Halfway House Bar and Grill in East Lindsey

We have been to the Half way House many times. The quality and variety of the food is alway excellent. We did steak on the stone which we always enjoy. Very friendly server -do not remember his name but he was very helpful. Would recommend this place any time.

We have eaten here many times and choose to come back for a special occasion. Steak pie- poor. Veg soggy. Pastry soggy and grey. Had to send back and re order main. Puddings mediocre. Felt doubled up on portions due to our complaint. Staff young and doing there best a shame no managerial oversight to support them.

Fish was disgusting frozen and soggy, has massively gone downhill. Came a few weeks ago had a stroganoff which had to send back as tasted bitter and full of powder, however I gave it another chance today and fully regret will not be coming back . Place is certainly not as clean as it used to be eating next to food splashed walls, what a shame used to be so lovely will not be wasting my money again

No atmosphere at all , food was not good . My husband had the fish which wasn’t brilliant, the fish wasn’t fresh and the chips tasted warmed up . I had the pie , pastry was rock hard and the rest wasn’t nice at all . My husband had a desert which he absolutely loved but obviously not cooked by the chef . Paying out bill they charged us double , after we realised there was no apology. Definitely won’t be going again !!

Stopped in for a bit to eat when returning home and really wish we hadn’t. A mediocre meal at best and the stroganoff was dreadful. It was fillet beef stroganoff which was nearly red in colour and I’ve had less mushrooms in some mushroom stroganoffs! Four pieces of beef and one which I could not chew. My husband had scampi which he stated was ok and my granddaughter had the burger. She enjoyed that and stated the sweet potato chips were tasty. Overall disappointing and the place is in need of sprucing up as a bit dated and not fresh smelling at all.

Staff were lovely and would give 5 stars for them, however the food wasn’t good. I had a burger with bacon which appeared to all be deep fried, if it wasn’t it tasted greasy. Another reviewer commented on their clothes smelling after visiting and I have to agree. Ours did too. We wouldn’t visit again.

25 friends and family have been today to celebrate my birthday. Have to say I was so disappointed with the meals. The fish was sent back as it smelt so bad, replacement was sent that was the same. The beef was awful, goodness knows which part of the cow it came from but I couldn't cut mine or chew it. Vegetables were served 10 mins after the main meal. Needless to say we will not be returning to the Halfway House.

Well it now makes sense why they offer a self cook option on the steaks. Their own chiefs can’t understand what a medium rare steak is. Both images are ‘supposed’ to be medium rare. Staff are pleasant however but doesn’t make up for a well and truely below average meal. Even with 20% off still brought a 1 course meal to £52. Can get better food in a weatherspoons.

Took a chance on this place on the way home from Louth, wish I hadn’t bothered. That’s £60 I won’t see again. Pork Sunday dinner inedible , slices of pork covered in fat. Was supposed to come with stuffing and sausage, neither received. Asked for this so some stuffing came out - not sure what happened to the sausage but from the looks of the stuffing I’d lost interest in it. I would describe it as a school dinner. Won’t be back. Servers were nice enough and that’s the reason for any rating at all.

Gosh, safe to say the worst place to eat, the place is dated, scruffy, mis match of furniture. The service was fine. Drinks - given an out of date bottled coke to start (only just out of date but still) the food - kids burger - macdonalds would of been better. steak pie sunday dinner - carrots broccoli potatoes all hard, not cooked properly, steak pie was ok tasting but very few bits of meat, mash ok, parsnip - nice, cabbage bland. i think maybe frozen veg? beef sunday dinner - again veg etc all the same, meat was ok?

Main Meal brought out before the Starters, we had to ask for the Plates to be cleared from the Table before Sweet could be ordered and was not asked if we would like coffees etc. 3 young Staff chatting at the Bar. One of the Guests Birthday so was difficult to say too much on the night.

Nothing good to say about it. Came out with clothes smelling of badly cooked Steak - didn't matter if you was eating it or not.

would not return nor recommend to anyone unfortunately, different chef really not good such a shame as we have liked it here previous visits. chef cooked the steak was meant to be medium was well overcooked burnt and dry, chips greasy and soggy.

