Gusto Italian in Liverpool

Food very good, service OK, had to wait a little bit of time before coming to take drinks order. One guest told server she was alergic to aubergine, we ordered mixed starter and was not informed it had aubergine on plate. Also a service charge had been added to bill and we were not informed about this and left another 10%, think they rely on people having 1 too much to drink, should be told service is included

Always have a lovely time at Gusto. Service by Bisam was amazing as usual. Food beautiful. Will be back again soon

The food was great. The stars of the show were the lasagne and the sticky toffee pudding, which were both amazing. A really lovely restaurant with great staff.

Arrived into Liverpool and happened about this great spot! Great food, ambiance and service. Our server Ben was just amazing and the vegan steak was the best we ever had.

Portions too small, not worth the price. Left hungry

Food and Service were very good at this restaurant however I was disappointed when my bill arrived and had a 12.5% gratuity already built into the Bill Something people should be aware of of I feel and in my mind, not the correct way of doing things

Absolutely loved it! Staff were so accommodating. Amazing attention to allergens/ gluten free. Can’t wait to go back.

The food was fine and the cocktails were great, however I had left a birthday request for candles on a dessert for my bf. When we got shown the dessert menu I realised they had forgotten or not noticed my request. I then got up and spoke to 2 members of staff and told them we were about to order one dessert and could they bring it out with candles etc. they assured me that it’s fine and they can do that. We then ordered and the dessert arrived but it had no candles and was just handed to us. We had ordered crème brûlée and the sugar was just poured on the top and not toasted at all, so it was just pure grits on the top. After we just had to leave as I was waiting too long for some sort of birthday thing to happen. :(( I think I’ll only go back for drinks and not food if I were to return.

Nice place to eat. Bit overpriced.good atmosphere. 10% tip added onto bill which I paid but don't agree with as this time the tip was over £25.

Visited today for my friends birthday. We had the two course Sunday roast. Alfie our server was amazing from start to finish.Attention to detail was second to none.Food was excellent and it made my friends birthday.

Pleasant and efficient staff. 8 friends got together for a meal. Poor choice of courses. Starters were disappointing. Small portions of prawns and scallops. Main courses were below standard. Lasagna was overcooked, carbonara was stodgy and bland, aribiata was too spicy. Very pricey for what we got. Overall a very disappointing experience. Won't be back.

Pretty good place to visit, felt the food was expensive for portion sizes however the quality of the food itself was high. Had some issues with a friends dessert not being adjusted properly which needed resolving due to poor communication, however can commend them for being extremely thorough for a shellfish allergy when we reported it. Overall a nice quality restaurant with good food if on the pricey side.

Hey what a lovli place!!! The food was fab ! The service was fab although I can’t tell you the name of out server ??? And she’s very own faced ??? But Sabrina , introduced herself when I asked for service, wow she smiled and her personality shone through .. Sabrina kept the drinks flowing and was so obliging ( which is such a rare thing nowadays ) . Thx Sabrina xxx Errmmmm who was our waitress ??? Her name wasn’t Sabrina xxxxx

Can’t fault it - had an amazing time and everything from the food to the service was fantastic. Both my partner and I are vegetarian and it was one of the best meals we’ve had out in a long time.

Although we were late being seated (was told we would get a phone call when it was ready; table was actually ready 10 mins prior), the service we received by 'Besim' was amazing. We have been served by him almost every time we have came to gusto and each time it is exceptional. Really gutted there was no chateaubriand but luckily they had tiramisu to make up for it! Thankyou Besim for being a brilliant host!

We visited Gusto Liverpool on a Thursday evening not expecting it to be very busy, how wrong we were. It was heaving, we were seated immediately and waited a little longer than i would have liked to order drinks as staff were busy setting tables rather than serving but thats just them doing their job and me being picky. Food was excellent as always, we had an option for a free meal using my loyalty card or 33% off food so chose the latter which also gave us an excuse to return.

Had a lovely meal in Gusto last Sunday night. Exceptionally friendly and courteous staff. Food was excellent and service was very efficient. Will be back the next time we are in Liverpool. Great place for a lovely night out.

