Gyros Hut- St Mary Street in Cardiff

Got the meal for £9, a chicken gyros, chips and a drink. My boyfriend and I both requested the same meal, but I with a pepsi and him with an appletiser. Upon getting our food we only had one portion of chips and the server told me the appletiser doesn't come with the meal, even though we had ordered it that way. However he did give us a portion of chips to make up for his mistake. Was given siracha instead of sweet and sour sauce, and don't even get me started on the pot size!

Ordered two halloumi gyro meals - it was burnt, and was barely filled. Paid extra £1 for a thimble of sauce - the tub was the same size as a two pound coin. You’re not getting tzatziki btw, it’s just yoghurt

Ripped me of saying I gave them a £10 note when I gave them a £20

Ordered bogof deal via Uber eats, one meal arrived from a very exhausted cyclist in this heat! Obviously hadn't told him it would take him about half hour to get to us on a bike! He asked about trains to get back to the shop 😭 Only 1 meal in the bag instead of 2 - several attempts of calling venue for the man to shout down the phone to me it was my fault!! NEVER AGAIN!

It was a pleasant surprise to find a halal food restaurant in Cardiff city centre. The food quality was excellent with high standard ingredients. It was cooked to a good taste. The portion size is good for one person. The place is very clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. A meal cost £9.50 which is higher than what you would usually expect for this type of food. Otherwise, it is highly recommended.

Ordered this evening via uber. Food was delivered quickly but the wraps and their contents were stone cold inside, the meat was bland and despite getting 2 for 1 it still isn't worth it. Just had to throw it in the bin

Ordered via uber eats - 90 mins later still no food. Called to find out what the issue was, chap that answered the phone was incredibly rude. Wouldn't recommend.

Food was hot and tasty not massive portions but I wasn’t hungry after ordering a box with a pitta bread , don’t let the other comments put you off it’s nice

The food was decent to be honest. I had burger and chips. The pricing is a bit crazy though. The man was really nice. Paid 14 something for 2 burger meals which I thought was a bit much. Their peri peri salt is okay wouldn’t have it again

The gentleman that served me and my partner was lovely. We was confused on what we wanted but he stepped in and explained everything The burger we ordered was really tasty, fresh bread and salad which is good I just didn’t like the peri peri salt as much so next time I would go for plain chips Other than that, I enjoyed the food I would say the price is a bit too much, could of been cheaper

Great place to eat on a familly day out. Great food, clean tables and very nice staff. The only criticism is that portions could be larger.

The taste was not bad but definitely not worth the price. Tiniest boxes ever and they are not even full, better order from other Greek places or from German Donner, at least their boxes aren’t a rip off.

Do yourselves a favour and don’t order from here!! The food I received wasn’t even worthy of feeding my dog, I paid £15.00 for 2 gyros box meals, there was no salad and no sauce, just a box of stale cold chips and disgusting beef doner meat, took one bite and threw it straight in the bin, hideous, tiny portions, awful absolute rip off

I appreciate that is was like 12am but food was freezing cold and the notes weren't followed.

I ordered a gyros and I found it very dry and the chicken didn’t taste as nice. Honestly I had a nicer gyros.

Awful Tasteless meat. Tiny portions, chips were forgotten, meat was covered in oil, no sauce on the meat as advertised. No drinks or chips with meals as advertised. Bread was hard and stale, houllomi was old dry and hard. Do not recommend at all

Tasteless. Asked if the chicken was fresh that day he said yes. Then it was pulled out of a tray, all old lukewarm chicken. Won't go there again

Popped in for a quick bite! Should have popped out straight away! Ordered a classic chicken wrap meal! What a disaster. Chicken so dry and old with no flavours. Chips luke warm and oil drenched. Manager more concerned having a go at poor old new clueless staff than quality control. In addition front desk doubles up as reception for hotel/room rentals above. Lunch and day out ruined by this awful expensive experience. Avoid as better choices close by

The food is so yummy and it is worth to come again and again. When we stayed there we tried twice as we liked how the chicken is cooked there so deliciously. Most importantly it is halal!

I had the shawarma wrap meal. It was tasty with a crunchy salad. Will definitely be back.

Well I'll be honest, I was disappointed going here. I was hoping that after a good night out I could have a proper gyros to end the night but when we got back and looked at our "gyros" it was far from what we expected, it wasn't wrapped like a gyros, and there was no chips or tzatziki in it, it was essentially a kebab. We still ate it and it tasted ok. I wouldn't go here again for a gyros but would for a kebab.

Cheesy chips.... A very small portion of chips and a single square of plastic cheese on top. If you can't make cheesy chips.....

Very good original gyros and very kind staff

Unfortunately there isn’t a zero rating so had to put a star up. The customer service was non existent and I found black curly hair in my grease soaked food and when I confronted the staff about this issue they simply told me it wasn’t there problem it was mine!!! With the worst breath you could imagine ovoid this place at all cost iv never been to such a terrible take away with terrible staff.

