Hanoi Social Chester in Cheshire West and Chester

EDIT: Been back twice now during opening times and it has been closed. Tried to call up and no response. Not sure if this business has now closed. Worth considering if you are travelling from outside of Chester. Such a gorgeous little restaurant. Service was brilliant and staff so friendly. The place is very clean and the food was impeccable. Really delicious vegan options. Can't wait to come back!

Food taste wise is fair, but the portion of food is jot worthy the list price

Came here on my daughter’s recommendation. The food is absolutely superb - all eight dishes we had were worth writing home about. Will definitely be back. Don’t miss this place.

Good food and drink, something a bit different in Chester and a good place to pop in to if you're walking walls.

The Vietnamese beef pho soup is rich and the beef is moderately soft and hard. The noodles are delicious, but the portion is on the small side. The shrimp spring roll dipping sauce is pretty good and goes well with it.

Absolutely love this place, I’ve been to Hanoi Social about 5 times now since may and the staff are all lovely. The interior is inviting and clean and the food never disappoints 10/10 recommend.

A hidden gem. Not the street food straight from Nam, but better presented and tweeted to suit a wider audience. That is a good thing, it catches the spirit and articulates it with a modern treatment. The only reason it isn't a five star yet was that I tasted a bit off in the Banh Mi, the scent of fresh herb was subtle and well presented but the local pork had quite the stench asian pork usually doesn't. That is hard to get rid off.

Food was great and staff were very welcoming and friendly. The kids thought it was great. We will definitely eat there again when in Chester.

Thoroughly good lunch! Lovely pork wantons, fried duck, and chicken 'loaded' chips. Efficient service, fairly swift, and tasty.

The food was delivered 45 mins late. It was also virtually cold.

Hanoi social proved a great evening meal experience out the Friday before last for myself and friend Lindsay , we both agreed 👍 💯 we had a fab time and we would love to repeat it and try more dishes, I seem to remember visiting once before the latest time. My meal was really tasty, particularly the 🦑 squid. The service was excellent, the staff very friendly and I really loved the ambience of the atmosphere of this restaurant tucked away in the quietness of Chester' s city walls.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Well priced too. Shared a few small plates for lunch and thoroughly enjoy our experience.

Food marked as delivered but never received. No answer at restaurant. Disappointing as food is actually really nice. Too many issues with delivery won’t be ordering again.

I have never received my order, no notifications or calls and the money was taken out!! Completely unacceptable after waiting for 2h

Terrific service, delicious food

Instead of max 40 min. it took 2 hours for the order to arrive! I had to call and call before finally getting an update 1.5 hours in. Basically the restaurant got busy, so they left the online orders until after they closed. To top it off, they forgot one of our dishes(!!) and as you'd expect, half of it was luke warm/cold. Oh and don't bother with the fried greens. £3.95 is a rip off for what you get. Shame really, we always enjoyed Hanoi Social before.

The Viet Pho is excellent, however the meat of poached Hainan Chicken Rice is a bit old. Viet coffee is good

Never had a bad meal yet, the food is incredible and the service was quick and with a smile. Really reasonably priced and great vegan/veggie options too

Really nice atmosphere and the staff were polite. Drip coffee with condensed milk was super as well as our spring rolls and beef pho. Definitely the best fuel to muddle over the city walls(!) Will be definitely be visiting again on our next visit to Chester!

We came on a quite lunchtime. The food was ok but tiny portions for the amount of money being spent. 7 quid for 4 tiny steamed buns. The loaded fries were quite decent but not enough meat. Needs authentic music. Needs nicer menus, needs better pricing or more food. Doubt we'd return.

Pho king fries tasted nice but chicken was brown chunk’s possibly thigh summer rolls were strange in the 4 I had a tiny tiny bit of prawn in each so possibly 1 and a half prawns cut into 4 and some weird slimy stringy stuff inside

First of all I’d like to say that it’s nice to find a restaurant that sells Vietnamese food, it’s hard to find them in Chester. I was disappointed in the Pho.. to me it tasted like water with a slight sweetest which seems to be the case in the uk all of the pho isn’t authentic and is usually bland. That being said the pork sui Mai was delicious and so was the jade noodles (just wish there was more sauce for the noddles) all in all I would recommend this place. The lady was also lovely too!

After eating in the restaurant a few weeks ago and having a lovely meal we decided to have a take away which arrived almost a hour after the time they quoted for delivery it was very expensive and Very disappointing, part of the order had been substituted without any explanation small portions , very little meat and cold, we ordered 3 starters and 2 main courses plus 1 side costing £54 we will definitely NOT be ordering again

Food is good, not amazing. Has the potential to be incredible but just missing that bit extra. Nice place to sit in. Service is pleasant if a little slow. Would go back again now I know what to expect.

