Cozy little pub with a nice atmosphere

I was absolutely blown away by the portion of this rich, flavourful salad. I was hesitant to have lunch at a pub because I was craving something healthier than fish and chips, but I luckily stumbled upon this pub on the way to Holland Park. Too early to drink beer, but the selection seems to be top-notch.

Great service and awesome vibes! Ordered their fish and chips a classic, as well as their CheeseCake was spot on! I personally found the fish and chips huge, but it was worth every bite. it tasted delicious and very fresh! 10/10 would recommend! Special thanks to the barman and the server, both were really know their jobs and made our night in sweet memory.

I came here because the reviews were good. I don’t think these other reviewers know what a good pub should look like - this definitely isn’t a good pub. The staff were cold, not friendly. They all seemed preoccupied on their phones or chatting between themselves. The beer was overpriced, and the was no atmosphere.

The pub did a great job of handling our group of 27 people. We had soup, hamburgers, and dessert. The food was tasty. The service was as quick as could be done with just one person serving the room. We were all very happy with our meals and enjoyed the place immensely.

We went for a fish and chips. We added on macaroni bites, fried balls of macaroni. We had really great fish and chips the day before, so these were just average. We left most of the macaroni behind. It was located across a large intersection from Earls Court tube. It seemed a local working class hangout.

Nice pub. Popped in on a Saturday afternoon and it was quiet. £6.80 for a lovely Mahou. The chips were great! Only downside was it had had lots of TVs on showing BBC news which was unnecessary and a bit distracting.

Had lunch yesterday with my family, we love coming there for lunch, we had few celebrations overthere but this time the food was a let down ! We were very disappointed because we were looking for the menu with the Indian twist, last time we had the lamb burger with Indian's spices it was fantastic! But this time a very tipical pub menu ! The portion was very large but everything was very salted 😔! A lot of fried stuff and sauces ..... Not very interesting menu to be honest, which is a shame because the atmosphere is always super nice and relaxing ! Will be back at some point but not for the food

I really enjoy this pub as one of the five or so that is near my office. I have never eaten here so can only comment on it as a drinking spot, and for that, it is a very good pub. When the weather is good, the outdoor area is a lovely spot to sit in and when the weather is grim, you get the dual choice of the pub bar area and the backside that is slightly more like a dining room. The only thing that I dislike about the pub is that you do sometimes have strange people opening and closing the windows constantly, putting their snacks on chairs, and all those such slightly odd things that don't really make it a bad place to be, but just prevent it from being a five out of five pub.

An unreconstructed pub that's affordable and hospitable in an otherwise expensive part of town. Good range of ales and beers and nice outside seating area where you can sit and watch the world go by. Staff are friendly and there's a good selection of board games and such.

Came in as staying in a nearby hotel. Wasn’t too bad. Staff not overly talkative when engaging in conversation. Lovely outside seating area; inside seating whilst with lovely decor, felt awkward & clicky as we weren’t local. Not a bad little pub on the whole. Didn’t have food but the food being served whilst we were there looked great!

We were staying nearby this pub for 5 days and went in a few times. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had drinks one night with some bar snacks and another time had pizzas, 5 stars. Could imagine this becoming our local if we lived nearby.

Very friendly welcome, clean place, pleasant experience for a drink or for fish and chips.

I work nearby and today I ordered 2 chicken salads and sweet potatoe fries for me and a client , it was fantastic, so fresh and tasty I have never had such a good salad out of my own home full of colour and variety Will be ordering again next week I have always found the staff pleasant , and they are always asking for feed back to improve etc And the cleanest pub toilets in London!!

Very friendly service in a great atmosphere. My daughter and I went for dinner, and were pleased with our experience. I had the fish and chips, and it was spot on. My picky daughter had chicken strips, and enjoyed them. The staff was super helpful to this American tourist.

Mixed feelings about this visit. Pros: Ambience is wonderful. Staff were very friendly. Food was good (and dessert was fantastic). Cons: I came with a very large group (40+). We had pre-ordered our meals, but they weren’t prepared to handle us -they probably needed to bring on extra staff. Also, many of our party were elderly (over 70) , and the bathrooms are up a steep flight of stairs.

