Haks Little Chinese in Harrogate

What have you got to do to get a decent takeaway in this town?? The food here was terrible and i thought i had already had the worst chinese in Harrogate, but this is now it. The ribs were that tough they were inedible. The chow mein, bland and tasteless. Complete waste of good money. It has gone in the bin.

Went in on a Saturday night without a booking but we were lucky to get in. Had a superb meal. So fresh, hot and tasty. The staff were delightful and friendly. Well priced and so pleased to get a table. I would recommend Haks to anyone as it’s one of the best Asian restaurants I’ve eaten at for a long time.

We were made to feel very welcome, even though we were their first customers on a cold, mid week November evening. We chose the mixed starter, alongside a selection of dimsum, accompanied by noodles with bean sprouts. The quality of the ingredients really shone through as did the level of care that had obviously been taken in the kitchen. My personal favourite was the Pork and Prawn Siu Ma, which were delicious and bursting with flavour.

This is the best Chinese restaurant ever, The food is amazing and the service is spot on. The staff are so attentive. Would 100% recommend if you are visiting Harrogate.

First time visit. Used to eating best Chinese restaurants in London. The food was almost as good the service could not have been better. Very professional. Will certainly go again.

Great food and lovely staff. We arrived without booking and they fit us in (we had to wait an hour so we went for a drink at Harrogate Tap). We had three dim sum starters which were fantastic, especially the pork rapped in bean curd. Then we shared beef with green pepper and black bean sauce and peppercorn szechwan chicken and accompanied it with some noodles. Very good and friendly staff. Had a bottle of wine too, total came to £86 including a 10% tip.

Service and Food were first class. It's a small restaurant but has a very nice atmosphere.

This is just a beautiful restaurant.The staff are so welcoming and friendly,can’t do enough for you,not rushed at all like some places these days. We had duck spring rolls starter and chicken satays,both were as nice as each other. I had Thai king prawn curry and my husband had stir fry with Chinese spices sauce,we shared a bowl of noodles with spring onions. Everything was so tasty,clean plates all round. We shared a lovely bottle of wine then Irish coffees and brandy’s. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and will certainly go back.

We were on a brief holiday for our anniversary and love Chinese food, so this seemed a good bed. So much Chinese food is low-quality, budget food for the cheap takeaway market. It was a relief to find somewhere where the chef clearly cares about producing really lovely food. The choice was wide, the staff were very courteous and pleasant. We had a fabulous meal. I wish it was near where we live!

This is a really small but very cute little Chinese restaurant. We visited on a Saturday evening while on a weekend in Harrogate and we weren't disappointed. Starters we had were grilled vegetable dim sum and chicken sweetcorn soup. Mains were crispy chilli beef and Thai green curry, with steamed and egg fried rice. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. Service was quick without feeling rushed, and we were asked if we were ready for our main course. The restaurant was busy with lots of take away orders being collected. We'll definitely be back if we're in Harrogate again

Well? What can I say? If you are having a Chinese meal in Harrogate then this is the place to be. It’s a hidden gem! But!!!! You must book and reserve a table to avoid disappointment. My partner and I eat here very often and always return. The fillet steak cooked in fruity sauce is my favourite Enjoy!!!

Best Chinese takeaway I have ever had! It's not stodgy or gloopy like nearly all Chinese takeaways, and the food is so tasty and wholesome. By far the best Chinese takeaway in Harrogate, I would highly recommend and I will never go to another Chinese takeaway apart from HAKS from now on!

Well, the best thing were the staff, very friendly and attentive. Food: hot and sour soup was below average, sweet corn chicken soup was very good. Sweet and sour pork was excellent. Avoid the Thai curries, the green curry (chicken and vegetable) were terrible. Too sweet, no flavour at all. But then, Thai food in a Chinese restaurant... The prices were on the high side overall. Fired rice and noodles portions were quite small. Crispy won ton parcels were good. Chicken in spicy Szechuan sauce was definitely not up to mark. They really need to make an effort to make better food. Good ambience, though.

Second time here in the restaurant now, and it did not disappoint. We had the crab and the char siu bao to start which were lovely and then duck and green curry for mains, as well as the XO noodles which were SO flavoursome! Service was also fantastic and it made for a fab date night. We also felt very safe here in the COVID situation with staff following all the guidelines excellently. We will be back!

Sadly I had a takeaway from Haks and ended up with food positioning, likely to be from the king prawns or squid. I have no allergies and never had an issue before when ordering food from them. When I called to inform them about this they just said we will speak to the chef and that was it. I am really shocked by their blazé attitude and poor customer service.

This is a TINY little place and you do feel rather packed in. You can see the front part of the kitchen at work, usually very busy with takeouts. We were all disappointed with our starters. My duck spring rolls had no evidence of any duck, such that I asked the waitress if I had vegetable rolls, but the third piece did have a tiny piece of duck, the size of a small piece of minced meat. That said our main courses were all good in particular my sea bass and the fillet steak in black bean were excellent

Had a takeaway from here tonight. Beef was so so tender and the oyster sauce was spot on. Chicken was equally delicious and the sweet n sour sauce was just right. Was also nice to see the owner/manager serving. Very polite gentleman.

We were visiting Harrogate for just a few days end July. Found this restaurant after checking Tripadvisor reviews. It was even better than expected. We had the szechwan prawns with rice and the beef curry. Chinese curry is quite different from Indian types and has its own character and appeal This was the best Chinese curry we'd had to date. The prawns were really good: freshly cooked and delicious. We were not looking for a heavy meal - these two dishes were ideal for our needs. Would definitely return again next time we're in Harrogate.