First visit to the restaurant and we were not disappointed! Service second to none and the menu was varied for all tastes. Dessert was amazing! We will definitely be back for seconds. Thanks to all of the staff 👍👍🍷

We had sunday lunch 3 adults 1 child 6 years. 2 had pork loin including child which was 90% fat which is NOT loin. The roast potatoes were rock hard couldn't cut them seemed like pre cooked and put in deep fat fryer to warm up again. Couldn't get knife in the cauliflower that was Rock hard given no salt and pepper. The food was a major disappointment as was special treat for wifes 70th birthday. Do not recommend this place at all will NOT return. Absolute waste of £50 plus. Don't know if been taken over but certainly needs improving a carvery at a local pub would have been tastier and cheaper.

Had a superb rock grill for 4 of us, food and service were great. Our waitress was lovely and could run courses in how to be welcoming, friendly and offer just the right amount of attention. Staff were very professional and cheerful despite the terrible uncertainty for catering businesses caused by the coronavirus situation. We wish everyone the very best.

Not been in ages ,years in fact,4 of went last week and we all had the hot rock grill,the food was superb even cooked the chips as we wanted them (well done) ,we had starters and mains and really could not fault anything ,the staff where very good and polite .we cant wait to go back ,my current favourite go to for steak, lets hope its consistent unlike some others .

As Christmas style Sunday lunches go it was reasonable although the accent on quantity was more pronounced. Staff were untrained and not used to coping with groups settling to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere - but that was probably reflected in the prices. It was not a personal choice so doubt there will be a return visit.Convenient, good parking. The piece de resistance was the large photo of four babes with assorted visual aids and gasps of amusement overlooking the gents urinals. Non PC ou quoi?

Me and my partner came here for a New Years eve meal and the service was appalling. Don’t get me wrong the lady that brought us our food was absolutely lovely, she looked like the cook or kitchen assistant (not front of house) but the lady behind the bar and the lady that took our meal order who looked like the manager as she was in ordinary clothes,they were rude, obnoxious and sarcastic. After 2 wrong drink orders and then being commented at on how we was eating our meal, I had had enough. This was the first time we had visited and will be the last. The food was lovely but the service was unwelcoming. I suffer with anxiety and I felt on edge the whole time whilst getting evil looks from the pregnant lady behind the bar.

My partner and I went for a meal Saturday evening. I had Parsnip soup for started, Blade of beef for main. My girlfriend had Garlic Mushrooms for starter, Chicken in a Mushrooms and cream sauce. Three drinks and this quality all for under £50. I can't recommend the halfway house enough . The venue and food was superb, good quality pub food. We don't have enough good places in Lincolnshire like this . We will be back!

We came again after such a wonderful Sunday lunch last time and this time was even more execeptionate.We both ended up having the set menu off the festive menu, myself having the parsnip soup and roast turkey, my other half having the king prawns and beef featherblade. It was all piping hot and cooked to perfection.Had a glass of warm mulled wine for dessert, which was just to die for!The service was brilliant and so attentive.Reasonably priced for large portions and great tasting food. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone. Will be returning in the new year.

We ate here after going to see the seals near by, we had three sandwiches one jacket potato, 2 sides, 3 drinks and 3 desserts it was £95!!!!!!! NINETY FIVE pounds!!!! For 2 chicken ciabattas, 1 jacket potato, 1 tuna spread sandwich which was like a child’s sandwich absolutely tiny, two mozzarella sticks which were burnt, rock hard and tasted of nothing. Apple crumble each which were tiny little the size of a satsuma with tinned custard. All for the absolute robbery of £95, we literally double checked the bill as we thought it was a mistake. Absolute complete robbery nothing more.

I spent a day with my son who lives in Laceby Acres. We decided, after much discussion, to go to the Half Way House for lunch. Lovely decor, etc, excellent service and very good food My son had a steak and I had the gammon-both very good. I then had the ginger shortbread cheesecake and he had a hot chocolate. All really lovely. An excellent lunch.

