Han's in Harborough

Cold food, starters are of poor quality, more like frozen bites one can purchase in a Supermarket. Duck was stringy and cold. Main courses were small and Luke warm. If one eats after 9pm and pay in cash, cost is at a concession rate. All in all a poor experience compared to how it was years ago.

Such a friendly place to go with outstanding food. Great to see an authentic experience in the countryside maintained and enjoyed by so many. We loved the staff who spent a lot of time with us making sure we had everything we needed. They made some excellent recommendations for our tastes. It was very well priced as well. We will definitely be going back soon.

Visited the Han tonight east the best experience felt we were being rushed when the main course came half of it was cold and the price they charge it should be top notch had better takeaway meals won’t rush back

Spacious well decorated restaurant centrally located. Two course lunch for £6.50 which is unbelievable value for money. I had the sesame prawn toast followed by beef Curry with rice. My friend had the spring rolls and chicken with cashew nuts. All very tasty and plenty of it. You will not get better value than this and it was served with a smile!

All the great ambience, great food and service are very much present here at Phil and Han's restaurant.... The COVID menu is in the rear view mirror and nearly all the old favourites are firmly represented. A real old stalwart of the Market Harborough restaurant scene in the beautiful town that is Market Harborough.

This restaurant is by far the best value in market Harborough for quality fresh and delicious food. At 12.50 for three courses and the option of vegan or vegetarian tofu dishes is remarkable.

Loved our recent visit. Food not salty or sugary, great flavours. Kung Po chicken and Chilli Beef excellent. Young lad serving very attentive.

Me and my wife had a wonderful dinner before we went home. Food is amazing, service is fast, friendly staff, and the venue is calming and comfortable. Will definitely go here again soon.

We went to Han today as a family for the first time. We have a 14 year old and 12 year old twins. The staff were very attentive and a lady even gave us a chopsticks lesson! The food was amazing. Highly recommended.

My family been customers of Han for many years and always rated it. Had a takeaway which was fine but very disappointed to receive a phone call two hours after collecting the meal saying that I hadn’t paid. I obviously had ( by cash - in excess of £80) and feel that the matter should have been resolved in-house by checking with all staff rather than calling the customer and making an accusation of non- payment. Ruined a nice meal ( and a family celebration) and would make me think twice about ordering from this restaurant again. Very disappointed ☹️

staff where very kind. i had a young lad serving us our food in the widow seat in the back corner of the restaurant, the young lad was telling us how he was going to be a pilot and seemed like a lovely lad. it also came to my notice that i heard a table of 3 women planning that they where going to leave a bad review ect and i thought that that was horrible to hear. i then come onto trip advisor to see that they had wrote a review about the young boy who was chewing gum when serving their table. i can say this is wrong as i was watching him serve their food and can say he was not chewing gum at that moment of time he was being nothing but polite to the table and did nothing wrong and should get a praise since he handled a very busy night very well. he came over with a younger lady later on in the night that seemed like she was new and was teaching her how to serve food and then set tables next to us and was a lovely bright young lad who i hope to see there again soon and can talk to about his flying again as that was very interesting

First time here, and probably our last. Food was ok, service very slow - they had school kids serving which was weird as they appeared to still be in their school uniforms, the young lad chewed gum horribly all night and definitely needs to improve on serving skills. Lacks atmosphere Will stick the the Thai garden rothwell in the future

Food excellent , however boys that serving people making a jokes and constantly staring making costumers feel really uncomfortable I will never visit that place again .

Han catered for our dietary requirements - we had a vegan and a gluten free diet in our group and both were looked after amazingly. I had the Monks Banquet vegan-ised and it was the best Chinese food ever. Thank you for a lovely evening!

I usually love going to Han, but our recent Saturday evening trip was disappointing primarily due to very slow service. Whilst the starter came quite quickly it was nearly 30 mins before it was cleared and then only when we asked. Drinks service very poor after the first time - simply couldn't get anyone's attention. The neighbouring table arrived before us and were only getting their food order taken as we finished our starter. The available staff were working hard, but too few and it seemed the problem was a lack of management of arrivals schedules - large parties in very quick succession, so the restaurant was almost full of new tables at 7pm. Only one lady seemed to be taking orders and payments.

