Best food we've had in a while!

Really excellent authentic Nepali food.

Pure gorgeousness on various sized plates. BEAUTIFUL FOOD? BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

My God, this place is a really hidden jewel of delicious food hidden within a somewhat uncared for row of high street shops. Do not let the appearance put you off because once within it would deserve a Michelin star, if such a thing existed for Asian food. The cook is an absolute genius with an amazing blend of spices and delicate tastes magically interwoven. I'm struggling to find the adjectives to do justice to the food but when I suggested to my brother that it's better than any Indian restaurant I've ever been too, he agreed. I ordered some spicy dishes and he had a mild dish but I loved the sauce his food was in too. Do not hesitate to go to this restaurant. Lastly, if you're looking for vegetarian or vegan food then a variety of these options are also available.

We've lived here for over 2 years and walked past this restaurant almost every day...... Saying to each other, we must go one day!!!!!! Wow, it did not disappoint!!!!! Absolutely amazing food, superb quality, freshly cooked, but so worth the wait ..... Best poppadoms, sag aloo and lamb curry I've ever had..... And I've had a few in my time 🐷🐷🐷🐷 we will be back !!!!!

A welcoming staff with a lovely menu that includes a lot of choices for vegans as well as meat eaters. The coconut rice is absolute perfection. Everything was great but the rice was superb. Loved it.

A delightful , low key, family run restaurant. A wide ranging menu , delicious food with plentiful portions and great service. We will definitely return.

It was fairly quiet and not terribly busy which is a shame as the food and service deserve to be experienced by lots of people. Wonderfully flavoursome curries with the special touch of Gurkha spices. Previous reviews have mentioned the need to look beyond the frontage, please do, the culinary experience is excellent.

Im very fussy and this is by far the best food in Bexhill-on-Sea even st leonards and hastings, ive never found a tastier curry in my 10 years of living here. Probably why i order so often! Thank you for your efforts, great service and quality food.

I don't generally do restaurant reviews but have to comment on this one. Don't be put off by the unprepossessing decor because the food and service are excellent. Lamb Choela, Kathmanda (chicken) curry and a fantastic garlic naan. Delicious. Many vegan options too.

Overall, it was ok although some aspects we felt were pretty poor. The three sauces that came with the poppadoms were quite unpleasant and didn’t taste fresh at all. The Gurkha rolls and fried dumplings were ok but no more than that. The main courses, were also ok but the pilau rice was just normal basmati rice with the odd orange coloured grain thrown in for affect. The accompanying salads were just awful consisting of just a bit of chopped up iceberg lettuce, one sliver of cucumber and two slivers of carrot. The hosts were pleasant but I’m afraid I won’t be coming back.

Absolutely fantastic food in the heart of Bexhill-On-Sea, the mix grill was awesome, paneer chilli 🌶️ lovely and spicy. The guy at the counter and his sister who run the place with their mom are top notch people

This was my second visit to this small restaurant. Both times the food was delicious and the service really very nice. I was pleased to see a variety of vegetarian and vegan wine on offer. I hope to go again very soon.

Best curries you'll find anywhere, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Almost empty on a Friday night post-Covid, I'd hate for this place to close.

If you aren't eating here, what are you even doing with your life. The food is on another level. A whole different plane of existence. Im pretty sure that dhal is from another world, it tastes too good. Your not going to go wrong here. Also the people who run the place are so lovely. If I could rate it 6 stars I would. One of the best food places in East Sussex. Criminally underated.

A very welcoming family run restaurant with a great variety of Nepalise dishes. If we were to complain it would be about having had too much lovely food (we were hungry and ordered too much)! Definitely reccommend.

First time trying Gurka beer which was lovely and just under £5 for a pint. The food here is great and the taff are lovely we felt really welcome.

Never eaten there before, then ordered takeaways twice in four days. First one was sensational, couldn't imagine the second would be as good... but it was! Shame you can't give 6 stars.

I paid for a prawn biryani and got a plate of squid/octopus looking things. Nothing like prawns. Much chewier and lacked flavour. How can you advertise as king prawns and yet serve up chewy cooked-from-frozen squid.

I ordered online vegan momos and chow chow....and it is the best dish i had ever.

We went to celebrate our son's 25th and the staff (a family?) were all so sweet and hospitable. Plus, they set up the table especially for him including card and balloons! The food was great and us boys enjoyed a bottle of Gurkha beer. Definitely recommend.

From the outside looking the place doesn't look much. Classic case of not judging book by its cover, exceptionally good food at normal prices. Had house special sizzling lamb and a traditional chicken dish. Washed down with some decent Nepalese beer. Dinner for two £37. Def go again.

Very pleasant evening, lovely food we had a between us lamb sizzler, king prawn tikka masala, lemon rice, mushroom rice, ghurka special masala, and saag paneer all delicious 😋

Such delicious food, my husband had the butter chicken and said it was the best he has had...the only reason for 4 stars was because the poppadoms were stale...this is purely for feedback, we will definitely use again. Following on from my last review we had a take away tonight and everything was absolutely delicious, especially the poppadoms...we would highly recommend.

My favourite local restaurant, by far. Along with my friends and family, I've been eating here for years and we have never had a bad experience. The food is always delicious and made with care, and the owner is a lovely guy. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

We love this place, the service is good, the staff friendly and our particular favourites are number 18 & 22 with lamb. All this offers good value.

The Gurkhas is my favourite restaurant in Bexhill, the food is exceptional and the owner a real character. Perhaps it’s not the flashiest of restaurants, but that for me is a plus. The atmosphere and food are the priority for me and this place has both in spades. Best food in Sussex!

Friendly people who will prepare you a particularly tasty meal at an affordable price. Nepali food is different from Chinese or Indian food: thoroughly enjoyed.
