The cafe is upstairs over a shop. It’s quite small but with pleasant staff, good service and excellent food, is worth a visit. The lunches were plentiful, very tasty and reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to return.

This is, without doubt, one of the best places to eat in Poulton. The food, service and ambiance are excellent. If you like hot chocolate drinks, this is definitely the place to go.

Lovely cafe upstairs from Gabriel's House gift shop. It's a nice, quaint atmosphere with good views over the churchyard if you manage to get a window seat. We had a prawn sandwich with delicious lemony mayo and salad. My friend ordered Brussels pate with salad. Both beautifully fresh and served. The service was extremely friendly and the two girls couldn't do enough. Really enjoyed our lunch and would definitely return.

walking through poulton we noticed a sign outside a shop for this cafe. the cafe is upstairs and the entrance is hidden at the back of the shop. i had the home made cottage pie which was delicious and my wife had a salad. The home made cakes looked enticing and they had my favourite apple pie and custard...again delicious. service good and friendly. there were quite a lot of people in and i guess this is a cosy meeting point from the locals we spoke to recommended

On entering the cafe saw the carpet was dirty and in need of updating with a more practical flooring.weordered the food and waited and waited and eventually got our tea and weak coffee with a sultana piece of cake bake followed much later by our soup which was a powder base and poor quality. So summarising poor service and very poor food and coffee, not recommended, good job the tea was ok,how can you go wrong with tea .They dang do scones just sultana cake ,soggy.

A couple of weeks ago I visited halo tea room in Poulton, and I had the afternoon tea .. I normally go in especially for their scones as they are the best and have been the same homemade recipe for 25 years + ... They are served warm and with jam and cream they are the best. All staff are wonderful, even though a few have left, service is fast and efficient. I would recommend this homely cafe and their scones. It would be a shame for them to go because of one bad review. I will be back. Also their meals are great, homemade and fresh served with a lovely salad.

Stopped by as Halo advertise afternoon tea description board reads afternoon tea sandwich of your choice warm scone with jam and clotted cream ..tea coffee ..As I enjoy afternoon tea this is what we ordered for two ...disssapointed when it arrived as no scone ..a slice of sultana traybake ...After enquiring had they run out of scones the owner I presume said no ...my husband replied "this cake not a scone" ...she snapped "it is a scone we make them in a big tray and people call in just for our scones" Sandwiches are fine coffee fine but beware as if your want traditional scone you won't get it here .. Very misleading to advertise it as scone ..its cake ...tray bake ..

Went in for lunch today but found it poor. Table was cleared but not wiped so we moved! We ordered food but when it came my food was rather salty. The coffee i asked to be made very weak was very strong. All that I can deal with but what I really didn't like, was the girl working behind the counter with very long blue false nails. When I ordered I assumed she just took orders however on going back over after eating my food I saw her preparing food. Not only can the nail varnish or indeed a nail come off into the food but the dirt & bacteria found under those nails is also going into the food we eat ewwwwwww. I won't be eating there again. At least wear gloves when prepping food in future!!!

I went to Halos with my 13 month today and couldn't have asked for better service. It's not always easy to have a lunch out with a toddler but he loved his perfect sized portion of homemade shepherd pie which was made just how he likes it. There were plenty of toys for him to play with which definitely helped me finish my super tasty soup in peace. Thank you so much guys for a brilliant dining experience, will be back soon! Ps, the carrot cake was definitely the best I've had xx

We decided on Halos as it was dog friendly. There was 9 in our party but each part of the family ordered and paid separately meaning three bills. We got our drinks very spaced out in fact one of them didn't come until some of the meals were served! One of my Son's ordered a breakfast and after about 10 minutes was informed there was no muffins left and would bread be ok. At least another five minutes and he was told there was no mushrooms either! He chose a cheese toastie instead! Meanwhile most of the party had received their food apart from the one drink, a cheese and leak pie and the toastie. We waited another five minutes and asked about the remaining items. The coffee was brought followed by the toastie started last but still no sign of the pie which was ordered at the very beginning! When we complained another order was produced and we pointed out it wasn't the right one. Bizarrely at the same time the guy that had been back and forth with our food and drinks started saying "we said it came with salad!" The lady pointed out that we weren't even talking about that! He offered us free drinks but declined at already full! The pie was brought out very quickly but the waitress shoved it in our faces saying "the pie!" Like it was our fault! When we complained the lady came back out and said they were sending the waitress that said "the pie!" home although that didnt happen while we were there and we all had to sit and wait for my Sister to eat her pie! When we were leaving no-one came out to apologise and my Sister went downstairs to pay on card and nothing was said about discount by way of an apology! Such a shame because it was our annual visit to lay a wreath for my Grandpa and we all look forward to a meal afterwards to be altogether!

The cafe is above the ground floor gift shop and the windows look out to St Chads pretty churchyard across the road. The caffitiere of coffee we shared was good as were the scones but as mentioned they are a little overpriced. The staff are nice and the cafe is cosy. The downside is that it only has a few tables and is a bit cramped so it isn't a place to linger with the newspapers.

