Found this gem of a restaurant by chance about a year ago. Thought it was time to give them a review. I was visiting my brother who fancied a curry! He’s fussy and they made him a chicken curry just how he asked for it - it was fabulous and he’s had it ever since! Have been back at least 20 times since and wouldn’t go anywhere else. Food is amazing every time we go. So much so took all my family last night who loved it. Staff are very friendly and attentive and can’t do enough for you. The food is second to none, will be back again very soon. 10/10.

The food was amazing couldn`t fault it however the staff are rude they stand staring at you while eating which makes you feel uncomfortable & unable to relax & whilst my head was turned talking to my friend next to me one of the waiters took my plate away when i hadn`t finished my meal not sure if i would go there again as don`t like being watched while eating.

We visited Harappa a couple of days ago, March 2nd 2024. It's always our go too restaurant for the very best Indian cuisine in Stockport. When we were last in there a couple of weeks ago the manager told us he was about to launch a new menu and invited us to try some of the new dishes. Me and my partner Sue did just this on Saturday evening. I chose one of the new chicken dishes, Sue chose a lamb dish. I have to say both were absolutely amazing. We'll be back very soon to maybe repeat this order or possibly try something else off what actually is a very varied menu. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great and the staff and manager always make us feel so welcome. Those guys work with a smile on their face. Been here probably 20 times and way before the current owners. We don’t live close by but enjoy the food usually and they were attentive . I rang up and booked for 6 and told them we would be using the taste card . We usually use Blue Ocean in Denton who also take the card . They said it was fine, I’m not sure if the staff are new but I had to explain slowly what ed all wanted and 3 times at one point . Took ages for the food to come although it was a Wednesday and only two tables in . Half way through the meal they came over and said they don’t take the cars anymore although it’s showing on the site and they agreed. They said they had asked the “boss” and I said we’ve spoken to the boss many times and happy to speak with him on the phone . Eventually the food came out and we a family were all Eating and the waiter shoved the phone on FaceTime into my face !!! Wow I was absolutely disgusted … I said do you mind we are trying to eat …. It was almost like an assault . The bill came and he said he gave us a 25% discount but I couldn’t see how it was £130 for 6 main courses and one drink each . The way they behaved was awful and embarrassing and we won’t be visiting again !

This is the first time we have visited Harappa and it was fantastic!!! The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and courteous, we will definitely be back!!! ****Highly Recommend****

I went in Harappa 5th October and the owner asked me if he could have the house special cooked for me "Hindi Curry" I agreed for a Lamb Hindi and I'm glad I did the dish was amazing, nice tasting aromatice flavours, top notch. The service is always second to none when I eat their with friends and family - Welcoming - great service - great food - great atmosphere- good prices.... what else is needed. Thanks fella's another pleasent evening at your eatery!

Cane last week with friends for late afternoon food after work. Food was so amazing, I've come back with the husband this week for our anniversary. Staff really attentive and ready to explore dishes and give advice on other dishes you may like. Got mixed starter and a Garlic Chicken, both were excellent. Husband had Cham cham and I had Chicken Pasanda. My husband agreed it was the best he'd had in a long time. Absolutely fantastic, we'll definitely be returning. Thank you x

Great service and fantastic food. We have had take-aways from here before - but decided to drive and visit here for twb first time. What a lovely restaurant with attentive staff - who care about both the food and service. It's only a couple of hundred metres off the A6 and deserves to be busy. We had poppadoms with 5 mixed pickle tray(nicest we've had) , then a vegearian platter and meat somosas, followed by the special fish and a chicken dhansak with veg rice, Bombay potatoe and chilli naan bread. All were lovely. Couldn't eat everything as we were full. Will go back again.

Incredible food. Mild and creamy dishes were on point, the spicy dishes were lovely too. Very helpful and friendly staff with reasonable prices. Gorgeous venue too.

Really delicious food and well presented, I was pleasantly surprised at this authentic Indian restaurant that has a great range of dishes that taste superb. Will definitely plan to go again as I had one of the best curries I’ve had in a while. All the extras like naan breads were delicious too.

