First time having a meal here and it was absolutely amazing. I wish I got the server/waiters name as he was great (tall man with tattoos) and if he isn't head waiter then he definitely needs a pay rise. I've told family and friends about this restaurant and will definitely be dinning here again.

Very good service first of all. The food was okay, portion sizes are very small unfortunately and a bit overpriced.

Honestly the best meal we’ve had since arriving in the UK! High quality food- tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced. Giuliana was our server and she was so wonderful and attentive to our family, as was the whole staff. Food was great, drinks were generous and well made and they had a great wine selection. Gusto pleasantly surprised us- we stayed and enjoyed our dinner for over 3 hours!

Had a fabulous meal in Liverpool on 24th May. Food was delicious, and our waitress was fabulous - attentive but not annoyingly so.

Loud environment. It was only a wednesday evening 6:30pm yet it was over crowded and we ended up shouting at one another to be heard. Tables far too close together. Bits of pasta on the floor when seated, so hadn't been cleaned properly beforehand. Food was average, but WAY too overpriced for the portion sizes, especially the main courses. A miniscule piece of dry chicken, three pieces of gnocchi, a splodge of puree, and two strips of roasted red pepper for £23!!!!!?! Waiter who took the order was disinterested and scruffy looking. Couldn't care less and I now know why, service charge is automatically added to the bill. So obviously didn't have to try since an extortionate amount is added to your final bill. This I did not realise til having already paid. My mistake, as I would of asked for it to be removed. Tipping is becoming an absolute joke these days. Expected yet sometimes not earned. Also told after just ordering coffee that the table was required and we had ten minutes to vacate. Not even mentioned when being seated at the beginning. Avoid. Not worth the expense.

This was the best Italian food I've ever eaten hot and full of flavour. Staff knowledgeable and very friendly even though it was very busy nothing was too much for them. This was are first time but we will definitely be coming next time we are in the area xx

Beautiful food. Staff very friendly. It was very loud in the restaurant, so wouldn’t recommend for a first date. The additional 12.5% service charge automatically added onto your bill is a bit a cheek and was a bit of a shock when we got the bill

Ben helped us on Sunday when we were in. He was incredibly helpful and personable. And the food was delicious. I had the bucatini pasta that was one of the best pastas I have had in a while.

I was really looking forward to dining at Gusto Italian in Liverpool — I even traveled from Dublin and chose this place based on great recommendations. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. I arrived without a reservation, but the hostess didn’t even try to accommodate us. She looked us up and down and bluntly said there were no tables available, without checking or offering any alternatives. I even suggested sitting outside, and she replied that if I wanted to, I could go check for myself — which I did, and there were some empty tables. I felt completely disrespected and unwelcome. It’s a real shame, because I was genuinely excited to try this restaurant. First impressions matter, and sadly, mine was ruined by the poor service at the door.

Our server was an absolutely lovely local lady who was the perfect waiting on member of a brilliant team.We could not complain about anything at all.Everything from the welcome to the service to the quality value for money and for the thoughtful gathering of all the staff to sing happy birthday to my son..it was one of the best meal experiences I have ever had at Gusto .Well done to all the team.You are all 5 stars

Came here on a busy Saturday evening, booking essential. Had the garlic bread starter which was nice, lasagna was a side bowl of chips was excellent. Tried to charge me 10.02 for service charge for 2 meals?! That's abit steep, so they did remove this. Recommended coming here if in the area

Food came out warm to cold, not enough on the plate. It was flavoursome but morish because the portions were too small. Owner reached out which was thoughtful so updated the review, will definitely go back again

Absolutely loved our meal here. We had not booked prior, and the lovely receptionist booked us in an hour from then so we took a little walk around and visited a shop or two. When we came back we waited about 5/10 minutes in the bar before being seated. Wait time was average and we loved absolutely everything we ate, our favourites being the meatballs and the warm Brownie. Our waitress checked in regularly too and was generally very lovely. Would definitely recommend.