Been to Halos many times for lunch and always had very good food and service, so thought it about time to post this as a thanks to them. Tasty sandwiches and salads freshly made and a good choice of hot drinks. Only thing to watch out for is the steep stairs as it is on the first floor above a very nice gift shop.

My husband and I visited the Halo cafe this afternoon for a late lunch. We thought it looked very quaint and had a nice atmosphere. There was a wide range of interesting things to choose from on the menu. I had potato cakes with cream cheese and smoked salmon and my husband had the crab and prawn open sandwich. It was all quite tasty but unfortunately very stingy portions. My husband got one piece of bread with about half a dozen prawns on top of the crab. Both came with a very small salad and literally a teaspoon of coleslaw. I also had a piece of Bakewell tart which was a small slither with no offer of cream or ice-cream. I feel this cafe is more than average but wouldn't say very good due to the portions. Came away still hungry.

We have always enjoyed it in here, but our last visit was frustrating. We ordered a dish off the lunch menu and waited...and waited..and waited. We were eventually told after about 15-20 mins that they did not have it available. So, having sat like muppets for nearly 20 mins we decided to leave; and unfortunately have not been back since. The food is good, which is a shame, so I do hope they improve the service, as the prices continue to rise !

Popped in Saturday for a late(ish) lunch. Been in before but only for drinks. I had salmon on potato cakes - so good! And my wife had the homemade cheese and leek (I had to have a taste cos it looked so inviting) it was lovely - what a difference for 'home made' to mean it and taste like it. We'll certainly back to try some of the other 'specials'.

'Halo's' is a family business where the food is consistently exellent! Nothing is deep fried. Thank heaven (get it, Heaven, Gabriels House, Halo etc :-) there are no chips anywhere on the menu. It is the only place my friends and family now eat in Poulton whether it's for breakfast or lunch. The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. If your food takes a short while to be freshly prepared, just relax, it will be worth it. And for afters, hope that some of Lisa's Victoria sponge is available. Superb selection of teas and coffees. While you're there, have a look round the gift shop. Great ideas, great quality, and if you were shopping in Lytham, you'd pay twice the price (or more)!

We visited this cafe just before Christmas and it was quite busy. There is a decent menu of common fair and our Fish Pie and Cottage Pies were very good and reasonably priced. The Cottage Pie was a bit unusual in that it was a block of potato that looked like it had been placed separately on top of some mince but once mashed a bit it looked fairly normal and tasted good. The staff were pleasant although perhaps because it was busy it seemed a bit slow.We were sitting at the top of the stairs and it was breezy from the shop door and the coat stand fell towards my wife twice.I think I'd go there again. As an overall impression it seemed a mixture of traditional trying to have some modern styling and a bit cramped and not very relaxed.

You may have to wait for a table, as this is certainly one of Poulton's most popular lunchtime cafes. The menu offers something for all tastes and appetites. Great light lunches and gorgeous homemade cakes. Vegetarian and gluten free dishes available. It's all done so nicely. Waiting times are fine and the staff are lovely.

We just needed a cup of tea & a cake! You would be forgiven for worrying as you climb the stairs from the gift shop! But everything was lovely. Proper tea pot! Decent tea & coffee. They had no cream for my scone but the waitress went scurrying off to the shop & bought some especially rather than jus saying I couldn't have it! Very impressed. My other half had the Victoria sponge & was equally impressed; it was obviously home-made. The entertainment was provided by a group of ladies watching a wedding. The running commentary of the fashionistas coming to the church opposite just added to the enjoyment! Recommend.

Always seems busy this place. One of our fairly regular venues in Poulton. Service is friendly and the atmosphere nice. Very clean. Lunchtime specials often include cottage pie and lasagna, both very good, and cakes are good too. A nice venue, but prices are creeping up somewhat !

Situated over "Gabriel's House" interior design shop, which is run by the same family, Halo's (geddit? Gabriel's.Halo's?) is an absolute treasure attracting a variety of patrons from "ladies who lunch" to business types. The menu is imaginative and the quality is first class, including delicious home made cakes and puddings, all prepared in plain sight in the tiny open kitchen. The owner and staff are friendly and provide efficient and unobtrusive service. Very busy at most times of day, with an atmosphere that "corporates" strive to create but seldom succeed. One gets the impression that they don't realise just how consistently good they are.

Poor service on arrival, no welcome greeting or anything. Could cut the tension between the staff in the OPEN kitchen with a spoon. No staff wearing gloves whilst handling meat and vegetarian options or anything in the kitchen for that matter. Share one fryer for meat and hash browns which are supposed to be vegetarian. Lady who handled food at the end just winged it into the hot hold as if it was rubbish. No wonder the hygiene rating isn’t on display.

We went for a large family meal 12+ people reserved. When we arrived they had run out of carvery knowing they had a reservation so we made due but when ordering we where also told they had ran out or steaks for the mix grill. We made due yet again but the food was cold and bland only redeeming quality was the outside area for are party. I will also add when paying the card machine automatically asks for a tip before you have even tasted your food or had service min options being 15%.