We went for a meal on Wednesday the night before lock down six of us and although the menu had far less choice than usual it was very good. they were very busy as everyone was trying to get one last night out before lockdown so the service was slower than usual but the food was very good hot and tasty

Went to Han to Celebrate my husbands Birthday us two and and our younger son. Had the Han Banquet which was excellent. Food was delicious and well presented and we had a lovely evening. Tables very well spaced out hand sanitiser everywear and staff all wearing visors. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

We booked a table at the Han for my sons birthday.All family with ages range from 76 - 6 months. A lovely variety of food which was wonderfully prepared and very tasty - family members who had never eaten at the Han said it was some of the best Chinese food they had eaten. Staff very friendly and the service was pretty quick. A great night.

Great night, Started with drinks, the Fireworks Then Food, the the dragon dancing, then more food. A respite for conversation then MORE FOOD. Overall a really good night. The staff were polite, helpful and obliging. We shall go again.

Han Chinese was a new experience for me, and one I won’t forget. The food was exceptional, with every dish I ordered better than the last. The service was lovely, with very friendly and helpful staff. It is a beautiful place to eat out... can’t wait to return!

It's probably the best place in Harborough for Chinese - by the fact you get proper Chinese! No messing around, the food is fabulous and it's worth a trip there to try. Great service, great drinks and the service isn't rushed. Will always come back!

The food was nothing amazing just the same as any other Chinese, the drinks choice terrible only one gin green Gordon’s and wine selections not very good unless you buy a bottle. The phone rang all night and no one answered it as so busy on a Saturday to take orders, but no back ground music either just the ringing off the phone!!

I have been a regular here for many years and never reviewed this place however was here last week with another friend of mine.

Not as good as it has been in the past and quite pricey. Chinese Restaurants need to up their game generally and Han is no exception. OK, but shan't rush back.

Had a table for two almost a year since my last visit... As always we had our favourite item the Han Banquet... It has changed a little since last year, presentation was a little slack compared to previous years and the first course being split into two courses seems a little pointless... And we did have to ask plates to eat off! Value for money as good as always but lacking the usual polish... Hopefully normal service will be resumed next visit.

The good wasn't anything special but it was quite nice and not too expensive. The service was a bit haphazard but O.K. Not too expensive so, overall, quite a pleasant evening was had.

Food was incredible and staff are very friendly, I come here very often with my family and would highly recommend. They are also exceptional at catering for people with allergies!

A very elegant reception area (for takeaway customers) gives way to rather awkward stairs to the upstairs room, but then the pleasure really begins. The main courses were plentiful. piping hot, and excellent, as was the personal service. Very well done, will recommend to others. We wish this restaurant was in our town!

I bring customers here for lunch all the time, great lunchtime menu and always great food, nice big tables so you can have a working lunch and most of all my customers love it as they are from all over the world.

Came here for a meal Saturday night with friends. The staff coped brilliantly even with a full restaurant. Quality of food is brilliant, worth every penny! Will be returning very soon.

Four of us had a meal here in April 2018 and enjoyed it so much that we booked and returned again in May.

Well priced and good portions. Their food is light on grease and that's hard to find in a Chinese food spot. The crispy aromatic duck is what impressed me the most. There was a food orchestra in my mouth and my taste-buds were going crazy and it definitely left me wanting for more.

I decided to try Chinese food during my trip in Leicestershire, England and relatives highly recommended that I try Han Chinese Restaurant. As soon as me and my relatives arrived, we were nicely greeted and seated right away. I ordered the Ming platter and I consider it one of the best meal I've ever had! Food quality is remarkable and fresh. Lots of dishes also to choose from. The staff is very attentive and I can't believe I ate so much! We will be back because this place is well worth the drive!

After an afternoon gin making at Two Birds we rounded off our day with a meal at Han. We chose the Han Banquet brilliant value for money and so much food we couldn't finish it all. As good as previous visits.

First off, I am a regular and will definitely be coming back for more! I came here for dinner with friends and was SUPER SATISFIED with the food. I have always found the dishes to be of a consistently high standard and of great flavor. We also appreciated that they have great amount variety on the menu both from the dinner set and the 'a' la Carte Menu that gives us the opportunity to have a taste of other dishes every time. Its a delight to have a very pleasant dining experience! You won't get anything wrong here both with the food and the service which is very friendly and welcoming!

Ordered a set meal for two people at a cost of £32 (discounted for cash .... hmm, not sure what the Vat man makes of that)! Food was bland, tasteless and comprised a poor medley of uninteresting dishes. An absolute rip off.