Service was fine but I ordered the pita gyros and was charged for the original chicken which was £2 more, not sure what the difference is but felt like I was overcharged. I ordered the cheesy fries and the fries were cold. The actual gyros tasted fine but a bit pricey at £7.25 in my opinion

Awful! Rip off! Ordered and got CHARGED ALOT more, totally taken advantage of. A £15 meal was charged at £19. Food was cold. AVOID!

My order was never delivered. Said it was and no one turned up, was no where. I want my order completely refunded

Delivery guy was great. Food was awful 'beef' gyros was basically a doner kebab with sour cream! 'tatziki' is sour cream and chive VERY far from Greek food. Please stick to the kebabs it was awful

Think I ordered the wrong thing as I wasn’t expecting meet and chips with a side of chips,ordering system needs looking at.

4 stars is because of the chicken gyros which were 10/10 I ate it so fast I forgot to get a picture. The missing star is because we ordered pick up and we’re missing some items. And the “gyro nachos” were a disappointment it was unseasoned chips/crisps and chicken. However the chicken that was on top was so tasty I just ate all the chicken.

Lovely gyros with an awesome Greek sauce. Highly recommend.

The staff was really friendly but the food was disappointing. The wrap was comparatively small and the fillings not properly distributed. The halloumi wasn’t properly cooked and the sauce was not done well. Overall bad, for the price I could get way better in different places.

No food arrived, attempted to call the restaurant however no one answered, when trying to call the driver they put the phone down on me immediately

Stopped in to get one because JonTron did a song about Gyro's and I wanted to send my friends a stupid video for the meme and honestly, the Gyro was absolutely gorgeous! Soft bread, chicken fell apart, flavourful chips and reasonably priced. Got a few Spring Rolls aswel and they were lovely! A little bit of a kick was a pleasant surprise. I've gone a few times, including yesterday to try the Shawarma wrap and it was beautiful! I prefer the Gyro because the bread has so much flavour to it but the Shawarma was very convenient if I'm not sitting somewhere comfortable to eat.

This has been marked as delivered. But I'm.still waiting. Take away have asked for me to ring just eat but I can't.

One of my friend recommended this place and I have to say, it is good. I never had so delicious chicken gyro/kebab in Cardiff. Will visit again when in Cardiff. Highly recommended.

Came here last night to get some food before heading home, wasn’t until after checking my online banking today I realised they over charged me. £24.99 for 2 piece chicken, fries and a drink. Avoid this place and choose somewhere else more trustworthy!

The gyros are absolutely delicious. Most authentic gyros I’ve seen in the UK. Portions are very big and great value for the price!

what a pathetic and a costly place. Food was bland and without any seasoning. Sachet of ketchup thats free in McD is 25p. Seriously. Wrap was horrible, burger had no seasoning. Without any choice, we went to this place and we regret.

The delivery time changed several times and was 30 minutes late from its original set time. Food was not worth the price, I’ve had more and better for the same elsewhere. Drinks were left ontop of the Luke-warm food.

Lugar de comida rápida, que aún teniendo un número de clientes fuera de lo normal (era día de evento en el estadio de al lado) no he tenido que esperar más de la cuenta, hay sitios con menos gente que te hacen esperar más. La limpieza del local ha sido la nota un poco más floja, supongo que debido al inusual tráfico de gente que había. La comida muy sabrosa, buena variedas y mejor precio, una gran experiencia!

Just had a Gyros Shaorma from them and all I can say is that the name has nothing to do with the product. They use kebab spices, kebab meat with only beef a chicken available, instead of pita bread they use a cheap tortilla wrap, the tzatziki feels like plain yogurt and no chips in the wrap. Sorry but NO!

Disgusting food. Ordered beef gyros and feta side. Gyros resembles a very poor overcooked donner kebab thrown on top of chips chewy and cooked to death. Thought feta was a side dip. Tiny plastic container. Hardly anything in it. Very disappointed.

The food was great, however the silvery driver was rude and lied to me about where he was. The can of 7up was pressed up against the chips which made them cold. But al in all happy with the food shame about the drivers that just eat have

My friend just ordered a Greek salad and cost her £4.99 and this is what she got!!!!!!! A half a slice of tomato and lettuce!!!!! Wheres the rest of her salad?????? This is ridiculous!!! Not acceptable at all. She noticed after she come back to the office. We tried calling the takeaway straight away but they dont answer!!!

Don't belive in positive comments. I love gyros and kebabs. That was the worst chicken gyros in my life. Low quality, tastless chicken gyros with some salad, almost no sauce. Waste of money. Propobly unhealthy as well. Was it a greek style !? Joke !

Order was out in with one minute to closing time. Arrived 10mins early which was great. Everything tasted and presented beautifully. Nachos were missing, but hey, things happen. Would order again.
