It's normally quiet good but unfortunately on my last visit the chicken in the sweet and sour was really dry

Our food was swimming in grease to the point that it’s inedible. I rang the restaurant and they refused the refund and offered us a measly discount for next time. The restaurant asked us to send photos to their email but they gave a fake email! The photos bounced both times I tried to send it! Don’t order from here, it’s a scam! Definitely the last time we waste our money.

This isn’t just the worst Chinese I’ve ever eaten. It’s the worst food I’ve ever eaten. I’m shocked how bad it was.

Ordered here tonight. Food took a long while to arrive but Saturday evening understandable. Food OMG bland greasy and ended up having to bin over half of it. To top it off now me my wife and son are all having bad stomachs and cramps. When we rang them, they were rude disrespectful and hung up on us. £61.30 for a takeaway that's now made us feeling ill and they don't want to even speak to us.

Food contaminated with insects and hair, contacted the restaurant and their response was to chuck away the parts of food which was contaminated. £70 worth of food binned as they also refused to collect it. Refund requested but just eat and the restaurant have refused the request. Will be taking this further until I get my money back.

Has to be the worst Chinese food ever. Prawn balls raw inside. HK sweet n sour chicken sauce so sweet it was inedible, chicken balls also raw inside. Chow mien no flavour other than burnt. Mushroom curry so watery and tasteless. Beef tough and flavourless. We will never order from here again. Not cheap either

Average food, soggy, overcooked chips and over an one hour wait for delivery after ringing them twice to chase up our order.

Soggy chicken balls, pancake rolls were nice, sweet an sour sauce was nasty, mushroom fried rice came with egg in it! Who puts a filthy chicken period in mushroom fried rice? If I wanted egg fried rice I would have ordered it. Also, took about 90 minutes to come. Steer clear. Just go to Lee's.

Said to me 30 mins for food then said another 30 mins then said 15-20 mins and overall too 2 hours at 10 minutes for my food to come and was freezing cold and most probably the worst experience I’ve had , would definitely not recommend and I’m very disappointed as I only ordered 4 items!!!!!

The worst takeaway ever, disgusting 🤮 We actually threw it away… rishes we’re oily, duck was all fat no meat, even prawn crackers were hard and not fresh… Never ever will I order from here and a scandal that Uber eats using Happy House as it’s terrible… shame on the chefs there

Can’t actually review the food as it never turned up. They’d allegedly tried to deliver but as I’m the only house in the area and no one rang the bell or knocked they were just lying. When I did speak to them they just said my only option was to cancel, so don’t think they actually ever attempted to deliver. Terrible service but looking at the rest of the reviews it looks like I got a lucky escape! Will never attempt to use them again.

Not the best. Bbq was like salty water. Sweet and sour sauce was like out a jar. Did not eat most of it as just did not enjoy it. Would not use again

i love the food here, always proper portions and quality ingredients - suitable prices too. the service is always good here, really polite and friendly. staff are always a pleasure, my food consistently comes quickly and is absolutely flawless- try the chow mein and the sesame prawn toast.

order food.. shop adds another 45 min wait..call to cancel tells me don't worry we be with you in 15.. 30 mins pass, oh we need another 15. Food all comes cold and a flat bottle of coke.

Flavourless everything soiled in oil not curry sauce with chicken curry it's in oil and veg over takes chicken I had a handful.of chicken to veg in a pot and everything was bland. Don't order through uber eats as currently on the phone for refund and it proving very difficult! Would not recommend this place at all absolutely awful

Ordered takeaway, it arrived really quickly. Good size portions. Ordered for 2. Cost less than £30 and there’s enough for tomorrow too. Dealt with my food allergy easily.

The food tastes okay, the rice was hot, but the salt and pepper chili wasn't, and it was extremely salty, not balanced with pepper, bit other than that okay just a wee bit greasier than the regular Chinese. So very greasy and very salty and the Banana Fritters looked like slugs😆

Avoid at all costs!!!!! I chased the order when it was late and was told it’s on the way - distance to travel 1 mile. Should have been delivered at 7.30pm - and the Just Eat site said it had been delivered at 7.30 - just didn’t say where it was delivered to at that time. Phone was nearly permanently engaged but when I got through they said it was on the way, just been cooked. Arrived at 8.20 and the driver confirmed it had just been cooked. Can’t think why the dishes were luke warm!! Perhaps they had run out of gas. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COST! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!!

Would give it a minus 20! The only reason I've ordered is because it was literally the only restaurant open at that time. The chow main tasted like expired curry! The vegetables looked like they were left in the freezer for at least 2 it 3 years and the noodles were sogy and filled with mistery slime, oh and the bread was just English fried bred with some sesame seeds on top. Literally the worse on Earth you could order food from! Please, do not waste your money and time like I did!

