visiting Cheltenham to see family while on a business trip. Disgusted by the level of hygiene with greasy screens that haven’t been cleaned since the start of the pandemic and having not seen a bottle of sanitizer or a mask wearing patron in sight. No members of staff wearing head coverings and with an above 30 degree heat there was no hand washing or deodorant in sight. Worst part was they couldn’t provide a VAT receipt after constant request and then refused a refund a few minutes later after saying they would figure it out. I see dozens of businesses go under every day for trying to play fair and it breaks my heart to see these people defraud our country of taxable money out of greed. With all our NHS and public services have done I feel this establishment should be refused service and turn to the mob for protection. After all, that is what comes with the archaic philosophy that tax is an optional thing

A typical takeaway serving both chinese and traditional fish and chips. Quite obviously a favourite place for local people, who are all warmly greeted by name and given some light hearted banter, The chinese food has far too much onion for our personal taste.

This is one of those Fish and chip shops that you want to return to . It also has a Chinese take a way and the quality of the food is second to none. Can get a bit busy on a Friday nights but well worth waiting for.

This has been our favourite go to Chinese takeaway for a mushroom curry for many years now. Most Chinese takeaway curries are fairly generic and very similar to each other. However I have never tasted a curry sauce like the one they do from here and they have been serving it up for years now. Definitely recommend if not you are losing out.

Not clean, too much nic-nacs around, not suitable for veggies due to sausages cooked with chips! Sue keeps touching the chips she's serving! Em don't touch the food! Gross! To top it off staff sneezes and didn't wash hands. I left!

Nothing to fault for the food and service from Harbour City. When we got home with our take away it was still hot and fresh, great food.

Having had several Chinese meals from here I decided to try the fish which always looks so good when I go in. I wasn't disappointed. Lovely, moist fish in light and crisp batter. Chips were fresh, hot and tasty. I would happily recommend this takeaway for Chinese or English food. Well done

Omg if you go there you ask for a small chips and its huge. Enough for two. Fish really good again huge been coming here many years never had a problem. The chinese meals are really good also. Not bad on prices either.

Recently visited for the first time. Fish and chips looked and smelled great. I opted for a curry with rice. Packed with flavour. Menu looks good too with some interesting things in addition to the standard choices. Very polite and cheery staff too. Will definitely visit again. Strongly recommended.

Pic con champiñones y sabor! Encantador, suaves de arroz. He recogido un menú. Un montón de platos muy interesante así como las típicas opciones para llevar estándar. Me volveré a alojar aquí de nuevo. Muy acogedor y personal muy amable, que siempre es importante para mí. Yo también se lo recomendaré a otros.

Best fish and chip shops in cheltenham? Simpsons, Charlies, popeyes and the big fish all spring to mind and harbour city is up there with them. Always busy so food never sits for long, massive portion sizes and not overpriced. Never go there for Chinese as I have my own favourite but a regular for a big soft piece of fish in crispy batter and a huge portion of chips

The portions are very good. The chips taste good. The sauce is really nice. And to top it off they are quite to serve people.

I've been going to this place for 18 years and can say for certain this is the best curry sauce you will ever taste!Chips are not typical but are fantastic.Looks are deceiving as the food is perfect for what it is. Big portions, well priced and great tasting!!

After having a take away from here every weekend for the last 10 years we've finally called it a day .you can garantee 1 out of every 2 takeaways is wrong .when you phone and complain they say bring it back it doesn't matter that it may be a inconvenience you . It's disgusting treatment and I won't be a returning customer .

Harbour City is a Chinese takeaway which also sells tradiitonal fish and chips. Dont go expecting to a sit down meal. Food however is always nice, the place is always busy and clean and the chips are some of the nicest in town! Chinese portions are good size in comparison to other local take aways, and as such good value.Been going to this place for our take away meals for many years!
