Hanover Street Social in Liverpool

Visited today for the Sunday roast — unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The roast beef consisted of just three pathetic slices, each barely 1 mm thick. I honestly put more meat in my sandwiches at home. Definitely not worth the money.

Main meals are very standard. The Christmas dinner was also very bland and not very nice at all with very little to no greens on plate sorry to say. On a separate visit from December, the sea bass and chicken parmentier were not great and lacked in taste and also presentation. However, I think the starters were very nice and far better than the mains, so if (a big if) I did go back I may do tapas. However, the service was attentive and quick with some staff very polite and respectful.

Good place for a group dinner. Good and service were good. I had a Maltesers creme brulee which sounded more exciting than it was!

Lovely place, amazing food and fantastic staff. Giselle stood out in particular always on the ball, always smiling and fantastic knowledge on the menu when my friend and I was unsure. Cannot wait to be back.

We were looking for a place to eat a good English dish, the restaurant may not have the hidden charm of old pubs but it was delicious! The quality/price ratio was very good and the service was fast and very pleasant!

Nunca necesitas una razón para ir a Hanover Street Social. Pero aquí hay uno de todos modos. Es lunes por la noche y se puede disfrutar de 2 platos con una botella de vino por persona todo por £ 32. 50 cada uno. Inmejorable. Hay 3 cosas que buscar en un restaurante para que su experiencia gastronómica sea memorable. Comida de buena calidad, precios asequibles y el ambiente perfecto. Hanover Street Social tiene estos en abundancia. Lo que eleva este restaurante a excelente es su servicio. Comienza con el cálido saludo al entrar y esta amabilidad continúa durante toda la noche. Una mención especial debe ir a nuestro servidor, Gisele. Era absolutamente increíble, muy atenta y siempre sonriente, un crédito total para ella y la organización. Gracias. En cuanto a la comida. Tenía el salmón frito y la lubina y mi esposa tenía el pollo asado. Ambos absolutamente deliciosos. Dos botellas de Sauvignon Blanc junto con tablas de queso terminaron lo que fue una excelente noche. La próxima vez en Liverpool me aseguraré de reservar aquí de nuevo.

I had the Honey & Chilli crispy chicken wings, 40oz min Steak & Baileys cheesecake 3 course @£24.95 The chicken wings are one of the best I've had anywhere. Right amount of sweet & spicy, meat juicy n soft, fell right of the wings. Steak & fries were average. Cheesecake was very rich n creamy. Staff were friendly and attentive. I would come back again.

Estuvo aquí antes hace unos años de nuevo en 2025 para el Gran Festival Nacional. Fuimos dos veces en 2 días ya que el precio era razonable. Llegamos temprano, así que tuvimos el menú de almuerzo establecido que incluía un entrante / postre y un principal por £ 19. 95 . Tengo las alitas como entrada tan sabrosas y buena cantidad de alitas para la porción. Tomé una hamburguesa de queso doble que también era sabroso. Volvimos el jueves por la noche donde me dieron un filete de costilla con patatas fritas y salsa de pimienta en grano y se cocinó justo y simplemente se derritió en su boca: Muy recomendable.

Mi marido y yo tuvimos una tarde encantadora para mi cumpleaños a finales de marzo. Kev nos cuidó como siempre, increíble. La hamburguesa con un extra de tocino estaba deliciosa y el pescado con patatas fritas eran geniales, el pescado era como una ballena. Una visita obligada si usted está visitando Liverpool - es nuestro lugar favorito.

If you have plans ditch them and head here. This was our first visit and chose to go on the Monday offer night. I have no idea how they do it...the food was top notch complimented by pretty decent drinkable wine all seasoned with excellent attentive hospitality. This will be a definite 'go to' venue !

We stopped in for a meal after a day out and the staff were welcoming and friendly - Food was wonderful, I had the pork belly, and the custard ice-cream for dessert. Would definitely recommend!

This is a brilliant place for a meal and drink.The food choice on the fixed price set menu offers a very tasty looking choice.(all at a very reasonable price ). The service is second to none - friendly,attentive yet not intrusive.The food is the best I have had for a long time,we will be back very soon.Cannot wait.

Great place to enjoy very good food and drinks with friends 🧡 They also have an early bird menu so you pay less before 5 or 6pm. Can't remember which one 🤔 You are in for a treat.

Booked in for the express menu for our anniversary. George made it extra special by arranging a dessert specially for us at the end. Food was tasty and the service was excellent.

I made a booking for 2 and we were ushered to our table. As it was Sunday and we as tourists ordered a simple Sunday roast, one beef and one roast. After an hour, we inquired on our order to be met with the question ‘what did you order?’ Then we were told they could serve the beef but the chicken would take 30 mins and this was okay. This is not okay so then the waiter offered a dessert. Seriously? We politely declined and left the restaurant.

After waiting over an hour for our simple order of Sunday roast beef and chicken we asked the status of our order. The follow on question was what did you order? Thereafter we were told that they could serve the beef order and 30 minutes later the chicken. We are a couple so this was not what we wanted. Thereafter they offered a free dessert. Seriously after screwing up the order, does anyone want to stay longer in a ridiculous place. The funny thing was that it wasn’t even busy. Joke of a place, avoid it

Fish and chips, pot pie, blood sausage. All were the best we have had in Liverpool. Would 100% come back for their food. Service was great and friendly. Plan to stay for at least an hour. They aren't there to rush you out.