We ordered from here through Uber eats. The food was tasteless and the sauces watery. What topped off the awful food was us finding something unsavoury in the chicken balls. Where do I start, single handedly the worst takeaway I have ever eaten lots of fat and chewy jelly. £58 spent and will never order from there again!!! Shocking!!

This was a take away for delivery order. Food arrived promptly. However, we found the food unappetizing and didn't enjoy it. It was very chewy and lacked flavour. The quantities were not generous. The Happy House describe themselves as providing the best Chinese food in Bedford. In our opinion it was the worst Chinese meal we have ever eaten! It is also overpriced. The rice was missing from the order, (£7). I telephoned to complain and was offered a credit against the next order. I explained that I would not be ordering again as the food was disappointing and thereby wished to have the £7 reimbursed. They said this would be processed through Just Eat - but to date this has not happened. Not recommended.

I have ordered multiple times from this place and can say each time has been early and food piping hot and delicious, today wasn't the same experience which was a shame they where half and hour late and got the impression had been sat waiting for someone to delivery as was warm and a little soggy. I will definitely order again in future but hope ther eisnt a repeat of this evening

If you are expecting a decent meal on time with good customer service then go to one of the other Chinese takeaway's in Bedford because this one should come with a government health warning 🙄 I would recommend Hoi Tin - why I didn't go to them tonight is beyond me!! AND this morning (27.09.20) I got a text from just eat telling me the restaurant wouldn't refund me because they gave something free from the menu - I only received what I had ordered!!

Waited over 2 and a half hours after numerous calls with no answer food arrived. Not even an apology upon arrival and food cold. Apparently too many just eat orders #soundslikeayouproblem

Extremely unprofessional. Phone number did not work AT ALL. There were no updates left on my order, so I had only found out that my food was delayed by ANOTHER HOUR at the same time my order was meant to arrive originally. Unhappy

Ordered nearly £70 worth of food...... the sweet and sour sauce had too much white wine vinegar, chilli beef tasted microwaved and gone off. The Kong po chicken tasted reheated and rubbery and the chicken curry chicken was very rubbery and tasted reheated. The chips were awful. Unfortunately this was not a nice experience. Our family have worked in the food industry for years and would not normally complain.

Wife ordered food that we are still waiting for. Over 15 minutes late so far. Finally arrived 30 mins late aprox. Some of it cold. The prawn crackers were the best bit.

Ordered via just eat. Arrived over 30 minutes late! Did call the restaurant to chase it up however, the lady (would use a stronger word) hung up on me. Then when I tried numerous times again to call and chase up my order, she then pretended that she couldn't hear me, wouldn't talk until I spoke, and then told me the driver left 20 minutes ago. If this was true and the driver was lost, then why didn't I get a phone call, to tell me so that i could advise on directions??!! When food eventually arrived, the plain noodles were dry, the chicken ball were cold, the spring rolls were cold, the prawn toast were very soggy and the Thai green lamb curry was tough and sauce was very watery. If I was to give advice to anyone wanting to order from here, DON'T. It is by far the worst Chinese we've ever had and will not be ordering here again!

Me and my boyfriend, thought the food was poor quality, noodles been left for few days and look cheap. Satay chicken was dry. I would say that food been brought cheaply and put a high price. It’s a poor quality It’s so expensive too We brought beef chow main Chicken balls Egg fried rice Ribs bbq (it was dry)

Ordered from Just Eat, an hour after the delivery time stated it still had not arrived, tried to call, they did not answer, spent nearly seventy quid and never saw the food. I wish that I had read the reviews before ordering from here. The food was DISGUSTING my wife and I had a few mouthfuls and then binned it the sauce in the chop suey is beyond description I've never tasted anything so FOUL. And to top it all my wife and I have had upset stomachs. Thank God we didn't eat it all. PLEASE AVOID HAPPY HOUSE!!!

Food arrived 35 minutes late, wrong food sent,sauce leaked from containers all over the bag so food was dry,chips missing,rang them up and the person on the phone seemed like she didn't understand.wont be using them again

Me and my partner had food poisoning I'm still suffering days later. The cans of coke was hot when there meant to be room temperature or cold. I always use to order from here but now I'm never doing it again specially after this experience. The chow mein looked burnt the onions were burnt, the chicken tasted odd, the curry sauce was clumpy. It just wasnt nice at all. The only good thing about this was the food was hot.

Quick delivery, but I ordered a dish with just noodles, beansprouts, mushrooms and no onions. A massively spicy dish with a ton of onions arrived so I rang back and asked for the correct dish. Another dish arrived drowning in sauce and a ton of onions. Seem unable to take simple orders. I gave up. Shan't use again.

