Wow, what a find. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the food was amazing. The Lamb Khasi was to die for. Had the Kothe starter, along with Chow Chow and Bhutan. All delicious. Very good service and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back.

Kindof expensive but really tasty. Mo mo's, lamb curry with cashew paste, papadams, naans-- everything was good. For 6 pple it came to over 200+£ excluding dessert. So entreés, wine, main meal-- thats it. Waiter was really nice patient, taking table pics for us. It is small though inside so large groups take up alot of space and it gets loud.

Absolutely glorious food! Friendly staff, wealth of selection, sensibly priced and again, cannot stress this enough, a dining experience worthy of all the praise. Try the rim-jim chicken and the chicken noodle soup. Lentil dhal also wonderful. Thank you for a memorable meal!

One of our favourite restaurants in the Hastings area. Really good food and lots of vegan options. Also great views of the sea!

An excellent restaurant serving delicious Nepalese food at an affordable price! I made a reservation for my cousin and I and we were allocated seats by the window. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I went there last year and had a good experience on that occasion too. They also do deliveries and collections can be arranged with them as well. I will definitely be going again!

My wife & I had a great meal here the other day. It was a Monday so not many places open in St Leonards. We had eaten here before but not for quite a while. The food was really delicious. The staff were very friendly & efficient & the general atmosphere good although we would have preferred the music to be a little more authentic rather than 1970's English chart music. Would highly recommend.

I was late trying to find a reservation for a Saturday evening for 5 people, but finally decided to try this place. We're staying at an AirBnB, so don't really know the area all that well, but were really pleased with this place. Asked for a table by the window, which they gave us, a beautiful view out to the sea. Everybody's food was delicious, including dessert! Wait staff were always available, but never pushy. We had a nice leisurely 2 1/2 - 3 hour dinner. Only downside was the noisy stag party at the next table, but they were almost done when we arrived, so after they left it was perfect!

We went as a large group for Father's Day and it was a fantastic experience. Suraz was very attentive and efficient and we loved the ambience of the restaurant, with its wonderful sea view. We were not rushed and we all enjoyed our food - a wide range of different items from the menu, all of which were first rate. We all agreed it is the best place in town for a family meal. The price was reasonable and the menus were clear and transparent in terms of pricing, without extras. Faultless.

Picked Ghurka Chef because of its great reviews but our take away was lacking in any depth or variety of flavour with overriding raw chilli heat on the hot dish. I like hot but expect spice to have been cooked. Very surprised and disappointed.

Nice tasty curries and great views of the seafront. Service fine. Draft beer not recommended, better to take bottled beer. For me, my curry was a bit sweet, makes me wonder if they add sugar which would be a shame. But nice evening, good food for reasonable prices.

We were in St.Leonards last week and there was a Gurkha flyer in our holiday apartment. Since we really wanted to sit on the balcony with the wonderful view of the water, we decided to order food and pick it up. I had the chow chow noodles and loved it so much that we got our food from Gurkha again the next evening. The stuffed bread with cheese was also very tasty. If we spend time in St.Leonards again, we would definitely eat there!

Great food as always, one of our group on this particular visit has specific food ntolerances, both the Chef & Waiter took their time to fully understand this & made sure we all had a tasty meal. Thanks will be back again.

Polite and professional staff, very clean and appropriately decorated restaurant. Good food choice but the momos did not taste great compared to other nepali restaurants. I am also confused by the presence of indian dishes while the basic jhol momo is absent in such cold environment??

Great address. Visiting from France we were a group of 8 people. Our first time in this restaurant. Food was great and everyone really appreciated the meal. Service was very good. The only problem was that there were other groups at the same time as us so it was a bit loud at times but thats certainly not the restaurants fault.

When I tell you I moved away from Hastings 3 years ago and still think about the food at Gurkha Chef (especially the momo), I am not kidding. The only place where monthly on payday we absolutely ordered from here without fail. Still thinking about Gurkha Chef to this day - I recommend EVERYONE to order from here - never been disappointed and only wish they were able to move with me 🥰

Walked past and saw they had a deal on £13.00 for a 2 course lunch, got the bill and was told the meal we had wasn’t on the deal wasn’t told this and also they class a rice as a 3rd course got a bill for £52 and also tried to charge £5 for less then 1/2 pint of coke. They also did this to a couple sat next to us they paid it so we thought they won’t try that again, but they did. I wasn’t going to let it lie and played up explaining that you can’t charge more for something that you were advertising for less. In the end the bill was £32 including the drinks. The menu has no prices on it and you’re not told what food is actually with the deal. Be very wary when using the restaurant. On the up side the food as really nice, just a shame about the total confusion with the staff and prices.

Amazing food if you like Asian food

Had a takeaway here 16th Feb 2023. So much nicer than the usual boring tandoori style restaurants. Clean, fresh, distinctive flavours galore, all at a reasonable price. Wish we had something like this near where we live. Will definitely come here again when we visit Hastings again.

We booked last minute on a Saturday and were lucky enough to get a table. The food is Nepalese and was delicious. Staff were very polite and efficient.

Great restaurant, lovely food & considering it was New Years Eve we weren’t waiting long for our food, will definitely return another time, a local little gem!

