This was our first visit to the Hampton but what a little gem, we were on an impromptu visit to the Scottish capital to watch our youngest lad play rugby in the Shadow of Murrayfield. The pub has a huge range of drinks including non alcoholic, I can't drink alcohol for medical reasons so this was good to see. Although we didn't eat the menu looks amazing. We'll definitely be back

Central location, , bus stop not far from hotel , bus26&31 takes you to Princes street, friendly staff, comfy beds, good shower pressure , tea/coffee, could do with updating rooms but good value for money, took breakfast on our second morning, £10 per person, excellent value. The only thing that spoilt it for us was the fire alarm going off at 3AM, just glad it wasn’t anything serious. Will definitely stay here again.

Lovely stay in this hotel, it is well situated and the food and service is very good. Most importantly, staff is very friendly and always happy to give tips on what to do / where to go in town. If you are a rugby fan, you can’t find better place as it is very close to Murrayfield stadium.

Rooms need a little updating, they're very spacious rooms and the bed was very comfy. The room was clean. The service was very good. Breakfast was lovely . Location good, only took 10-15 minutes on the bus into Edinburgh and fare was capped at £4.80 so wasn't a rip off. All in all had a lovely time here and would book here again.

Visited before and after a recent Scotland rugby game at Murrayfield for food and drinks as part of a large group. We had a pre-match sit down meal before the game, the service was great, the food was tasty and overall it was good value for money. Post-match we went back for drinks. The staff worked hard all evening to enure there were never long queues at the bar and the drink prices were reasonable. I would recommend visiting here to add to your match day experience.

We have visited the Hampton several times now, to have meals or drinks with friends. Thought it was high time I posted a review, after another great visit this weekend. Carol and all of the staff are warm and welcoming hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is proper restaurant food and is served in a lovely traditional bar/restaurant. Good menu choice and warm, quality food. The bar is a great place for drinks with friends, or a good choice to watch live sport, away for the stress of the city centre. Visit once and you will certainly be back for more - just like us!

Hi! Popped in for a tea, Josie was behind the bar and she instantly welcomed into bar. Full of character and charisma! She is an asset to your team.

Great place to stay, our room was roomy and comfortable. It was very quiet at night so I had a lovely sleep. (We had a rear room) Nice food to go with the room and very friendly staff. Easy access to the city centre via bus, which are very frequent. Murrayfield stadium is across the way, so may be a bit busy at times. All in all a pleasant stay for a few nights.

Was staying at the Murrayfield hotel on business and found this little gem of a pub next door. A great selection of gin and great staff! Josie and Jack recommended the gin of the week. I later found out that there were rooms as well! Wish I had booked a stay! Will make sure I visit again when I'm back next month, a great find with good prices and a great staff.

Dreadful place. Blaring televisions showing continuous sport (several) in the bar is bad enough but to go through to the restaurant with even more blaring televisions is appalling. Food is mediocre. Unless you want sport shoved down you throat when you are eating; not a place to go. Staff unfriendly and rude.

We were in a group of three and looking for a place to dine, after a hard-day's sight-seeing! Came across the Hampton Hotel on the way back to our hotel and loved the atmosphere. The menu is typical British fayre but good quality. My friend chose a beef kebab and was knocked out by the flavour. Myself and my other friend had local sausages, which were great, accompanied by traditional mash and cabbage. All washed down with a session IPA by the Edinburgh brewer, Belhaven. Staff couldn't do enough for us, with one friend wanting more veg, rather than chips; this was no problem and offered willingly. Finally, we ended with a lemon tart with raspberry sorbet and sticky toffee pudding. Both tasted great ! All in all, absolutely recommended!

