This place was recommended by a friend, all I can say is never again.. Food awful, lacked sauce, flavour, greasy. I was disappointed, definitely not worth the money..

Went here this evening and spent around £30 on quite a bit of food. Food was amazing and far exceeded my expectations. The women working this evening was also really lovely and helpful.

Ordered online thru the hub, its an hour wait and its also late, the duck is shredded and not quite nice and not authentic. The singaporean noodles was good.

10+ Years of ordering pick up & delivery, never had an issue EVER. Always delivered piping hot, food is fresh and tasty! Recommend Smoked Chicken starter, Chow Meins, salt and chilli dishes. All round excellent

Food poisoning at its finest. We came into the store and purchased some kung pao chicken. Ended up getting food poisoned. Contacted the link on the website and was advised nothing will be done as I went into the store instead of purchasing on the web. Sorry, I didn’t realise that the health of others is based on your purchase option.

Best Chinese food in Torbay. Freshly made food, fantastic service

Normally have a delivery from here but as I was close by we called in for a takeaway... whilst we were waiting for our food the chef dropped a piece of chicken on the floor !! I was waiting to see if he threw it away ... But NO right in front of us watching he picked it up.off the floor and put it into wok and cooked it 😱 if they can do this infront of a customer what else goes on .. never use this place again ever !!!! ..

Discusting, worse food I’ve ever attempted to eat . Horrible taste to the rice , chicken didn’t taste like chicken . I’m not from the area so thankfully won’t have to use again . I did read reviews before but normally don’t go on negative feedback and try myself , well not no more , the reviews are correct it was awful . Sorry to say but it’s honest, I will live and learn as the saying goes . Staff thou was lovely and service was great it’s just the food that was the letdown

Had our meal from here. Normally a great meal. However ordered today. Chicken with oyster sauce. More veg not so much oyster sauce. Sorry guys well below par.

Sweet & Sour chicken hong kong style. Seemed like it was just a chicken breast in batter cut into strips, not crispy or like anything we have had before. Shrimp fried rice was stodgy. Special chow mein not that great either. Bit of a disappointment.

Had some food there tonight and we were sooo disappointed. Sweet and sour chicken and rice were congealed, the batter was thick uncooked dough. The chow mein was like plastic and the chicken and mushroom soup tasted like greasy water. Duck wasn't shredded.. Just skin and a bit of meat. Total waste of money. Avoid. Nice people tho....

Firstly I do not like making a complaints I had sweet and sour chicken balls in better. They tasted like salt balls I popped into explain to the lady all I got was sorry. No replacement or to order something different I was a regular customer. Not anymore such a shame they need to understand customer service.

Portions not great the noodles is completely overloaded with onions and I got 4 pieces of king prawn in the salt and pepper King prawn which cost 6.60. Delivery took a long time although the food was very hot to thier credit. I wouldn't use again as overall the food was small in portion, bland in flavour and overpriced. There are plenty of better Chinese takeaways in torquay and around the bay. Disappointing but this was my experience with the Happy Chef. Delivery driver was polite and followed directions.

Fast delivery. Generous portions. We had chicken fried rice and chicken chow mein both were equally tasty and well cooked.

Not consistent some times awful.

Had a few takeaway's from Happy chef but this last one was just awful very greasy and tasteless ,what a shame won't be going back for a while.

usually our regular favourite Chinese tonight we made an order, not as large as normal so prawn crackers which are usually added free weren't added usually a nice touch to show appreciation for your custom. The chips were so inedible and dry even to dip in the accompanying curry sauce !! total waste of money the spring rolls were nice but apart from that something costing £6.00 but paying £18.00 to only have something of that amount that u can eat is disgusting especially for a loyal regular customer.

We had a takeaway from here while on a weekend away, and we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Well worth popping in

Amazing spring rolls but was a little disappointed of the small portion of salt and chilli chips, had to ring up and ask them to bring a second portion as it didn't serve 2!! Other than that, Incredible.

First time ordering for delivery. Rate them excellent. Ordered ss chicken balls cook perfectly, wgg fried rice and anazing spring roles. Simple wed site for irdering. Delivered in 45 minutes on a busy new years day. Driver was very friendly. Would recommend as one of the too Chinese takeaways in torquay. If this is one of the best chinese take away in Torquay then I leave very dissapointed .The food was overcharged ,they quoted one price then the delivery driver cancelled the price on the receipt with a pen and charged extra £1.50 , they sent no cutlery even though I requested some especially as we are on holiday and eating in our hotel room .And the most dissapointing was the food ,soggy and bland. I wish I had ordered pizza instead .

