The reviews were right, food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Highly recommended.

We went here in a small group and ordered a selection of burgers, fries and assorted sides. The food arrived quickly and was perfect. The burgers were cooked how we asked, mine was nice and pink and so tasty. The fries were perfectly seasoned and the slaw was fresh and zingy The service was excellent, friendly and attentive I’d also recommend the espresso martini as an aperitif, wow it was amazing ……… and the music was rocking 🎶🎸 All in all a great lunchtime meal. We’ll definitely be back

I came from Oxfordshire to try this burger as my friend had been praising it for years. I was not disappointed. One of the juiciest, most flavourful burgers I have ever had. The food took a while as there was a fryer problem. But it was worth the wait. The staff were very friendly.

A good spot around the seafront area that can offer a good meal and drink service and in short notice booking as well. A good range of food and drink here.

Disappointing burger - patty was small compared to what I have had elsewhere. Lots of onion relish, which overpowered the flavour of the burger and 1 or 2 salad leaves that were lost. Fries were given lots of seasoning. I'm not familiar with what else is in the area - it was okay but not great value for money.

We visited here with our 1 year old, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating, making us feel so welcome there. The burger was the best burger I have ever eaten and the food was just all round great! Thank you all for an amazing dinner

I eat a lot of burgers, but Half Man! Half Burger! is probably my favourite. It can get busy and the seats and tables aren't the comfiest, but it doesn't matter because the burgers are brilliant. I would eat here every day if my GP would let me!

Whilst funky atmosphere the burger was fine (toppings bacon cheese etc) made it tasty for me, my partner was underwhelmed as our burgers were £12 each, the fries you buy separately they were OK but most of bowl was small chip bits (like the dregs) two cans of soda and the whole lot over £40 ...we asked for mayo and chilli on looking at my receipt mayo was 75p sricha chilli 1.50 this was for less than a dessert spoon not sure why these are not complimentary? We weren't advised they would cost. I can get a fab meal, just along the same building, for two of us for half the total price of this meal. Staff seemed friendly enough but charging for those little add ons like mayo just gives the air of money grabbing and not customer first. I doubt I'll be back as other local burger places are as good and not tight with the mayo.

Dissapointed really. £12 for the burger but fair enough ok, it wasnt a bad burger. £4 for some bits of chips and £3.75 for a 33cl can of soda. But what took the mick for me was being charged for a very small amount of chilli sauce and mayonnaise (£2.25.) PLUS service of 10% added to bill! Feel jibbed!

I was spoken to as though I had wronged them and that I was doing something dishonest and when I told them how unprofessional their way of treating the customer was, I was moaned at by the manager, the phone was put down on me and I still have no refund. I will never step foot in this business and I will tell everyone not to frequent a rude, unprofessional and dishonest business. Word of mouth matters in St Leonard’s and Hastings. Remember that when you overcharge people and then tell them that their business is not welcome.

Last minute plan to check this place out. Completely unbiased as I never bother to read reviews if I'm picking a spur of the moment kinda place. Visited on Tuesday early evening and sat outside. Reasonably busy inside and a good vibe and awesome decor. Promptly served and food brought out not long after. 3 well done burgers, 1 medium each with fries, 3 soft drinks and a beer. All 4 burgers came out medium (pink), with a house full of fussy eaters this was going one way or another. Thankfully, they loved them.. big relief for me as simply hate complaining unless absolutely needed. Burgers were delicious ( their words ), mine, The Chilli Nelson was perfectly cooked because I wanted medium anyway and just enough of a spicy kick to it without ruining it. Cajun fries were my choice and these were banging! Pack with flavour and absolutely loads of them. Staff very attentive and friendly. Had a great chat with who I presumed to be the owner, great guy, clearly passionate about his business and had a great chat about football - that I was very unsociabley watching at the time. Service charge was included and more than happy with this. Look forward to a return visit when I'm next in the area.

This is a cool place and the burgers are very good indeed with excellent vegan options. Good food, good beer and always very friendly service what more could you want?

Great burgers, atmosphere and service. Staff are brilliant and charming, this is a very special place and is clearly run with love. The staff look like they are part of the business and happy to be there. It’s full of customers who seem to be regulars. Excellent seafront location.