Het restaurant is open, in tegenstelling tot wat hier op Trip Advisor staat. We waren zeer tevreden. Alle bestelde gerechten waren zeer lekker, grote porties, kleine prijzen. Eenvoudige, maar schone inrichting. Vriendelijke bediening. Aanrader!

Lovely restaurant right on the seafront. It was hired out in its entirety for a Xmas party meal for just over 30 guests, but this is also a perfect restaurant for an intimate dinner for two too. The staff were absolutely delightful and so attentive. The food as ever was superb (it always is!). The chicken Rim Jim is to die for! Thank you Gurkha Chef!

The food is most excellent, however the service and customer care could do with a bit of tweaking. As I was working Xmas day I messaged to see if they were open... No response, so I went in 23rd and they confirmed they would do takeaway Xmas day. Went in Xmas eve and gave written order. Went in Xmas day before work to collect my food to eat after work when they would be closed, when I got home 11pm Xmas day, I found my order incomplete, so it was not very enjoyable as id ordered the mixed grill and a saag dish, only got part of the mixed grill and the saag was not there, it had been replaced with mixed veg curry which I do not like, so my meal was very unsatisfying eating dry meat without the saag dish I'd ordered. Popped in last night after work and was told a manager would call today, no call by 5pm so I called them.... After alot of explanation the manager agreed to make me the saag dish and also what was missing from my mixed grill (the king prawn.. The best bit)! So 2 days after I had my Xmas meal, I finaly got what I paid for (and tipped heavily) I will return, as the food is excellent... But I def won't order takeaway from them again. Note to manager, when you mess up someone's very expensive Xmas day dinner..... Maybe pop an extra prawn or two to make up for it🤔 Also, the manager seemed quite dismissive with me on the phone, and when he repeated back and go it wrong and I repeated louder and clearer, he accused me of shouting, clearly not happy to admit when they get things wrong which is a real pity as I say the food and the waiting staff are generally excellent

Excellent Food. Very reasonable prices. The dishes are full of flavour and made with quality ingredients. The food is cooked freshly because it takes a while for it to arrive. But it's worth the wait. The staff are very polite and friendly and helpful. In my opinion the best Curry in Hastings. Look forward to coming back. Would recommend.

No pretentions, no gimmicks just good wholesome food and attentive genuine service. Very reasonably priced. So far, our favourite curry house in the area.

The food from Gurkha Chef is excellent. However there was a Terrible delivery experience. Not the first time. Waited 75 mins. Rang and they said… no drivers. “ we should have phoned to explain. “ they didn't. It’s a real pity as the food is really very good… when it arrives.

Superb selection of dishes to suit all tastes. Went with a large group including kids and no complaints at all. Friendly attentive staff too. Highly recommended

Just had an amazing Sunday lunch. Couldn’t fault any of the dishes and they play great Blues music too! Excellent vegan dishes. Come here before you try anywhere else.

My Son had asked us to have dinner with him and his family. The service was very disjointed and nothing like the reviews I’d read.staff seemed to have little idea of food on order over the Sunday I understand we were a little difficult as arrived at different times before booking. The starters was ordered in good time but came out of kitchen a little cold and with a badly made salad with large bits of lettuce and lack of finesse but tasted ok. Main meal for me was of good flavour and lovely lamb but again was a little cool in the temperature also the rice , I think they could do with a warmer on the table to help with keeping the dishes hot. The Keema Nan I had was fantastic and the best part of the meal dipping into the Kathmandu curry. The server was very welcoming with good interaction with my family and bringing out the birthday cake.

Really good food. Only annoying thing was a,man who was trying to commit some kind of fraud and kept coming in and out snd the serving staff were very loudly discussing it.

Absolutely awesome place if you are an Asian or Indian looking for authentic dishes. Arletta is a friendly lady there to serve you and offcourse other staff are very helpful too. The Chef does a good job cooking authentic dish with all the necessary spices. The place is small but very cozy and warm with a beautiful sea view.

We ate here on a Saturday night, service was excellent and the lamb was absolutely fantastic, the best lamb dish I ever had (Kathmandu curry).

Oh my goodness, the food here was D I V I N E, with views of the sea whilst we enjoyed our food and drink was also very special! Favourite starter was the ‘vegetable pakoda’ well seasoned, lovely fresh and crispy and served with a delicious dipping sauce. The main that stole the show was ‘Gurkha Chilli’ which we had with lamb. My word the lamb was so unbelievably tender and seasoned to absolute perfection. I think it may have been the single most delicious lamb dish I have ever tried in my life. Just melt in the mouth fabulous with a nice kick. Popadums were light crispy and a lovely garlic naan too! Congrats Gurkha Chef you have just taken my number one spot for St Leonards 🌟 There was some drama with the staff - but dinner and a show is how we saw it. Nothing was going to detract from the amazing work of the chefs!!!