Brilliant meal at Gusto! As soon as we smelt the garlic smell from the dock we knew we were drawn in.. We came with family whilst in the area and ordered the bucatini ragu, bucatini carbonara and the Rigatoni Arrabbiata.. all the dishes were top notch and full of flavour.. ignore the people that say the food is to garlicky.. we love garlic and this wasn’t an issue for us at all! Our server George was attentive and polite and gave us honest advice on what to eat and we were privileged to have him, hopefully his manager sees this and gives him a pat on the back. If you’re in the area I highly recommend Gusto! You won’t regret it!

Our waitress Giuliana was really nice talking to us in Spanish as soon as she realised we were spanish.The food is really good and the service too.

Absolutely lovely experience and the staff that served us were excellent. Got engaged on the same day and they helped us celebrate in style. Thank you and we will be back, food was outstanding.

We were on our first date for a meal. We were not disappointed the food was fabulous and Danny our server was too.

Visit here today wasn’t impressed at all soft drinks had around 7 ice cubes in them steak was poor quality fillet lasagna was made with brasing steak instead of mince it was poor wouldn’t the dessert was the only good thing & for the price wouldn’t recommend

Wish it was possible to give it no stars . My friend booked a table here last week for us as we hadn't seen each other for a while, whilst the majority of the experience was lovely. I did think the price was a little bit high. Our server was lovely, I can't however remember his name. Quite tall? The biggest let down was the way the female manager could be heard speaking to team members, just incredibly rude and made us quite uncomfortable! I couldn't tell you her name either but she has dark hair! I felt sorry for the staff around her and because of this we won't be coming back

Love this restaurant, I’ve been here many times and the service has always been great. The food is so good, it is a little bit overpriced but it is worth it.

The food was amazing and the staff were so helpful, it was my girlfriend’s birthday and made her a nice dessert to celebrate. We will definitely go again

Great food 👌 My dish was excellent. In fact, it was my favourite meal from my 3 day stay in Liverpool. Quite a noisey atmosphere due to the number of people dining, so this is something to keep in mind when booking. (I'm not one to give negative reviews, but in this case, I think honesty and transparency is required) The evening was tainted by the service charge! We had a great member of staff look after us who was polite and smiley, who would have certainly been tipped personally, but on receiving the bill, there was an additional charge added!? This was asked to be removed as the menu was all priced and if the evening had been excellent and the staff had done their jobs well we would certainly consider rounding up the bill, but to be expected to just pay extra?! Unfortunately, this soured the evening and changed the attitude of the polite smiley member of staff too. Great food, great staff - Sorry but bad service charge idea

Hello peeps. If you are a vegetarian going here just be very very careful because we had very bad experience, we got wrong dish which had meat in it which we had without knowing which was served by the manager itself. The service is as well as poor. Left the restaurant with a bad experience👎. Very disappointed with Gusto Liverpool.

If it would be possible I would give 10 stars. This restaurant is probably the best I have been in my life and I have been in quite few of them. Atmosphere super. Service amazing and food absolutely flawless every single bit of it for all 7 members of our family and it was probably first time ever that our 5 kids ate everything on their plates ! I wish I lived in Liverpool and would be able to go back to the restaurant regularly.

Um the restaurant isn't terrible it was alright the pizza was ok I guess and the atmosphere was brilliant and the service was good I would recommend the people that like Italian food to go there and I think the money was pricey. I think it was worth it though.

Really disappointed with our experience at Gusto, go regularly to the one at knutsford which is generally always nice. General attitude of the staff was pretty arrogant and poor from the start. Told to go here and go there to ask about a table, that was clearly free already rather than service staff checking for themselves if it was, ended up back at the table but with an instruction we needed to have two course as it was outside and they where busy. Had the Pasta with Crab for main course and when it arrived it was cold, I think it had sat waiting for my partners mushroom pasta which was hot. Should have sent it straight back but wanted to eat with my partner as it was her birthday and didn’t want to create a fuss. When asked I told the waiter, he apologies and just said he would let the chef know but made no consideration to compensate, even added a service charge to the bill. Ate the Pasta pretty quick but was stone cold by the time I had finished and didn’t taste much of the crab as also pretty scarce in the dish!

Me and my boyfriend came here tonight and we really enjoyed it. Lovely, clean restaurant with very kind staff. The food was 10/10. We will definitely be returning.

Booked half an hour before we wanted to eat. Food was lovely, our server was polite and friendly and the restaurant was buzzing. We asked to move tables because it was a very hot night and we wanted to be closer to an open door, we were accommodated quickly.