We don't usually do American food on vacation but made an exception and can tell you this place cooks

RIP HMHB. Used to be the best place in town now well past it's prime. Burgers are much smaller than they used to be (single patty vs double previously) and they were hugely lacking in flavour, cheese was literally so thin as to be transparent and the chips were rock hard and unseasoned. Cocktails were good and service was too but I get the feeling that lots of people are making the same complaints based on the feedback we got when asked how it was.

Expensive, and kinda worth it to be honest.

Best burger in the UK, hands down.

Went here for lunch ordered a BBQ Burger and Fries. The service was quick and the cashier was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant had a chilled atmosphere. The burger was absolutely gorgeous and the fries were well seasoned and vibrant with flavour. I highly recommend this spot I will be returning again!

Had a takeaway as a treat for my son’s birthday, his choice not ours and it was awful. The food was lukewarm at best, the rosemary fries were lacking rosemary and the smokestack that was supposed to have bacon in didn’t appear to but it turned out to be tiny chopped up bits, not sure what that was about as in the past it’s been rashers of bacon. Even the coleslaw was subpar. Definitely won’t be ordering from here again. Was promised a refund and nothing was forthcoming so I’ve decided to leave a review that I was hoping not to. I understand that restaurants go through changes etc but this was so bad. Was an expensive disappointment

Ordered a medium done burger. It came out very dry and the patty was about half the size of the bun. I thought it was a joke. I complained and they made me a new burger. Look at the difference between the 2 burgers they gave me. Comical.

Small cozy place clearly focusing on burgers. Burgers are good, not great but enough to come back. If you are hungry definitely order full shebang with sides and etc.

Ordered via Uber eats and they still get my address wrong . Used to get a good portion of rosemary fries for the money charged but no longer , was a very small portion .

(The Yard) Best experience we’ve ever had in a burger place!: Food delicious - Yummiest burger by far!! Flavourful, delicious, filling and all round a perfect burger! Chips - cooked to perfection! Had some rosemary flavouring which we thought would be weirded, but even our 3 year old enjoyed them so pretty good all round. Pudding - To die for!! Service: very accommodating. 8 of us in total ( 6 adults ( 1 in a wheel chair who doesn’t eat), a toddler and a newborn baby. Tables were moved, asking if they could do anything for the person in the wheelchair, accommodated for our baby to be breastfed, nothing was ever too much trouble!! Nothing to complain about! Amazing experience.

We always enjoy having a burger here. The staff are so welcoming, always happy and smiling. Burgers are tasty, rosemary fries are good and they even do a pooch patty for dogs. Lovely atmosphere, kitchen looks spotless. Very nice vibe. Wish it stayed open a little later in the evenings. Update: They still haven't fixed the door which doesn't close properly - been like it for months. It was chilly this evening and we were seated near the door. My husband had to get up literally 20 times to close it as diners and delivery drivers came and went. Ridiculous. Also they turned people away at 8.45 on a Saturday evening.

It works out at around £20 each for a burger, chips and soft drink……ridiculous The chips are very weird. Each time it feels like it must be the end of the packet with all the broken ones. Little bits of chip instead of chips Burgers nothing special. Not bad, just average but overpriced. Staff friendly BUT The waiting staff were greeting dogs and touching them, then serving tables without washing their hands. We watched it more than once. Has there been no health and safety or hygiene training? We left feeling we should have gone for a proper meal somewhere rather than spending £20 each on average quality food. We May have given a 3 instead of 2 but the staff touching dogs and not washing hands was just horrible.

Very big disappointment for us with the children. As it was impossible to make a reservation for less than 5 on the site, we decided to go without reservation. On site, it's full, the waiter tells us that a table will become available in about 15 minutes, that we can wait outside. So we waited on the other side of the boulevard looking at the sea. 13 minutes later we returned, but the table was not kept for us. Other people sat down. No apology from the waiter.. "oh yes, I forgot to rate you..." ... Thank you for the waste of time, not to mention the disappointment of the children (and parents)

Great burgers, great atmosphere.

I went here with my boyfriend and family on Sunday, during the water shortage. The staff were extremely friendly, very accommodating and the food was phenomenal. The different types of fries they do are 10/10, and during the water shortage we got the option of tater tots which I personally believe they should add to the menu because it goes phenomenally with the chilli fries dish. I recommend anyone to go here, or to any Half Man, Half burger. The food is exceptional. Best burger restaurant.

