Best restaurant in the UK for Nepali cuisine. Thali set, momo & thukpa are always special here for my family.

I have been travelling 108 miles from my door to this Small Gurkha town , for Nepalese Groceries and test some authentic Nep food. For 8 years I have always been going to one pf the top and high rated but small nepalese restaurants( won't name) as thats also good. I thought to change and take risk but I wasn't disappointed with the test, though service were slow may be due to rush hours, but was happy as I got what I was looking for. Its next to quality just shop there and pop here. I will visit again and see it still maintains its rating from me or gets down. But for now Its 5 star for me.

Great place to go with most of the famous food from Nepal. Third time visit after 5 years and still the same authentic taste and environment. Fast service as expected, great varieties and the food was as tasty as in Nepal. There was a very polite brother who served even when he was busy but not stressed at all. The space is bit smaller however the main thing "the food" we found to be as original as before. Thank you Gurkha Villa team. We will certainly make another visit next time when we're around.

Better Cash policy on Weekends should be removed. Not everyone walk around with Cash in their hand.

The fact that ever time you visit, their card machine is not working made me realise .... not recommend... they make me walk 20 min just to take out cash out from Lloyds.

We were 5 of us and was given tabel of 4 when clearly we can see there was plenty of spaces but still got us to seat in a tabele that was for four. Never smiled once Even when taking order he seemed angry and didnt feel comfortable to order what we wanted. Food was good but due to the service could not enjoy it at all Waiter was very rude When our orders came He didnt place it nicely insted he just threw the plate in thw table and the food nealry spilled. In our entire time in the resturant there was still other table that were vacent but the waiter never offered to change table when clearly he can see we are having difficulty to enjoy our food. Never come once to ask us how the food was. Due to the lack of service in the restaurant i wouldnt recommended this restaurant. Waiter needs changing or needs training more on how to give proper service to the guest.

Customer service needs to improve, when you get unprofessional person at the counter everything goes downhill. Also, the wait time for food to arrive was long.

Very tasty, massive portions, filling so that I took half of the food home and had full board for another day! Everything feels so organic and healthy, so delicious, some of the herbs makes you reconnect to your guts, gives you the feeling that food always should be like this. Service is kind, quick, prompt. Telling you about their habits, stories about what was made and how and why, encouraging to eat with hands as they do - this part was a bit funny tho. At the end, free candies, fennel seeds and nuts to refresh your breath. A very modern, clean place, not too large but rather welcoming, highly recommended! Will definitely return and try some more. Food is great. Just went for a quick snack. We ordered alu neemki and Momo. Service was fine as we were the only customer at the time but I have waitrd more than 30 minutes for a takeaway few weeks ago. So, it is tricky to rate on single visit. Also, card payment wasn't available at the time and it has been quite usual thing in this restaurant so had to pay with cash. Had to go to the nearest (5 minutes walk)cash machine to withdraw which is inconvenient in a freezing evening hence 3 star for the service. Atmosphere is good as the place was clean and music in the background etc. I will recommend the place but would suggest to carry cash as broken card machine has been usual thing in this restaurant.

First time trying Nepalese food. Food and service were good. The portions were bigger than expected. A bit hard to understand who is working since nobody seemed to have a uniform. The mango lassi was delicious! One toilet which is kept clean and has several aromatic candles that smell good. Favourite dish was the steamed pork momo but the fried one is good too! Only a couple tables on a Thursday afternoon.

Mystery, Card reader doesn’t work most of the times!

Very bad service and the guy lied to us about the card reader not working and took cash while the others were paying by card. Food wasn't up to the mark. The server needs to communicate a bit better.

Popular restaurant to have Nepalese cuisine. Taste is good and atmosphere is good despite the small space. Last week, I went to have a lunch with my friend and ask member staff for mild hot food which he said could not be served. I was chaffed by the response coz I don’t see any logic where mild food could not be prepared. One area the restaurant has to look at is ‘customer service’.

Our experience has been an average on this visit. Although the food items that we ordered were served on time and were of nice taste, the service could have been much better!! When we entered the rearuarant, no one bothered to greet us. We said 'namaste' as courtesy, but we didn't get any response on this - that was a bit awkward. Very strong (bad smell ) from rest room nearby our table. We could see the restaurant used some air freshener and scented candles, but clearly, those weren't working.

So many good choices for Nepalese food in Aldershot, this is not one of them

Quality Nepalese food at a great price. Soup is really delicious.

Nice food and service. One ask from me is please go easy on the SALT - the monos in soup were way too salt.

If you want a full authentic Nepali cuisine experience then this your place. The food is always tasty and you can't go wrong with the flavours. It's a long standing favourite restaurant in the nepali community and among the locals. It's a great spot to eat with friends and family. You can Nepali street food, classics like momo and the traditional thali set. Definitely recommend a visit.

Small but nice restaurent to go with family & friends for lunch or dinner. I dnt like the idea of only cash. Food was good. Only drawbacks pay with only cash.