We have been coming to gusto’s for years now and we are never disappointed each time we visit. The food is AMAZING, the atmosphere is great , the staff are friendly and helpful ( specifically Giuliana ) who has served us for the last however many visits here at gusto. In our experience, Giuliana, has always given us a warm welcome and goes above and beyond for me and my family. Giuliana is the best of the best! She deserves some recognition for her efforts and performance at the restaurant. I cannot recommend this place enough 😁

I came here for my 20th birthday and was served by the wonderful Hayley. She was quick and efficient as well as polite and helpful when I enquired about the drinks menu.Food came quickly and the carbonara was to die for.Again Hayley always made sure we had a drink at the table and when we ordered martinis they came incredibly quickly. It’s amazing value for money and a lovely atmosphere.I will definitely be recommending this place to family and friends :)

We heard about Gusto’s from a local resident who recommended we eat there. It was a good tip as both my wife and I went through the comprehensive menu plus had wine & beer all of which was delicious. We expected a much more costly bill, however the cost was very reasonable indeed. Can pass on this review with confidence that you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing pizza experience afternoon in Gusto with Alfie who is AMAZING!! Alfie looked after us so well providing great insight into the food and making it so fun. The whole experience is such good value for money as this included a welcome cocktail, starters, create your own pizza and dessert. So fun with a group of friends / family - cannot recommend enough!

Went for my birthday, such a great atmosphere and we were treated so well even though it was peak time and super busy! The staff quietly put together a birthday cake and I was even treated to a free old fashioned. I can’t remember the staff members name but he was great! (Photo attached)

So surprised to have such a well cooked and presented meal in a chain restaurant. Sat in the sun outside and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were so attentive to my husband and I.

Our waiter Bizarre Besim was very attentive and was chatty with us making us feel very welcome. He was as quick with our bottomless brunch drinks and overall made our experience pleasant!

this was our first bottomless brunch and it was absolutely amazing, the staff are phenomenal and so so kind!

The tables are extremely sticky, especially in the bar, and despite being 70% empty, they can’t seat 1 person until 4 hours later!? Get a grip.

We went to dinner, it was quite full but they found a table for us. Very attentive service. Nice food; for those who don't like pepper and oregano, it really restricts the options. Photo of the menu from May 2024.

Disappointing lasagne - lukewarm - underwhelmed. Noisy.

Dropped in just for a pint. Unfortunately they only had two beers on draft but it's primarily a restaurant so targeting diners rather than drinkers. Saying that I noticed that they do have a huge selection of wines. They must be doing something right though as the place was full and they were very busy on a weekday. There's a very nice view through the windows into the Albert dock and you can't beat a nice meal in a nice place with a nice view. Didn't try the food so will have to come back and try it out.

Food was spot on, waitress was fab (Ashton) couldn’t do enough for us all, made our night, even amended my food for me as I’m fussy, can’t thank her enough

**UPDATE** We did return and our experience was much improved. I opted for a different meal - mushroom tagliatelle which was very nice. Husband had the lasagne again and enjoyed it. Thank you Gusto have now contacted me and very kindly invited myself and my husband to return for a meal. I will update when we do. I have hesitated to leave an unfavourable review but very disappointed with our dining experience last night. We have eaten at Gusto many times and never had any complaints. The restaurant is lovely and was very busy as usual but the food was very disappointing. My husband had the calamari which was mainly batter. For the mains we had three meat lasagne and lemon and thyme chicken. The lasagna was a very small portion mostly bulked out with tomato sauce. The chicken did not look very appetising to me. I did try it but it just wasn’t nice, there were only two gnocchi pieces underneath and they were cold. You may ask why we didn’t complain last night? It’s one of those situations where you feel bad because you know how hard people work in hospitality (our daughter is a part time waitress so we know!). Also - I just wanted to come home, I booked the meal for my husband’s birthday (tomorrow) and I felt bad. My husband felt bad that I hadn’t eaten anything other than garlic bread and a few potatoes. We paid our bill and left. Also - if you complain what happens then? You wait for another meal that could be equally disappointing? Or you get some money off the bill? It wouldn’t have made up for an unpleasant experience. Sorry Gusto - it’s a shame as the location is so lovely and there is always a buzzing atmosphere, just needed the food to match. ** UPDATE ** After answering my review requesting an email with more details and then asking for my number so it could be discussed further, I have heard nothing else. Empty platitudes unfortunately.
