Visited today for the first time, what a lovely piece of chocolate cake and a delicious bowl of soup, made very welcome, will certainly be back when next in the area

Sadly the 'hospitality' has gone from the hospitality industry in many cases but not the case here: Excellent quality food partnered with exceptional attentive service made my mum's birthday afternoon tea at sucess. The owners are knowledgeable about the area; pleasant: even managed to tame my challenging 3 year old, and make the business what it is. I much prefer to spend my money at a place like this rather than a soulless hotel lounge or likewise

This is the best Afternoon Tea .I have been experienced . Other places you get one three tiered plate stand between 2. Here you get one each All good was home made.As I cannot eat a lot of fresh cream. I found these lovely cakes a refreshing change. Especially the little chocolate teapot. Was even given kitchen foil to bring home what we didn't eat.

This was one of the most friendly places I've been to. Everyone was chatting with each other. My husband and our friend both had vegetable soup which was full of chunky veg and served with hunks of bread. I had a sandwich which was equally fresh and good. We were surrounded by quirky unique gifts all at reasonable prices. Oh, and the puddings were to die for! If we didn't live so far away, this would be a regular haunt. The village is attractive and then from there it's a 5 minute drive to the coast at Saltburn. If I was on holiday in Saltburn I'd be coming away from the touristy places and definitely heading to this little gem of a cafe.

Simply the most delightful afternoon tea. A friendly and warm greeting, coffee which both tasted and smelt great. Home made food, and plenty of it, which was delightfully tasty. The raspberry macaron was the highlight for me, delightfully melting in the mouth with just that hint of sweet sourness - a culinary masterpiece. The lady chef is a complete genius. Will we visit again - you bet we will.

Once again Julie and Gerhard gave us a fantastic Afternoon Tea. They never fail in service, quality and certainly value for money. Plus of course the entertainment!! The lemon scones were fantastic, but we were a little disappointed there were none to buy. Next time Julie make an extra batch so we can take them home! We all wish you both a very happy Christmas and a very successful 2018, you certainly deserve it.

Dropped in for a coffee and scone when passing through Skelton. Coffee quite good but didn't have cappuccino as only full fat milk available, not even semi-skimmed. Scone looked nice enough but was just ok. Presentation was nice; cloth on table, pretty crockery etc. Would have liked to look round at all the things on display, presumably for sale, but sadly the owner never stopped talking. Of course it is nice to be greeted in a friendly manner but we were given no chance to have our own conversation nor any privacy. I'm sure if there had been other people in it would have been a better experience so we hope to give it another try.

What can we say. Another fantastic afternoon tea with Gerhard and Julie. The rhubarb and ginger scones were out of this world. Each time we go Julie manages to produce something different. If was a friends 70th birthday and Julie made a fabulous lemon cake complete with a large candle/volcano/sparkler. We didn't think we could eat it as we were full but it was so light it just slid down (pity it won't slide off our hips!!!). Can highly recommend Ha penny's. Always a lovely afternoon out. Thankyou again to you both.

For a surprise some friends had arranged a baby shower at Ha'Penny and we have a lovely afternoon. The service was great, the sandwiches, cakes and scones were all fresh and great tasting. The tea room itself was such a nice environment and in particular for ourselves as we hired the venue for the afternoon. Would 100% recommend this to all.

My partner and I visited Skelton on what could be described as a miserable disgusting day. To our surprise we found this little oasis on the high street. We received a warm and friendly welcome. Our tea and coffee was served promptly in the very best China. The homemade cakes were delicious. The full afternoon tea (pre order) looked fit for a queen priced at £12, very reasonable for the three tiered china stand filled with sandwiches, scones and cakes. I would highly recommend this tea room.

Having had afternoon tea here today really want to share with you all a really fabulous place to go!! The sandwich's were so fresh on both brown & white bread served with fresh salted crisps, the selection of freshly baked scone, cakes, chocolate & fresh fruit was fantastic too much to eat in one go but brought some cakes home to enjoy. The tea rooms sell a selection of locally made jewellery & small gift items at very reasonable costs. The owners were very friendly they work hard to produce first class food in comfortable surroundings at reasonable prices having sampled the afternoon tea will definately be back. Snacks & lunch are available which I will try over future visits I am sure as all good is home cooked it will be as delicious. You should really call to try this out.

