Came here with three friends for dinner. Pleasantly surprised. All food was fresh and tasty. We mainly were veg with one meat dish. Really enjoyed the vegetarian sushi boat, dumplings, and smashed cucumber.

Attended sisters hen do here with another 7 people. Worked out to be £82 per person (roughly). We were left feeling very hungry. We were served mostly sushi and dim sum. Considering it was a bottomless brunch. The quality of sangria was poor- like diluted grape juice, insufficient amount of food and a £42 service charge (we were told to pay as the beginning of party). Honestly- it was very ‘hyped’ and atmosphere was somewhat enjoyable. Tight space. Really unpleasant. Do NOT book here if you want to spend quality time and have decent food and drinks….really disappointing and not worth it. At all.

Came to this venue for a brunch event & was absolutely appalled at the way in which the bouncers conducted themselves. A woman who attended the brunch decided to start on my friend for “being in the toilet for too long” & then preceded to follow her outside to continue the fight & decided to pick up a chair & act as if she was to throw it at my friend. the bouncers refused to kick this woman out (after seeing her threaten my friend with a chair) due to them being friends with the people she was with. The most the bouncers did was tell my friend to calm down & offered to follow her around all night for ‘protection’ but didnt choose to follow the instigator around to watch her? The bouncers stated to me, verbatim, that this woman was on her “third strike” and they were watching her - if this was a man they wouldnt be granted more than one strike so the double standards is not okay. How can people be granted more than one strike when it comes to safety of other paying customers? We all felt extremely uncomfortable & unsafe in this venue due to the bouncers choosing to prioritise bumlicking some people they know over safety of paying customers. Will not be returning, 0/10

Came here for Christmas dinner. The atmosphere was very fun, and the food was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Honestly, the food wasn't very memorable, but I do remember a lamp falling on someone's head.

After being recommended this restaurant I went to book over the phone. The person answered in such an abrupt way without naming the restaurant that I was sure I’d dialled the wrong number. But it was the correct number, and the server sharply told me that they don’t take bookings over the phone and hung up on me! I then went to their website, where they wanted to charge me £75 deposit for a booking. Perhaps for a restaurant with good service, that was busy on a Saturday night I would understand, but to charge a 5 person table on a night where there was tons of availability (as shown on website) makes no sense! There are too many lovely restaurants in London for you to be so rude to a customer just trying to book a table!

Enjoyed the Sintillate Bottomless Brunch. We were swiftly directed to our table bang on time once everything was ready. Food came out super fast and the server explained how the brunch works. If you need something, turn your lamp white and they will get to you. Food & drink was good. Food portions were great, although we did ask for more chicken but it never came out. Drink was plentiful but the rose was just Blossom Hill. Other than those 2 small things, no complaints. Carlene from Sintillate was our host for the night and she was fantastic. She was on the ball all night and really made our night feel personal, nothing was too much to ask. The saxophonist and DJ were great and made it a lively brunch. The only small thing we would change was that the music was super loud from the moment the brunch starts, to the point you can't hear each other talk or have a conversation. Perhaps it would be better to have the music slightly lower for the first 30 minutes or so and then ramp it up once everyone had settled in. I would recommend for groups who want some good food and a dance.

We were celebrating 2 family birthdays and were a party of 12. Food was OK overall. Starters were nice, mains were average, fairly small portions. We were seated downstairs due to the size of our party and it was deafing, the music was so loud it was ridiculous, more like a nightclub than a restaurant. Service was very slow, mains were served in stages to all. Approx 20-30mins apart.,therefore some food became cold while waiting for others to be served. No ventilation at all very squeezed and tight, not a healthy enviroment, great for germs to spread. When we finished our starters we had to ask for the table to be cleared as they were serving mains before clearing away. If you were seated upstairs no loud crazy music, however it is a small area max 4 people per table. I would not recommend eating here for larger than 4 people purely due to the fact they cannot accommodate well unless you like very loud music and have no issues not having conversations and leaving with a very sore throat.

Nice restaurant, and friendly service, however we did find it a bit to expensive. Impressed buy the selection on the menu, we were tempted to order more food but there was only 2 of us. The food that we ordered was delicious and very well made. This restaurant has 2 floors, it seems that the tables for 2 are on the ground floor and the group tables are mainly in the basement level where there is another bar and DJ (on the weekends I think). We pre booked our table so would have preferred to sit downstairs but were never given that option on booking or on arrival.

I will prefice this with the fact that it was Christmas Night and we had 9:00 PM reservations. Before we were greated with any hospitality, asked about drinks, or had the menu explained, we were told that we had to get all food orders in by 9:30. Not a great way to start the experience. Numerous tables were sat at 9:30 so we clearly could have continued to order but were not given the chance. All that being said, our food was very good and came out extremely fast. We liked every dish we ordered and I would highly recommend the restaurant for food alone. Our server was tough to track down and paying the check took too long but again being Christmas night we were patient.

