Cornish Bakehouse in Cardiff

Beware, milk smeared on everything, making a pasty inedible for those of us who ordinarily can. Kids had sosig rolls, pink inside and bland. Not even cheap. Wouldn't eat here with someone else's dietary issues. Cardiff, you need a Wenzels!!!!!!!

Excellent pasties, tried a few flavours - very moreish

£4.50 for a lukewarm pasty that’s dry and has very little filling. Not a fan.

Lovely window display, seating area outside which is nice too. Got drawn in by the lovely looking Biscoff brownies only to discover they taste awful, almost savoury, with undertones of onion! They are dry and chewy and in no way represent a brownie. Credit where it’s due, the savour items seem a lot better although not something I ate on this occasion.

Hmmmmm, they're food is good in general, lovely fresh and well filled pasties, but the cakes are not great. I will give reason where it is due, and the lotus biscoff brownies we had are likely to be the exception to the rule, but this is my experience. Even taking into account a hot day, and being shop window displayed, it doesn't account for topped brownies, tasting like Cornish pasties, and being simultaneously burnt and chewy, which is an achievement, but not a good one. I admit that I have never before tried Cannoli, they were nice, the lemon creme was lovely and flavourful, but the cappuccino was bland and uninspiring. The rhubarb and apple slices were delicious and moist for hot summer window displayed. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful, and do their best with disabled customers in a cramped but manageable customer area.

Called in to purchase ham salad rolls .shocking had to take lettuce out of one all chunks of core .The other one had one slice cucumber.

Staff & food products excellent. No decaf coffee and not very clean outside seating area only drawback. I recommend using for takeaway.

Wonderful place, people were nice and welcoming, as a picky eater it's nice to find somewhere that can cater to that without feeling judged, lovely atmosphere inside, bit chilly when sat outside but thats obviously out of their control, pricing is also amazing compared to alot of breakfast places in the area, so overall a great visit and will be coming back!

The pasties are always cold, they don't keep them warm (only pasty place I know that does this, even Greggs keeps their food warm). Expect a standoff if you request it be warmed up.

We ordered the Cornish pasty, and it was delicious.

Very disappointed when we ordered. We paid £50 for an order. We ordered vegan and meat and nothing was ticked on the bags, so we had to dig through the food to identify it. Pies weren't warm and were dry. Our drinks never arrived and we tried calling multiple times, but the phone was never answered. Extremely poor service for the amount charged for the order. Definitely won't use again.

*5 months ago - I come from Cornwall and I know a Cornish pasty when I see one. Unfortunately, this lot could do better. Pasties I eat from here are always stone cold. For the prices, I would expect more. *Update - Thought I'd give them one last chance. Wish I hadn't. Another stone cold chicken pasty for £4.50. Why can't they keep them warm like they do in Cornwall? Last time for me I think. I'd sooner drive down to Cornwall!

The baked products are decent However, when asking for anything to be made from scratch such as a baguette, panini or breakfast most of the time they will get it wrong Majority of the staff are rude, especially the older lady.

Doughnuts were hard, didn't taste fresh

Very busy place and still well stocked at 17 00 hrs. The pastys are a little generic but reasonably priced and generously filled.

Absolutely awful. The two boys who served me were nice, but the woman was nothing but rude. Waited 25 minutes for them to make my sandwich as they were focusing on doing Uber orders. Had to ask how much longer it was going to be, as I could see it sat on the side.

Ami was extremely friendly and made my panini quick and fresh. Will come back for many more lunches :)

If you live in the area then it's absolutely worth going here.

I am not happy with that old lady service.she piss me off. In morning they have to bake lots of things.but nothing is ready.I ask for few things to eat nothing is available. Never ever go back there again. That old English lady behaves very bad

Staff are rude! Gave me the wrong sandwich then scouted at me saying it was my fault. Never ever again I will go to greggs instead

Love their paninis but while waiting in the queue, one of the girls in the food prep area was prepping food, wearing gloves but casually putting food in her mouth then continued prepping with the same gloves.

I'm giving you a 5 star review only because the person who served me was exceptional at customer service, not the food, which is average. She was friendly and relaxed. From time to time, we get someone who is so good at dealing with customers! Her name was 587 Andrea (CHK1068) and the sale took place Aug 2 at 13:12 in your Cardiff store. She deserves recognition as its not often people are so good at connecting with customers in an effortless manner. Thanks Andrea for making my unplanned trip pleasant - apologies for my wet appearance, Cardiff weather!

Fairly decent pies and service.

Well presented bakery window displays make you feel welcoming and hungry before you enter it ! Affordable & taste coffee, variety of yummy snacks and friendly staff 10/10 One of my favourite so far :)

The iced yum yums and the curry bake was nice but the pripri chicken baguette was horrible. Just advise to anyone who goes there make sure the don’t charge you 4 time like they did with me and still no refund of 31.20 pound. Even though on your bank it’s gone through but on there end it will say decline would not be going back there again that’s for sure

They’ve got a 2 hygiene and it’s hidden when the doors are open, so quite disappointing.