I came here with my friend to eat Vietnamese food but ended up wanting to try Hainanese Chicken Rice and Thai Milk Tea. Thai milk tea was literally amazing; the tea was strong with a decent amount of sweetness. For Hainanese chicken rice, I honestly didn’t expect this, but it’s over my expectation; the sauce was sour and a bit spicy, I would say it’s the taste I have been craving for. The chicken was soft and tender and the rice was cooked right. It also comes with the tiny bowl of soup, which was perfect. I truly recommended this two menu😄

The summer rolls are what I would have if I was a condemned man as my last meal 😋👍👌

My family and I have lived in Vietnam for the last nine years and had hoped that this would be a local spot where we can get our Vietnamese food fix. Whilst this isn't that they did nail the flavours and create an interesting take on Vietnamese food for a British market. The service was great and the atmosphere was really good also. Would recommend to a friend.

This is some of the nest phò I've had in a long time , the herb mix is perfect , the dish is complex but the broth is light , strong flavour but light , there's a decent amount of chilli with optional extra , goes great with the chef reccomended side sauce .decent portion size , The summer rolls where great, fresh tasting and crunchy with a peanut side sauce Oh and the coffee, I dobt usually like sweet coffee but the condensed milk coffee compliments everything Mwah , chefs kiss perfect ! What a find….daughter discovered last week so we gave it a try, not disappointed. Summer rolls delicious as was the 5 elements crispy pork rice. Considering it is a small plate type menu, we still went home happy and full bellied.

Fantastic find tucked up on Chester's historic walls. Amazing food, lots of little plates/ starters and main courses. Veggie and vegan versions of almost everything, too. Very tasty and good-sized portions as well as great value for money. We are going back to work our way through the menu!

Ordered Bahn mi and pork belly meal. It was all seasoned beautifully. Extremely tasty. Eould have like more filling in the Bahn mi and would be better if they did a full-size like they do in Vietnam. The main was very salty but I like salt, it would be too salty for my partner so maybe slighty over seasoned but a pleasure to have tasty, sweet, sticky, spicy food made with heart. Yummy

The Pho broth and Char su pork were absolutely delicious. I thought the portion of chicken was a bit on the small side. Will be ordering again in the future.

Service very good, great staff, nicely decorated, but was very quiet on a Saturday evening so no atmosphere, food nice, but very small portions and a bit expensive for what you get.

We called in impromtu as we fancied Street food as a takeaway. The host was extremely helpful in suggesting some light bites off the menu for us. It was all absolutely delicious. We sat in the park near the Water Tower to enjoy it. Will definitely call here again next time we're in Chester.

Definitely worth a visit. An amazing location we were lucky to come across, we wanted to try a few different things, we had Vietnamese spring rolls, pho noodles, corn dogs, dirty fries, fried chicken rice. I would love to go again when next in Chester.

Good and attentive service. I ordered Hainanese steam chicken rice and the portion is just enough for me. It came with a small bowel of soup. I won't go for starters as the portion is small.

Lovely location but the pho is not a pho. Dry bits of well cooked beef in a thin broth.. Also portions far too small for £12. Pho should be in a big bowl of deep delicious slow cooked beef broth with thin slices of rare beef. This wasn’t that. I hope it improves because Chester needs you!

Won't say this is truly authentic but it's ok. Excellent friendly service, food is ok but can be better, portion is not the most generous but that appears to be the case with all the restaurants I went to in the area so I guess it is market driven. Restaurant isn't big and have a cosy cafe feeling and is nicely decorated. Would recommend if you are craving for some Asian food in the area but I have had much better Vietnamese.

Great fresh tasting food and a broad selection of options in smallish portions. Price quite reasonable. Service “Ok” just seemed a little out of sync. Great dine in venue and atmosphere

I’m Vietnamese living in Chester. When this place opened advertising authentic Vietnamese street food I was SO excited thinking I would be able to enjoy food I miss from home. We ordered a bunch of dishes like the Viet salad (gỏi gà), mini bánh mì, spring rolls and a few other dishes. These dishes were fine but I feel offended and disappointed as they weren’t authentic as claimed. There are some distinguishing ingredients and dishes which are recognisable as Vietnamese but they are all modified to cater a wider range of audiences. This to me is misleading and I wish they just call these dishes as Vietnamese inspired.

Such a hidden gem. Didn't know it existed I just happened to Google Vietnamese food in chester and we went straight over. So glad I did, will absolutely be going back. The place itself is so lovely, nice decor and great views out the windows, fab music. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was some of the best Vietnamese I've had in Chester/Wirral area. Chicken pho, chicken noodles and crispy spring rolls were all fantastic. Can't wait to return 😍😍🍜