Llegamos alrededor de las nueve de la mañana para registrarnos y, obviamente, era muy temprano, pero nos dejaron estacionar nuestro auto allí y el bar ya estaba abierto con la exhibición de la Copa Mundial de rugby. Jessica nos consiguió unas pintas (gran Guinness) y nos ayudó con algunas preguntas que teníamos. Terminamos yendo a la ciudad y a nuestro regreso a la noche, Alicia nos registró y nos atendió en el pub para la cena. My friends and I have eaten here many many times over the last 20 years and it never fails to be a great night.The ladies who served us this last time were friendly and chatty as always.The restaurant has changed to a Bellhaven chain restaurant but the food was still just as good and very reasonably priced. El Hampton Hotel es un lugar excepcional para comer! Comimos allí dos veces, y la comida era excelente en ambas ocasiones. El menú es imaginativo y la comida cuidadosamente preparada. My husband and I visited on Friday evening on our way home from a great holiday in Lanzarote, we stood at the bar waiting to be served or at least get a copy of the menu, staff walked past us 2 or 3 times without any acknowledgement of us standing there, when the staff member eventually asked what we wanted , her words, we asked for menus and ordered drinks, my husband got his pint and asked for a white wine topped with a little lemonade, she made my drink in a very tall glass, my husband asked if I could have it in a wine glass, she said spritzers go in tall glasses, my husband then referred to we didn’t want a spritzer is that not made with tonic ( he didn’t know he was only asking) she then referred you asked for lemonade so you got lemonade, if you’d asked for tonic you would have got tonic, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and the manner is was said in, so when he brought the drinks to the table , my glass was also full of ice, which we never asked for, my husband didn’t want to say anything in case she said anything else as she didn’t look happy. I didn’t drink my drink so at that point the manager came in and we mentioned the staff member to her , whether anything was said to her, I don’t know... we didn’t want to eat there anymore so we left, we have eaten there a few times before and usually ok... sorry but definitely won’t be going back

Esta ubicado a unos 15 minutos del Centro de la ciudad; 3 lineas de Bus que van desde y hacia el Centro. Justo detrás del estadio de Ruby Murrayfield. Excelente habitación, excelente baño, excelente restaurante, excelente atención.

We attend our lunch on 17 April and found new management in place. Our food was served with a smile and could not do enough for us. The food was good and well presented and will definately return to this venue. I live locally.

El Hampton es un sueño tener en mi barrio. He estado queriendo dejar un comentario por un largo tiempo ya que realmente hacen un trabajo excelente. El restaurante sirve comida sencilla pero excelente, con el pescado y las patatas fritas es especialmente sabroso. Un plato principal es de alrededor de 8 libras - 10, lo cual es una excelente relación calidad-precio en Edimburgo, con el tamaño de las porciones siempre decente.

Usually come here before the rugby and whilst you expect it to be busy and to wait a while to be served, yesterday's service was awful. After getting to the front at the bar I waited over 15 minutes to be served. In that time at least 3 people on each side of me were served and I only managed to place my order as when the bar maid asked the 4th person to my left, he kindly pointed out that I had been waiting longer.

Veniamo accolti da personale gentilissimo che ci mette immediatamente a disposizione una camera. La stanza e' pulitissima, così come il bagno. Ottima la sistemazione. L'albero ha a disposizione degli ospiti una sezione dedicata al ristorante ed una al pub. Non temete, se il ristorante e' pieno potete sempre sedervi al pub ed ordinare il pasto. Prezzo nella norma, staff competente ed efficiente. Lo consiglio.

Our experienced is for Sunday lunch, and what a treat. Been back several times.Menu is packed with dishes to suit every taste, meat eaters, and veggies.They boast about their fish and chips, and rightly so, but roast beef, roast pork, roast lamb and even roast turkey are favourites on alternating weeks. Plus more than 20 other offerings.Last time we were there, the three dressed-in-black waitresses coped with a birthday party of 23. They could defeat Wee Mo when it comes to speed. And always smiling.This is a family atmosphere eaterie, good beer and the rest, from a well run bar alongside the dining room with its little bookable booths, each seating six, tucked away from the other tables.If you're looking for lunch without the fripperies, but food which tastes as if it's served ffom Mum's kitchen, this is worth a try.

