GWR in Glasgow City

45 miute wait for an omelette & fish and chips, table beside us arrived after us & were served their food before us. We queried this & were told it was a printer problem, then told there was no record of our order. There were pigeon feathers lying around which is unhygienic & we asked for them to be removed. They weren't. Anyway my elderly companion wanted to speak to a manager & a young man in a white shirt appeared. He was defensive & extremely rude and had no idea how to deal with us. Infact he refused to deal with us, flounced & stomped his way off to get the general manager. She appeared with a much better manner but unfortunately too little too late. I told her we were leaving, would not be paying for our drinks & we would not return. Appalling customer service & sadly not the first time. We went to Cafe Source Too instead & thoroughly enjoyed it!

Had started visiting here again since they starting doing week night meal deals and particularly enjoyed the fish night. Today however decided to sit outside for lunch as the weather was good. I had the lunch size portion of fish & chips but it wasn't as good as usual. The batter was lovely but the soggy fish inside was almost non existent whereas before it had been thick & flakey. We then asked for the bill but instead of the waitress bringing a bill she came over and stood at the table with a card machine. She told us they didn't bother with written bills at outside tables!! We insisted on a written bill and on seeing this noted an automatic service charge. We would have left the suggested tip as the service was fine but it is difficult to understand why a printed bill was not given and I can only think that the server did not want us to know about the service charge. I have never come across this practice before.

Lovely spot and very accommodating menu- A definite spot to dine with friends or family and this is from a New York girl so it says a lot:)

A great pub restaurant with really lovely staff. Good food including a grill and a range of draught beers. It's a character building with a good buzz inside and outside seating for the summer.

First time dining in a dome at GWR and it was fabulous! The food and service were just perfect and I loved the ambience- great to be able to play our own playlists. Such a cosy and chique space. Definitely planning a return visit soon. Thank you

Always a lovely atmosphere, cozy vibes. Friendly relaxed staff, providing great service. Good range of choice on the menu. Food is delicious! Good value for money. Been here a few times with friends and they have loved it. Always book a table as it seems busy. Not used the outside domes but would be a great idea for larger parties always seem busy later on at night when leaving. Toilets are a bit shabby and dated in need of a refurb but always clean. Will definitely be back again and again.

Great food and fantastic staff. Made feel extremely welcome and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Food is reasonably priced and the specials are definitely worth a look.

Booked a dome for our early Christmas get together. The staff could not have been nicer, they were so friendly, accommodating and attentive. Laura looked after our table and she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, Constantly checking in to see if we needed anything. We had a mixture of Sunday roasts and light bites and all were absolutely delicious. After our booking in the dome we fancied a few more drinks so the staff happily found us a table big enough. Could not recommend this place highly enough. Thanks guys, we’ll be back!

To be honest I never thought I'd give this place a 5/5 again. It is expensive but they have started doing deals so we went for the Tuesday fish and chip deal which was fantastic. The fish was delicious and the house wine was decent. Lovely welcome and service from a lady who was fairly new to the restaurant. This might become our local once more🙂

So , not really one for righting reviews, but, I’ve just had the best Sunday dinner in years here! Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much! The beef was moist and cooked well. The veg was cooked to perfection, Al dente. The cauliflower cheese was AMAZING! Will definitely return !

The welcome was luke-warm. As was the food. The atmosphere was dull and customer service (eg. 'how is your food?') was non-existent. The only reason we went there was because we were visiting my dad in Gartnavel Hospital and it seemed convenient. I would not recommend.

We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary dinner here with local friends who booked it for us. We ate in one of the "Domes", it was a fantastic experience. The service was fast, the food was amazing, and the music was our own with wifi in the dome :) I highly recommend this restaurant and yes you can eat inside as well. Lots of ambiance too.

Hidden little gem . Visited this place today after passing it last week . Was pleasantly surprised chose the lunch menu . Four of us opted for the fish and chips which was delicious . Staff very nice and the place and location is superb and fantastic prices . I will definitely be visiting this place on a regular basis and would highly recommend. You will not be disappointed give it a try . The only thing I wasn’t sure about was the parking as it’s not very clear if it’s free or if you have to pay at the meter . I paid at the meter for 2 hours which cost 6.80 which I am not complaining about but I feel if I go the next time and parking is free I would like to know for future reference. Well done and keep up the good work .

Booked the Mezzanine for a family reunion lunch. From the very first enquiry made by my cousin to the event today the staff were beyond fab. They did everything they CD do to help and the food was lovely. The Mezzanine was perfect and full of history and the perfect venue for our small gettogether. The views out the old track through the trees were lovely. Highly recommend and massive praise to the staff.

Recently started going back to GWR, as it seemed to be perking up. Twice, now, really enjoyed their CnC: lovely, freshly- made fruit scones; good, hot tea and coffee. Back there, today for lunch. Light, fluffy omelettes, and haddock and tasty, chunky chips. Excellent service, too, from friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely be rturning more often, now.

Having recently moved to within 200m of the GWR we have tried on numerous occasions to find good reason to come here. While the food is adequate, on our latest passing we sat at the bar and had a pint each. At 21:54 we asked when they closed, having not heard last call, and they advised 22:00. We asked if we had time for one more - they said we did, of we drank it within the next 5 minutes???? All this on a Saturday night? A group of 8 women then came in and sat themselves at a table. During this interaction (and the following 5 minutes beyond 10pm where no-one approached us to offer us our bill or request payment) noone approached them to either offer service or advise they were about to close. In summary, the staff are uninterested in their clientele and the owners need to reconsider their opening hours to better reflect their customers.
