Gusto Italian in Liverpool

Lousy caesar salad at an overpriced price. Recommends that the chef googles the recipe. Large lettuce leaves. 4 croutons. Traces of herring?? A few pieces of chicken that had to be ordered extra... say no mote :(

A very cold pizza and some arguments about birthday discounts makes it a 2 star experience.

Myself and my brother booked a table on Sunday for a catch up over what was meant to be a lovely roast dinner. We were seated when we arrived and shortly after ordered drinks and food. We both went for the meatballs starter which tasted great. Both of us had the beef roast, this is where the downfall came, the menu states that the beef is ‘served pink’ which i can say was absolutely not the case, the beef was well done and really tough. Our ‘roast’ potatoes were anything but roasted, hard and no flavour, the rest of the veg was just okay. The Yorkshire puddings although they look impressive, they were over cooked, hard and tasted burnt. My brother ate his food purely on the basis that he was hungry, i did leave almost all of my roast dinner, we also ordered the extra trimmings to share, unfortunately we didn’t touch them as they were the same undercooked, hard and tasteless vegetables and Yorkshire puddings as were on our main roast dinners. We did order a dessert each sticky toffee pudding which was really nice but could have been warmer and a crème brûlée which was also really nice. All in all starters were nice and the dessert was nice it was the main course that led to the downfall of our visit to gusto on this occasion. The service was a little slow although it was busy so I can forgive that a little bit. I wouldn’t rush back to gusto for a Sunday roast any time soon.

Last minute reservation and the staff were amazing food lovely and cocktails even more amazing !

This is the second time we have been served by Besim and again he is the best. He deserves a raise, best bottomless brunch in the city

Even though I reserved a table ahead of our arrival, we had to wait by the bar for at least 20 minutes. The food and atmosphere was fine.

Lovely meal. Staff very courteous and attentive. Danny was a wonderful host.

We come to gusto for all of our special occasions, birthdays & anniversaries and we always thoroughly enjoy. Usually we get the dough petals, a burger and lasagne for the mains, occasionally a desert. This particular time was my birthday and after chatting with our very lovely waitress, at the end of the meal I was surprised with a small brownie but it was so thoughtful! We always thoroughly enjoy the food and actually often find ourselves looking forward to the next occasion so we can come back! I did notice this time that the lasagne had changed but it was a very welcome change and it was delicious! Definitely our fave place to eat out and I find the price to be very reasonable for the quality of the food, whenever we take family/friends they always enjoy too! My first time here was around 10 years ago and I don’t think I’ve ever left unhappy. Service is always so good, would recommend asking to not be sat by the kitchen area as it can get very noisy.

We were treated like royalty from the moment we stepped through the door. Exceptional service from Cameron who advised us on all the food, and then unbelievable amazing service from Besim, who was so so fabulous with my grandson. He brought him a special cocktail and biscuits and took him to get ice cream. He gave him a chef's hat. Lenny had such a perfect time and gave Besim a big hug when we left. Nothing was too much trouble. We will most definitely be back. Service like that is a rarity, and the food was delicious too! THANK YOU

I wonder how would it be a Saturday night. It was a winter Monday night and the service was overwhelmed. Not great I must say.

Love this place, staff are top class and so attentive, the food is always great, one of my favourite places to go and will co to use to do so as long as it stays on form!

The place and location was very nice, but there were 9 of us and think 7 had steaks and none was cooked to our liking, even took 1 back and it still wasn’t right, like it was cooked by amateur chefs,went to get someone to sort it and when no one came we went to them to take it away so that part of service was poor. Overall lovely place but poor food

Gusto was amazing we love this restaurant. Starter was lovely and plates were cleared straight away. We had a little break between courses which was great. Mains were delicious and really good portions. Remi our waiter was just perfect! Made us feel like VIPs and made my mums day with the special pudding for her birthday. His customer service was excellent and couldn’t do enough for us! 5* Remi

Went for our 2 year anniversary, lovely experience. Our waitress Guiuana provided fast and professional service whilst multitasking with a trainee, friendly and efficient. Overall a great time.

Had a meal last night food was only warm so disappointing as the atmosphere was great. Possibly need more waiting on staff. They did reduce our bil to be fair and couldn't apologize enough.

We went as a group of 5 for a birthday treat for two of our friends and can’t recommend it enough! The cocktails were incredible and food was delicious! We want to say a special thank you to Giuliana who was so welcoming and even organised a birthday dessert for the girls celebrating! It was such a lovely end to a gorgeous meal out, thank you!

Beautiful interior. Food ok. Too expensive. The day before I had a delicious dinner in another restaurant in the same part of the city for half the money.

Besim was absolutely incredible, in fact all the staff were. They gave my wife a recommendation of basalt vinegar with her bruschetta and she loved it. They also weren’t overbearing like many other restaurants and allowed us plenty of time to get comfortable, read the menus and enjoy our meal. 10/10 staff and we thank Besim for his outstanding service.

Amazing food! Our server Remi was so friendly and attentive. The Biscoff Martini was amazing and my girlfriend was made up that they do Menabrea Zero! Can’t wait to come back.

Service could have been better, it felt like they had forgotten about our order as it did take quite some time, but the waitress was very friendly

Unfortunately it was a bad experience many dishes were warm or cold sent 3 back risotto only warm in the centre dessert had plastic inside conclusion staff need to know how to serve customer in the art of catering not to just hand it to you, down to the matre de he should take pride in making sure that the staff are trained to a hire standard

Tried to walk in on Saturday and was advised it was a 40 minute wait. I had looked on the website about 10 minutes beforehand and could see that there was availability for tables for 2 every 15 mins for the next 1.5 hours and, upon arrival, could visibly see empty tables. I brought up the booking page on my phone and told the hostess that it was showing I could book a table in 8 minutes time - she then advised me that, while I could book a table for 8 minutes time, we wouldn’t be seated for 40 minutes. Bizarre way to run a business - was in absolute disbelief that I could book a table, arrive for the time and then not be sat within a reasonable timeframe. Did not wait for 2 reasons - 1) the timeframe and 2) the attitude of the rude hostess. Very disappointed as I am a repeat diner at this restaurant but this has left a sour taste in my mouth.