The barman was wonderful smiley and attentive! We tried their tequila slushy incredible…will be making the Hanson Cab our local 😍

Brought a tour group from America to enjoy a traditional English pub dinner. We were not disappointed!! The food was delicious-we had fish/chips, steak/ale pie, chicken/leek pie, burgers and a delicious avocado/quinoa salads. The chocolate cake dessert was a fabulous way to end the meal! The service was friendly, prompt and efficient with our large group. The atmosphere was enjoyable! Highly recommend!

1st meal after our flight into London. sat outside, very tasty meals and great service. We mentioned we had a birthday in the group and we were served cheesecake with candles to mark the occasion. Highly recommend this pub.

An absolutely wonderful retro environment, excellent cuisine, a large selection of beer and other non-alcoholic drinks... definitely worth a visit.

We booked a table and watched Netherlands v England in Euro2024 semi final. A great atmosphere and a crowded bar but excellent service. Next time we are in Kensington, we will be back.

Visited this pub many times over the years. It is a great pub and the staff are always ever so friendly. The food is always great. The pub is also dog friendly with treats available. Always have a good time when we come here.

Ive lived in the area for 5 years and used to frequently go to the Hansom Cab. It was run by a lovely Italian family and the service, food and atmosphere was fantastic. The ownership changed a few years ago and unfortunately the pub has gone downhill. The food and drinks are extortionate, even more expensive than the famous Scarsdale tavern round the corner, and the food is what you would expect from an airport pub or a weatherspoons. Paying £21 for the burger (including service) is laughable once you see it in front of you (if you don’t laugh you might cry). The staff used to be very friendly and charismatic, but it is now lacking any kind of charm and the staff seem quite abrupt if not rude. We’ve tried the pub a few times since the ownership changed with the hopes that it would improve but to no avail. Unfortunately I don’t imagine we’ll be back which is a real shame To add - they add a service charge when you order a pint from the bar which is, without exaggerating, criminal

Awful awful experience. Food was far too expensive (£30 for a burger and a pint) and made me ill. The service was appalling.

Just wonderful. Get away from the high prices on Kensington high street and come get some good food and beer for a good price.

The pub had a dreadful cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. Really surprising in view of its illustrious past. The management have absolutely no idea about customer service. People go to pubs for a social experience as well as a drink. They did not understand that.

Great little pub. Solid English pub food and generous servings. Can recommend the ale pie. Fish and chips were gargantuan. Not badly priced. Off the major road near Kensington High Street with a great atmosphere. Service great and barman checked to ensure everything was ok with the meals. Good beer selection.

Great value, tasty food in a cosy atmosphere. Staff were friendly and accommodating, particularly Denise, who helped us celebrate my partner's birthday by putting a candle in his beef and ale pie : ) 😆 We'll definitely be back for family get togethers in the future.

Very convenient place to stay. Beautiful hotel. Nice safe location. Everything you need within walking distance. A 10 minute walk from Earls Court station. My sister and I walked in the pouring rain, with luggage, and survived without incident (we are in our late 50’s). Cedric at the front desk is outstanding, and the rest of the hotel staff extremely

Our family stopped here for Sunday roast after we couldn't get a table at our usual spot. We were very pleasantly surprised with our experience. The server was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. The only constructive feedback I would offer is to maybe play some music as it felt very quiet in the pub and lacked some ambiance. Otherwise, everything was great and we would definitely return!

In the area on vacation and looked for a pub nearby that served English fare. We tried this place and we enjoyed it. We had the steak and ale pie (photo is pre gravy pour) with creamy mashed potatoes and (non-mushy) peas. We were asked several times how the food was and it was really good. Drinks were good. Place was clean.

Decent prices, amazing food, nice outdoor area for summer drinks and Shruti was particularly attentive and made sure we always had a drink in hand! Great service!