Had a evening meal , thought the service was excellent, though there are new staff on every time we visit, had the scallops and black pudding as starter, the scallops were pretty small and i don't think this was worth the price, had the jumbo haddock as main, that was massive and well worth the price it was very well cooked.

What a lovely surprise ... this place was not at all what I thought it was going to be. Lovely atmosphere, and fabulous food ... highly recommend the steak pie.

We went in for Sunday lunch and called before we got there to make sure they had a table. We were greeted and seated and once we'd looked at the menu ordered our drinks and decided we'd go for the 2 courses for £13.50, I ordered soup of the day, which was broccoli and stilton, my GF ordered the paté. They were both really nice, especially the paté, for our main course we both ordered roast beef. When they came, on the plate was 2 good pieces of beef, 2 x roast potatoes, 2 x new potatoes and some gravy. In one bowl there was mashed Swede and boiled cabbage and in another there was broccoli and cauliflower. With another small gravy boat.

I enjoyed going for lunch with my Mum, we were both full up after just having main courses. My Mum had a chicken burger and I had fish and chips. The service could have been better though.

Couldn't fault it really great food bit expensive but you get what you pay for would visit again. Bar and restaurant staff met our needs.

Came with my family on the off chance and we could get a table. Such a warm and friendly greeting when we arrived, we were seated at a well laid out table. The waitress informed us that we had the table for 2 hours then it was booked out again, which wasn't a problem at all.

Average food even if it was expensive ! Biggest issue It was alive with flies!!! On driving out noticed the outside door to the kitchen was open Opportunity for the flies to enter via the kitchen. Oh dear

We called in for lunch, whilst having a day out in the area on the recommendation of my Dad who had visited last year, we were very impressed, a warm welcome from the staff and great service, we chose the burgers from the specials board and my Dad had the roast, everything was beautifully cooked, and really enjoyed it.

Lovely reception and the staff are beyond amazing. Very clean and for the men there’s a little surprise for you haha. I would definitely go back again soon.

Visited Early afternoon. Decided to eat. All three of us chose baked potato with Brie and cranberries served with salad. Really nicely presented and extremely tasty, we all agreed it was the best pub meal we had eaten, well done chef. Would also like to mention the charming and efficient young lady who served us. Will certainly visit again, and recommend friends.

Me and my wife have frequented this place for a number of years, lately it came to be under new management and I must say the new menu is fantastic we had a 3 course meal tonight at a reasonable cost and the food was exquisite lots of new flavours and choice available, clean plates all round from us two, front of house staff are very attentive and make sure your expectations are met whilst attending to your needs, the place has a nice friendly ambiance about it. keep up the good work team would recommend a visit if you haven’t been

The staff were all friendly and helpful, service was quick and efficient and the food well presented. But eating it proved impossible as we were soon surrounded by a plague of Flies. When I counted three all on my food at once I gave up. On mentioning this problem to a member of staff I was told "We can't help it. Its summer and so all the windows are open" Have they never heard of such innovations as Fly screens?

We have been to halfway house a few times over the last 3 years always had good service staff lovely atmosphere and fantastic food as always a favourite place to go with the ladies who dine club so we were so shocked after another great evening to find it had actually changed hands you would never know we’ll done to you both you did not disappoint and oh yes we will be back.

we called in on the 7th may for lunch and were not disappointed. the staff were friendly very helpful with smiles on their faces. the food was well cooked, tasty and plenty of it. we live outside the area and were lucky to find this lovely place. we recommend this place to passing and locals alike. next time we are in the area we will deffinatley make a return visit both of us are disabled everywhere is accessable and nothing was to much trouble for the staff

Reliably good steakhouse , like the volcanic rock cooking option to cook to perfection. Steamed veg was lovely and fresh, didn’t have the chips but they looked good, nice n chunky. Air con could be better to clear the smoke but other than that, a good night , great food , great staff

I Have lived in Lincolnshire for 29 years but never visited this place , formerly called The Granby. The service was nice , the food spot on and the staff very friendly . My thanks to Kayla and the chefs

First visit with friends, not disappointed. Kayla who looked after us was a great asset to the company. Friendly without being familiar, knew about every dish and was helpful. Food excellent and beautifully served. Would certainly recommend a visit.