Since Clarence had left the customer service has gone downhill. However when the main owner is there his hosting skills are good and restores the bad customer service from the young lady.

Love this place.It had a refurb sine I last visited and it looks really nice inside. Food is great and reasonably priced. The staff are amazing too, so kind and really looked after us. The seafood noodles were just lovely.

I have been here a number of times now over the years. The food is amazing, the staff are helpful but it is pricey. I would still recommend and always enjoy an evening out at Hans.

Upstairs from what at first sight appears to be just a smart takeaway, Hans is superb. Beautifully decorated and furnished, this is most certainly a cut above the average. Our food was absolutely superb, service very good and value for money superb. A wonderful place...

We visited Han for a department night out. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. All of the food I tried was delicious. The service was prompt and efficient and the drinks were reasonably priced. I look forward to returning with my family.

Went with friends for meal. Have been a few times and always enjoyed the food. This time the food was decent but no more. The service was adequate but not great as it has been previously. We were served mainly by two young people. One male , one female. They were pleasant and tried but weren't very precise. The food was not up to its usual high quality. Don't get me wrong it was ok , but Hans used to be amazing every time.

In my opinion the food served was is no better than your standard Chinese takeaway but you get charged double the price. Their menu with prices should be displayed in the window on entrance to the building - it isn't!! If the food was of a better, higher quality I have no objection to paying a higher price. On paying the bill the pdq machine ran out of paper but said the transaction was authorised. The waitress who i assume was the manageress naturally replaced the receipt roll and tried to charge me again explaining that due to no receipt being printed no transaction could have been possible. I was furious at this and disputed it but again she put my card into the machine, twice again trying to charge me. After telephoning my bank confirming the transaction did go through she backed down. Upon leaving the premises my other half who isn't one for conflict informed me that the manageress made note of my card details including the 3 digit code on the signature strip on her notepad, without my consent. If i find any further transactions are taken from my account I will have to inform the authorities. Oh and £3.80 for a pint of flat Coca Cola, joke!!

Previously this was about the best restaurant in town, but my latest visit was rather disappointing- the banquet we ordered was smaller in quantity and had significantly less meat/seafood in the dishes.This restaurant has never been the cheapest but the quality shone out - now it seems rather ordinary, but the prices remain high!

A very disappointing meal with friends yesterday. Thought we would treat ourselves to a proper Chinese rather than takeaway but left very disappointed.I'll keep it brief as that's all it deserves. The service was undertaken by a couple of young folks who tried their best but neither were experienced and were left explaining and apologising for some issues that needed a managerial touch.We ordered scallops, after a few minutes the young lady had to return to say they had none. We ordered sea bass, another few minutes she comes back, they have none.This is a Saturday night - apparently they were busy on the takeaway side as well as the restaurant .......but you don't run out of 2 major ingredients on the menu. Having neither meant a large percentage of dishes were unavailable.The thing is, this isn't a cheap place - you shouldn't run out of certain stocks - especially not 2 of the seafood items. If it happens the management should take over and apologise.....we didn't see anyone in charge nor hear from them. The young lady did her best but was out of her comfort zone as we were not happy.No recognition of issues when we left....so we left for good and won't be back.

What a delicious meal!We shared hot and sour soup and Peking dumplings as a starter which were great.The wasabi beef and the Sichuan hot pepper special with lamb, char Sui and squid was amazing! I totally recommend it! Desserts we're okay, a bit 70s but fun nonetheless.Will tell anyone who will listen to try it!

Arrived at 8pm. Drinks order not taken until 8.20. Had the Han banquet. Nothing special. Platter arrived about 8.45. 2nd course arrived 9.30. By 10 pm I had to ask how long the main course was going to be which arrived at 10.15 pm. We picked at this having waited so long, asked for it to be packed up and took it home. Disappointing evening to celebrate a birthday. We will not be rushing back.

20 years ago, when I first moved into the area, this was THE restaurant to go to. Ideal for special occasions. More expensive than the average, but well worth it. Somehow, it's not really moved on and other places in the area are offering a more premium dining experience. The food is still great, better than most Chinese restaurants and the service from mostly young staff is spot-on. But no burners supplied so your food goes cold. A great shame. Such a little thing to put right. Also you ask for wine by the glass and you get house wine. No choice. This was a surprise. And my wife asked for a gin & tonic. Again no choice. Just standard gin (presumably) and mass-market tonics. With so many great new and local gins available, this lack of imagination detracts from the overall experience. I still think that with a bit of effort, this could become a great 5-star eating establishment again. It'll be interesting to see what happens. But it was only 1/3 full on a Friday night and by about 9:30 there was only one table of guests left. It used to be much busier.