Das Pub im Hampton Hotel ist ok. Wir waren einmal zum Essen dort.Personal ist sehr freundlich.Die Atmosphäre in Ordnung, leider von der Temperatur etwas kühl (Jacke zu empfehlen).Die Portionen sind nicht sehr groß, also wenn jemand großen Hunger hat, benötigt wer wahrscheinlich noch etwas.

Enjoyable supper in the bar area with friends on a Thursday night. Got menu choice and discount menu offers available if wanted, We had the large fish, which lived up to it's name along with a normal fish and a mac cheese. Lovely food, good service and enjoyed eating in the less formal bar area for a change as opposed to main restaurant.

This is a very nice hotel with restaurant and bar areas. It's located in a residential area very close to the Murreyfied Stadium and Ice Hockey Rink. We sat in the bar area as the restaurant was fully booked (on a Saturday night). There were tv screens showing football at the time and it seemed to be a good place with a good atmosphere for other sporting events. It is also family and dog friendly (in the bar). The menu has a good selection of starters, mains and deserts. The steak pie was very delicious and was just under £10.00. The sausage and mash were also very good at just under £9.00. I would definately recommend this for a meal.

My husband and I came here for meals in the evening while visiting Edinburgh couldn't fault it . food 5* staff 5* especially the lovely lady waitress with the blonde hair can't remember her name but she was great nothing to much trouble and very pleasant . take time call in food and drinks great value for your money .

All the personal are just brilliant. Food is simple but delicious and very cheap. There is not a lot to choose from, but all the dishes they have are great.We both with my husband don't like an ice cream as a desert.

We slept at the hotel 1 night and had dinner and breakfast. The staff is kind and helpful. The dinner was superb and despite we came in very late we still had the change to eat something at the restaurant. Breakfast was ok. The room wasgenerally clean. The bulding is very old and you can see the effec of the age in some parts of the room (eg. shower) maybe a better maintenance could have prevented some damages and gave a better aspect to the room. Cleaness of the breakfast tables etc could have been better. There were some leftover from the dinner night before.All in all was a positive experice!!

Superb atmosphere here before and after rugby games. Drink prices tend to be on the steep side, but that is balanced by the convenience of being close to the ground, and plenty of space to meet with friends with the option to stand outside.

This restaurant was recommended by our B&B hostess where we were staying nearby. We were pleased with our meal, and the service was terrific. My husband and I had Hunter's Chicken, and our son had mushroom / goat cheese risotto. Both were very tasty and the portions were generous. Prices were quite reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

We would advise booking in advance at this very good small restaurant on the outskirts of Edinburgh centre. There is a varied menu that features several traditional Scottish dishes, some of which are quite innovative. Two cask beers are usually available, along with a range of 'craft' bottled beers, lagers, and a decent, reasonably priced wine list. We thought the service could have been a bit more upbeat, but perhaps they were short-staffed during our visit. A good place to eat!

we liked this place due to the closeness of our Bed and Breakfast place as only round the corner and could walk to it.Since were here last they have renamed it to Hampton Court from the Murrayfield Hotel.Good selection of food on the menu but the same food for the bar as well. The service in the restaurant was excellent and staff very friendly. The bar we found was a bit slack putting orders into the kitchen and the restaurant got priority over the bar . We had been out all day and had a late lunch so just popped in for a drink and a bowl of chips had to wait nearly an hour for them and when we enquired where they were told they had forgotten to put the order in . Maybe under staffed and could not cope but the food here is is excellent .

Dogs welcome in the bar but the menu is the same as the restaurant. Staff are friendly and the kitchen did a good job churning out the food to a packed restaurant and bar.

Popped in for dinner last night. Was a trip down memory lane as this was always where I went for payday lunch many moons ago. Anyway back to last night. Menu lots to choose from. All very reasonably priced. I opted for steak pie and hubby had chicken jalfrezi. Steak pie, meat was very tender and gravy a little salty for my taste but did not spoil my meal. Hubby also commented curry was quite salty. Drinks reasonably priced and we will definitely go back give it another try. Staff were friendly enough.
