Visited the cafe again and just want to say it was a lovely experience, the staff who served us were friendly, polite and helpful. Laura and Millie served us on this occasion and made us feel so welcome, the food was exceptional and coffees lovely and hot. Laura came to check everything was alright with our order, which it was of course and also brought a dog treat for our two dogs and made them feel welcome too. Great visit, thank you.

On holiday we had passed this a few times and decided to visit today for lunch . It was a lovely find . The meals were good portions and cooked exceptionally well . Im a bit of a lasagne buff and this lasagne was one of the best i have tasted . The staff were friendly and pleasant and the whole atmosphere was welcoming . We also brought a few bits in the shop itself once again staff very friendly . A little treasure of a find we will definitely visit again

Had passed here a few times when been out and about and decided to go and take a look further. Having seen it had a cafe thought would see if they did lunch. What a lovely surprise! The food was well cooked and tasted fresh and amazing. You could tell all the ingredients were natural and must have been sourced the same as their on site shop. We had the gammon and lasagne. The layout of the cafe was good as you were not sat too close to anyone else and much was nice. In addition portion size and price was great. Having eaten decided to take a look around the shop area and bought a few items to take back with us. Certainly recommend going here for something to eat and also grabbing some nice food to go.

Very disappointed, went with my friend. We have visited several times, and generally have the same meal each time. Notice the staff are not so friendly, slow and witnessed a staff in the kitchen eating of a plate of food waiting to go out to a table. Sadly this restaurant has been going down in both our opinions. The soup was just warm . My child’s breakfast was just warm . What you can see on the plates is what both of us wasn’t able to eat- both was disgusting and only just warm. We didn’t complain as the staff didn’t look approachable. Will not be eating there again my meal was £6.25 now £7.25. Apparently price increases due to their wages going up in April-but we were still in March. Understand prices need to rise at times but not by a £1.00 on a child’s meal. Plus most of the chairs are like this one, just puts you off wanted to sit down

If I was just rating the food, the score would be higher. Unfortunately the customer service (or lack of it) lets the cafe down. It was a busy lunchtime, however we were seated quite quickly. When I went to order, I was ignored for several minutes, before the lady took the order. She appeared unhappy. The food appeared quickly, and was presented well. We had ordered two drinks for the children, but after waiting several minutes, there was no sign of them. I approached a lady and explained, and without saying anything, she went off to get them. I then asked for the three glasses we were also supposed to have (for the water dispenser), and she looked annoyed and again, without speaking, marched off to get them. I could hear her saying to a colleague that she needed help, so it was obvious they are understaffed. We felt a burden, rather than valued customers, sadly. The food was delicious. We had chicken strips, and chicken burgers. My children especially enjoyed theirs, leaving clean plates. Portions were fine. Unfortunately though, due to the service, I felt £50 for 2 main meals and 3 kids meals, with 2 glasses of squash, was overpriced. It’s ok to be busy I don’t mind waiting for things, but two of the ladies appeared quite rude. The young lad though, was very polite and helpful, and was trying his best.

Great little farm shop! We stopped by after a walk along the Wye Valley. The shop itself is a little expensive however the restaurant was lovely, great quality food, good size portions and very lovely staff. Great choices for veggies/vegans, not really any small plates for kids, ours had to have adult size jacket potato but enjoyed it, great tradition breakfasts. Would recommend a visit!

My husband and I called into Hanley farm shop to have a spot of lunch in the cafe rather than go home and cook. Whilst I accept that it was busy and that the staff were pleasant we were informed several minutes after ordering ham egg and chips that they didn’t have any ham , (strange considering that they have a butchery counter ) We were offered sausages instead which we did agree to rather than restart the process. After waiting 40 minutes we were presented with 2 chipolatas 2very overcooked eggs and “chips “ or at least that’s what they were supposed to be. To say we were disappointed is a little of an understatement , it certainly wasn’t what we would have expected for the price.

