Gurkha Villa in Ashford

As soon as we walked into the place we were ignored. We made ourselves known to the waitress asking for a table of two. To our surprise they ignored us and sat down the table of 5 behind us and then another table of two behind us who definitely had not booked a table. No explanation, just completely ignored. Not much to say about the food as we didn’t try it, we walked out.

I had to come here for lunch and ordered the chilli Momos, however they were incredibly spicy- which I didn’t expect. The service was good, atmosphere was a bit cramp here. All n all Nepalese foods are the best!

We had not tried Nepalese food before, but we felt adventurous and gave this place a go. We were glad we did. Most of the customers were non-Anglo, which gave us confidence. It has a long menu. It appears from subsequent research that they have a good selection of different kinds of Nepalese dishes. Service was kind and polite, if a little bit slow. It’s not a fancy restaurant, but the food was spectacular. Wonderfully spiced, with interesting combinations of flavours and textures. We would definitely return.

Update 28/09/24 Again Visited Gurkha villa Yesterday. And this time it was more awesome. Tried their Korean Fried chicken chilly. Gurkha villa special fried rice, chicken thali, Butter nan and mango lassi. It was really really awesome. Especially their Korean chicken and fried rice is a must try in Ashford for sure ♥️. Thali was good. The staffs their was so polite and friendly. Updating the photos of what we had too. This place is a must try food spot in Ashford. 20/08/24 Recently visited here and their Chow mein is awesome. But the chicken biryani is not that good. Will definitely visit there for the Chow mein. Also has a mango sweet lassi that is also good. Customer service is so good. Ambience is also good, plenty of seating available.

Very delicious food and very kind service. We love to eat asian food and this is a authentic place to eat nepalese food. We were here at our last night in the UK and we really enjoyed it. It was like a short (food) trip to Nepal. We would like to return, but we live in Germany. It is a little bit to far... But who knows!?!

Best in everything!! We were three people doing the cliff hike and wanted to taste real Gurkha/Nepali food. The food was beyond our expectations with real authentic taste, felt like we are at home in the subcontinent. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The best restaurant I have ever been in the UK. I wish I could visit once every month, but coming from Coventry would be a bit challenging :(

It's a fantastic place to dine. The staff are very friendly, and the food is excellent. The prices are reasonable too.

We go here for jhol momos and thupka. Real good taste and large portion size.

All-day dining at this fantastic restaurant which appears to be the local canteen for many of the Nepalese community in the Ashford area, which is always a good sign. The food is really tasty, the spice and seasoning just right, with lots of authentic Nepalese dishes, as well as some others from Indian and Korea to broaden the appeal. Warm and friendly service, with a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Superb value for money too. Highly recommended.

Food here are good but the only issue is that it takes too much time for any order to receive. I do recommend to have a visit to taste some of the dishes.

Only had takeaways so far, as easier than all going out in cold wet weather. Good food, Ready close to time requested, and for a good price. Fed family of 4 for under £40.

We have now been there a few times. No matter what the disch, always exceeda are expectation. Excellent egg fried rice! Always serves with a smile on their face. Brilliant portion sizes.

First visit to this place. Nice ambience with soft music. Nice place to dine in with your partner or friends. They provide good quality and hygienic food. I tried samosa chat which was 7/10 as it was lacking sourness and spices. I also ordered chola batura, it was a tasty one except a bit oily. No parking available for this restaurant. Overall, a nice restaurant to please you taste buds....

Absolutely loved the food we had here. We ate in the restaurant, service was excellent, the waiter helped recommend dishes and the food was exceptional. No grease, beautifully cooked and huge depth of flavour and spicing. I would encourage if you like spice to consider the Chicken Chilli Momo. We had both pork and chicken Thali. Try it - you won't be disappointed.

I love this place. As a non-Nepalese person, I feel welcome here and all the workers are so friendly. We always get our takeaway from here, the food is yummy every single time!!! Thanks guys, you are our favourite Nepalese place x - Andrew & Linnea

One star is too good. Poor customer service and the quality of the food is poor. Stay away. Ordered takeaway and was told to the waiting time was 30 minutes. But after a very long 1 hour and 30 minutes we got the order. Absolute rubbish food.

Really good restaurant if you are looking for great food with your friends and family. The environment is perfect and loved every piece of food we ordered. The Staffs are polite and great service throught out.

Food here is good but it took them nearly 1 hour to serve us momo only, which was disappointing but staff and interior are very lovely.

Gurkha beer and Mustang gold lager is really nice. The food is full of flavour. My first time. Would definitely come again. A real gem in ashford

I have been taking away and eating in a few times . The food is super delicious and portions are abundant. I definitely recommend their momo either fried or Jhol momo. Can’t have enough of it . Super delicious 😋 The only thing that I can suggest for their staff is to STOP putting plastic cutlery in the take way orders . Just ask the client if they want it or not . Often is the case that is not needed and ends up in the bin contributing towards the plastic environmental issues. Even better think about the planet and include environmentally friendly cutlery like wood one!!! Namaste 🙏

Very good price, selection and quality of food. Staff are very friendly and generally standard of food to a very high standard, especially given the price. Loving the buffalo dry rub chow mien. From spending a little time there, it was busy with the local nepalese community, normally a sign of genuine standards.

Normally a good place but in this instance we were served dumplings that were not edible. The were not meant to be consumed and felt like rotten meatball in the mouth. In order to be polite I just swallowed the dumpling which I had taken bite of and didn’t throw up - the biggest mistake ever. Got me sick for over three days. I would suggest everyone to be careful.

A taste closer to what you would actually get at the eateries in India so may not be for everyone but great for those looking for a very desi taste. The sukuti was awesome but the Aaloo parantha was simply one of the best o have ever had outside.

Really amazing food. Nice ambience. Friendly staff. Food took a little while to come out but it tasted bloody fantastic. All cooked freshly and HUGE portions. Never had Nepalese food before but would 100% eat again here.

Absolutely Bad food. Owner needs to hire Nepali Chef who knows about Authentic Nepali dish. Yesterday we went there food was terrible. Cholia, C momo, chowmein had terrible taste. Chef needs to visit Nepal again to taste and learn how to make this kind of food. At least they should know what ingredients required to make choila.

Good portions, momos were tasty. I had ordered a vegetarian thali and took ages to come through the kitchen about 50 mins. We constantly reminded the waitress for the thali

Google ask me for a review every time I walk past this place so I'm here to say that the pavement outside is perfectly functional, no problems at all.

My go to place for Nepalese Cuisine for a very good price. Food can be preferable to ones taste but if you know what you want then you can't go wrong with this place. If you are first timer, I would recommend asking the helpful serving staffs for recommendation for food.

Gurkha Villa in Ashford Kent Bank Street is a very good Nepalese restaurant for their foods greasbrough price and retail price for the food and also their beers so you should enjoy your food there

Don’t be put off by the fact that there is no menu showing in restaurant window. The food is really nice here. The staff very friendly and helpful. They even served us a little more food with no charge.

The worst home delivery ever this will be my first and last. Too late and they make you wait like for ages. Worst worst experience... sorry I won’t recommend to anyone. I am kind of pissed off. No any worth of paying money.

I visited the restaurant last week with my team of 18 people. I found the overall price very reasonable with excellent customer service. The Nepalese cuisines were finger licking good! I enjoyed vege chatpate , momo, and of course the Nepalese core meal. Traditional Nepalese music played in the background made me feel like I was having dinner back home in Nepal.

Good place. Nice food with nice quantity. Traditional food but prepared differently than any other nepalese restaurant. good price with variety of choices in nepalese food.