My third visit in 6 weeks and it just gets better. My initially visit was to check the restaurant out as we wanted to book a table for 25. On all occasions, whether it was with my partner or the group of 25 I mentioned, the food, service and value cannot be beaten. The food is so authenticate and the flavours are extraordinary, I have found my new favourite Indian by far 🤗

My friend and I made a last minute decision to go out for our evening meal, and my friend chose Harappa in Stockport as she was a Meerkat Meals customer, where the restaurant had been recommended. We have both visited Harappa for a meal several years ago and had remembered the food to be good. My friend made the booking which she told me was done with ease, when we arrived we were able to park on the road outside and on entering the restaurant we received a warm welcome and were immediately shown to our table. We were delighted with the courteous and efficient service of the team member who looked after us as our orders were taken, and help was given with the menu in conjunction with the offer that had been chosen. The prices were reasonable and there was a good selection on the menu. We had poppadoms which came with a tasty selection of chutneys, the lime pickle being delicious. For starters we had onion bhaji and vegetable samosas, which both came with fresh salad and were up there with some of the nicest we have experienced. For mains I had a vegetable balti with a chapathi which was tasty and my friend had king prawn rogan josh from the tandoor which she enjoyed too. We finished off with coffees and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We noticed that the restaurant appeared busy for takeaways and although it was a Tuesday night there were other diners present. Lovely restaurant and highly recommended.

6 of us had planned to go for a curry and a few drinks in Stockport, we opted for Harappa for the meal. decent venue, staff were friendly enough. the menu is quite varied with traditional and fusion dishes and the normal mix of starters. Service was good throughout and the curry and starters were all enjoyable.

Really poor service at the restaurant. Had to ask 5 times for a drink refill and it seemed like the poor waiter was by himself and couldn’t understand what we were saying. Maybe a language barrier I guess. The food was ok at best but...

Food was mostly nice and flavourful despite being 20 mins late, all curries were good but the onion bhajis were the worst I’ve ever had and one curry was missing prawns, apart from that it was good

Visited Harappa tonight for a meal with family and friends, the price was great the food was amazing and the service was second to none, can’t recommend this little gem highly enough.

Absolutely gorgeous meal here tonight. Mixed starters and special tandoori mix starter - such big portions and served still sizzling Love that all our four curries were so tasty and yet so different. I had Goan fish machley and it literally melted in your mouth....

Went with my friends for the £11.95 5 course meal and it was amazing! The food was great, amazing spices and amazing service. I couldn't of asked for anything more, I couldn't finish mt food because there was so much but they kindly wrapped everything...

Harappa has become our go to takeaway. We have always enjoyed eating in but recently, with not going out, the boxes are the way to go. Today we tried the kebaby. What a fantastic, tasty, hot, plentiful meal. We normally have the Nessa box but fancied a kebab tonight. What a delight. Delivered in good time, hot, more food than we could eat in one session. A very disappointed customer.Over 2 and half hours late.Rang up after waiting over 1 hour to make sure they had the correct address in which they said they had sorted and the person is just leaving now.After still no sign I rang up after waiting 2 hours to be told again "the person is just leaving now".After waiting another 25 mins I rang again. This time I was told "the person got your address wrong and they will be on there way with fresh food now". When I confronted the person on the phone about the address being checked that it was correct they put the phone down on me. When it got delivered. A bottle of wine was given as a sorry yet they still missed the chosen drink I paid for from the order. The whole attitude towards my situation was just a joke. Who was working over the phone on Saturday 25th of July were not sincere and just seemed to not care.

We ordered a takeaway and it was really quick, good value for money and gorgeous food. We had the 'Nessa Munchy Box' and i highly recommend it to anyone. The food at Harappa is always lovely, but this was even better than usual

The food here is absolutely amazing. Had a lot of takeaways since lockdown. It always arrives hot and on time. They give you pappadoms and dips for free. Restaurant quality food in your own home. Top marks

Waited 2 hours for a takeaway and when it finally arrived the food was very poor - we ordered 2 very different curries but got the same bland tomato based sauce with little flavour and no heat. Starter was cold and popadoms were stale. Having eaten inside the restaurant last year (which was ok) all I can assume is it is a change of kitchen staff.