I recently visited Hanley Farm shop to have a look around the festive market and get some snacks from the farm shop, as I had friends visiting that evening. I spent £30 on some nibbles and was a bit shocked at the total,l but thought 'that's expensive, but it will be good quality'. The box of mince pies was nearly £5 for 6 and they were so crumbly, they just fell apart when trying to remove them from the foil case. Also, where they had holes in the top, the juice from the filling had leaked all over the tray. What an expensive mess! The Broad Beans snacks which were nearly £4 a bag, were tasteless and inedible. A member of my family nearly choked on one because it was so dry. They were like chewing cardboard, although I can imagine cardboard would probably be easier to eat! The other snacks were underwhelming and therefore really overpriced for the quality of the product. On the way back to the car park, I also noticed the condition of the smoking shelter on site. There were hundreds of cigarette ends and litter all over the floor - it was a disgusting sight and really let the place down. If you are going to put a smoking shelter on site, at least keep it clean and tidy, especially as it is right by the electric charging point for all to see, even the non-smokers on their way past. Wont be returning.

Described as a Cosy coffee shop with a warming fire is reasonably accurate. However its not quite our idea of cosy. It was recommended by an acquaintance so we decided to give it a go. There is plenty of parking and plenty of seating and as I’m disabled access is ok. Described ss a farm shop we expected fresh vegetables etc Sadly though there was lots of attractive deli type produce There was little in the way of fruit and vegetables. Looking around we saw much of the produce that was on display was quite expensive and could quite easily be acquired elsewhere. Described as in Chepstow, it’s actually 2 miles outside Chepstow on the A48 - a narrow twisting road that I found quite dangerous. I imagine on a warm summer day that the view across the seven estuary could be considered reasonably attractive. Inside the cafe is quite spartan - nice warm fire on a miserable grey day but I could not describe it as cosy. The main things though that put us off returning were the dreadful coffee and the overwhelming stink of fried food.

Well, where to begin!! We arrived to find the cafe less than full, and mainly with people having coffee and cakes. We think we now know why. We ordered lunch and the tills were not working, so were told to have our meal & pay later. The food we received was totally awful - but for the fact that we were both ravenous we would have taken it back and walked out. The pies we ordered were dry - no moisture in the middle at all. The pie pastry was so hard it made my teeth ache, and the chips were not chips but thin slices of tasteless potatoes, folded in half and cooked to a charred mess. Dry mashed up peas were the only accompaniment. No gravy was available even though requested twice. Consequently we had a very dry, hard as rock, tasteless, inedible mess. Oh, and the pot of tea we ordered was not the one we received, just to put the total failure on to the event. My teeth were still aching 10 hours later!! The total bill for that diabolical mess was more than £30, which we did not pay as the tills were still not working. Do not enter this establishment if you value your dentistry!!!!!!!

our first visit to the Hanley Farm cafe on a Sunday lunch time. Long wait to be served and ordered two coffees, a piece of cake and a slice of quiche. Order was taken and we sat outside as we had our dog with us. The food and drinks arrived but no quiche. I asked the waitress and she said it was ‘being warmed up’. It was then that I queried the difference in price (ie, it was £2.75 to buy in the shop but I was charged £3.75 to have it warm). I was not asked if I wanted it hot at the till or that there would be a extra £1 to have it warmed up so it was a bit naughty of them to say the least! The coffees were good, the cake was lovely but to be charged a extra pound without being asked if I would like it hot or cold was pretty bad and if known, I would have just brought the quiche separately from the shop and saved some money. In all, a nice place to eat but please don’t try to ‘rip off your customers’.

Looked on Tuesday to find they were labelled use by Sunday, the day I bought them.No choice but to throw them away, Possible they were mis labelled with the date but I can't take the risk.

Passed this before but ventured in because we were looking for a local produce (Netherend Farm butter). Muech bigger than it looks with butchery, deli, shop and a cafe. Really smart bright and clean. The cafe serves posh coffee and a range of cakes as well as full meals for lunch etc. Our coffees and cakes were excelent and there was a food menue for lunch and snacks. Friendly staff and recommended.

we didnt think there was much selection of veg or meats, we were used to a very good selection of farm shops where we lived previously so hoped this would be as good.. was disapointed.

You will find this Farm Shop on the main A49 road between Lydney and Chepstow. The Farm Shop itself is worth a visit as well as the cafe at the back on the shop. They serve very good coffee and excellent bacon rolls. While the menu is not extensive it is sufficient to meet most peoples' needs. If you are a golfer then drop you can go to the golf range next door on a deal. Well work a visit. I am a frequent visitor. beware that the cafe does stop serving hot food at approx. 2pm.

