Food is ok. The customer service is horrible. The waiters seem disinterested, no smiles no thank you no please. The manager Calvin is even more stone faced. Ruined our dinner with there bad attitude for the 2nd time (I always give one more chance to a place where I had an average experiance the 1st time). No more hakkaland for me.

Quality of food was overall very bad today.. we ordered starters which had a lot of salt, soups were old and even pouring out of bowl. Chicken manchurian was super watery and fully of soya sauce. Restaurant staff made multiple excuses about the change of chef but overall experience was very bad.

I would recommend Hakkaland for Indo Chinese cuisine. The ambience was decent but could be improved. The food was excellent with no complaints, and the service was quick.

This restaurant has a great Indo- chinese fusion. The chicken lollipops were the best starter option, and the Hakka noodles were tasty.

Good option for Indo-Chinese cuisine

This is my second visit albeit with a space of several Years between each. How things have changed and not for the better in my opinion. Place looks tired and dirty, there’s no atmosphere at all. Staff are not uniformed, not knowledgeable about the menu, having confused looks on faces when asking a question. As others have said, this place is not cheap, food is good but not worth the pricing. Menu could be updated as there is no draught beer although listed then happy to charge an extravaganza amount for a small bottle of beer. I doubt I’ll be returning, shame as this could be a place to come to.

Everytime we come here we always enjoy it. Raj is a really good waiter. Great service, we like the okra and the cauliflower a lot, and the saag paneer and everything else.

Very pathetic food, order jain and kept onions and garlic and on calling and complaining them they saying bad and abusive words in hindi language which we dont understand .! But really bad staff , some Gujarati named Raj guy using abusive language . Avoid this restaurant on serious note. These people are not worth . There are many good restaurants

The food at Hakkaland was truly authentic indo-chinese! Highly recommended for delicious north-Indian and Indo Chinese cuisine ! Loved the machow soup, fish koliwada and kolkata chilli chicken! Our server Mr. Suketu was very kind and friendly ! He really took care to ensure our child’s orders very as per our requirements in terms of spice levels! It was a well spent evening with good food!

After hearing alot of this resturant we went for dinner but didnt enjoy the food at all we ordered hot and sour soup but weired taste seems eveuthing is just made with lots and lots of soy sause, chillie chicken was just bearable, chillie chicken sause with rice was not good, egg fried rice were ok. only thing we enjoyed was american chopsey which are crispy noodles and hakka noddles.

Visited on an early Saturday evening. Was very nice, loads of great tasting food. Polished the lot. For beers drink the Chinese beer, tastes amazing. Would 101% visit again.

The food and staff were really good, just hoped the atmosphere would have been a little better. I think i’m being a bit fussy when I say that the cutlery was mismatched. Nonetheless the food was good and will definitely reorder perhaps for a takeaway! I recommend the Schezwan Chicken noodles :) I have docked 2 stars because some of the glasses were a bit dirty and upstairs was a state. The men’s didn’t have a toilet seat and the ladies was filthy :(

After hearing great things for a long time, finally went to this restaurant. Firstly, I was surprised at how quiet the place was for a Friday evening, but the restaurant was clean and ambience was ok. I was then surprised at the menu - its basic Indian restaurant fodder with some Indo-Chinese dishes thrown in at the back of the menu. The chicken & sweetcorn soup was bland, but the Hakka noodles and chilli chicken was tasty. But what left a sour taste in the mouth was the service from an extremely rude and dismissive waiter. Their menu is clearly split into “Starters” and “Mains”. In any restaurant (unless they specifically state that dishes come out as and when they’re ready), you expect to be served your starters, finish it, and then your mains brought out. I went with 2 children, who aren’t the fastest of eaters. We were served our starters, which was hot (soup), and then within minutes, our mains were brought out. When I questioned why that was the case and told them the children hadn’t even eaten their starters because it was still hot, the waiter turned rude and told me I should have told him that I wanted my starters and mains served separately, and that apparently it also depends on how busy the kitchen is! He made no apology, didn’t seem bothered and tried to insinuate that somehow it was my fault for not telling him. And then they have the cheek to add on a discretionary 9% service charge to the bill. All in all, food was ok, but I won’t be in a rush to return (probably never), as I can get indo Chinese food elsewhere and the service was poor. Sad, as I had looked forward to eating at this restaurant for many years and felt let down by the experience of my first ever visit.