Ordered a home delivery from Happy Chef last night for the first time and have finally found the BEST Chinese in Torbay!!! I ordered chicken and black bean sauce which was described as spicy and it was as described and perfectly spiced. The food had a lot of flavour and was cooked well. I hate it when you order king prawn from other takeaways and it comes with lots of raw onion and pepper in a gloopy tasteless red sauce. King prawn from the Happy Chef was not one of those bland disasters. Spicy salty chips which my husband added to the order were something new to me, but they were delicious. You must try them if like me you like a bit of a chilli kick. Delivery was swift and the girl who delivered was friendly and courteous Overall a culinary delightful and delicious feast

If this is the best Chinese takeaway in Torquay, then I'd hate to try the others. My roast pork curry was oily with dried out pork. The egg fried rice looked and tasted like it had been kept for a long time since it was really dry and congealed. Awful meal and I won't be going back.

Literally the nicest Chinese in the entire world. If I didn’t live in Northamptonshire I’d be there every night!

We ordered takeaway last night, specifically the special set meal for 2, which I will henceforth call the 9 course Asian buffet for a family of four. I've never had a meal for two delivered in a very full box before, and it was a box full of very delicious food that came exactly the time they said, almost to the minute. The starters selection was as big as some meals I've had before with a great mix, the satay chicken a particular favourite. The dishes from the meal itself were equally varied and all excellent, including a crispy quarter duck that I can only think came from a duck the size of a labrador. Everything was hot and the cartons were overflowing. In all it made us not only a very delicious dinner, but it's just been finished off as a very delicious lunch the next day as well. I do think it's possible this could be a meal for two people, but only with enough preparation... say two days without food or a training regime from World's Strongest Man. It would still be worth it though. Will definitely order again.

I have not ordered from this restaurant for some time and I must say it has been too long. The food is excellent, spring rolls, hot and sour soup, fried beansprouts and two chicken dishes. I can thoroughly recommend. I will not be waiting so long to order again.

Very good Chinese takeaway. My local so its a bonus they do deliver. You can see the chefs cooking and I like that!! Crispy chill beef is fab and salt and chilli prawns very good. Very nice people that run it too. 👍

Just has Roast pork curry, comes with fried rice and mixed sweet and sour balls. I have had a number of chinese takeaways from all over Torbay but this was absolutely delicious and on time. Cannot be beaten

Second time of ordering whilst on holiday and lovely once again :)

My telephoned order for takeaway was ready when they said and it was what I asked for. Very friendly people. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals which were still hot when I got home. Their prices are reasonable. The only negative about this place is that parking can be difficult, but that's not their fault and hey, this is Torquay where parking is never easy.

We came here a in whim late on a Sunday evening as we'd had a large lunch and wernt hungry till around 10:30pm.The place looked very clean and welcoming with lots of chairs to wait for your food. The guy at the till was sound. Very friendly. We waited around five minutes for our food. Whiles we were waiting you could see the chefs cooking they were very clean(kept washing hands and sanitising) and the kitchen was spotless. They even had takeaway forks so we could eat at the beach. To say the least it was the best Chinese I've had for a long time! We only ordered. Few items and if we could have eaten more we'd have gone back! We had chicken curry, chips and veg spring rolls.The curry was really delicious! The chips were cooked perfectly and the spring rolls were also perfect, I cannot fault this place. If we return to torquay I'll save my appetite for this place! D for delicious! Thanks happy chef.

Special chow mien tastes/smells off- They say its supposed to taste how it does. I'm pregnant so didn't risk it but a waste of £6. Forgot my coke so said will redeliver it... Brought diet coke instead. First time i ordered from here , sticking to Shun lee from now on.

hands down the worst Chinese we’ve ever had, ordered our usual that we get from every other Chinese but was completely different. chicken satay skewers were dried out, curry sauce tasteless, crispy seaweed was almost brown and very hard, crispy chilli chicken tasted awful, wasn’t crispy or anything close to chilli chicken we have ordered elsewhere. won’t be ordering again!

Foo Young was excellent. Chow Mein was good. Soups were OK. But the spring roll was awful; gave the impression that it had either been reheated or cooked from frozen.

OK bit greasy asked for crispy beef more like rubber

Will never order from here again. The lid to our curry sauce had either melted, or been squashed, and so everything in the bag had a liberal coating of said sauce. However, it's valentines day and we were starving, so we didn't make anything of it and tucked in. Unfortunately the chicken balls were both tiny, and rock hard, plus tasted of manky, old, cooking oil. The whole meal left a pretty rank taste in our mouths, thankfully we had plenty of cheap coop prosecco on hand to wash it down With! We'll be going back to a better Chinese takeaway in the future

Utterly revolting, prawn toast was like carpet tiles that were overcooked, inedible, duck in plum sauce was undercooked with so much stringy un rendered fat, it looked grey and disgusting, and finally the crispy chilli beef must have been microwaved as it was like strips of boot leather, worst Chinese I've ever had, avoid at all costs. The simplest of meals delivered lukewarm warm and inedible. REVOLTING

The salt and chilli chips were very stale, like they had been re-heated from a few days before. The boiled rice was very dry. The duck was bland with unappealing sauce and and just a fist full of bamboo shoots thrown in. The soup was nice and the prawn crackers were also nice. If you like soup and crackers shop from here, otherwise I'd avoid.