I’ve been visiting this place for nearly 10 years and they never ever seem to fail. Undoubtedly the best restaurant in Stockport. Never been disappointed

We visited as this restaurant accepts taste cards on a Saturday night. We were met with a lovely welcome. Service was excellent, food exactly as expected. Would definitely come again!

Went in tonight for valentines day, waiting over 30 minutes for drink (wasnt even busy).. poppadoms came before drinks. We started to eat them to discover a dead bug on it. Not even a sorry just took them away quickly. We got up and walked out. Never ever again, hugely disappointed as we eat here regularly.

I love the food from Harappa, my favourite dish is Harappa Vegetable Delight, It's so tasty. We are vegetarian and find the food the best delivery service in the area.

Ordered a take out from Harappa to collect, and was told by the member of staff it’d take 35 minutes maximum. I arrived 45 minutes later to be sure that the order would be ready, only to wait a further 25 minutes without the food; during the period waiting, 9/10 brattish children were running around the restaurant, screaming at the top of their voices and disturbing the customers.Whilst it’s not for the staff to parent the children, there were paying customers sat in the restaurant, including several couples, yet not one staff member told the party that children were welcome, so long as they’re well behaved.After my additional 25 minutes waiting in the crèche, I told the member of staff that I’d been waiting over an hour, to which he told me that the chef was running behind, shrugged his shoulders and that it “isn’t my fault.” No apology. Just that the food wasn’t ready.After asking for my money back and telling him that the service was horrendous, he told me “go, I don’t care, really...” and that “people come to the restaurant on family nights out, deal with it.”Having read some other reviews on here, I can only assume that the Certificate of Excellence was awarded for a seemingly impossible level of inconsistency, as far as pig ignorant staff and woeful service is concerned.Overall, a kamikaze curry house and rude staff with a real edge and attitude problem. Clearly customer service isn’t their forte... Maybe they should shut and open a child minding service?

Do not order food from this place! This is the 2nd time in the last month we have had problems. Firstly we ordered a delivery which was nearly two hours late and the second time we went to pick it up and didn’t start making the food until we arrived again 40 minutes late. Awful customer service and telephone manner. The staff need some training. AVOID!!!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! We had the worst experience ever. The slowest service and the RUDEST staff. Had to wait over an hour for our starters when the restaurant wasn’t even busy and in the mean time had to ask for drinks at least 3 times before they brought them over. After we had ordered starters and an hour had passed one of the staff came and asked would we like any starters?! When we eventually got our main course 2 hours later one person lifted the spoon in the curry sauce and long behold a hair stuck to it another person found a long wirey white hair in theirs and when the staff was informed one of them picked up the white hair and said “Duno what that is” and threw it on the floor? And then continued to accuse us of planting the hair in the other curry to get a free meal! One of the staff had a long white beard so that was a coincidence! After telling them we said we will not be paying for these to which the manager then said “let me see what I can do” not straight up of course you don’t need to pay for it, they also didn’t bring over two new curry’s and continued to serve others and left them without any food. Then about 10 staff surrounded us whilst arguing with us about the bill, 2 of them stood at the door so we couldn’t get out probably in fear we would leave without paying. Firstly they brought over the wrong bill which was for a completely different table and then secondly they brought over the bill again without the curry’s taken off and then the last time they brought it again and didn’t put the discount on as one of us had a taste card but by this point we had had enough and just wanted to leave. I turned and said to my friend I wish we didn’t come here now it’s ruined our night to which the manager turned to me and said we wish you didn’t come here as well! I have honestly never experienced such bad service and attitude from a restaurant and also the toilets are absolutely disgusting and had insects all over the place

I visted Harappa last night for a team xmas meal (8 of us), when we arrived we explained we had a tastecard (2for1) which they were not happy about us using but said it was okay to use. We ordered drinks which arrived at the table half hour after ordering them, we then ordered poppdoms whilst waiting for 1 more person to arrive.