Amazing food, good portions and good service.

Was expecting great food from this "restaurant", unfortunately we were thoroughly disappointed 😞. We Orderd 4 starters, one was completely inedible due to the excessive amount of salt in the dish, and the other 3 were way below average and cooked in the same sauce. Beers on the menu were not available, which is is a bummer as it goes hand in hand with spicy Indian food (which non of it was, even though stated). Will not be returning.

We went for dinner and saw the reviews but then decided to give it a try, and truly we were not disappointed. It was truly the taste we wanted to try. The samosa chat is absolutely fantastic, veg Manchurian has some scope to improve, we had hakka noodles as well, and they are how we had in India but they can reduce the oil use. We also had kadhai paneer and tandoori roti and plain naan. It was truly good. We look forward to visiting again.

Indo-chinese is a specialist cuisine and only understood and appreciated by a person who has grown up eating the quintessential family dinner outing Chinese food especially in Kolkata. I think that this restaurant does justice to those typical dishes. We ordered the Kolkata chilli chicken, Kolkata fried rice and veg manchurian and they all were true to their flavours. Please keep the original flavours and recipes of your dishes true to their origins - it is great to see you keeping it alive thousands of miles away from Kolkata and India. Highly recommended for great Indian and Kolkata chinese food.

Food was below average, seems like the same sauce was used for their paneer, Mogo and mushrooms dishes, not impressed or appetising. The crispy cauliflower was very salty and had to be sent back - no I did not want a replacement dish. Their only draft beer was not available.. Indian food with no beer? Comin guys! Currently as it stands I would not return back.

Went here for takeaway Hakka noodles. Whilst we waited the staff were attentive and efficient. The atmosphere was perfect too for large groups as well as smaller ones.

The location of the venue is great. The venue itself is very welcoming just needs some tidying up. I.ethe bar area. I arrived there with my children, I requested a Highchair for my daughter. The chair was filthy.... the hostess came to take our order and we requested some water for the table. The stuff that resembled food arrived. We asked for noodles with chicken no vegetables and mild in heat. It arrived with extra vegetables. Another host got us the correct order. It was tasteless. Sweet and sour chicken... it was foul absolutely disgusting. Manchurian balls with a sauce. How can something be so hot with pepper and have no flavour. I cant even remember if we order anything. I'm glad as it is a night I want to forget. After asking at least 5 times the water came. An Indian male host was useless, he must be family of the owner because I can't see why he is working there. I will NEVER be returning there again.

Food is expensive , portion size is small but all this can be okay if food quality is good . It was total opposite food quality is really really bad .we ordered spring rolls which has super thick outer layer and thus uncooked from inside . Veg Manchurian mains , firstly the look of this dish is horrible and so called vegetable Manchurian balls were mainly batter and hardly any vegetables. Fried rice was so salty and had big crunchy salty stuff. Never again to this place .

So the wife wanted to try somewhere new and we picked here. The food was mediocre at best. The portion sizes were on the smaller side and for almost £10 a dish (which doesn’t come with anything) was a bit much. We ordered chilli and garlic Mogo as starters. For £8 we were expecting more than what we got. For mains we order sweet and sour chicken and Manchurian chicken. When I asked the waitress what it came with, with a blank stare she said “nothing!, you need to order separate sides”. So we did. We ordered some plain rice. Again, all the food portion sizes were on the smaller side but paying a hefty sum. Mrs ordered some dumplings too .. 4 pieces for £7.95! And don’t get me started on the drinks. A can of Coke, can of Lemonade and a pineapple juice came to a bum clenching £9! Would I go back … No .. If they drop the prices and increase the portion sizes, should I go back? …. Maybe .. If reviewers are going to state “you are going there for the experience blah blah blah”, then I would like to remind them that I like having the experience of money in my pocket!!!! £64 for this meal .. never again

Good food and surprised restaurant got full within minutes of their opening time .I lived in harrow for 15 years never have I ever seen this kind of busy place on weekdays .Shout out to chefs and outside staff for their excellent job Starters were amazing .we hardly had mains coz we were full but Hakka noodles had good taste and Manchurian too .

