We visited in July, it was a beautiful day so we sat outside by the fishing lake. A lady came out to take our order 2 Banana and chocolate cake and a flapjack folliwed by 3 migs of tea, all of us were very impressed The banana cake was not to sweet and so yummy and the flapjack was the best I've ever eaten. When we finished and went into pay we spoke to the man who explained his wife does the baking. Wished we lived nearer. When we next visit the area this will be our first place to call.

Popped in while in the area ( rented cottage in Ottringham). Coffee and bacon/egg sandwich. Had dog with us so used shelter outside. No heating but out of the rain. Pleasant staff who told us about local attraction ,Constable Mausoleum. Parked car , walked around the ponds with dog and up to Mausoleum and All Saints Church. Pleasant couple of hours spent.

My wife and I had steak and ale pie, potato wedges and mixed vegetables all of which were cooked to perfection. The pie was the best I have eaten for years. Friendly customer focused staff. Also we had latte coffee, apple and sultana cake, Maltese cake outside with Bryn and Ruby, our dogs as nice day. Bought a pasty home for tea and going back later in week for full English, its that good and fairly priced for the "quality package" offered (atmosphere, staff, surroundings, tasty food etc...). Thank you.

We have been visiting this cafe for several months, we use it regularly for a coffee stop on cycle rides and walks. The coffee and homemade cakes are excellent. Breakfasts are excellent, cooked to order and great value. Try the bacon and egg butty, They do a great range of home cooked lunches, which are always freshly made with local fresh produce and very tasty. The staff really go the extra mile to accommodate everybody, and are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this cafe to anybody who is looking for somewhere for a coffee stop or a pleasant lunchtime treat

Visited Halsham Waterside on a friends recommendation for good food. The food was good, wholesome, hot out of the microwave and tasty for all that. However, do not be fooled into thinking this is a place that’s accessible for ALL disabled persons, even if you ring beforehand to check as I did. I was told - “yes, we have wide doors (the front door was a tad wider than usual by a few inches but couldn’t open fully back AND it had a second section which could also be opened… but not fully and they had no key), we have ramps too so we’re fully accessible.” My proper mobility scooter (not one that can be stacked in your boot) had to be left outside the door and, on leaving, had to be reversed all the way down their ramp. It was just as well though as, had it made it inside, it would not have made it through the second door into the dining area and certainly not to the furthest table away in the corner. If you just have a small wheelchair or you have a three-wheeled rollator, as one diner had tucked under their table, you would probably have been OK. But, if you are on a scooter, you have to traverse the pebbled car park to the ramp and be able to get through normal sized doors with it on an angle; then weave through tables or eat alone at a table brought out especially for you into the vestibule. Now, the food is good enough. We had burgers and a steak pie (no ale was discerned and the pastry was a little hard) the dishes came with salad (burger) and veg (pie). We followed with cherry flan and sticky toffee pudding which was OK. The jug for the custard was the loveliest little thing. We also had drinks of Coca Cola one of which was cast into my lap by the server when clearing. My top and trousers were soaked through, now we know why the table coverings were plastic. The server was mortified by their clumsiness and couldn’t apologise enough. Though it did seem to be enough for them because there was no deduction in our £54+ bill when we came to leave. Obviously we will not be returning, we will try a pub next time. PS we do have to say though that the geese on the pond and the view out of the window was lovely but not worth a soaking and £54.

Second time visiting this "cafe", first time we called at 11:30am for a breakfast only to be told that they stop serving breakfast at 11:15am, despite no mention of this on their FB page or any other site. Second time we went for lunch, first i wanted the steak pie with chips or mash, only to be told they only serve it with potato wedges or salad. So i decided on the Jamaican curry with rice only to be told they don't serve rice only coleslaw, potatoes and salad, since i could not imagine a curry with salad and coleslaw i decided to give up. Determined to try their cooking i bought a curry to take away. When we got it home we noticed there is no made on or use by date (see photo), still i tried it and to say this was a Jamaican curry is a stretch by anyone's imagination one taste and it went in the bin, it is closer to a chicken stew than any curry i have ever tasted. Summary: this is not your average cafe,It looks like one, plastic table cloths etc, but it is trying really hard, and failing miserably, to be some sort of chique venue. so if you are looking for typical British cafe food i would urge you to look elsewhere.

Just arrived home from a 2 night stay at this wonderful site. Fantastic setting in the valley and very peaceful. There are trains running past but these did not bother us at all. Very friendly host and a very well kept couple of fields. Very clean facilities with great thought given to social distancing and to minimise a possible cross infection. The only downer we experienced was an inconsiderate couple of campers who moved our table that we had left to mark our camper pitch to camp there themselves!! This does not reflect on the camp site at all. Would highly recommend.

The Bluebell Inn is a nice traditional village pub. There is an excellent choice of beers lager and cider, including two cask conditioned hand pulled real ales when I called in. There is a very large choice of gin. It's a nice cosy pub with a real fire in the bar. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. There's a nice beer garden and a covered outside seating area at the back.

Really disappointed considering the current score of 4.8. Locals were rude making you feel quite unwelcome. The staff were nice and friendly and got my wife and I a table to eat at. I almost wish they hadn't though, as the food was mediocre at best. We both asked for ribeye steaks but received what appeared to be a sirloin. Steak was full of fat and quite chewy/tough for a medium rare cook. Flavour was good but had to leave about a third of it due to the excessive amount of fat on the cut. The chips and black pudding were both under cooked, whilst the peas were over. No-one checked on us after being served and we left unsatisfied. Such a shame as it looked and felt like it was going to be good.