We had a delicious meal in Ghurka Chef. It was packed out and we had to wait a long time for our food (well over an hour) but it was really worth the wait. I ordered Ghurka Vegetable Chilli Momo's - very tasty. The cheese roti was a nice (lighter) change from naan bread and great for scooping up the yummy curry sauces. Having been to Nepal and knowing how crazy they are for Momo's there, it would have been rude not to have them. We went for a mix of quite hot and spicy dishes to share including chicken and prawns. Because my husband had told the staff (who are young, very friendly and efficient) that it was my birthday, they gave me a free dessert. Thank you! Also sitting at the window table was great, seeing the St Leonard's world promenading by (Pirates actually as it was pirate weekend) and having the sea view on a windy evening with choppy waves was good too. Very busy and buzzy atmosphere. Lots of laughter. A fun place to eat out.

One of most favourite places to eat, excellent Nepalese food and nice service, never had a bad or bland meal. All freshly cooked.Good for vegetarian and vegan options.

Very well intentioned, but really not good Indian food unfortunately. They do need to up their game.

Wr have randomly discovered this place on our day spent by St Leonards Beach. Great selection of food, generous portions, and the staff delivered great lunch service We had a selection of curry, lamb , and a few side dishes! Worth passing by

The food was delicious and the staff friendly and funny. Had never eaten Nepalese food before and chose some random dishes. One was a chicken sizzler dish which was fantastic. It was dressed in a not overpowering sauce and was very tasty. The price was very reasonable too. Highly recommend !!

I nearly didn’t leave this review as I’m worried I won’t ever be able to get a table again if I share the secret! Been here a few times over the last 5 years. It’s superb. Cheers again guys. Try it for yourself.

The food was absolutely delicious, very balanced & flavourful curries with a variety of options. The momo was a stand out for me, and the dhal was so nice and creamy good lord. The staff were lovely and warm aswell. Top notch experience at a gaff-tastic gaff. Thank you.

I've been meaning to do this ever since we went on Sat 22.4.23 - we were stopping in an Airbnb just up the road, the owners of the property recommended the restaurant and we were 'not' disappointed!! We were 7 customers and we all had a different main course and sides, etc - from start to finish the service was excellent at a very busy time in the restaurant. Food was hot, as in heat and was delicious!! My only observation was that there was/is no hygiene rating displayed - I meant to ask but once we were sat down, we got busy ordering and I clean (excuse the pun) forgot about it - I had 'no' concerns or issues, just thought it odd.

Ordered on the just eats app. Food came on time. Very friendly delivery driver. Food was very nice very tasty and a good size portions. We had a rice to share and that was enough for the two of us.

We visited here for dinner at 6.30pm on a Friday night when the restaurant was almost empty...by the time we left it was completely full, with more people arriving as we left. Fantastic food, lots of options for vegans (they have a separate menu), great portions and the food came out piping hot. The restaurant is quite small & bit dated, but has a lovely sea view. The staff were pleasant but not that attentive. However I would definitely return, and recommend!

Been meaning to try for sometime. Booked 6pm Saturday. Quiet at first but properly busy by 7. Fresh, tasty food served in good time by lovely staff. Lamb was soft and juicy. Vegetarian sizzle dish had nice range of veg not soggy and overcooked. Exceptionally good.

Was looking forward to a nice meal and got a curry that was so bland with chicken that was so dry you could hardly cut it, why can't they use fresh chicken instead of horrible frozen crap, we also had the sizzling prawns that were not sizzling but in the same sauce as curry next to it and were soft , and maybe some salt and pepper wouldn't go a miss, on telling the waitress ( who was actually very nice) she just laughed as though it was the total norm. Think it taking liberties when you pay that sort of money for something you can make better yourself , sort it out

Even though we've moved away from Hastings, whenever we visit, always end the day at the Gurkha. I don't know the young waitresses name but she's lovely, polite n thoughtful.

Prawn Briyani was reasonable but spicy daal and sag aloo overcooked, high in oil and liquid content. So can only rate as average and hope you have a better visit.

Apallinng customer service but good food. We are regulars every time we come down to Hastigs as we really enjoy the food but this time the customer service we received made me question if we will come back. We waited 45 min to get our food. When we asked for it twice we just were told that is cooked from scratch… No apology for the delay whatsoever, just a rude attitude. It is a shame because the food is lovely but I personally dont enjoy dinner when the staff has 0 customer service skills.

Ordered food to be delivered to celebrate the fact it’s Friday! Beautiful food as always, delivered on time, piping hot. A fabulous treat and one of our absolute favourites.

Came here on my own while on holiday. Beautiful food full of flavour and not too expensive, and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The layout is clean and welcoming, it looks like it has been repainted and feels clean and fresh. It has music playing quietly from where I sat. Seemed to have a flow of customers that knew the staff so obviously regulars which is an encouraging sign.

I see this place whilst having a run along the seafront earlier in the day. We had to travel 20 minutes to get here but we are so pleased we did. I'm dairy intolerant and explained this to the staff who was very accommodating and...

This place has gone down hill big time! Used to be amazing. The cod was rock hard and not cooked. The paratha was dry and hard, poppadoms nearly burnt. Will never get their take outs again. £45 and could barely eat a thing!

Wow this is the third time ive used this restaurent and every time the service is awful We were served with short measures with drinks then it took over an hour to get a starter we left