If you're looking for a place in Liverpool where you can enjoy truly delicious Italian food, Gusto Italian is absolutely worth a visit! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and the service was fantastic — the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and everything was handled with great speed and care. We didn’t have to wait long for our food at all, which made the experience even better. I ordered my classic Carbonara, and it was simply perfect — rich, creamy, and full of flavor. My partner had the Risotto, which was just as amazing — beautifully cooked and packed with taste. Both dishes were honestly some of the best we’ve had in a long time. Overall, Gusto Italian combines excellent food, a lovely atmosphere, and wonderful service. It’s definitely a place we’ll be coming back to!

The service in this restaurant by the waiters was good and deserved the service charge,food was also very nice and the restaurant is in a loverly spot within the dock, food portions was a little small but the quality definitely made up for it.

Great meal served by Julie after my nephew competed at British Gymnastics and became the U18 All Round Champion. Julie was a joy and genuinely interested in his success.

Food was VERY poor and this dampened the experience significantly! My Ragu dish had no meat at all in it. I did feed this back on the website and they didn’t fill me with any confidence it wouldn’t happen again. A real shame as Gustos use to be very good but the customer service is lacking as well as the food now.

Correct quality, but expensive for the dishes they are and they also charge you extra for the service, so the final price is surprising.

We had our wedding in the Captain's Room on Monday, and it was absolutely amazing! There was a slight mix-up with the menu, but it was resolved quickly, and they removed any incorrect items without a hitch. Our server was incredible—she couldn’t have been more helpful! Everyone raved about the food; it was unreal! We will definitely be back for more delicious meals. Thank you for making our day so special! Xxx

Food is very good and very fast despite the crowds. Service and friendliness is top notch, you feel very welcome. Atmosphere is great, sometimes a bit noisy but yes. All in all highly recommended

Overall experience was good. Drinks were nice and the staff were very attentive. I had the arancini to start which was very tasty. I then had the honey, lemon and thyme chicken for my main and it was unfortunately disappointing. It was meant to be served with gnocchi, which was the main reason I ordered it, and it came with only 3 pieces of gnocchi. Very stingy, especially since the picture showed more. It was okay, but I wish I had ordered something else. Mum had the Bruschetta and the Pasta Arrabiata which were both lovely. Overall a good experience, and I would return. I would just order something different.

The Albert Dock location of Gusto Liverpool was perfect for us. All the staff work as a team creating a brilliant atmosphere and the food was excellent - so much so that we had dinner there on 2 evenings during our 3 night stay.

please do NOT go here for a sunday roast, i’m sure the italian food is great but the sunday roast was awful. the potatoes were bland and soft, the chicken was also bland, the yorkshire pudding was abnormally crispy and reminded me of a prawn cracker, the red cabbage was overly sweet and sickly and the carrots were poor. for the price it was so not worth it. the lemonade ordered was flavourless and was practically sparkling water. the dessert was not worth the price, barely got anything and to top it off, 12.5% service charge?? the service wasn’t anything special and we had to ask for napkins when served cutlery which is insane. WORST sunday roast i’ve ever had, if you want something worth your money with amazing service, go to browns.

Pre booked table 2 months ago. Had to wait 35 minutes in bar as table not ready. Was in crutches & had to struggle from bar twice to chase up table. Food was ok but nothing out of the ordinary Leave plenty of time if eating here

Wouldn’t normally write a review but on this occasion I thought it might be helpful to give some feedback on areas for improvement. We had my daughter’s graduation meal here for 9 guests. When we arrived we were told we our table was not ready as the group before were late having their main course but it shouldn’t be any longer than 10 minutes and if it were to be any longer they would set up a round of drinks which was fair. We got our table just over half an hour later and that was not a problem as we were enjoying catching up. The waiter we had was very attentive, efficient and welcoming, however my disappointment was with the food, firstly my husbands sides of chips were cold, my daughter and her friends pasta was cold, I asked to have one plate heated again, my own main dish was brought to the table when my husbands meal was nearly finished and he is by no means a fast eater. All in all I was very disappointed as we were celebrating a special day with her family and friends and expected a much better standard of food than what was brought to the table. When the bill arrived all drinks were charged and we had to request to have one round removed as promised by staff. I’m sure this is not a true reflection of this restaurant as it was extremely busy but on this special occasion we were left disappointed.