Nice little pub - steak and ale pie was delicious

I randomly popped in to The handsome cab few days ago, and the pub looked amazing, the atmosphere was second to none ...not to mention stuff was extremely friendly and customer service focused at all times,..., However, I had to personally compliment the chef (MAS ) as the food I had ( , Chicken Burger with Chips ) was so tasty and delicious ...the chips in particular can t even describe how flavour rich they were, could not stop eating them to be honestly to good to say the least. I definitely and highly recommend the food but also the brand New peach beer they have introduced recently stood out for me ...with a summery peach fresh flavour perfect for the upcoming sunny days 😁 hopefully soon approaching. PS don t take my words for it just go there and try the all lot for yourself 😜

Shock !!! Came in with my kids for family lunch.. the food was amazing as always. But not once have I heard such a disgusting language by the staff and on top of the fact that kids were there during lunch time! If your not kids friendly then you should state that on your website!! It’s really a shame. I won’t be coming back for sure.

Prices are a bit steep for what they offer. Food is okay, the burgers were a toss up, either overcooked or undercooked. Plus a service fee on the bill.

Nice location close to the bus stop. That's why we had a beer there. Unfortunately, 2 our of the 4 beers have not had a good temperature. That has a negative impact on the great selection of beer they have there.

The house white wine is horrible! It is diluted and they have even tried to offer me another option to change the wine…

Had my worst ever drink served in a pub at this place! I ordered a Diet Coke and the lady serving said "Are you sure? You definitely want a Diet Coke?". It was bizarre, but when the drink arrived I realised why, it tasted like soap and chemicals (Even more than Diet Coke normally does). I took it back and explained the issue and the lady said "Yes, I thought it was strange that you ordered Diet". I asked if I could have another one and she and the guy behind the counter explained it would "just taste the same". Bizarre. Obviously there was some issue with the keg or something, it was probably almost empty or had gone bad somehow. I have had this once before somewhere else and the staff apologised, explained and changed the keg and got me another one. Didn't happen in this pub. Didn't offer me a refund either. I tried to persist with drinking it but admitted defeat about half way through the pint. The first time I've ever been to a pub and not finished the first drink! Nice ambience but obviously run by people who don't know what they're doing or more likely just don't care. Went somewhere else and wont be back!

Came here for a Sunday Roast and was not dissapointed! It was quite quiet when we came but service was brilliant. Food was lovely for a reasonable price (about £18 per roast). Everything was cooked to perfection and there was a decent selection of drinks. Would recommend :)

Nice location not sure what kind of vibe the pub as…good beer selection… food I can recommend from my experience… the fish and chips wasn’t cooked….the manager didn’t really know what to do… as specially I didn’t want a new one after 20 minutes for the first one… when it 9pm not to busy…not coming back

We popped in for a drink. We really liked this place. They do a good Guinness according to my husband. My G&T was nice. Dilly chips were great. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. We will return.

A very bland and uninteresting pub with no atmosphere. There are much better pub options nearby including the Britannia in Allen Street or the Scarsdale on the other side of the square.

Great place and great ambience with nice indian people working behind the bar. Abhi and Wilma were very kind and friendly as bartenders helped me choose from the menu and told me about their fish and chips from their menu was one of their best food served there and it was absolutely amazing. Havent had such great fish n chips anywhere in london. Enjoyed my time there and relished the food and drinks. Definitely will return

Enjoyed a good meal here after a day in London. We were staying nearby so decided to try it. It was better than traditional pub food. I had the fish and chips which was hot and prepared just right. Husband had a burger which also was good. Service was great as was the atmosphere. Not too crowded.

Seemed a decent pub, had a good pint of hazy IPA in there (I think Goose Island?) and an outdoor seating area on the road. Could easily see a sunny Saturday afternoon session there. Sausage-flavoured crisps piqued my interest also.

Nice little smart pub in a quiet residential area. Nice little bit of outside decking for a bit more outside space. Perfect for a quiet pint with friends.

Today I received an email stating that they have cancelled my booking for someone else..this is with full knowledge of offering a deposit in which they refused to take. They have tarnished my girlfriends 40th birthday plans and have been so unprofessional it's unbelievable. Such disgusting treatment. If this is how you treat people, don't bother booking here at all.