Our afternoon was thoroughly enjoyable, the sandwiches so fresh with tasty fillings, and such beautiful cakes, washed down by good old Yorkshire tea, and plenty of refills. The owners made us so welcome and were very friendly. The tea room plays some back ground music which fits in well with the surroundings. You can also browse around the tea room as it sells nice little nic nacs.Another visit on the cards without fail.Wouldn't change a thing about this tea room. What a gem of a place! Quaint, pretty and so welcoming. I had a voucher from Groupon so tried here with my daughter and baby Grandaughter. The couple who own and run this were lovely. We had a chat with them as the food was prepared and brought out and found them so enthusiastic about Skelton and they promoted other businesses to us. Lovely community spirit! The tea room sells trinkets, signs and various items but are displayed in such a way that it's decoration in the room too. The afternoon tea was lovely with choice of sandwiches, orange scone with orange cuts and cream and selection of small cakes. All was delicious and presented with unlimited tea and coffee in pretty China cups and saucers. This place is just what a tea room should look like and I have recommended to friends and family already.

We bought a groupon voucher for afternoon tea at this cafe some months ago and drove over there (just under 2 hours) on a snowy Saturday in late November. We are so glad we went as this cafe is delightful. We were made to feel welcome by the lovely couple who own and run this small establishment from the second we entered. They could not do enough for us. The tea came first with a short wait on food as a large meal order had just been placed. When the food came we had a 3 tier plate EACH, which was filled with cheese and chicken sandwiches (our fillings request) and crisps. Cakes comprised iced fruit cake, macaroon, mini sponge, rum truffle, mini iced bun, pieces of fresh fruit- pineapple, melon, strawberry, kiwi, blueberries. An almond and cherry scone with butter, jam and clotted cream accompanied all these delicious cakes. This is in the top two of the best teas we have ever had. Presentation was fantastic, service the best ever in this country and location only a couple of miles from Saltburn where we had a very bracing walk along the pier afterwards.Highly recommended.

A friend and I visited the Ha'penny tea room this afternoon after a series of mishaps. We were late but nothing was too much trouble: de caffeinated tea no problem. The sandwiches were fine and there was a tasty selection of mini cakes , small morsels of fruit and a cherry scone with jam and cream made by Julie from Brotton co owner and wife of the host, Gerhard Pieterse, a rugby playing South African (in his youth)He must have made a good target in the line -outs as he topped 6 and 1/2 feet I'm sure. We never stopped chatting and learning about life in South Africa compared with Britain. The time passed quickly .An hour went by and we had been royally entertained.I applaud the plans for a face lift to Skelton High Street ( using lottery money) reinstating the old shop windows taking us back to pre 1984 when a ha'penny was real money.I think that the local craft work on display is well worth viewing with re-cycling as a priority.

Spent a most wonderful afternoon with a dear friend catching up on news in the loveliest of surroundings Ha'Penny Gift and Vintage Tea Room on Skelton in Cleveland High street. The experience started from when we stepped into the Tea Room were we were warmly greeted and led to our table covered in a vintage tablecloth with a lovely vase of fresh flowers as the centre piece. We each had our own cake stand with delicious sandwiches freshly cut and garnished, scrumptious. The top layer was full of delightful freshly baked cakes and refreshing. exotic fruit Mmmm! Nothing to complain about in this Tea Room. Attention to detail was key to the whole afternoon. Memories of a bygone era. Julie and her husband make a wonderful team. What more can I add, except - visit and partake, allow yourself to be cosseted. Oh and you may even be tempted to buy some of the locally sourced produce and even something vintage for the home.

I recently visited The Queen's Arms Pub, and I have to say it was an exceptional experience. The food was absolutely outstanding — each dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and served with perfect portion sizes. I highly recommend trying their parmo perfectly tender, and the sides were fresh and satisfying. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. The atmosphere of the pub was warm and welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. Whether you're looking for a cozy spot for a casual meal or a place to enjoy a drink with friends, The Queen's Arms is definitely worth a visit. Both the food and service exceeded my expectations, making it a place I’ll happily return to.