1-star experience.😠 It was not our first time. We were a group of 8 people and the overall experience remains 1-star due to several reasons. Basic service was very poor throughout our stay, lack of staff and a terrible vegetable thali set. The worst Veg thali set ever I had in the UK. Lack of vegetables and a ridiculous presentation compared to the price. For those who love Nepali Thali sets, I would not recommend this restaurant for your upcoming dine-out plan.

Whilst staying in Aldershot I hunted out a Gurkha restaurant and came across this little Gem. The building and furniture is basic, but that does not matter, as the food was perfect. Service was friendly, food came out fast, and my bill.... well it was very cheap. I went here as a Solo dinner as I was out on business and if I am in the area again I will come back.

I used to enjoy going to this place but the customer service is really bad. Food was so much better before. Paisa dher bho jasto cha restaurant lai.

I had to wait 45 minutes before I knew my food was not getting ready yet. I had to make an easy decision of cancelling the order and move on and just pay for the drinks. But this left us hungry and bad taste because of the experience. To make the matter worst, the takeaways had being cooked on time and being picked by delivery services in front of waiting customers. I could not rate on food, as I did not get to eat any.

Have been going to this place often when I am in aldershot. Pros: Most food taste really really good.( Better than in Nepal) Wait time is not long. Cons: Price has risen steeply. Asks for cash most of the time when trying to pay with card. Ambience esp music played need to be changed. Dal-bhat need to improve. Not on par.

Have been eating here for a couple of years now, the food is plentiful and full of flavour, they are observing Covid procedures well and I felt very comfortable. Really recommend the Aloo Dum and the Thukpa.

Ghurka Villa does not have a great frontage but decided to take a chance. The menu was interesting with a good selection of meat and non meat dishes. The restaurant was clean , the waiter was not the most communicative but did help with our menu choices. Reading other reviews this place appears to either excellent or terrible. Take as you find for us the food was flavourful, cooked well and we thoroughly enjoyed all our dishes At around £12.50 a head plus drinks it was also excellent value. We would return and eat here again.

I am in love with this restaurant and the staff are lovely too. This is my favourite nepalese restaurant as the food so good. Would definitely recommend for 1st timers or even usuals.

Restaurant itself is OK. However, they don’t open until 12 noon when their website clearly says opens at 11. It’s not nice to give out wrong information if they can’t keep up with it.

Great Nepalese food for four with friendly and good service. We booked in advance and were seated in the main area of the restaurant close to the well - stocked bar. Cobra & Gurkha beers were available on draught. The menu is extensive with a great choice of Nepalese chicken, lamb, Pork and vegetarian dishes. Traditional curry dishes were also offered. Crispy pappadums with tasty chutneys including lime pickle and mint sauces kicked off proceedings and gained unanimous approval. All four of us were delighted with our varied starter choices including Mo Mo chicken and vegetable samosas in a thick pastry case . Our table talk was all about the lightness,freshness and flavours of the well presented food. Main course portion size was fair with Veg, lamb and chicken dishes all enjoyed with fragrant pilau and boiled rice with vegetable side dishes . This was our second visit and our friends first. We will be returning to enjoy the great flavours again soon.

This is one of the bad experiences I have had. They will not accept card they will only accept cash...at first they said they accept card but after you had food they will make an excuse and make you pay by cash. And after food you have to walk all the way to cash machine and bring the cash and pay. One of the worst restaurant in town. Someone from inspection group should check them.

I went to this restaurant with friends and family a few days ago for a late lunch. Even for the lunch, it was all fully booked, luckily, we did not have to wait. The restaurant is easy to find and roadside parking is available in a very fair price. This is a small sized restaurant where maximum 30 approx. can eat in but popular local restaurant for the Nepalese food. It is always better to give a prior call and ask for a table as this place gets busy most of the times. All staff are very friendly and helpful and good service. food price is reasonably ok. Will definitely visit again.

A very classy nice restaurant. A warm welcoming, followed by an excellent service with a lot of attention to details on order to please you. Came here for dinner with my family. We had some roasted edamame (sadeko bhatmass)marinated with traditional version of ingredients on them. It was so delicious. Then we had non-vag thali set and was served as fresh. No word to say that was awesome. The service always with a smile and very patient with us. Conclusion, if you have the opportunity, go eat there. I can’t wait to go back there again for more versions of food.

The food is fantastic, really delicious, the chow mein is a favourite as is the samosa chat and anything chilli!

I was there with my Freind something to eat , we were bit in rush . We looked at the menu be ordered Pork momos.. it was delicious , although I was Saturday and busy , our food arrived in 15 minutes .if you want to have quick fastfood this is place to try !!!

Been on a trek around aldershot for Nepalese cuisine and this place is amazing. The selection is phenomenal and served very well. Beer was a bit flat on draught and having club station on tv was bit annoying. Other than that will be back.