Wish i could do no stars , this is by far the worst Indian cuisine experience I have ever had , I attended a work function this evening for 8 people and from start to finish it was terrible starting from waiting staffs attitude , to lengthy delay in starters to mains , food mediocre , finding hair in food and also being doubted in our honesty regarding said claims, also staff heard to say “I wish you had never come”! Finally to add insult to injury they tried to over charge us hence bill sent back three times , will never enter this establishment again !

Whenever we Visit the staff at Harappa Urban Indian Cuisine,we are always warmly greeted . Upon Our last visit the resturaunt Had as always a pleasent atmospher and ambiance> We were Greeted by a charming young Waiter who showed us to our table and left us to peruse the drinks menu,He returned a little too quickly at first as we were doing so but we had decided upon drinks . we then sat and perused the menu and both selected the banquet fare which is "EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY" , Excellent service continued through the as the starters were servered and so on by attentative staff. The one young man who shone that evening was A young man called "Mash"I believe.He was quite skilled as a waiter and was also guiding his younger charge in the art of looking after customers Requirements,Something he did extremely well and very eagerly all watched over by mash from a descrete distance. as the evening drew to an End we left two very sattisfied well fed patrons . We always enjoy the Harappa and its a pleasure to give such a pleasing review. Well done all

Heard great feedback about this place, Groupon deal for Two was not warmly welcomed by the staff. Tried to get us to order from a set price menue I explained we had a Groupon deal. Popadoms are extra they said ordered two & two extra glasses of wine. Glass of wine had been included in the deal. Charged £20 extra for two popadoms & glass of wine. Food was ok service poor and made to feel uncomfortable about the whole Groupon experience.

My wife, son and myself came in from the rain hungry for dinner, after a slightly longer walk than I would have liked. My son is only 3 months old, and takes some wrangling sometimes, but we were early and the restaurant quiet. We were seated with no drama, just care and curtesy.

We visited recently with a Groupon voucher, the food was excellent. We both had a starter, I had chicken chaat and my husband had sheikh kebab followed by main courses of chicken jalfrezi and garlic chicken curry. It was great value for money we will defintely be bisiting again.

Been several times and never had a bad meal. The extensive menu has plenty of dishes not found in other Indian restaurants, curry houses. Tandoori chicken breast starter was delicious and enough for two people. For mains we had king prawn samber and naga chicken with rice and chips Portions were more than ample and served piping hot. Service was friendly and attentive and will definitely return.

Having travelled from Southampton to take a weekend break in Stockport/Manchester we found this gem of a restaurant via Groupon back in July and vowed to return again which did this month.

Ordered from here before the chicken tikka sandwich which was absolutely delicious and good value for money. Went again last night and ordered the same. How things have changed the chicken looked liked it was pre cooked frozen from farmfoods, obviously the naan wasn't fresh as it was like trying to eat a leather handbag, there was a sad excuse for a salad, no chilli sauce as ordered two mint yogurts instead. Don't bother wasting your hard earned cash it's a zero rating for what they describe as food.

Unfortunately we ordered from the harappa last night and where very disappointed, our take away was 20mins late, there was no puree bread with my prawn puree, my partner ordered mushroom puree to be contacted an hour after ordering to be told there where no mushrooms and would she like somthing else.

2nd time we have ordered here, can't complain...I often do! It's often difficult to decifer fake take away reviews, so we took a punt on a recommended from a friend. All good not over laidened with salt and addatives, I slept and woke without a mouth like a camels backside. Will use again. Waiting times for del are long, so that is good in my book!

Went for an evening meal with my son and was highly impressed by the standard of service and food. The staff were all very polite and welcoming. The place itself is very tastefully decorated. The food couldn't have been better. We will certainly return

well we came here on groupon deal with 6 of my family in total, it was good that they accepted the vouchers on mothers day and two different vouchers to accommodate us ( a voucher for four and one for two people).

We've been going to the Harappa for numerous years and that's because the food and the staff are amazing! They've looked after us on several family get togethers too. Even when we had 19 people attending, nothing was too much trouble. Btw, I would reccomend trying the garlic chicken sizzler with your choice of curry sauce... Yum Yum!