changing an earlier review - Sad to see the demise of this once great place. Seems that success has gone to their head and they have forgotten the customer base which helped the restaurant with the initial success. Staff have become very rude, food not that great anymore. They have become cheeky with "special set menus" on certain days, which they don't tell you about, while taking the reservation on phone (or the two follow up calls to confirm the reservation). RIP Hakkaland

Good food no doubt But place was too crowded for Sunday . Little noisy with 60 people dining in at same time but overall good Mumbai chinese food and excellent service .will surely be back (😉)

We had a party for 40 people at HAKKALAND yesterday and I just want to say the food taste ,quality and service was the best .we had option of 3 starter 3 mains rice ,noodles and desserts with unlimited soft drinks all for £25pp which was excellent deal . Anyone looking for party space or family get together this is a place to be in harrow .

They got my tongue rolling and mouth dripping Heavily packed place so make sure you book it before you enter...best food ever had in and around harrow. Staff recommended the best sellers. Server was spot on . Cocktails were so smooth that we ended up ordering 6 between two of us .

Recently visited this restaurant, as compare to my previous visit the food was not up to the mark which I had enjoyed before. The quantity is incensed in main course food but the quantity of chicken is too low in rice and noodles items which I had ordered thats disappointed my kids . Starters test need improvement. Visited today with my family friends .I visited last 1 years ago but didn’t enjoyed much as food was bland .but today I was invited by our family friends and found out surprisingly food has improved . Saw some new dishes .lollipop with schezwan sauce was excellent .hot garlic beef had good spicy and tangling taste .read some reviews before going and saw they do momo’s so we ordered one to try and we loved it . Every bite was delicious and fresh . Staff very attentive and took care of our needs. Place was very busy as per Thursday but glad we booked . Lot of new introduction to menu which we will try next time .today we were full and had no space to eat more but see you soon again Hakkaland.

Have enjoyed n relished food here before butvthis visit was completely disturbing as the behaviour and the attitude of the so called co owner was very rude and like was forcing herself to communicate, take orders n serve us. We were a group of 10 gave us a separate table, and was taking all the time in the world to clean another empty table.

Great restaurant. Upstairs is a bit more relaxed and quieter and downstairs is much busier even on weekdays... Waiter was very nice. Food and cocktails was great and we would definitely go again

Busiest place in harrow as far as I have seen .glad we had a booking . Food took little time but worth the wait and staff handsomely apologised

We had a booking here at 1.30pm (Saturday) for a reunion of friends coming to Harrow from outside of London. The lady that served us (with plenty of attitude), warned that kitchen was closing, almost as soon as we ordered food. There was no mention of this when the booking was made. We ordered drinks, about 6 starters and a main each. It was beyond belief that the restaurant expected us to consume this under 30 minutes, as the food was ordered within about 15 mins of being seated and ordering drinks. The lady then brought the bill to us with a further warning that restaurant was closing. We were not even halfway through with the food. We were then compelled to pack the food to take away. We refused to pay service charge which was deducted later as if the owner was doing us a favour. After much argument and unpleasant exchanges, 10% was deducted off the bill with great reluctance. The owner kept justifying their closure time saying that it was known to regular customers in the neighbourhood (?) He also said, normally when people start eating at 1, they finish by 1.30 here. We ordered food to a value exceeding £135. The owner's implication was that we gobble up all this food in half an hour (?) We are shocked that people with this attitude are allowed to continue business. These guys have not heard of customer service. They are just greedy for getting as much business as possible. They literally dumped the food and bill on us. Non verbal message was to take it and get lost. Our sincere advice to you is to avoid this nasty restaurant at all costs. Hakkaland is a disgrace to Harrow. We hope Harrow Council takes note.

Liked the taste of the food - but overall the food was way too spicy. Don't want to be harsh hence keeping 4 stars, hoping next time I can adjust the spice level, but if that can't be done then just be mindful the food was really spicy - ordered Chilli Chicken, Chicken Hunan, Szechuan Chicken

I visited this place last week with a few friends, must say they had some really good indo Chinese food. A special mention to the gobi manchurian dry, it was really crispy. Loved the ambience & the service was great too! Looking forward to another visit soon :)

This is not the same hakkaland as before. There is definitely a change in management. The care and attention that used to be the hallmark of Hakkaland are now gone. Our food was real mixed bag. Soup was way too spicy, Paneer 65 was way too salty. Wantons had extra spice which made it worse. The only saving grace was the Virgin Mojito and Hakka Noodles. Thoroughly disappointing.

