Hanger & Cellar in Hammersmith and Fulham

Steak. It is so easy to get wrong, but when you want a quality steak, cooked to perfection, you can’t go far wrong with Hanger & Cellar. My friend and I went there for dinner while in Fulham, and were taken aback by the interior, that was the epitome of cool everywhere you looked. We could see why it has a great reputation. We decided that the best way to sample a place we hadn’t been before was to order and share every dish. To start with, we went for Smoked beef tartare with kimchi and duck egg yolk, chilli fried baby squid will dill aioli along with ox cheeks with confit garlic and bone marrow crumb. The combination was just great and set us up nicely for the main course. Of course, when in Hanger & Cellar, it would be a crime to miss out on the steaks, so we plumped for 300g of bone in rare breed sirloin and 300g of USDA hanger steak. They were matured, tender and tasted superb. I want all my steaks to taste like this! On the side, we had chips, herbs salt, aioli and then poutine with goats curd and jalapenos to make a real treat of it. The food was cooked with real skill, and the two steaks were some of the best we’ve ever eaten. Amazingly, we made room for dessert and both eyed up the affogato made of vanilla ice cream, espresso and almonds on the menu. Good choice. Along with the smooth service, it ended the night on a real high note. Can’t wait to go back.

I actually visited this restaurant in June 2016 when it had just opened, since I love hanger steak (onglet). We had a lovely bottle of wine and plenty of tasty steak with sides. Afterwards we went down to the bar, which was empty but had a nice time chatting to the owner and his partner. If I didn't live the other side of London I'd have been back several times by now!

Booked this for a tasty Sunday lunch. We called to confirm they had their steak roast on and they said yes. Got to the restaurant, totally empty, the waiter said the brunch menu was the only thing available & was pretty nonchalant about the whole thing, no apology. We wouldn’t have minded but we rang to confirm specifically! Ended up leaving after we were lied too. Such a shame as it looked delicious.

We booked a table for four in December 2017 for the first week in January 2018. The plan was to have their highly rated Sunday roast. Unfortunately the lunch menu changed in January 2018 and the roast is no longer an option, even though it's still advertised on the website. Instead a fixed price brunch menu of limited choice is offered until 4pm. The waiter saw our disappointment and offered us the option of ordering from the more varied evening menu; our frowns turned upside down and the food orders were made. I also ordered a specific bottle of wine that unfortunately was the only one out of stock, again the waiter saw my disappointment and suggested a slightly more expensive wine at the cost of the house wine. I was offered a taste before purchase to ensure my satisfaction. Even without the taste I would have accepted the replacement as the financial discount was substantial; the alternative wine was delicious by the way. The starters arrived promptly and the mains not long after that. The food was hot and well presented and if you like steak, I would suggest that you allow the chef to choose the best cooking time. I like my steak rare but not bloody and this steak was cooked to perfection. I also like pork and two of my party ordered the slow cooked pork rib. Expecting a rack of ribs, they were plesently surprised at the arrival of two substantial and succulent pieces of boneless pork rib; after tasting it I'm planning a return visit. The treacle tart dessert was fantastic, not sickly sweet at all. The accompanying chocolate sphere puzzled those of us that had never watched Master Chef, but when the hot salted caramel sauce was poured onto it causing it to melt, a squeal of delight arose from my party as the scoop of vanilla ice-cream within revealed itself. Admittedly, we were the only customers that lunchtime and were spoiled for choice with waiters. If the exceptional level of service and food quality could be maintained at a full seating, I could easily envisage patrons having to be turned away due to popularity. Keep it up Hanger & Cellar, you're got my vote.

We had a Groupon and this is how we discovered this place. FOOD (20£) The steak was good in itself and good value for the price but I was disappointed with the sides and the sauce wasn't great. STAFF/SERVICE The manager tried to offer us a Sunday Roast instead as there were leftovers apparently but I didn't like the way he tried to impose this on us making us believe it was a better offer. I still standby my decision to get the steak. Considering there were only 3 tables in use, I feel the food could have arrived faster. ATMOSPHERE/LOCATION This is one of the biggest negatives I'd say: the location is slightly remote, there is really nothing much around here and unless you live around the area, there is no point of coming there just for that. Its a 5 minute walk from Fulham Broadway Station. The atmosphere was dead when we went and it's a shame really as the concept isn't bad but the location will just degrade it. CONCLUSION: I DON'T RECOMMEND AND WOULDN'T RETURN.

