Who ever wrote the review about the Rutland Pippins below needs there heads checking, either that or they have no taste buds. I solely travelled just for the Rutland Pippins, there magnificent, so many flavours which really gel well together. Yeah the blue cheese is not powerful but it’s lovely and subtle and it compliments all the other flavours, there oustanding!!!!

Called in on my way home for a hot drink after a ride out on my motorbike, I ordered a cup of tea and was surprised they didn’t give it to me over the counter as this was all I was having. I sat outside waiting for my tea which never arrived, I asked the waitress about my order and was told she had forgotten my order so sat for a further 15 mins before I decided to wait until I got home to enjoy a hot drink. Perhaps I missed the sign saying “bikers not welcome”, this is somewhere I was going to bring my wife but I think not now !

Stopped here for a coffee. Nice small cafe with views across the fields. Nicely decorated. Best bit was trying a Rutland Pippin, a Rutland delicacy. Very tasty. Bought some bread of course as this is a bakery first and foremost. Nice coffee.

Goat cheese and roasted vegetables panini . If you order this don’t expect more than two extremely small pieces of goat’s cheese that are so small they cannot be tasted. This had the potential to be a really tasty dish and for the price I expected a reasonable amount of the ingredients listed on the menu. I wasn’t just unlucky as my companion had exactly the same. Along with the strong sewage smell I wouldn’t bother as there’s better places nearby to enjoy lunch.

We spotted the tearoom sign just passing by and decided to check it out. Much to our delight, the tearoom and shop looked spotless and also had a beautiful outlook. We ordered fruit stones with jam and cream with our hot drinks. Everything about the food and drink was excellent. It was only whilst we were halfway through our meal that we spotted a dog with a couple at the next table. We aren't particularly keen on mixing food and animals. On returning home and looking at the Web site we see that dog owners are very much encouraged to take their pets. So summing up.. if you are a dog lover, this is the place for you. If on the other hand you, like us, prefere food and pets to to not mix... then don't bother visiting. Had the animals been allowed outside only with their owners, we would have accepted that . However, unfortunately we will not be visiting again.

Not value for money. Teacake is as big as a scone and doughy even when toasted. Latte OK. Order when arrived it was not as requested. You would never get away with these prices in Yorkshire. Our teacakes are larger than the plate you use.

Efficient service, pleasant environment (even better when the weather is good and the garden can be used), drinks and food fine but really the baked good steak the show (as one might expect from a bakery!) If you like citrus try the lemon tart it’s rich, zesty, not too sweet, has a buttery crumbly pastry base that Greg Wallace would get excited about.

After reading all the favourable reviews about the Hambleton Cafe and Shop, my husband and myself paid a visit. I have gluten intolerance and am sensitive to gluten free oats too. As a bakery I thought I would have an opportunity to try at least one gluten free bake. On being served I asked what gluten free items they had I was politely told all the products on sale contained gluten. Exit one disappointed customer. If there had been a notice on the door to say all their products contain gluten I would not have gone in.

Terrible experience. Tables not cleared so sat looking at dirty plates for ages, the menu is small but most of it wasn't available. No vegan options at all, staff had to ask about every thing, they don't know their products and didn't seem interested at all. When I asked if they could make me a salad sandwich I wasn't expecting literally just a roll and a couple of lettuce leaves - I know from the salad on the next table, that they have more in the kitchen. Food took an age to arrive and was wrong when it finally did (they had made toasties on wholemeal rather than white despite us clearly asking for white). Although we were sat at the far end of the cafe, it was cold for my elderly parents as the door was open most of the time. Won't be going back

No gluten free food on the menu. Menu advised to inform staff of allergies. Waiter advised they don’t have any gluten free food at all. My party and I had to leave. Shocked that there’s zero accommodation for people with food allergies. Plenty of cafes and restaurants are accommodating elsewhere. We left and went to Rutland Nursery in Manton where 95% of the menu was gluten free.

We’ll worth seeking out as a bit off the main road. Strange to find in such a location we only stumbled on it so glad we did. Lovely bakery goods beautiful cakes and their Rutland Pippin savoury is better than the over priced regional pork pies sold around the region. Nice cafe with lovely lawned area. We were surprised how popular it was as the car park was full. Especially as it is out in the countryside.