Qué bar tan encantador y una gran relación calidad-precio. Visitamos en nuestro tercer día en Liverpool y comimos del menú de almuerzo exprés. Tenemos relación calidad-precio 5 / 5 , servicio 5 / 5 . La comida sin duda 5 / 5. Comimos en 3 lugares diferentes durante todo nuestro fin de semana que van desde £ 160 tres platos / £ 90 tres platos y aquí £ 45 tres platos y Esta fue la mejor comida que tuvimos. La presentación fue como comer en 5 *, el tamaño de las porciones era grande y el personal era increíble. La única desventaja era que era ruidoso, pero cuando comes en algún lugar que está anunciando un espacio para socializar lo que esperas! Comparado con el precio superior donde el ambiente era más ambiente / romántico i wouufl elegir Aquí por gusto / servicio y presentación esto fue mucho nuestro favorito durante los tres días. Incluso nos reímos de no Salsa morena (nosotros los escoceses necesitamos HP) independientemente de qué comida ¡Hora! Sugerencia sólo trae unos sobres.

Had a really nice meal with friends at Hanover Street Social. The portion sizes are decent and there's lots of choice on the menu both for food and drinks. The service was quick despite them being busy on a Saturday night so it's a great spot for food close to the city centre if you're in the Liverpool area. Also reasonably priced! :)

Lovely meal at Hanover Street Social with really friendly staff. Great service, we enjoyed the Grilled Stornoway black pudding and Mediterranean vegetable soup for starters, and then Pan roasted chicken breast with parmentier potatoes, and Baked arrabbiata gnocchi to which we were able to add chicken. All delicious!

Last visited here about 8 years ago, fab then and still fab now! Great service from the front of house team and a great lunchtime menu. Would highly recommend this place as it was faultless today!

Nice friendly staff , arrived with no booking on Valentines night , family of four . We were given a table to our suprise. Great service ,varied menu for all tastes . Nice choices of cocktails & beers . Good location while exploring area . Recommend!

We visited on Sunday, and I really enjoyed their service and meals. Since they offer a set Sunday course menu, regular menu items aren’t available that day. I found it a bit overpriced, as other restaurants usually have lower prices on Sundays.

My wife and I fancied a Sunday lunch after a busy weekend in Liverpool and this did not disappoint. Lovely place, Lovely staff and both our starters were delicious and the beef roasts were amazing. I had the Stornaway black pudding, haggis and hash brown, as my starter and it was gorgeous.

Outstanding food, though could have been better with a little more sauce in the pie and nicer steaks. That said, the beer was nice, and the service was excellent. Recommended. Stu

Left a bit disappointed, went with my family on a Sunday afternoon and had 2 courses for £26.95. My son had double Pattie burger which he thoroughly enjoyed, me and my wife had a gammon and roast beef Sunday dinner which was good but nothing spectacular and felt it was very overpriced. Although the service was very good, the restaurant was cold inside which wasn’t very pleasant. I don’t think we will be returning in a hurry which is a shame because we have always enjoyed the Hannover street social.

Go for the Sunday Roast special .. friendly and high end service but casual enough to feel welcome.

Went on a Saturday lunch time, 5 adults and one toddler. We all had the 2 course set lunch menu and the kids menu. Thought the kids menu was amazing value at £4.50 for a main and desert! All the food was gorgeous and the staff were great. They were especially attentive to our little boy, the waitress and even the chefs as we were sat in view of the kitchen, all playing lovely with him hiding etc. Would definitely return and would be keen to try the roast dinner after seeing some good reviews! Thank you for providing us with a lovely family lunch out ☺️

Early New Years Eve family meal with my wife and sons. Very good special menu, I chose hummus followed by a rib eye steak...both courses excellent. Staff busy, but all very helpful and smiling. Cannot wait to return.

Had our first visit to Hanover St Social this week. Had heard The Anfield Wrap raving about the place and as we were heading into the city we thought that was a good recommendation. The place was lovely and the staff were amazing. They accomodated us arriving early and our food was absolutely incredible. High end food in a place with a very relaxed atmosphere that didn’t feel pretentious at all. Better still when the bill came the waitress had given us our kids meals free because we had waited a while. We hadn’t noticed the wait as the atmosphere was so good, but it was greatly appreciated. Can’t wait to go back, can’t recommend the place enough.

New Year’s Day set menu this evening. We booked quite late and pleasantly surprised. Opted for two course- mains and desserts. Very accommodating for a nut allergic diner. Care was taken and the staff very welcoming and friendly. Music in the background was good and some real bangers from the 2010s!

Great place to go with a group. Great choice on menu with brilliant friendly staff who are very attentive. Went just before Xmas so was busy and have no reservations about going again.