It was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was busy, we had prawn puri starters and i had palak paneer and my boyfriend had tandoori chicken and both were lovely.

Absolutely love coming to Harappa for there Indian food, not been for a while and came with my partner and friends tonight (actually still sat in here while writing this review I can’t wait to write this review) they now have a small cocktail menu and I can’t express enough these are better then any cocktails I have had at proper cocktails bars nothing compares to the quality and taste of these drinks absolutely beautiful 10/10 I recommend to anyone fancying a strawberry daiquiri or sex on the beach to come here! Hands down the best Iv tasted I’m now going to finish off this review and finish off some more cocktails thank you Harappa

My buddies and I decided to visit this restaurant after good recommendations from my son and his friends.

Amazing food i went for a family birthday and the staff and everything about the night was perfect. I had a chicken sizzler which was delicious . I will be going back 100% even the kids loved it thanks guys

From a fantastic welcome brilliant food. Very good value would recommend. Lovley atmosphere. Loved the mints and hot cloths after the meal. Lots of choice on the menu

whilst the groupon voucher indicates starter and main price guidlines, the price proposed on attending are higher than groupon limits. and seems restaurant would want extra for these items. i personally appreciate transparency and such is not manifest. also the dampness in the place, adjacent to toilet entrance and the aroma in the toilets leaves something to be desired

We went here for the first time on Saturday and had an excellent meal. The food was fantastic! Lovely starters, great spicy curries and the naan bread is amazing. My two youngsters enjoyed the kids meals of chicken nuggets and chips. I cannot wait to go back. The staff were very friendly and the service was prompt. Thank you!

Undoubtedly one ofthe best Indian restaurants in Stockport. The food is always superb, even when taking advantage of a special deal, and the staff are delightful. It’s always a pleasure to visit and you’re guaranteed a warm welcome, quality dishes and great service, what’s not to love?

Staff very friendly but food average at best.

Food was really nice when it arrived, the only problem was it took over 2 hours to come. I would not therefore recommend ordering a takeaway for delivery on a Saturday night. We were told it would be an hour, when it didn't arrive I rang and was told delivery driver would be back soon and it would arrive in 10 minutes. Still did not come, so rang again, and the man said the same thing! So from ordering online at 7.35pm, we got our food at 9.45!!

We were greeted by a very warm welcome by the staff, especially the bald Asian guy 😂 (quoted by himself” . And not to forget the FANTASTIC food!! defiant recommend!

my wife and I joined 19 other members of our Social Group, for a first time visit to this Restaurant, organised by one of the members who eats here regularly. Our table was booked for 7.30, we were all here early so that we could get our drinks and order taken quickly, as being Saturday night, the restaurant was quite busy. We were soon served with the obligatory pappadoms and chutneys, but it took a while for our orders to be taken. The menu was the norm for a suburban Indian Restaurant and the prices reasonable. We decided to share a starter of Onion Bhaji, and a main of mixed Bhuna (ie chicken, lamb, prawns ) with Pillau Rice & Garlic Nan. About 66% of the group ordered starters. They came around 8.10pm and then a long wait for our mains, which never arrived till after 9.15. in the interim I went and spoke to the Manager about the delay, not very helpful. I pointed out that some of the group had been waiting since 7.30 for food; his reply was that they should have asked for their mains when everyone else were having their starters !!!!. It was obvious that there was a staffing issue. They had a young boy of obvious school age helping serving, as well as the manager. to make matters worse, when the food was served, no hotplates were provided, so the curry was on the table over 5/6 minutes, before the rice,etc was served, resulting in lukewarm food. once again a complaint to the manager brought little response. Overall a very disappointing evening, only made better, by some decent company, and our bill,excluding drinks totalling £19.10. Don't expect a return visit in the foreseeable future

We came as a group of 9 for our annual Christmas Curry and were so pleased with the service. Most of us ordered from the set menu which has loads of choices, the menu is full of vegetarian and non vegetarian options and an excellent value for money! The food was delicious, I’d highly recommend the paneer which I’ve never had anywhere before. The Nan bread was soft and warm and they asked us how long we wanted to wait between our starter and main as they could see we were opening presents and relaxing before digging into the main. They were friendly and kind from start to finish and I’d definitely recommend! Parking we easy as well for a Friday evening we could just park on the street outside for free.