Writing up some reviews as waiting on a burger in my local town as another place let me down and whilst waiting and salivating I remembered the best one I ever had was from here about 2016, went here from time to time as ex was a vegan and they catered for vegans which was for a burger joint still a mild oddity then, especially in small coastal towns. She always seemed happy with burger she got and the beef ones I've had about 3- 4 times in total from this place all of them I reckon all would make it into my top 10. They are good enough for me to remember that I must return here one day and hope the quality is the same, always rammed which often a good sign, fries and extra toppings if you fancy it are excellent if you can fit them in or are willing to share. Hope this place is doing as well as ever, it seems an independent that deserves to thrive on its quality alone, I don't remember it being expensive for an up market burger joint either. Wish it was not about 60 - 80 miles away.

Went for dinner, and ordered for collection. Incredibly slow, not particularly great service and just a dirty establishment. Definitely used to be good, but it’s now overpriced with cheap ingredients. It’s a case of trying to hard to be relevant whilst competitors take over.

Can honestly recommend this place it was amazing. 1 of the best place my family have eaten. Will definitely be back! Having a family of 8 is sometimes hard to find something for everyone on the menu, but this catered for us and did not disappoint at all. All the staff were super friendly too.

I am a very big fan of street food especially burgers. Travelling for work my colleague pointed out that we were close by to HMHB and of course thought it would be rude not to come and try. I was certainly not disappointed, although small in appearance the restaurant had a nice vibe and an old school hip hop playlist, which gets a thumbs up from me. For food it was an easy choice, Double Blue from a Bun and Chilli cheese fries. This is easily a top 5 burger for me, really exceptional and extremely tasty and the fries were also superb. Accompanied by a nice crisp pint of Camden Hells, what more could I wish for, service was great and all in all a very good experience. I would highly recommend you visit if you are in the area, you won't be disappointed. 🍔🍟🍻❤️🤤👏

An American burger diner is only as good as its milkshakes. If they are proper thick malted shakes, like all good burger diners across America are. It gets my seal of approval, and instantly becomes the best place in town to take the kids b4 or after a trip to the cinema.... Unfortunately this place didn't even bother, apart from that, they have a very poor selection of non alcoholic drinks... their chips are awful soggy over cooked & incredibly overpriced and although the burger is pretty decent it's overcooked, the bacon is burnt to the point of being inedible & the cheese is so small it's hardly noticeable... all these problems make it an over prjced no go zone that's bad value for money.... What a pity, but the bright side is that... there is a much better burger place 100m past the pier by the state park in the downstairs courtyard, they do better burgers & better chips with much larger portions and it's cheaper too.. its a no brainer, go there instead if you want to have a decent burger & chips, and save money too.

I just wanted to warn anyone thinking about ordering food from here through Uber Eats. We love the food at HMHB and the restaurants and staff are great too but their delivery service (Uber Eats) is unreliable and might take your money and leave you with no food. We just got scammed out of £50 by ordering HMHB food via Uber. The driver never turned up and then hung up on us when we called, then blocked our phone number. If anyone from HMHB reads this, please listen to all the reviews on here about the delivery service that you have signed up to and ditch them.

Stopped in here on a day trip. Possibly one of the best burgers we've ever had and the cocktails were phenomenal. The sides are fantastic too. Really friendly staff and great value for money.

Ordered from here for the first time after hearing good things. As a vegetarian I was very happy with the choice offered and although it needed a quick blast in the air fryer. It tasted amazing - will be back for more. Also amazing was the coleslaw - yummy 😋 Unfortunately the chips were cold and limp and even after an airfryer blast they didn't taste good and I threw them away.

As a local, this place do great burgers. Maybe not as good as when they originally opened and I really miss their chilli burger they use to serve. Not to be confused with the chilli burger which is with chilli con carne! That said it is the only destination for me if I’m eating a burger. Staff always nice, nice environment and a sea view to boot (albeit with the road in the way) Another place that’s great to take the kids!

Awesome burgers! I tried a new seasonal one and my boyfriend tried a classic option. They were both absolutely delicious. The chipotle sauce is the best thing you could dip your fries in.

Very good burgers and chips in a very small restaurant. Fair prices. We tried the cheese burger and it was excellent, especially the meat and the bun. Also the Christmas edition of cole slaw. Crazy name for a salad but it was very good. The beer was in a German pils and lager style from the tap. Very good!