We had the most wonderful meal with attentive service, steak, and ale pie, well you can't get better, being gluten-free I had a great fish dish with a mushroom cream sauce and great aldenty vegetables, we look forward to our next visit.

This is a popular venue so obviously a hit with many local people. The restaurant area has a nice decor. We found the staff did not take into account that people may be visiting for the first time and expected you to know what to do. The bar is your start and end point but is also a local pub so was layered with local lads having a drink and a laugh with the bar staff. This made it difficult to announce our arrival and to pay at the end. Especially as the staff were far from friendly with 'new faces' but very friendly to their regulars. Waiting staff were not helpful in explaining the procedures as to how to pay. The food was not great either. The fillet steak was fatty and tough and comes without any seasoning. Furthermore, 'fun' cook it yourself experience meant that it was overcooked and too hot to eat halfway through the meal. Everything you order costs extra and having 3 raw medium sized prawns on a skewer for £5 shows it is not a cheap venue (and you cook those yourself). Desserts were good though and lots of young customers at other tables seemed to really love their experience. For them it was a quick place to eat before moving on. Walking through a dense mist of smokers to enter and leave was not pleasant and made sure this was one place we wouldn't go again but I'm sure they are not concerned as some love it here as they are obviously often busy!

I called for a birthday meal and had a three course meal with the steak and it was delicious, I would highly recommend.

Came to this restaurant having read some glowing reviews and let me tell you we wasn’t disappointed the food and service was amazing I know how hard it is to run a rest we have one in Louth the Helal so thank you everyone it’s was amazing

Fatty cheap steak! Was awful, then they ask if you want any sauce with it then end up charging you for them! They need to say this comes at an extra cost! Not impressed.

We ate at the halfway House last night, there were seven people, two people had the house burger which was fine, the hash browns arrived fifteen minutes later as they had been forgotten. One person had halibut which was very nice and another had the salmon, once again very nice. The vegan curry was tasty but there wasn't much of it and the rice portion was minute so I was left still feeling rather hungry, I would have expected a naan bread with a curry. The other two people had had rump steak and lamb skewers, they had asked for them meat to be cooked in the kitchen as they are not keen on the hot rocks being on the table, they were told that it would take longer which was fine. The steak and lamb arrived around half an hour or so later with the other meals but was very over cooked and dry, they were sent back and they both opted for the hot rocks as it was quicker, everyone else had already started their meals when they arrived, the meat wasn't great on either.The waiting staff were very helpful and pleasant but I think the kitchen staff need to get it together. It was fairly busy but nothing out of the ordinary. I personally wouldn't return but can't speak for the other people although I don't think they were too impressed.

This venue is a delight. The furnishings are classy, the food is great, the staff friendly and helpful. I couldn't fault it!

Wow where do we start. Dirty and uncleaned table (which we sat at all night as they didn't clean it) food ordered took over 50 mins to arrive and when it did it was wrong! Staff rude and abrupt! My child ordered chicken and it was RAW! Whoever the chef is and the management need to take a reality check. This place used to be good!!

We have been here many times over the last 4 years and the quality of the food in particular the steak has always been excellent but tonight in particular we would like to pay compliment to the service. We would like to thank Cala for being really friendly and providing brilliant service. Unfortunately we couldn’t leave a tip via card payment, we feel it was necessary on this visit but didn’t have any change, so felt bad for not showing our gratitude with a tip. So we are hoping mentioning something on a review goes a long way and for maybe the owners to implement tips in card payments. Also the chocolate orange and amaretto torte blew my mind. So thanks again will definitely visit again as long as the quality remains as good as it has been all these years.

Went to celebrate my daughters birthday. We all ordered steak, as it comes on a hot stone, so you take it off and cook as you need , so the steaks are cooked to your liking, and all the food can be placed on the stone to keep hot. No good for children however, as they can burn their fingers, but there is a childrens menu at around £5 50. We ordered different things including kangaroo steak-- rump. lamb, fillet, rib eye. Wine starts at £15.50 a bottle Very different and would certainly go back again if I wanted a steak

A lovely meal with friends let down only by the slow inattentive service, maybe due to being busy. Will we give it another go in the new year as the food was good.