Have visited once before and this time it was tea-time and we were the only ones in. Staff were very friendly and attentive and food was excellent. We used Meerkat Meals for 4 people and got approx 25% discounted when u take into account Pappadoms Rice Naans & dirinks which aren't discounted. But cant fault the food. & would highly recommend!

Our first visit. The flavours were excellent and the portions are generous. We are used to a two chilli classification being slightly more spicy. We asked whether we could try a bit of sauce the next time so we can determine the right level for us - no problem! Will be a while because we don't live in the UK but already looking forward to the next visit. Good wine too at a reasonable price. The toilets could do with an upgrade, especially the tiles, but at least the sanitary ware is clean.

I went with my family ,waiters were really nice and friendly.we were served our drinks cocktails,really liked the strawberry daiquiri,king prawns curry with nan I really enjoyed flavours were delicious I would recommend give 5stars and I will be back soon definitely.

El servicio de los amables camareros fue eficiente y atento. El borrador de Mangosta estaba helado y excelente como siempre. Una fiesta de diez para una cena temprana después del trabajo fue una grata sorpresa. . . Los entrantes eran frescos y sabrosos, los platos principales estaban llenos de sabor (aunque un poco aceitoso) y los panes Naan estaban calientes y un gran acompañamiento con los curries. Ya que está muy cerca del trabajo, definitivamente volveremos pronto. Recomiendo este lugar para comer para un buen banquete indio! !

Not been for a while and decided to visit again as the food has always been excellent. Booked for early evening and when we arrived the place was almost full with a few parties going on. Good atmosphere even though it was busy and we were served with drinks quickly and orders taken. Food was excellent, good portions and served hot. Service despite being very busy was prompt and friendly. Draught Mongoose lager was ice cold and delicious. Would recommend and will definitely return,

Read a review on here.. ‘ordered a vindaloo, got tomato soup’ and could not have put it better myself. Absolutely awful. Clumpy rice, tasteless kebab starter, and I really don’t even know if you can call that a curry. Never again.

Always come here for our family birthday meals, we know the service will be second to none and food is really nice, they cater for all tastes as some of our party don’t like it too spicy and other like it hot. They have a section on the menu which is called Easy on the Spice you can also mix and match as they do two smaller dishes together this enables people to have a taster ( great idea). They also do set menus which we go for when we visit as a party of seven. Really good selection on the menu food is always very tasty and flavoursome. Would recommend this restaurant if you want good quality food excellent service with friendly staff who always make you feel welcome.

Came here for my birthday dinner, food was absolutely amazing the staff was brilliant, lovely service also the food was served nicely with a smile. The mocktalis were wonderful and delicious.

I went with my family it was my daughters birthday,I really enjoyed my time at Harappa.king prawn lababi was really nice,the curry flavour was really nice.i really enjoyed my meal. i recommend Harappa restaurant and the staff was absolutely brilliant!

Came for a meal with my wife as it was her birthday staff were awfull tall dude which was remarkbly rude ‘boss’ also another guy with a beard which didnt seem to leave us alone the whole time, food was awful no taste and all just bland like it was out of date not coming back here again thats for sure.

If you are looking for great indian food then this is the place to go, been several times now, great food and service every time.

We had a takeaway 3 times now and to be fair it has been fine each time. The first time was the best as the chicken and lamb in all of the dishes we tried was melt in the mouth, full of flavour and delicious. Whereas the last two occasion it's been dry and overcooked which is a shame as it's let the rest of the dishes down.

Nice decor with friendly staff and tasty food. Our waiter was very jovial, and the service was good. A great experience.

This was our first visit to Harappa. We had heard good things about it, and we were not disappointed. The food was great, and Aky and his colleagues delivered friendly, attentive service. All in all a great experience. We'll be back!