Food was great (or what arrived was). We ordered a few things and only received two, we then asked where the third item was and they responded that they’ll check and the kitchen hadn’t even started making it. We then asked to pay for what we had and not received the third item as my partner had already eaten there’s so no point waiting another 15minutes. They then brought the bill over and included the service charge which i insisted not to pay. There was no apology or compensation offered. Very rude and blunt staff. real let down

Absolutely the worst service I've ever had in London. Their staff is unfriendly, poorly trained and downright rude. A waiter named Udit was particularly terrible - told us we could leave if we didn't like the table he was offering us. The rest of the staff wasn't that much better. Serving food without bringing plates, forgetting special requests, bringing drinks long after serving the food. The drinks are overpriced and very unimpressive. Their smoked nigroni came with a lovely presentation (the way it's supposed to!) for the first person who ordered it at our table. We then ordered 3 more - those came without the smoked effect. We sent the drinks back. After 10 minutes, the waiter came back with the same exact drinks adding a snide comment "you only get the smoked effect on your first order". And all of this will set you back at least £70 per person without desert. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant. You'll get better service at a local McDonald's.

First off, the place has a great vibe. It feels lively, and the food? Absolutely delicious. But here’s the thing: the service really let the whole experience down. It started with the booking process. They required a £25 deposit against cancellation on OpenTable, which seemed steep but okay for a popular spot. However, when we arrived, it was a mess. They couldn’t find our reservation, and it took a solid 20 minutes of waiting just to get a table. And when we did get seated, it was at this tiny table clearly meant for four, not five. When we asked for a bigger table, one of the staff said ok let us try but the other one just became confrontational. One of staff member (won’t name him) was just rude. He let someone else sit on the available table. His attitude was like, “this is what we do, It’s your loss, deal with it.” We were aghast. He was Just down right rude and Ill mannered. Not what you’d expect from a place that is trying to build itself as being top-notch. Their staff needs training! When we were all a bit upset and almost about to leave we got offered a better table by one of the more calmer members of staff. Next all our food was bought to the table but the plates and cutlery just took ages to appear while the food kept getting cold. Then there were the drinks. One of us ordered a tobacco Negroni - came with this fancy smoky presentation, perfect for Instagram. But when we asked for more, the next round was just basic, no smoke, no fancy presentation. When we questioned it, they said the show is only for the first round. Seriously? In short, while the food and the general atmosphere are great, the service and staff attitude need a lot of work. It’s such a shame; this could be an amazing spot if only they polished up on customer service.

This restaurant looks very appealing online, on social media and on arrival however the food was terribly disappointing. The menu offered good choice and our table ordered a variety of dishes however we were very disappointed with the portion sizes and the quality presented. For example - the Thai Green Chicken curry had minimal flavour and the amount of chicken was so poor! 5 small chunks (not even breast meat!). The chicken satay skewers also lacked flavour and the meat was not tasty. For the price, you can get much much better quality food in london. This restaurant is also rough around the edges in particular when going downstairs towards the toilets. The stairs are dirty and not maintained! Overall, not a great experience and one I would not return to.

Gura Gura is the latest site to open in Slingsby Place a modern enclave of adjoining restaurants accessed from Long Acre but also behind the extended Dishoom in St. Martin’s Lane. It is billed as having two levels but we were only aware of a small cozy ground floor room comprising a long brightly lit bar with a few tables facing. There is a relatively small pan-Asian running a gauntlet of sushi, including nigiri, sashimi and uramaki, Thai Japanese and Indonesian curries, miso black cod, Singapore chilli crab, noodle and rice dishes. We were particularly impressed by the satay, prawn tempura and chicken pad Thai we orders. Service was friendly, efficient and polite.

Hands down one of the best Pan-asian restaurants in London. Been here couple of times and it never disappoints. Lovely ambience in the heart of lively Covent Garden, amazing service and food to die for. Tried varities the sushis, dim-sums and tempuras.. all were brilliant but my favourite was lamb rendang. It is the must try dish. Haven’t had that delicious lamb in London for a while. Also worth trying some of the small plates that were very new for me like corn and peas filled tacos, it was amazing.. Last but not the least thanks to chef Sahil Ratta for such an amazing experience. We’ll definitely be going again whenever around..

Cosy and peaceful place in a reserved yard near Covent Garden. We were seated in the basement where the atmosphere was intimate with a fantastic music (DJ smashed it). All the food was delicately presented, plenty of flavours, textures, colours, aromas, etc. The service could improve but overall we were very pleased with the experience.

I ordered the Japanese Chicken Katsu Curry Rice as my main course, under the 'Larger Plates' section of the menu for GBP 21. The size of the portion, what a disappointment. It felt like false advertisement. Wish I could have my money back. Can have the exact same food at Eat Tokyo in Soho for half the price and double the size.

Highly disappointed with our evening. It is a cold evening and therefore we were wearing big coats and we had to ask staff if there was a cloakroom. Not a great start already! Following this, the food was brought out so quickly and therefore not allowing us to enjoy each dish. In addition, after rushing our starters, mains and dessert, we were told we had to quickly give up the table for the next guests who weren't anywhere to be seen. They couldn't be quick enough to send us on our way! Given the price, you would think service would be on point but it was an utter disappointment. This was a dinner to celebrate a birthday and they did not make it special at all. Shall not be recommending nor shall I ever be going back.

UPDATE: We became regulars here until 2020 and were very sad indeed to dscover that it has closed its doors. A real loss to anyone who enjoys first quality Japanese food! This is one of the best Japanese restaurants in London but it is so authentic that you need a guide. The sushi is good, the usual menu items are very good but if you really want to eat well you need to choose from the blackboard with the day's dishes chalked up in Japanese. Marinated squid guts and tuna cheek are delicious and so genuine: you could be in a very good local restaurant in Japan. These kind of dishes are not found in most London Japanese restaurants and this is why Sakana Tei is special. Grab a Japanese or literate Chinese friend and treat them in return for choosing the delicious surprises you would normally miss!
