We both have advanced Indian cooking skills and find most restaurants lacking - the usual things like bought in sauces etc. This family run business is different - they cook super authentic dishes - I had kheema methi - really excellent and cooked on the spot. I cannot comment on the dishes they keep hot on the side but both my partner and I thought their a-la-cart items were outstanding. Finally - extremely friendly and speedy service. I have been to Indian restaurants all over the UK - especially Bradford & Brick Lane - this is one of the best.

Very rarely do we have a takeaway. Thought we would try Hannah again after a couple of years. Phoned our order and told food would be ready in 20mins. Arrived after about 25mins. and was kept waiting at the counter for at least another 10mins. At no time did anyone who I imagine was on the counter come to me. Another guy who had ordered was kept waiting a long time for his food as well. A lot of talking going on in the kitchen but surely someone should be on the counter all the time. If it takes this long to prepare a takeaway how do they cope when the restaurant was busy. Moan over, but when back home the food was really quite good, certainly better than average. Would eat from there again but they must sharpen up their act on speed of service and attention to their customer.

Had a lovely meal here after having a few beers in Whitchurch with friends. I've lived only 10 miles from Whitchurch for over 20 years yet had been here before and I'd certainly return! We were quite late in the evening(half 10ish on a Thursday) but the couple who run it were very friendly and happy to serve us. I've been to many a curry house across Britain but would certainly rate this as one of the better ones. There was a different twist/taste to a couple of things like spicy raita with the poppadoms(a surprise but I liked it!) and my rogan josh was different to others I've had which may not be to everyones taste but I thought it was all very nicely served and the chicken tasted lovely. I guess where the cooking originates from in India will have an effect on this but I think it's good that not all curry places are the same! Overall a nice meal and would definately recommend if your a regular curry eater! I'm only sorry we were in a bit of a rush to catch a train and couldn't relax a bit more after eating. We also noticed they offer a catering service which we may look into for a theme night at our social club!

Worst restaurant ever. The quality of the food is disgusting. The lady who was serving asked us how we were doing and our faces shown everything, even we asked her if the food was cooked this night because everything was cold and dry. The cook took everything from the freezer which is in the main dining and you can see what's going on. I would never advise anyone to go there.

It was with some trepidation I drove twenty miles with six members of my family to the Hannah restaurant in Whitchurch to try the buffet dinner which is why we made the effort.First impressions not good, climbing the scruffy carpeted stairs to the dining area which also looked rather dingy, I'm sorry to have to say the staff's clothing also left a lot to be desired, just everyday clothing no, nice uniform or even matching shirt & trousers although I have to say they were very pleasant. It was 8pm on a Saturday evening and there were only four other diners besides ourselves, I wonder why ?The buffet consisted of papadoms chilli sauce and salad, onion bhaji, & kebabs. All the six or so main courses were chicken dishes and whilst pretty good it would have been nice to have had other meats to try.Only bottled beer available, I did miss my usual draught Cobra. So overall not impressed and will probably not make a return visit.

Everything was delicious and so reasonably priced. We ordered some meat samosas which were not on the buffet so cooked fresh - they were to die for.....Hannah also brought round to the tables some naans fresh from the oven which we devoured despite already being stuffed full.We visited as part of a weekend in Shropshire but well worth the hour journey each way from home next time. I think some reviewers might have missed the point, but each to his or her own taste! This is not a typical Indian, so many of which use commercially bought in sauces - hence the similarity in colour and taste of dishes from restaurant to restaurant. The food is cooked to order and the chef makes up his own spices. Yes the service can be a bit 'eccentric' - but it would be if you were in India and this just adds to the atmosphere and experience. As for the price -this place provides exceptional value for money. My wife and I recently dined there. Three courses plus a drink each and it came to just under £26.

Myself and partner were ravenous after an action packed day out and happened to be passing through Whitchurch, we noticed the all you can eat restaurant buffet was on and for the excellent price of £7.95 who could complain? Upon entry we were greeted by a member of staff who ushered us to our table and took our drink orders. The buffet starter was self service, so we had poppadoms and a selection of dips. The main dishes included Chicken Korma, Balti and Tandoori Chicken to name a few. The onion bhajis were delicious, as were the dishes. I particularly loved the Tandoori chicken as did my partner, we could tell they were homemade and properly marinated. Surprisingly the delicious Naan bread was included as an option in buffet at no extra charge!! (Nice not to pay as an extra like other establishments charge) Overall lovely food and a good ambience, (we were suitably full, yes 2 visits were made to the buffet) the restaurant seems to be a dedication to a woman called Hannah of which a large photo of her graced the wall next to our table. (We couldn't figure out the connection) answers on a postcard fellow travellers) The owners of the restaurant were friendly, and the woman did come to our table to engage in conversation which was nice. We will definitely be visiting in future.

