Ordered at 6.10pm said 1/2 delivery time. Arrives st 8.20 pm..food COLD, AFTER 1st delivery attempt it went back to shop..Was refused discount on 2nd delivery same food that's why it's cold...I've ordered from here many times...NEVER EVER AGAIN

Lovely atmosphere and great food

Wow, where do I start with this review, Moved to Harrogate and thought I’d try a Chinese on ‘Uber eats’ boy was that a good option Ordered the food and within 10 minutes, the driver rang me and said he on his way and will be 5 minutes very polite, Then went to meet him (delivery man) and nothing but polite, this man is wasted as a delivery driver, Then I opened the salt and pepper chips and they was bad boy, no bad stomach after them either which is a rarity cause I eat too many chilli’s I give this a 9.7/10 portion size could be the slightest bit bigger. China garden you have my heart, and delivery man just know you are my g, thank you again. Keep up the hard work and keep striving and making them salt and pepper biddy bad boys. Until we meet again china garden !!!

Ordered food and it was shocking 2x beef dishes one in peking sauce other in teriyaki sauce. Both basically just batter no beef. Gone down hill used to be nice 😕

Waited over 2 hours for our food. Had to ring twice to chase and was told different reasons for delay. When food finally arrived our order was incomplete and the food we did have tasted nothing like what we ordered! Prawn toast and duck was ok though. Wouldn't order there again.

1 x special fried rice 1 x chicken chow mein (dry) and 1 x big tub of sweet & sour sauce Easily the best decision of 2024 so far 😋 it's lovely and I'm gonna get 2 or 3 meals out of this the portions are MASSIVE!!

Ordered from here lastnight and it took 1 hour 20 to get here, and the place is 3 minutes drive away. Rang them when it got to an hour and she said he’ll be there any minute & I had to wait an extra 15 minutes. Food was okay, the chicken satay doesn’t come how you’d think so I was very shocked. Nothing satay about it, it was more spicy liquid sauce, similar to sweet and sour but spicy - photo is below. I rang to politely complain and the woman was fairly rude when I told her it looks like an incorrect dish that’s been made. Chicken was slimy in the chow mein too. Only thing that was okay was the beef in OK sauce that my partner got. All dishes were packed with veg, a ton of onions & not much actual meat…Anyways, probs won’t come back unfortunately…

Amazing chinese take away we discovered 2 weeks ago, and we’ve been there 4 times already. Great reception, amazing dishes, very fast service, a big menu but ingredients are often similar, just cooked differently and with many different sauces and flavors, therefore the ingredients taste very fresh, and it tastes like the chef knows what he’s doing, simply delicious, and very consistent quality. The prices are amazing which is also the reason why we go back so often. Our favorites so far, these enormous sticky and crunchy Cantonese prawns, the black bean duck, egg fried rice for a delicious side, also the dumplings are fantastic, and we love the little veggie spring rolls. For a family take away I recommend it 200% because it has so many options, prawns, duck, chicken, beef, pork, and many veggie options to choose from. Big 👍👍👍 !! A must try !!

The food itself is nice but be prepared to wait at least 2 hours for it to arrive and be constantly lied to when you chase it! Appalling service, decent food, but fast it ain't!

Dingy premises, not the friendliest service and food very ordinary - Sweet And Sour Pork was largely fat. Won't go again.

We’ve been a few times since the change of management and although some of the dishes tasted different to what we were accustomed to, it was not always worse and it’s nice to see some alternative ways of preparing certain dishes. Still good food, and despite recent price increases it still represents good value at around £7 a head for a decent meal.

This was my go to chinese but now under New ownership quality and value for Money back slidden !!the fried rice is bland and my mixed prawn & Broccoli dish soggy and no where near as nice & Crisp-lacking fullness etc-Friendly people but food gone from champagne to Lemonade-Mate said it too sooo disappointing as was toptastic before🥲

Ordered my meal from here today as the takeaway I normally use is closed and what a disappointment it was, we ended up throwing most of it away, the chips look like they were yesterdays reheated and the chicken chow mien was lacking any flavour and was basically noodles with chicken which looked awful ( grey in colour) will not be returning

Been here tonight with my daughter. We’ve been going for years. Not anymore, absolutely disgusting, warmed up chips, slimy chicken, tasteless. Awful.