This branch has seriously gone downhill in the last few months. I’ve just had a burger where the patty hadn’t been charred so didn’t have much flavour, there was a third of the amount of gherkin as usual, and the amount of cheese was so small I couldn’t taste it. £11.50 plus delivery charges. I didn’t get fries bc last time I did they were so burnt they were inedible - waste of £4. Surely if they’re orange and the rosemary and salt isn’t sticking to them that should be your clue they’re overcooked. The burger I had before that was pretty tasteless too. So stick to The Yard branch, where the quality is maintained. Sadly UberEats allocates your branch so I’m going to have to collect from now on. HMHB, please sack the lazy cook you have at this branch, your food costs too much to be this much of a letdown.

Love the place Came with my partner as we've seen the amazing review and I must say it totally deserves it. Had an amazing Blues from a bun burger and Lets sticky together burger. The beef is literally melting in the mouth. Great cheese cake as well. Appreciated the staff help on directions and places to eat / visit around the area.

Was only in town for the weekend and nearly missed this gem! Agreed best burger and veggie burger we’ve had, great sticky fries too. Go or you’ll never know

We ordered home delivery and were very impressed by the friendly service (I had to call up to check allergens.) They were able to cater to my no dairy and no gluten needs. The burgers were so delicious that I actually ordered a second one! Only improvement would be that the chips were cold when they arrived (perhaps they could be foil wrapped rather than in cardboard?) Would definitely recommend!

In the area for work. This place is really near my hotel so gave it a go. Wow. 10/10. Best burgers and sides I've had for a meal of this type. Get yourselves there! Unique and distinct flavours which is hard when it comes to burgers. Banging!! I'll be back tomorrow!

It was very enjoyable sitting outside on a beautiful sunny evening, food was good, service perhaps a little slow (but we were warned before we ordered) and great atmosphere amongst those sitting at the tables outside.

Ordered the chilli and the gonzo. I didn’t quite read the menu so was slightly surprised by the chilli con carne on my burger as I expected just chillies. The menu delivered what it promised but I won’t be back in a rush. The chips were lovely and crispy, and beef patties nice and meaty. Also got the impression that they are catering more for collection and delivery - there aren’t tables inside and we weren’t offered cutlery, but again, I do appreciate that it’s me being overly particular by needing to half my burger to eat properly.

Absolutely love HMHB - I went there fleetingly about 8 years ago, and then spent 3 years trawling up and down the south coast looking for it, between chichester and hastings - all because I hadn't taken a note on their name (and their margaritas didn't help the cause either!). WELL, now I've found them again, I'm reminded the epicness of their original menu. I usually get the chilli cheese fries with one of their awesome non alcoholic beers. All made on the premises, and fresh - tasteful - and plenty filling without a burger I find. Just love this place . Whenever I'm stopping by St Leonards - I always go here.

Enjoyable burger and fries, cooked as you wanted - I am coming again

I have been coming here for years but based on my recent experience at the St Leonards branch I won't return to this venue again. It seems the priority now is Uber eats and online orders rather than dine in. Sat waiting for over an hour to receive my food. When it did arrive it the wrong burger and the fries were burned and unseasoned. Oh and the portions are considerably less than they used to be. I used to barely be able to finish a meal now I leave hungry.

The chomps were burnt and it felt like they used what was left from the bottom of the tray as these were all small hard bits, the cheese burger was also greasy as well and one had a part of the core of the lettuce in it.. very poor and seems to have slipped the standards we used to enjoy

I contacted your Instagram about my Marina visit, but after 3 weeks had no reply. "Have always enjoyed visits but sadly I am losing my fan status...The prices seem to have gone up exponentially (I know a lot of places have but this seemed far fetched). The fries and burgers should come together as it becomes a really expensive meal, with a lot more places offering gourmet burgers now at competitive prices. What disappointed me is that the service was really slow today, the food took ages only for my burger to miss key ingredients which I had to send it back for, with little apology from the staff. There was no coleslaw and my visit at same branch two weeks prior was the same. Our fries were barely fries too and just burnt ends of potato, hardly any actual fries. The restaurant was empty, which at first surprised me but maybe it makes a bit of sense?!" Unfortunately don't think I will be rushing back at all now.