In aldershot this might be the only resturant i would go for good food with friends and family. Ya sometime there maybe ups and downs like they forget some dish or sometime pork Jhir(one of the best dish) they burn it but still i wouldnt go to any other nepalese resturant because i know this place is only one that matches with my taste buds. Aloo Nimki, Extra crispy Pork ear, Pork Jhir,Sukuti Chatpate, Fried Rice and Chow mein are must order foods. Oviously place is small, looked cramped, one person handling everything out but atleast get what i pay for. I would still recommend this place to anyone i know

For a start no customer service at all. Out for a meal for two and the starters arrived with 15 minute gap not together or very close together like what should happen.

I went to the restaurant to get a takeaway meal. I made an order through online and they asked me to visit in twenty minutes. When I get there there was nobody in reception. I had to wait for ages and had to find myself to speak to someone on order I made. Customer greet was absolutely outrageous. I had to wait for ages and there was even nobody to ask me to wait. I asked the waiter for payment method and he said card payment is unavailable and guided me to go to near cash machine. However, it’s a bit weired that card payment in restaurant is unavailable. Later, he gave me a bill and it was hand written one. Food was very very poor in quality. I had Alu nimki and vegi Mo-Mo. It seemed not fresh and taste was not what it supposed to be. I am really disappointed with all service. I recommend it’s not worth to visit the restaurant. Owner must seriously review the comment If they want more customer to visit them. I hope this comment makes owner to understand how unsatisfy we are as a customer.

Second time at Gurkha Villa. The food is amazing. I love the pork belly. The portions are massive though, especially rice options so would advise order a rice to share. They do give takeaway containers for left overs though. 100% recommended.

I have been eating in this Nepalese restaurant for a year. I love this restaurant because the food is freshly made, delicious and authentic Nepalese. I always have the vegetarian Platter which is divine and the price is reasonable. I always recommend this lovely family run restaurant on Station Road in Aldershot. Near by there are also some great Nepalese supermarkets where you can buy spices etc. It is a ‘foodie’ heaven having lunch at The Gurka Villa then off to explore the food super markets. There are always Nepalese people in the restaurant so it must be good!

I went with my family in this restaurant and ordered chiken chilli ( other food we ordered seemed ok) which when I took a fork to eat, had a very strong smell of burnt vinegar which made me cough instantly. Had one bite and I knew the chicken was off coz I can feel the meat was very oddly stringy and flaky and foul smelling. Later on went home and vomited straight away. My husband had diarrhoea. We were basically given stale and rotten chicken. This really put me off coz I liked the other food they served and they did feel fresh and tasted good. I couldnt even complain about that as I was already feeling weird in my tummy after 10 mins stay in there and was rushing to go home as soon as possible.

This restaurant used to be a top destination for Nepalese food. Throughout the year it has downgraded alot to the point where staff has 0 customer service skills and the food just tastes bland, ages to come or very salty. When you're entering the premises the staff does not bother to guide you to a table or greet you. They just expect you to find a table by yourself where they will come and just drop the menu to you without any communication. Would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

I went all the way from plumstead to aldershot as most of my friends recommended the place. As soon as i entered the place, the vibe was not good at all. There was noone to greet or to say where to sit, as mentioned below , they dont tell what the food is, just slided on the table. At least we said Thankyou coz thought but there was no response at all which is really rude to be honest. Food wise, it took time and wasn't as expected. Never going back again .

Top notch food every time in there.

We ordered pork and chicken momo which seemed cooked straight from frozen without being left to defrost first inside of the momo was still frozen you could see the meat wasn’t cooked of what little there was just plenty of onion. I was really worried about salmonela and worm. For the 2 plates of sikuti that came was not sikuti In my experience but deep fried meat sort of resembling bad tasting pork scratching every time you took a bite a mouth full of oil came out, on the menu it was described as lamb but tasted like it was made out of pork belly... I felt the food was an attempt to save ingredients hence money but most of us know Nepali food is already cheap to make so why do this. We didn't finish the meal as it was disgusting. Told the waiter or bar man it wasn’t very nice he was rude and ignored me. He was very arrogant as he would bring one plate at a time on table and just slide it off with out saying anything so we didn't know what was what. The food also took forever to make. I have seen good comments and someone even recommend us to go here but never again it was just a horrible experience on the whole. We always go to the one opposite malingo i believe which has better customer service and better food, when they are late they let us know.

A cult favourite to many Nepalese folks. Want to have Nepalese food? Then head off to Gurkha Villa. One of an iconic Nepalese restaurant that has a loving customer base. Known to be the first choice of many teenage Nepalese community. Unfortunately, currently the food seems to have changed drastically, smaller portions and saltier food compared to its golden days. Will try again soon as my hope is still high. Maybe the last time I was serviced, it was a fluke that I received numerous salty dishes.

Foods here are very tasty. Only the place is small but foods are very tasty and mouthwatering. Staffs are also very friendly and helpful. You should probably try Buff sukuti which is very mouthwatering and tasty for starter.