Oh no, new owners, or maybe just temporary new owners? Very lovely new owners, but the food isn’t to my tastes; kung po is no longer packed with Umami and tang and flavour, the curry is lacking depth and lift of just the right amount of onions…gutted. This may be more to the taste of others and the new people seem super lovely and efficient, but where is my kung po!? Old owners, if you’ve moved somewhere new, where are you…help!?

Inexpensive decent food. Cash only.

Usually I thoroughly enjoy my meal from the China Garden but last Saturday I was extremely disappointed to discover that my meal - Special Chow Mein - had not only shrunk by 50% but it, like the other meals, had gone up in price by £1. Plus instead of their being a good portion of bean sprouts now there is just a few scattered within the meal Ok I know that food prices are increasing all over but to put the price up and to reduce the portion size by half is totally unfair. I would have accepted one but not both. I pass several Chinese Takeouts to get from my home to the China Garden but in future I will try those closer to home.

Absolutely shocking order for deliver turns up with the wrong order so send it back then phone up to ask where what I ordered originally was to be told I told the driver I didn't order anything

Never again will I order from this place. Ordered beef Black bean and broccoli, well I thought it was broccoli may as well have been pureed absolutely no texture or flavor may have been fresh about two months ago and and reheated tonight same with grilled dumplings could tell they were cooked some time ago and blatantly reheated tonight had to peel the lid off as it had been cooked so many times it stuck to the tub and cut myself on the metal bit trying to open it. Hard pass, never again put it all in the bin!

Ordered off just eat, it was half an hour late, took an hour and forty five minutes in all, arrived cold, ribs tough and inedible, terrible food. Avoid this takeaway!!

Nice food just very disappointed they had to be so rude mistakes happen but with no rice and no chicken with our meal and no offer to bring it to us just the excuse there busy they'll get it to us with our next order I'm really disappointed really poor customer service and as already said woman on the phone very rude the error was yours not ours!!

My dad used to order here when I was a kid. I know order here. Great price and food quality. Recently came I’m just for portion of salt and Pepper chips for my daughter. Massive portion and omg amazing and for the price too

For the price you pay this is beyond low quality this was my first time going and will definitely be my last would not recommend to anyone. For a mixed curry the only meat in the curry was chicken only thing mixed about this curry was the source. £10 for duck that was disgustingly dry and mays well have been scraps. Not happy with the food standard at all!!!

The best quality and value for money takeaway I have ever had, apart from 1. I have had 10-12 orders from this place now, had 2 deliveries the rest collection, when the owner delivered it was delivered extremely quickly. Every order has been ready within 20 minutes (Collection), always piping hot, always consistent in portion size and amount of ingredients used. I haven't had the whole menu, but from what I have tried so far I will always order from here as long as I live within 10 miles. I had never really rated chicken from any chinese takeaway in the past due to the poor quality and soft texture, but China Garden meets the mark. I recommend trying, black bean + garlic + broccoli, red thai curry, pancake rolls (starter), the chicken and pork are our favourite meat. Take cash, no card machine.

The best fried rice and tofu in satay sauce I have ever tasted. The best takeaway in Harrogate by miles. Staff incredibly friendly and they got my order spot on. Very cheap and the portions are massive. I will definitely be returning!

We ordered from here this evening. It arrived in the time they said it would and it was absolutely lovely. Every dish was delicious, perfectly cooked and it was all hot. Best Chinese takeaway we have ever had. We will definitely be ordering again.

Favourite Chinese in Harrogate...consistently good.

We have ordered from China Garden on many occasions, especially this year during lockdown. The food is delicious and they have a great vegan/veggie menu. After a long day today, we decided to place an order at 4:30pm for delivery at 5:45pm (pre-ordered). At 6:15pm when the order hadn't come, we decided to call and see where it was. We ordered through Just Eat but called China Garden as required (as we always have when ordering from here) and we were told that the address wasn't right and the driver tried to call 3 times but the number was also wrong or we didn't have signal or missed the call, so it's not their issue. When we asked where the food was they then said the driver still had it, he was in Starbeck (10 minutes from us) so he could drop it off if we provided the correct details. We told them its all the same details in our Just Eat account as it always has been and that the food is now at least 45 minutes old so will be stone cold. The woman on the phone at China Garden became aggressive and said its our issue, not hers and to call the delivery driver and give proper details. After again trying to explain we ordered using the same account as usual, the same number, same address and having full phone signal but no missed calls and that our food would now be cold, she continued to shout down the phone and say its our fault not China Garden or the delivery driver. We decided to drive to China Garden to complain further but she continued to just shout at us, say there's no refunds, it's our fault and to chat to Just Eat as she doesn't care about it. During all this, she wore no PPE which is unacceptable. We are absolutely in shock that a business would speak to loyal customers (or anyone for that matter) in such a way. We walked out and contacted Just Eat but they also won't refund us as China Garden has marked the order as delivered and complete.... AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Had a meal tonight the food is absolutely delicious I would recommend this.delivery service excellent.