Just wish I had looked at these reviews before placing my order for a takeaway. Order submitted just after 6pm, and initially told order would arrive around 7.05pm. When no order arrived, contacted the restaurant I was informed that the kitchen was running 1 hour late. No apology just my food would arrive late, I should have cancelled my order then as 1 hour and a half later still no delivery. I tried to get in touch with the restaurant and had a continuous engaged tone. Then almost 2 and a half hours late the food did arrive, I refused it and now both the restaurant and Just Eat are refusing to give me a refund. Do not use at all costs. Rude and unapologetic.

Food was meant to take an hour, after an hour and half still hadn't arrived, called solidly for 20 min, when the phone finally rang, it was lifted and slammed back down. After 2 hours waiting with some very upset and hungry children, I used the live chat on the just eat app and they offered to refund. Take away is a joke.

Can please just give 0 stars? Ordered a takeaway before 5pm. At 7.20pm tried repeatedly calling to see where it was and just got an engaged tone. Then at 8pm it changed status to delivered.... We are still with out food, with no way to contact them.

Order was meant to be 19.45, multiple calls to restaurant, eventually told order had been delivered ( it hadn’t). It is now 22.09. We expect a full refund. We don’t know what has happened they always used to be on time

Wasn’t awful just wasn’t amazing would rather wait longer for a nicer chinese. I would say it was average,dEfiNiTLeY not the best in Bedford. I would recommend going to the pearl.

Not sure what's happened here but the place was always really good. Tonight however it was gross. Flavourless dishes, the noodles were oily and salty, sauces were like dish water. Will never use again.

Avoid this place at all costs. I have been very very ill for 8 weeks since eating here. I am not sure how much I can say but I have been contacted by Bedford Health people so I presume they will be inspecting the place again. I wish I could write what I really want to say but do not know the legality of writing what I have gone through. But I would never set foot in there again. They should be closed down with immediate effect. As it is not fair to make other people go through what I have. I find it strange only take cash. As if I could have paid by card I would have evidence of eating there and would sue them for what has now happened to my health long term

Orderd sweet and sour chicken balls and only received the sweet and sour sauce, called up and explained we were missing the chicken balls, driver then returns and delivers more sweet and sour sauce with NO chicken balls again! Call them again and they call us liars! ... I'm now sat at home with 2 bloody pots of sweet and sour sauce with no chicken balls to dip ... I wont be going there again not after being called a liar

Ordered food. Arrived within 20 mins. Food was for a big order but very tight money grabbing owner wants to charge 50 p surcharge on top of the order. Plus their money grabbing tight mentality wants to charge the customer 1 pound delivery charge. It wasnt a deliveroo driver was in house there greed wants to transfer that cost too to the customer as if we dont pay enough. Food very average and downright poor in other areas. Batter on sweet sour chicken balls wasnt crispy and very chalky and pasty. Chips were half full bag not full and crispy duck wasjt crispy at all and they didn't even bother shredding it .When you factor in the cost and the basic lack of care or consideration for the customer apart from the most basic need this place is just not worth.it. terrible establishment..awrful attitude and pretty average food.Sense they dont give 2 hoots for the customer only money! Dreadful attitude.

I ordered a takeaway for my Sister and i as she was up this way and decided to collect on our way home, Started dishing up and some of the food did not smell right (prawn dish) The rice was stodgy and lumpy, the chips looked like the day before, the noodles were bland and the whole meal was tasteless, I would not feed this to my dog, I called the takeaway and the lady was rude saying there is nothing wrong with the food...Really .. The first and last time I will ever visit the Happy house, The owners should change the name as there is nothing happy about the place, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone, I do honest reviews and always say if a place is good or bad... And this is certainly bad, There are much better takeaways in Bedford, One place I can recommend is THE PEARL in Kempston...……….. Lovely fresh food!!

The original estimate for delivery was 1 hour and 20 minutes but it was over 2 hours late I contacted just eat and they tried to phone not only the shop but also the manager on his mobile but could not get a reply on either. Food was ok when it arrived but we ate dinner at 22.45. We will not be using them again.

Usually good food but today I placed an order at 8pm, expected time 9:20. Tried to call 20 times to find out where the food was but the line was busy, in the end canceled it at 10:45pm with justeat.

Ordered through Just Eat at 18:30 for a 20:30 delivery knowing it'd be a busy night. Come 21:00 no answer from Happy House. Finally turned up at 22:30 after we'd given up so sent it away. Waiting for a refund.

Ordered just after 6pm on New Years Eve. Confirmed delivery time of 7:45. Tried calling the restaurant at 8:20 to see where the food was, no answer. Contacted Just Eat, they couldn’t get hold of the restaurant or the owner either. Now 9pm on NYE, cancelled my order and won’t be able to order elsewhere at this hour on NYE without waiting another couple of hours so that’s my night ruined. Abysmal.

They illegally charge 50p for debit card transactions. This was pointed out to a staff member who said they knew it's illegal, but the manager still insists they break the law! What else are they doing that's illegal?