After 15 years in London found a place which serves authentic Hakka Chinese from Kolkata. Indo Chinese was created in tangra in Kolkata by Hakka people and to know what is the original Indo Chinese and differentiate from others you need to visit Hakkaland in Harrow. Loved it and will be back soon.

My friends and I had a great food & quality service! They were very understanding about a delay in our arrival. Vivian was extremely considerate and attentive throughout the meal. We left feeling full and content, and that our money was well-spent. I was extremely impressed by the fast service, good ambience, and excellent food. If you’re in Harrow and craving good Indian Chinese food, Hakkaland is a must! My friend was eating there for the first time, and said that she was keen to bring her family! Another shout out to Vivian for ensuring our experience was perfect!

One of the most un delicious Pakistani and Indian style Chinese, I have ever tasted. Bad service . Dishes were over expensive with very small portions.

Absolutely love this place (this original post was made in 2018). Bombay chilli paneer, garlic chilli mogo, crispy okra are all fantastic. My favourite dishes are the geera chicken and chicken or tofu in black bean sauce. Updating post in 2020...food continues to be outstanding... Updating again in 2022. Food remains very good quality and incredibly tasty. Shane geera chicken has been removed from menu but still plenty to choose from...

Have been visiting this place for past 3-4 yrs now. Food at this place could be hit or miss. Also it is slightly priced higher as compared to other restaurants in the area. For e.g a tin of coke and Pepsi cost us £7 alone, which is a total rip off. We ordered hot and sour soup (quantity just enough for 1 person) , chicken wantons in schezwan sauce - which was delicious, Hakka noodles - were lil dry , veg Manchurian - was tasty , chilli chicken dry - it was super dry nd chicken was a bit hard to chew , we couldn't eat that dish and just asked to take that dish away. Ambience is good.

Hakkaland is fantastic! If you like genuinely authentic Calcutta / Bombay Chinese, you can’t go wrong. Try the Sang Tung Prawns, Chow Chui Cauliflower, Chicken Lollipops, Sapo Chicken, Sizzling Noodles - all fantastic.

TERRIBLE!!! DON’T BOTHER. We went for a Birthday family dinner at Hakkaland in Harrow on Saturday evening. The starter was served cold on 2 occasions even after sending it back twice. After ordering the mains, they served the noodles which had gone off (noodles were ordered for kids). The excuse which was given that it’s hot weather and the noodles had been prepared in the morning for dinner service. At the end we were given a bill to pay as well since we decided to leave halfway through our birthday dinner due to extremely poor quality of food. This was one of our favourite restaurants, we have had many family, friends and business meals here but this was our last visit to Hakkaland, Harrow. NEVER AGAIN.

It was an amazing experience in Hakkaland. If you are looking for Indo Chinese in London, this is definitely the place to go. We ordered Calcutta fried rice and Calcutta chilli chicken, and prawn momos. It definitely meets and exceeds expectations. Vivan's service was great -he suggested us the correct combination of food and ensured that we had a great experience. Big shout-out to Vivan. I will definitely come here often.

Front of house service appalling! Food totally delicious! And a nice environment. Prices a little high but really worth it for the taste. Lots of oil and msg so not the healthiest but my goodness does it taste divine. Also a nice take on Chinese cuisine with a slant on the more usual dishes you might expect to find!

Been here last month and tried out Chicken Hakka Noodles which were very delicious I absolutely loved it. The place was really great. I was attended by Sam, who was very kind, helped me out with the dishes. 10/10 recommended

Had a craving for Chinese and thought I'd try this place. Bitterly disappointed with the fee mein chicken. It was very greasy and lacked flavour. The chicken was chewed and coated in batter which didn't work. Won't be going here again.

Awful service! The food took forever to arrive and all the staff had to say was: we're really busy tonight. Isn't that what restaurants should be? The starters were fine, but mains were almost inedible. We left everything half eaten and returned some uneaten. Wouldn't go back for sure.