Together with my twin brother and his wife, Richard and Diane, and Pat we went to see my son Gareth who lives in Laceby Acres. We picked up his girlfriend Becky and went to the Halfway House for lunch. Very nice inside. We had drinks then Gareth and Becky had steaks, two had lasagne, one had a pie and I had gammon. Six very satisfied customers. Four of us had puddings-my chocolate desert was amazing. Really good food. And the service was outstanding. I highly recommend it.

Firstly food was good however the place itself was so cold it made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. Service too left a lot to be desired which was a shame.

We phoned on the way home from Rand Farm to check if we could have a table last minute for myself, my husband and our two girls aged 3 and 6. The lady on the phone was very welcoming and found a table for us which was ready for us as soon as we arrived which was only 15 minutes later. I loved that you are able to order child's portions of the Sunday Lunches. My eldest had the roast chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Roast Beef and loved it. My husband had Roast Pork and loved it too. My youngest daughter had the children's sausages, mash and peas and really enjoyed it. The staff were so welcoming and a lovely touch was when our waitress took my youngest girl to show her the little nativity scene behind the bar. I have to say it is the best Sunday Lunch I have eaten in a long time and I can't wait to return. Thank you again.

Me and my wifes first visit here. Visited on a Tuesday tea time, so wasn't expecting many in but to be fair there was a handful in and getting busier by the time we left with a couple of parties booked in. So let's get the worst thing of the night out of the way first, it was cold, to cold to be just sat down. Cranking the heating up a degree would have helped. Apart from that everything else was excellent. Greeted by a lovely lady and we explained we had booked a table but we were 45 minutes early. Not a problem. Nice to have a different choice of starters from the usual so we had panko feta and oinion loaf, very nice. I had the rib-eye whilst my wife had the kangaroo. Both cooked perfectly to how we wanted them. Both had homemade chips, whilst i had the blue cheese sauce and my wife the brandy and black pepper, both were gorgeous. Unusually for us we both had dessert, lime ginger mascarpone torte for me, again very tasty and light, sponge pudding for my wife, again tasted lovely. We left full which is always a good sign but not bloated. I understand you can, if you wish, to cook your own steak at your table but to be honest i do enough cooking, no point in going out to cook for myself but each to their own.

We regularly eat here and can honestly say that we have never had a disappointing meal. The staff are, without exception, friendly and efficient and cannot do enough to make your experience at the Halfway House a pleasant one. The menu is varied and imaginative and the chef has never failed to cook it to a high standard. This is our restaurant of choice for consistently good food and great service.

Went there over weekend. Clean establishment with lovely staff. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Food was amazing. Will go again.

On Saturday we decided to go to the half way house. We have been here so many times and had lovely meals. This time however was completely the opposite. We where rushed to order as a table of 12 was due, my wife’s meal “Meat Pie” had obviously been reheated, the crust was soggy, and parts of the food hot and some cold. The new potatoes where cold, sticky and some black. Not great very disappointed!

I arrived at Halfway House Bar and Grill at approximately 3.30pm on Saturday 20 October 2018. I'd worked in the local area all morning/afternoon, leaving my originating destination many hours earlier.

Visited this restaurant several times and unfortunately have to say this time was a disappointment. Roast beef was tough and I advised the waitress to let the manager know, which she didn’t . No reduction on the bill which I queried but was politely refused. A small reduction on a £110 bill would have been acknowledgement this was a one off bad experience and an incentive for me to return, however in the circumstances I won’t.

We have visited before and it has been ok but after tonight’s visit will consider options before going again. Four of us visited and we intended on 3 courses but 3 of us could not find a starter we liked on the menu with none of the usual favoirites being there so we all passed.

I found the waitress moody and unhelpful, which instantly put me off. The food was ok, but what steak house makes you choose either only two sides where salad and coleslaw is one of them.