This restaurant did not live up to expectations. After booking a table, we waited 30 minutes before our order was even taken. It took over an hour between the starter and the main course, and by that time, I didn't even want the main dish anymore. It felt as though our table had been completely overlooked. Although the starters were enjoyable, the main course was disappointing and tasted terrible. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Discretionary service charge with no way to opt-out without making a fuss is disgusting. ****Edited after the owner replied***** The lighting in the restaurant is terrible and very dimly lit. I didn’t see it written anywhere on the menu and although i will not dispute it being there I never saw it and struggled to read the menu at best as it is. It may have been written on the menu but would a customer receive the same service upon request if one said ‘I’m not paying a service charge, please can you take my order.’ - i doubt it. Also, unpon receipt of the bill; a customer saying ‘I’m not paying a service charge’ in full view of other customers and having to then have a brand new bill generated without the expected service charge is embarrassing. I believe you (Gusto) prey on that and take advantage of the customer. The staff get paid a minimum wage and a tip should not be expected or tricked out of any customer. Without the customers there is no Gusto. That is disgusting. The food was lovely and worth the money. The service was not worth 12.5% of the bill. Gusto could, alternatively, pay their staff 12.5% extra instead but they don’t/wont; therefore the customers should get a clear op-in / opt-out service charge not tricked out of it. We’ve been here quite a few times and have never noticed this charge before although I’ve probably paid it unwillingly - another thing Gusto prey upon. As i said above, without returning customers there would be no Gusto. I won’t be returning if that’s your attitude. Shame on you. Kind regards

Food was poor, none of us liked it, especially the carbonara that was drowned in cheese sauce, and made us feel sick. The pasta was also hard.

We came here today to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We weren’t welcome really well. The lady at the entrance gave us 1.5 hour for our meal and said that “she needs that table back at 7:15”. I found this really rude, especially that there was many empty tables at the moment. Thank god, Mike took us under his caring and professional wings. He had amazing knowledge about every dish and drink we were interested in. He was polite, kind and understanding. He saved the day and we were extremely happy about service provided. thanks Mike!

Myself and daughter had been to Liverpool for the day and we love Gusto food so went for a drink and then asked for a table as there were plenty available with it only being 4pm we were told to go the the guy at the far desk in the suit who was on the phone, he completely ignored us then rudely told us to wait by the door around the corner where there was now a queue which we couldn’t at first see, we waited 10 mins in the queue then he told us there were no tables I asked him why did he make us wait in the queue if there was nothing available he wouldn’t even give me eye contact and completely ignored me to seat others. We left the restaurant and as I saw there were lots of tables free I googled and booked myself a table online then went back in to eat. Absolutely disgusting service who ever the reservations man in the suit with the swollen eye is he needs his p45 immediate he definitely should not be in customer service.

Good food excellent service no complaints

Our meals were very good, freshly cooked and as described on the menu. The restaurant was full, very busy, a little bit hectic for me but clearly everyone was having a good time.

seats and lighting are very cozy. just beside the quay. servers is very polite and efficient. asking for tap water is no problem at all . even put some ice in every glasses , we have 5 people. i believe both pizza + pasta are very authentic in taste & appearance. However, i reckon mascarpone cheese in tiramisu is just a bit less, so the taste of if seems not rich enough.

We had a fabulous lunch yesterday. The waitress was great, really friendly, sorry I didn't get her name. The food was delicious, the best I have tasted for ages. Would definitely recommend.

Both times I have visited Liverpool I have eaten here and was not disappointed in either experience. Their food and service is over the top good. The next time I come here from the US I will once again be having dinner here.

Me and wife and my wife went, for our date night, and from start to finish, the experience was great! From the food to the service. The staff are really friendly and good the next mile. Mike, our server was great too, always checking that we were happy with our food and drink.

Besim gave us the most amazing experience. He made sure that we never had empty glasses and was so attentive. This is my first time having a bottomless at gustos and i would 100% come back again. I came for my birthday and i had the best time!

So many highlights from our visit to GUSTO Albert Dock today! Went for an early dinner with family. Greeted immediately with genuine warmth, friendliness and professionalism by the lovely lady at front of house (had I caught her name I’d give a shout out). Our excellent server was Besim, a joy throughout, he really made us feel pampered and relaxed. You know when you get those servers who just ooze effortless professionalism and charisma and make you feel as though you are their personal guests? That was Besim! He genuinely wanted to ensure we enjoyed our food and experience and thanks to him, we did. The ambiance was wonderfully relaxed and the food was excellent, in particular the vegan Rigatoni Arrabiata. Besim offered me some vegan cheese instead of parmigiana… oh my gosh, my meal was elevated to perfection. The vegan Biscoff Cheesecake was TO DIE FOR! Besim informed us of its popularity, even among non-vegans, I could see why. Decadent and creamy with the perfect balance of flavour and richness without being heavy or overly sweet. Besim was great with our young teen and his requests, which was much appreciated. Definitely the best service we’ve had in a long time which really made it such a fantastic experience… we shall be back to try the vegan steak soon. To conclude: Excellent quality food in relaxed dockside surroundings and service with lots of smiles. Besim… bless him! GUSTO Liverpool, you have a keeper.