We live in Whitchurch and usually go to forts of India or spice heaven at the top of the road. However we decided to get a takeaway from here for once. We both have korma whenever we have an Indian so I like to think we know what one looks like and let's just say it's usually a creamy yellowy white colour, I guess due to it bring made of coconut. This korma however was a similar colour to lava with a similar flavour.... I mean how can you get a korma so so wrong. Anyway the rest of the meal wasn't actually that bad but my advice to the restaurant chef would be to call up spice heaven, order a korma and maybe just check you know what you're doing. If however you love a spicy as hell korma this place is definitely for you.

I don't like leaving negative reviews, but the food here really was awful. On the positive side the owners were really lovely. The man came out of the kitchen to tell us we had over ordered; I do appreciate this as it's more profitable for them if we do. However I have to say the reason people are not eating his food is not because they have over ordered. It isn't nice. The flavours are odd. The cooking isn't good. And worse, some of it is frankly inedible. The smell and taste of the meat in one dish was very offputting and we didn't risk eating it. It was therefore hard to trust the remaining dishes. The place was empty. We should have known then.I am astounded by the positive reviews. I understand that we don't all like the same thing, but frankly this went beyond taste or preference. It is very cheap, the portions are big, the people who own it are lovely, but nothing makes up for very poor quality food which no-one in the party enjoyed eating. We were unfortunately the only customers in and that meant no atmosphere. But .... The starters, prawn chat and chicken chat, very very tasty! The main dishes were nice but the pilau rice was not good, first time we have had bad pilau rice, looked and tasted bad. So a very mixed review, not sure I would go again but glad we tried it;)

My friends birthday, 20 of us going. The big black hair in my glass of water wasn't a good start. I went to go look at the buffet and it was all in a small corner. Opening to find some very plain boring dishes. I went for something off the menu, when my 'chicken tikka curry' came out it looked nothing like the one from others Indians. The inside of the chicken was yellow, and it was very dry and hard. I would of rather eaten a microwave value curry than this. The 'egg fried rice' had huge clumps of egg in it, it wasn't even cut up. The cheese nan extra cheese wasn't even cheesey. The next morning I started too feel ill. For the rest of that day I was being sick constantly, now it may not be the Indian but my friends also were very ill!! Hannah Restaurant is the only Asian restaurant I will go to in Whitchurch. What I dont understand is why not full of diners, maybe because it is upstairs?Last time we ate there we met three men who had come all the way from Telford to eat there..At week-ends there is a four course buffet at the remarkable price off 7.95 with reasonably priced drinks. Unlike some buffets the food is freshly cooked and only small amounts put out as and when needed. There is usually a choice of four dishes for the main course. If you prefer you can order from a menu.On weekdays you can still have the four courses at the buffet price and the owner will cook more or less whatever you want from the a la cart menu for the main course. Depending how many there are in your party, will dictate how many different dishes you can order for your main course. The downside is the quantity you are given to eat, usually too much. The Indian Lager Cobra is one of the nicest lagers I have drunk in Whitchurch.I wonder from some of the comments if other guests have tasted genuine Indian cooking, Hannah use fresh ingredients not mass produced sauces purchased from food suppliers. The owners are two of the nicest people you could meet.

Average is actually generous but the staff and owners are so nice, I couldn't bring myself to rate it any lower. The starters were mainly OK but main dishes (all four) were very bland (although one tasted distinctly of vinegar) and gave the impression they had been in the pan an awfully long time: really poor. We went a la carte: perhaps the buffet would have been more freshly prepared but we won't be going back in a hurry to find out. I was left a little bewildered at the favourable comments Hannah's has received. The restaurant isn't busy and the owners seem to attribute this to the location (up stairs). I suspect it has more to do with the quality of the food and I would love the owners to face this reality and start appealing to customers wanting authentic, freshly cooked food based on quality ingredients. On the positive side, it's cheap any you can get decent beer.

Really good food freshly cooked to order hence the waiting time is longer but well worth the wait a wide range of food available and reasonably priced