Having read a few mixed reviews about price and service I was unsure what to expect; thank goodness we found out for ourselves. A beautiful place to dine, service was efficient and friendly and most importantly, the food was plentiful, delicious and superb value for money. Having moved north from London a year ago it was a relief to be eating somewhere special, especially somewhere serving authentic dishes with strong, pungent flavours and aromas. The marbled lamb with chilli was truly divine, and I must say one of the finest dishes of its kind I have eaten. We left very full, ordered plentifully and shared a bottle of wine and the bill was only £60. I have no idea where the idea that Han is expensive comes from, and to suggest overpriced is crazy - I can only assume those finding issue are making comparison to nasty msg packed takeaways in cheap foil and plastic dishes, in which case you may as well compare the finest Brie De Meaux with a Dairylea triangle. I can't wait to return, as I cannot praise the place highly enough - with the exception of Hunan in Belgravia, the best meal of its type I have been lucky enough to enjoy, and at a quarter of the price there is no praise too high for Han.

I had an awful Chinese food at a restaurant some 20 years ago and it put me off Chinese food and at another one in York. This was my first attempt at Chinese takeaway. We have a Chinese guest from Hong Kong and She enjoyed it and ate most of her Mandarin Beef. We had spring rolls and shared a King Prawn Chow Mein. I was pleasantly surprised by the dish. I wish I came with some sauce and vegetables. The prawns were cooked perfectly as I just can't eat over cooked chewy ones. There quite a few prawns which was great as we shared the dish. The dish lacked colour but definitely not flavour. Those were really lovely noodles not like you get in supermarkets. It's little or no wonder why Chinese eat noodles! They're yum. I definitely recommend and it's little surprise why my step daughter enjoyed the food here too.

Excellent food, the service was first class - all in all I could not fault Han's. We will definitely be back.

We ate lunch here during the week the other day. We were delighted to find that, in addition to their simple lunch menu, they were also happy for us to choose from their full evening menu. The food was excellent, well cooked, delightfully presented, and very tasty and there was plenty of it. The only criticism was that, although the food was served piping hot, there were no food warmers to keep the dishes hot, so the food went cold before we'd finished. It was very quiet at lunchtime so we had good swift service.

Our party chose one of the set meals for four with drinks extra. Every course was delivered in a friendly and efficient manner with almost perfect timing between courses. The food was well presented, fresh and tasty; with plenty of it.

This is my first bad review!We went out for a family members birthday. 15 of us were cramped round a table that should have only sat 10. Although busy service was really slow, and the menu confusing.When starters did finally arrive not only was one missed two were left on another table to go cold whilst the waitress went to answer the phone (which was ringing constantly) the missed starter arrived when everyone else had finished theirs and that was only because we had to ask again for it. Some of our party had duck for a middle course, which the other half of the table didn't realise was an option so we had to sit hungry and watch whilst the others ate even though we were asked if we wanted the other mains out and we'd said yes. We had to wait. If you order the same rice as someone else be prepared to share; people who had egg fried rice had 2 spoons each whilst the people that had something different got a massive bowl to them selves. At one point I ordered a drink (a coke) that never arrived so ten minutes later I had to ask again. I have been to few Chinese restaurants and have never been to one where the service was so awful. Even Chinese buffet places have better service than this place. Never again!

I ate here a couple of months ago. The food was delicious but on the pricey side. 1 mains and drinks cost over £50. However, the decor is incredible. The food was fresh and delivered quickly. Staff were also friendly and helpful. I would recommend booking a table as it can be very busy.

No atmosphere here, staff not very welcoming and food not good quality for the price, will not return

The cost was over priced for the quality of food and drinks served, they only serve bottled lager which came in a glass already poured and was flat had to ask for replacements. The food was over priced and not as tasty as other restaurants we have used. The waiters could also do with some training as not very hospitable.

Great food & excellent service. Easy to drive past without noticing as the shop front is fairly small (restaurant is on the first floor), but definitely worth visiting.