Hanger features amazing steak, tapas and a great drink selection with impeccable service- what more could you want? We happened to stumble in on a Tuesday evening and it was just lovely. They also ha e a downstairs bar that is hopping on the weekends. Highly recommended!

We were meant to go to the Footy at Chelsea, but things conspired against us, so we settled for a Steak! We ordered 4 different Steaks as they are cut for sharing, and they were all fantastic, the two Hanger Steaks were especially good, lots of Flavour, we had some english mustard, but didn't use it because the Steak was that good! If you live anywhere near this place, Lucky you! if you don't, add it as a place to visit.

Ate here on a Friday night and booked a table for 7.30pm, which turned out to be quite early as the restaurant was empty. By 8.30pm it was packed. The service was very good and friendly and our waitress made some good recommendations. We had the ox cheek and truffle gnocci to start which was SO TASTY! I would eat it again before every meal. The ox cheek dish is quite big too. The steak was good, I had the bavette which in hindsight I should have had medium rather than rare as it was quite chewy rare. It came with loads of bernaise sauce which was really good. We sat and drank a bottle of wine and weren't rushed at all. There is a cocktail bar downstairs which was quiet. I guess people don't expect it to be part of the restaurant so might not come here just for drinks, instead using it to have a last drink after dinner. Overall it was a really good Friday night spot for a steak and great sides and I will be back!

This restaurant gets better and better. The infusion of the smokey charcoal grill infuses though the superb steaks to create a delicious meat. The truffle gnocchi is one of the best things I have ever eaten All topped off with great friendly service.

I reviewed this restaurant almost exactly one year ago, and marked it down for having bad service. Sadly, my second review is different only in that the service seems to be even worse. We went as a table of 8 to celebrate a family birthday. Firstly, our waitress, who was fairly charmless, repeatedly approached our table for our food order as we were obviously settling in and not looking at the menu. I think I must have sent her away two or three times on the basis that we were all still saying our hellos and hadn't had a chance to look at the menu. When we did finally give our order, it was an eternity before it arrived (maybe 45 minutes) with COLD FRENCH FRIES. To make a bad situation worse, one of our party did not receive his dinner owing to a mistake in the kitchen - awkwardly, we ate our dinner as 7 rather than 8. Some 20 or so minutes passed *without our waitress reappearing* or even any waiter at all, so we had to wildly wave our hands to get an update on the unfolding debacle. At this point, our waitress told us she would not charge our 8th diner for his steak, fine. It arrived probably 30 minutes after everyone else's - why? The food was very good, cold french fries and stingy offerings of ketchup aside; they do a very nice steak. To repeat what I said about my past several reviews of restaurants having terrible service, we were cranky and had itchy feet by the time we finished dinner so we declined dessert. To compound our irritation, our 8th dinner, supposedly stricken from the bill for arriving 30 minutes late, was actually DUPLICATED, meaning our bill had 9 entrees rather than 7. We pointed out this mistake, and just 15 minutes later voila! the correct bill arrived. Our waitress made the all too common mistake of dropping our dinner and running, never to be seen again. This is no way to run a restaurant. Also, the music is heinously loud. We could not hear ourselves speak. We won't return!

We have visited this restaurant once a week for the past 5 weeks. We had been working in the area and this was a nice getaway from the humdrum hotel food and at a very reasonable price for where it is situated. Next time i'm down it will be the first place I go for a big juicy steak.

First visit here before a Chelsea game, and its only a 5 minute walk.. The food was absolutely superb, all 3 hangers cooked to perfection, one rare, one medium and one well done. Read the reviews, they really intrigued me to visit for a nice cut. I am a food lover and have tried many good cuts in London, yet this one (to my humble opinion) does not deserve the 4.5 stars people have given in TripAdvisor. The food is OK and prices relatively good for what you get, however, I wouldn't give my 5 stars especially after I've tried premium steaks at Goodmans, Gaucho but even Flat Iron (which is amazing if you're on a budget). To put it otherwise, it is a good local restaurant with very good helpful and attentive service for when you eager for flesh and you live close by, but not worth getting all the way there if you're after a premium cut.