Arrived at around 4.15. It's a cafe. I go and look at the very attractive cakes in the display. I consider what I want. Ask the lady behind the counter and she appears to refer me to the lady at the till. The lady at the till is ignoring customers and is in deep conversation on her telephone. Not a flicker of recognition. The other lady says something along the lines of "you need to go to a table and get a number ". So I do that . After a while sitting at a table I read the menu which says - "please order from the counter with your table number " Time has passed and I am hungry. I look at the menu . It has two sides . One is lunch served from 12-3. The other side says it is served all day. It is now around 4.20. Top of the offering all day are bacon rolls. I decide to have one. And go to the till. Lady is still on her phone. I am summoned to the other till by the other lady. "Could I please have the bacon roll and a cup of coffee" "The cooks have all gone home" "oh ? but it says the bacon rolls are served all day on the menu" At this point the lady has a slightly panicked look . I give up. "Don't worry I say I'll go elsewhere" . Am I being unreasonable ?

Stopped with the wife for Coffee and Cake during a long ride. Never spoke to more miserable staff that work at this place. They wouldn't let us bring our bikes into the outside area. It was a bank holiday and the bakery was busy but all we’d ordered were two cups of coffee and two sausage rolls. The coffees came after quite a wait but not the sausage rolls! All it needed was for someone to reach into the cabinet and bring them out to accompany our coffees. After waiting more than 5 minutes for them to arrive, I had to go and ask for them. I do not understand! Sadly, we shall not be bothering to visit this bakery again. I’ll find somewhere that is able to easily deliver coffees and sundries!

My wife and I visited Hambleton Bakery Cafe & Shop in the midweek following Easter. We both had Mushroom Soup & Sourdough Bread, which were both amazing. We followed this with a great Eccles Cake and Coffee, which was truly excellent. The staff were lovely and were really helpful. One point to note, whilst I was trying to find the end of the queue due to there being quite a few people in front of the counter, a man in front of me stepped forward and told me that I was in the right place. He then said that I could take his place, but when I said that was not fair, he explained that he was the owner and insisted. We then held a short conversation about his development of the new Cafe. I found the owner to be a kind and courteous man, who was humble when speaking about his new Cafe and was without any trace of arrogance.

This should have been a 5* review, the cafe is in a beautiful setting with lovely views over the countryside, the cafe is very comfortable and clean with an attractive outdoor seating area and the staff were very warm, welcoming and efficient. The coffees were good and I enjoyed my food, so why only 3*? They could not offer anything gluten free for my wife to eat. We've been to other bakeries with cafés that have provision for people requiring gluten free so it was disappointing that they had made no attempt here. Sadly we will not be returning as it could have become a regular haunt for us.

I called in at the cafe on Saturday 16th April and chose a bacon roll and coffee. The roll arrived but after one bite, I just could not eat it. The bacon was pre cooked, hard, crisp streaky and was burnt, bitter tasting and luke-warm at best. I called an assistant who agreed it was not acceptable and whipped off to get me a replacement. This was exactly the same dry, crispy, reheated streaky bacon but was not burnt and was a bit warmer. Really Hamilton Bakery, If this is the best you can do, you should take it off the menu. For the prices you are charging, this is not acceptable. The coffee, however, was excellent but it would have been good customer service to offer me a refill after my wait!

It took us a while to find this bakery and we nearly gave up, so if you go get the postcode and use a satnav. I am so glad we found it. We had experienced the quality of the bread and Hot cross buns whilst staying at Hambleton Hall, and so were determined to take some home.

Well worth the trip to find the bakery off the road between Oakham and Stamford. A good selection of interesting bread cakes and other pastry goods.

Great artisan bakery, with scrummy bread, and bakes. The sausage roll was lovely, as were the simnel tarts, lemon tarts, and my husband is seriously developing an addiction to the Eccles cakes. We were lucky to be shown round by Julian, who obviously takes great pride in the ingredients and methods they use. Will have to be back when the freezer is emptier!

Impossible to beat this without slipping across the water to France. All tastes artisan. The walnut and date bread goes so well with a blue cheese and the chocolate brownie is gorgeous. Pop in if you have guests, not cheap but well worth it if you are entertaining.

Really good quality bread that really does have a taste to it. Would recommend anyone in the area to pop in and get themselves a loaf. Both the sourdough and rye sourdough were amazing.

Our grandchildren love a trip to the Olive Kitchen, it is quirky and fun. The best of pancakes and waffles are made there and that is the best thing. Tony is always good value and always loves to see people.

The Wheatsheaf is a hidden gem! Their Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. We followed up with a delightful dessert to round out the perfect meal. We took part in a 5-mile hike around the lovely countryside that surrounds Langham afterwards to walk it all off! If you're looking for a fantastic Sunday Lunch, I highly recommend giving The Wheatsheaf a try. You won't be disappointed! The beer selection and quality on the day we visited (real ales) were OK to good, middle rating there, but I wasn't there for a session, so that didn't detract. The seating layout is not as cosy as it could be, but the staff were very accommodating when we called in for a beer after the walk, allowing us to sit in the dining area. All round highly recommended