Slightly disappointed with this Chinese restaurant, we came here for our Christmas works do, the food was very nice, but just lacked in atmosphere, all the staff looked miserable which was a shame. I wouldn't be in a rush to go back their.

The food here is always good - we particularly like the crispy duck, sizzling beef with onions and the salt and pepper prawns are lovely. Service always quick. A great place to eat.

As usual Hans takeaway food excellent. Sweet and sour chicken balls fab along with the chicken noodles.

A generally unpleasant experience which was emphasised by the shocking attitude of the manager. We have been customers of Han for some years without any disappointment. They are considerably more expensive than other rival restaurants/takeaways in the area which should be reflected in the quality of their food. Not anymore apparently! Some of the dishes we ordered seemed rushed, lacking sufficient portions of meat and just not as nice as we expect. When I raised a complaint, the manager did not accept my critisicm and implied that I was lying "to take advantage", then refused to speak to me in front of other customers... I could not beleive her ignorance! I tried to explain further but in no way, would she accept anything I had to say, there was even an attempt to convince me that 'she' cooked the dish in order to defend their inadequacies! Reluctantly, a refund was eventually given but in my opinion, Han is doomed unless they change their incompetent management. Avoid this place because their standards and service have declined severely (though they won't accept hearing this from the people that keep them in business).

Wow what a wonderful restaurant. Family members have coeliac and so wouldn't normally go to a Chinese restaurant and in past always told cannot do much to cater for them.Not at this restaurant! Gluten free menu with a huge selection and delicious tasting. In fact we all had gluten free so we could share more dishes. Lovely helpful staff.Will definitely go back.

Finding good gf Chinese food is not easy- yet surprisingly the chefs did a great job of making authentic and tasty gf Chinese food- BBQ ribs were possibly the best I have had!However beyond the food was the service of the staff who were extremely helpful and attentive and made for a great family birthday celebration.I would definitely recommend!

My husband and I eat out a lot and have lived in this area for over 35 years. Han used to be a very good restaurant on the last 2/3 vistas ee have noticed the service going down hill, the place is looking tired. We decided to give it another go tonight to be served by youngsters one of them didn't look old enough to be even working they were totally clueless given no training with waitressing knew nothing about the food on the menu. The young waitress even asked if she could leave the used dirty serving spoons for the next course…totally unprofessional. This is not the young waitresses faults as they are not given the training. WE tol one of the chinese members/owners who was not at all bothered about our comments she couldn't even be bothered to bring our change she sent one of the young waitress's the truth hurt! Very over priced for this dreadful service will not be eating there again we would rather travel to Thai Garden in Rothwell where the management , staff food and service are faultless never had to complain once in the 18 years of dining there. This restaurant has had its day I,m afraid.

Both me & my other half eat out a lot. We live locally & are new to Harborough. We felt the dishes were nice, the service is good.. BUT it is far to over priced for the size of the dishes. Wow- talk about take advantage because you are in Harborough. Wouldn't get away with that in Leicester

I have been coming to Han's for many years now and the staff, atmosphere and food are excellent! Great place to eat with friends not too overcrowded and staff extremely attentive. Small tip if you want to eat a good meal a little cheaper then go before 7pm as there is a different menu although you are more restricted on choice 10/10

We nearly didn't go in as we thought the small ground floor counter was just a takeaway. The restaurant is upstairs, very tastefully decorated and furnished with a spacious, friendly atmosphere and non-intrusive background music. Very civilised clientele too. Service was excellent and friendly. Our meals were excellent, most certainly a cut above the average. We'll go back.

I had a meal here with my husband at the end of a weekend away. It was recommended to us by some people in our hotel who had dined there the previous evening. It was a very quiet Sunday evening and soon we were the only diners remaining. What a shame that was as the food was excellent. A very comprehensive menu to choose from. I was impressed when we were asked whether we had any food allergies. Those are the attentions to detail that make a difference. The food was delicious and the quantities large. The service could not be faulted, being discreet and non-intrusive. We would certainly return if ever we were in Market Harborough.

We took our elderly mother to Han's to celebrate her birthday and whilst it took some time to get her up the stairs to the restaurant we had a great time.The staff were very friendly and professional and the food was really good we had one of there banquets which is a good way of tasting lots of different flavours.This is and always has been a very good Chinese restaurant.Not the cheapest but good value !!