We stopped at this quaint little place on our way home, for a cup of tea. The cafe was of a high standard and good value for money. The range of home made cakes was good and the drinks went down well.

Was told on a frequent usual visit the kitchen would and could provide reasonable requests not on the menu but on this occasion would not cook an omelette for my wife dispte waiting over half an hour for a table they also had no baked potatoes our second choice,so after enjoying their excellent coffee we left disenchanted and very disappointed, not our normal experience there as we look forward to our visits but next time we will stick to the menus.

Siempre he disfrutado lo que he seleccionado. Hay asientos en el interior o en el exterior. Bien merece una visita. An excellent farm shop; so good we not only stocked up on our way to the holiday cottage in Tintern we stopped on the way home again as well. Of particular note was the butchers (good quality mince / steaks), the deli (cheeses and pasties/pies) and the bread/ rolls (delicious custard slices). Reasonable prices and friendly, helpful staff as well.

We were on holiday in the area and popped into the farm shop on a few occasions to pick up some nibbles and cheese and snacks and a few essentials (butter, milk etc).Excellent choice of quality food and drink. Quite expensive as you'd expect from a farm shop like this.

A Bunch of us go here on the way back from Lydney Parkrun. The coffee and cakes are great. The serve is very good. And they don't mind us in our running gear. The cost is reasonable. You get a little biscuit with your coffee. They do two sizes. Average cost £2.70 a coffee. Welsh cakes are nice. You can also get food from the deli counter. Besides the coffee shop. The store has a great variety of meats, bread, local beers, and all that other good stuff you find at farm shops. You can 'spend a fortune 'and it's worth it. I had caramelised onion sausages and black pudding sausages this past weekend for brunch ! And the breads look lovely ! There is in door and out door seating. And the do a loyalty coffee stamp card too. Which is great for us as we go there almost every Saturday. Highly recommend it.

A genuine well thought out Farm Shop, with many super varieties of meats, Cheeses, and pies to buy along with numerous other delicious mouth-watering items to add to your shopping basket, including a variety from the Glutten Free section. Plus, a selection of wine, beer, cider and children's fruit juices plus ice-creams. Also a superb venue for lunch, morning coffee or afternoon tea. Order at the counter, and the delightful staff will serve your refreshments to your table inside or out according to the weather. What a find!! ...... and a returning visitor many a time.

The cakes are scrumptious, the hot chocolate is probably one of the best around and the farm produced meats are just superb. With a truly delightful setting this café is one of the nicest around. Highly recommended for a light lunch or tea and coffee with a piece of cake!

Tasty grub and plenty of it! What proper quality pub food should be. Flavourful and with quality ingredients without being faffy, and a lovely set of staff

My husband and I tried to get tea and cake yesterday afternoon. I am disabled and struggled into the garden to be met by a very unhelpful man who simply said 'its lunch' in response to my husband's polite query! When he enquired further, the response was: 'I'll get you a menu but if you just want tea, there's a tea bar over the road!' Needless to say we didn't bother or wait for the menu! Proprietor should remember it's the customers that keep businesses like this going and respond appropriately! Like another reviewer comments: Bring a packed lunch and enjoy the riverside beauty!!! The person we encountered was really rude and unhelpful!

Been before and was disappointed , left it a while hoping things had improved but sadly still very poor quality. The fish was thin inside the batter, and had zero flavour . No flaking or creaminess to the fish at all just tasted of nothing really. Not a big chip fan anyway but had a small scoop but they turned out to be dried out brittle short what we used to call scrumps and were normally thrown out . But anyway they served them and charged handsomely for them . Needless to say they went straight into the bin . Most disappointed as it used to be top notch , with nice lemon wedge and paper wrapped . Now the carbon wastage via cardboard boxes and paper and plastic is diabolical . Sadly won't bother anymore , but good luck anyway. Cheers Fred

Very welcoming, accepts dogs, good English food, very reasonably priced and lovely service. Inside it’s a bit worn down and dated but didn’t bother us as it had everything we wanted.