Having had an amazing weekend in Liverpool we finished off with a walk around Albert Dock. Popped into Gusto for a quick pizza before heading back to our apartment. No tables for 30 minutes so we took a buzzer and ordered a bottle of wine. The manager who gave us the buzzer was far from warm or approachable. The wine was the first time in our 3 days we felt drink was overpriced as Liverpool on the whole had been really reasonable for food and drink but here a chain was as usual over charging and under delivering. £35 for a house Pinot is a joke. So after waiting 50 mins with no buzzer I asked another waitress how long we would have to wait and there was a table available. We had been forgotten. We only wanted a pizza or pasta quick meal. We ordered 3 pizza and a bowl of pasta and waited. The 3 pizza arrived all the same. Stone cold. They has been out the oven over 15 minutes and were cold. Pasta arrived and was fine. We complained they asked if they could cook them again. We said we did not have time to wait. Manager came and said she could see they were cold. No explanation and all 4 meals were removed from bill. We never ate the pizzas and left after being there for 2 hours. How can an Italian restaurant fail to serve up 3 hot pizzas. This is my second experience of Gusto. Last time was Edinburgh and it was exactly the same. Service was terrible and food was even worse. That's me done with this overpriced. Over rated chain. There must be something fundamentally wrong with the set up of this organisation. Something isn't working.

Delicious dinner and excellent service!

We visited for my boyfriends 32nd birthday on the 27th March. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and birthday wishes. Our server, Luke, went above and beyond to ensure my boyfriend had the most amazing birthday possible. He was incredibly funny, engaging and so passionate about his job. He told us how much joy it brought him meeting people from all walks of life and how he always strives to leave them with the most amazing memories. He did not fail in this at all! I suffer with social anxiety and he was able to make us feel like we were the only people in the room, despite the restaurant being full! Luke is an absolute credit to the brand and this branch in particular. Although we don't live in liverpool, Luke has made return customers of us and he deserves all the praise in the world. The food was to die for and i couldn't recommend the steak experience enough, nothing will ever compare! There was another staff member, a lady (I don't remember her name as we were a little tipsy at this point) but she made the most beautifully decorated "Happy birthday" cheesecake which just ended the night with perfection. Gusto Liverpool should be so proud to have such wonderful, caring and vibrant employees as the face of the brand. Please give these people the recognition they deserve, it should be sang from the rooftops! Until next time, thank you so much!

Had a great experience at Gusto Italian by the dock in Liverpool. The service was excellent, especially from one lovely waitress who mentioned I reminded her of her son, whom she hadn’t seen in a while. She went out of her way to help move my family to a quieter table, as it was a bit too loud for my young niece and nephew. Her kindness and attentiveness really stood out. The food was solid—good quality and enjoyable. Overall, a great spot with a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely return!

Food , service and atmosphere really good. Price was reasonable and quality of the food excellent .

Obviously not authentic Italian food, so don’t go expecting the taste of Napoli or Rome. Italian cuisine has been heavily altered to appeal to the majority of us English, what you’re left with is less than mediocre sustenance. The food is either bland or too has too much onion or garlic. The pizza was a waste of time, you can get better pizza from anywhere else. I won’t be going there again but that’s because I prefer authentic recipes, which can be found elsewhere in Liverpool.

The main point of this review is for our server, Julie. I have never been to a restaurant before and felt so catered to and looked after with it being really busy. The respect and politeness we was given from Julie really made our night after being stuck in hospital all day. She tried her hardest to make sure that we was having a lovely time while being seated at the restaurant also has a fabulous knowledge of wine :). Highly recommended

This is the type of fun place I like to go. Lively atmosphere, good music without being too loud. Food is tasty and the staff are welcoming and friendly. This is the best pasta arabiata I tasted, goes well with a Sauvignon wine. There is a good friendly happy buzz. A nice bar area to rest if you want. I will back again if in Liverpool. It's 2025 and I am back. This place is still so relaxing the staff friendly and fun to banter with. I would like to commend Julie my host for making the dining experience lovely. The bar area I do love, music is good, and a cozy area to just chill. But it still has a fun buzz atmosphere.