Lovely meal and excellent service

I booked a table for a special occasion many weeks in advance. When I called to confirm my booking and double check that my dog is going go too. A "gent" said that dogs are not allowed. In my booking reservation it was mentioned and one one contacted me to find a new place to celebrate the special occasion. Thank you for that. One thing I am sure, me and people that I kwon won't go or back to that place.

We ended up at Hanover as our Christmas Do was cancelled last minute with the storm - the team were extremely accommodating, the food was delicious and all around wonderful night! Thank you so much for helping us out so last minute!

It was so nice the food was amazing with it being busy they made it through. I wish it was more light it felt dark inside but it was good. I couldn't hear music tho with customers being loud. Other than that it was great 😊

Great little lunch menu for reasonable price and not just your usual basics, I had the goats cheese and brioche with pear walnuts then the Gnocchi - really delicious! Service was good and efficient despite being VERY busy , brought the kids meal out with starters which was an excellent touch! Great priced kids menu! £4.50 for main course and ice cream! Lovely vibe and very Christmassy, had 2hours for the table so weren’t rushed either, would definitely go back!

The food at Hanover Street Social is absolutely delicious! The service is outstanding, the prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s also family-friendly, so I'll definitely be bringing my friends here for food and drinks next time.

Wonderfull Saturday afternoon meal myself and my wife booked weeks ago and we requested a window seat which they sorted for us sea bass lovely and chicken wings starter amazing service by a Scottish waiter called callum was brilliant helpfull and professional price was very reasonable we got the deal before 4.00 2 course for 22.00 great value for money we will go regularly from now on we'll done

Visited with a friend while on a trip to Liverpool. Nice lively atmosphere the restaurant was nearly full so pleased we had booked a table. They have a separate vegetarian menu which you can ask for with 4 mains choices, I had the nut roast my friend who isn’t a vegetarian had the chicken which she said was beautiful the nut roast was the best I’ve ever had. We had wanted the cheesecake but there wasn’t any left so we had a chocolate brownie and a malteser creme brûlée both of which were beautiful. There was no rush the time between courses was spot on you had time to enjoy your meal. I’d not hesitate in returning if I was back in Liverpool at any point.

Absolutely outstanding. Wonderful service, staff and food. I love the atmosphere. I would say "french bistro". Definitely my type of place. I loved the fact that they couldn't do enough for my gluten free daughter. The supply of food and drink was so nice. And their gluten free menu is worth it. I will be coming back and bringing my family. Very good value for money.

We went here for a family meal last Saturday, I hadn't eaten in here for quite a few years, we pre-booked a table and when we arrived a little bit early, we took a table by the bar until our dining table was free. The bar staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The front of house gentleman, even helped us carry our coats to the table as we had drinks to carry. The staff, food - which was really tasty with an option for everyone and atmosphere made for a really lovely family meal, we really enjoyed it and can't wait to visit again. Thank you!

I have visited Hanover Street Social multiple times for various occasions and it impresses me every time! The food is incredible here and it’s so lovely inside. I’d recommend the roast chicken!

We visited Hanover Street Social in Liverpool on a Saturday night. Whilst it was busy we didn't have to wait long to be seated. We had prebooked our table as it was for a large party. We had some drinks whilst we were waiting that they were happy to include on our final bill. The food and drinks we had were fantastic. A big shout out too for the Stornoway black pudding as there are not too many places that have this. The staff were very friendly and thorough. All our food which we had pre ordered all came out at the same time. The staff were also happy to keep bringing over our drinks orders. Despite it being very busy there the whole restaurant were very happy to accommodate us and we will be back soon.

They were very careful with my son & I having celiac. I didn’t have any cross contamination problems. Great separate GF menu with loads of yummy choices, apps, mains and desserts. Dedicated fryer. I was so grateful to have gf fried calamari for the first time since having celiac. It was delicious!

Visiting Liverpool for the weekend and my boyfriend booked Hanover Street Social for dinner. The food was phenomenal not one dish disappointed! Friendly and attentive staff. I’d highly recommend the salted caramel cheesecake (best cheesecake I’ve had).

Went for the Monday night offer with friends for a 50th birthday. Lovely bottle of red wine with 2 courses for £32.50, delicious food beautifully presented. It was a busy night which made it a bit noisy for conversation but still a fun night with friends. Lovely food and great value

Always visit this bar at some point during a weekend visit to Liverpool. Once again, great atmosphere with reasonably priced drinks, great quality food plus welcoming and helpful staff.

I literally have no words! From start to finish just amazing! Atmosphere was fabulous, staff were so lovely and attentive. We had the best meal we had in Liverpool I had goats cheese mousse to start, hubby had black pudding. Then salmon and sea bass for main and hubby had chicken. I won’t bore you but it was genuinely gorgeous. We also had 2 bottles of wine. On a Monday they do the best deal 1 full bottle of wine and 2 courses for £35.95!!! Highly recommend, thank you

My favourite place to eat go many times today however was disappointed. Very hot and uncomfortable very noisy. Food wasn't what it usually is. However staff as always delightful

Was recommended by a lovely Liverpudlian I met on the train and it did not disappoint. I ordered the nut roast - delicious and child ordered the fish and chips, also tasty. Staff were lovely and friendly and I would recommend this place to everyone