having being as valued member for some years now i have got to say the delivery service and online is apauling every time i order its always late not by 5 mins but an hour or maybe more not good when you have grand children etc a good example i ordered food for 7,30 it came at 9.30 with no apology nothing canceled the order and went to another restaurant sort it out china garden this is not the first time rubbish

Had a takeaway delivered direct to Harrogate Caravan site over the weekend and it was delicious. Ordered the mixed ribs starter to share between two of us - this was absolutely delicious. Hubby had Chicken Chow Mein Chinese style and I had Chicken Fried rice. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and next time we are visiting we won't hesitate to order from here again.

Great food. Recommended are the chips, the Kung Po crispy king prawns and the dry fried chow mein. Also prawn crackers are delicious. We also had fortune cookies, the Ok sauce dishes and chicken in cashew nuts are also lovely, best Chinese takeaway in Harrogate

I ordered pork ribs and it was not actually ribs,there is a bit of a meat but very chewy which of course kids won't eat.the beef chow mein has an off smell,watery and so much veggies instead of noodles,although it was a big portion we did not even eat it even 1/4 of it .so my kids and i ended up having the egg fried rice and a bit of the beef from chow mein.I was disappointed as i was hungry but I had no time to eat out as my kids were tired from a long journey..I wont recommend the place.look somewherelse.

The second time we ordered on the 11.07.19 the food came we opened the bag off onion rings only to find a dirty finger from a rubber Glove inside the bag. All the food went in the bin. When we called to complain all said was you can have another bag onion ring the next time you call. I we to the shop 2 days later to see the manager who talked to in a pair off dirty blue gloves with holes in the end where her finger nails had come through the end. She still wouldn't give a refund DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM HERE

We were amazed at the size of the dishes which are twice the size of other takeaways. The meals contained plenty of decent meat but 3 of the 5 meals we ordered were very similar in flavour and ingredients, even though they were a chow mein, chop suey and chicken and beansprouts dishes.

I order from China Garden all the time as they make a brilliant curry, however this time I feel like the recipe had changed potentially for that curry. It was still lovely but just not what I’m used to, nice curry nevertheless. The vegetable spring rolls were just as amazing as they always are, never got a complaint about those beautiful morsels of vegetable goodness. The prawn toast on the other had, was a bit of a let down, it tasted slightly too greasy and they weren’t packaged particularly well. However, they still tasted pretty good. My food came much earlier than predicted which was 100% a bonus! Overall good food, brilliant portion sizes, good prices, but the prawn toast was fried slightly too long for my liking, but that’s not to say you shouldn’t give it a go! Would highly recommend China Garden to friends, family and fellow just-eaters!

Two dishes were missing from the order - special fried rice and the sweet and sour chicken - sauce was included!! £10.20 worth of food. The total order was £101.60, online order so no issues in confirming what was ordered. I tried to put an order through over a week ago and it was declined by the take away so we will be finding an alternative now!!

Delivery time was great but the food was shocking! Salt and pepper chips had no taste what so ever and crispy chilly beef was soggy! Not impressed at all.

Just finished what was an amazing Meal . We use this takeaway regularly as we we think it’s the best in Harrogate it was still piping hot as we live 14 miles away but tonight’s was the best ever the portions are massive too

3rd time trying our new local Chinese and it has been spot on every time. We have tried a few different things and it was nice and hot, ready on-time and delicious. the portions are huge and the staff are very friendly. Top food and top service.

First time Ive ordered from here, food was below the standard Ive had from other restaurants in Harrogate, salt and pepper prawns were soft, crispy dumplings also soft and ribs had an unusal taste, all in all not worth the calories

Honestly the most disgusting food we have ever eaten. It was so bad that we have just put it all in the bin. I didn't dare eat the pork which was the strangest colour. The trays with two of the dishes in were only about a third full. I have never left a review on anything before but this was so bad that I felt I should. Please think twice before ordering from this place.

Fresh vegetables , piping hot with lots of flavour Top takeaway ! Fantastic takeaway , my wife does really like Chinese but she is raving about this ! So fresh and full of taste . We will certainly be going again!