Had the Hawaiian Panini. Pretty bland. I am sure the other things is saw were better but the pic looked good.

Some delicious sweet products, but not too keen on their pasties in comparison to other bakeries.

Very well presented bakery with beautiful window front. We tried a few different pastries and thought they were good. We inquired about dairy free cakes and were told that there was nothing available (I understand if someone isn't sure they'd rather not serve you something that could potentially make you ill, but an allergens list wasn't even checked). Since doing research I have now found that are actually several items available - the jam donut brakes, the chocolate and coconut flapjack and the double chocolate meringue, which I will have to try next time :)

Real nice variety of pasties (95 percent of my family - excluding my siblings - grew up in the coal mining towns along the western edge of the Poconos in Pennsylvania) so I think I know what decent pasties are like. These got you covered. Of course even in PA they advertise that they have Cornish Pasties. Ummmm, I hope I haven't created a political incident.

Early one weekday morning I wandered down for a coffee at Costa across the way to find people queuing out the door. Id never heard of Cornish bakehouse before but it looked much quieter and offered coffee too so I wandered over. The coffee is one of the best on the high street, way nicer than any coffee I’ve had at Costa. All those people queuing spending more money for a lesser coffee at Costa, what a shame. I returned this weekend for another and also picked up a pasty to try and this too was very good indeed. From now on you can keep your Costa & Greggs, this place puts them both to shame!

Terrible experience, very rude elder lady that manages the store. They have recently changed the prices to an extra £0.83 and do not tell you until it’s time to pay (even though they still have to original price if £4.40 on the counters) terrible service.

Ordered pasties, I was given the wrong ones. Otherwise the pasties are nice. I got home, so I couldn't take them back. A bit expensive as well.

While down in cardiff called in the bake house for a pasty in queen street I will not be going in there again tried having a friendly chat with staff there they don't have a sense of humour prices way too high the pasty had too much vegetables not enough meat they all need to learn customer skills and to be more friendlier in future

Just go to Greggs. The lady in there was incredibly hostile to my partner & I. Certain items in our order was wrong, the Meringue had raw egg in the centre & and on top everything was ice cold even though we were in first thing.

Very rude staff I had food posion from that place end up in hospital make me sick.

Lunchtime and the pasties were stone cold. Server was rude also. Pasty tasted fine but it should be warm at least. If you can't get that right what's the point?

Really nice chicken and mushroom bake, would happily purchase from there again. Cannoli’s are a nice little treat for afterwards as well

I was annoyed because my food wasn't very good. I returned to complain, however, the cashier said "next time you cross the road, don't bother looking!". Awful.

Staff are always friendly and pasties are excellent. Freshly made bacon baguettes in the morning are well made and delicious.

The pasties are so good here, really fresh. The sliced pizza is so tasty makes a good alternative to a sandwich at lunchtime

Cooking man was a bit rude to cook more pasties for us to bring back home in Solihull. I wanted to bring minimum 15 big pasties for family but had to take 6 from the cabinets. But ladies were nice and professional. And pasties were fantastic 👏

Absolutely horrendous. Came in and ordered my salted caramel latte and asked for it to be extra hot and to make sure that it wasn’t all foam. They gave me it being about a quarter foam and barely entering the warm temperature. After I took it in and explained the situation, the man making the coffee said he would redo it. The second time was even worse than the first. It was colder and 2 thirds of it was foam. After going in to complain the coffee man threatened to call the police on me for speaking too loud! Anybody who has had their order made incorrectly twice isn’t going to be happy. After asking to speak to a manager the man making the coffee said that he was the manager. I asked for his name, he refused. I asked to see the temperature of the coffee using a thermometer, he refused. He clearly doesn’t care about the establishments customers as I once was a regular customer. Not any more. This is appalling customer service, coming from someone who works with customers on a daily basis. I wasn’t being a karen so why the hostility. To top it all off, after asking for a refund they gave me a partial refund for the coffee and told me not to ever come back. Disappointing, as when they make their coffees correctly they are actually very nice.

Spent £25 here today but there were items missing from my order so check before you leave also brought 4 biscoff brownies and on trying them once home they are stale.

Great selection of hot food, pastries and cakes etc. The paninis were especially good. The prices aren't cheap but they are justified by high quality and fresh food, therefore definitely worth it in my opinion.

Very poor quality food. For the 4th time in a row I've had yesterday's goods. Vegan sausage roll was extremely stale and hard and fell to pieces. A real shame as all the other stores I go to always serve up fresh,warm baked goods. Please up the standards.

The food is out of this world, with such a good price, cannot fault this place. Staff were really nice and speedy with the service, will definitely be coming back here! Bbq pulled pork panini a BIG recommendation
