Amazing! Some of the best Chinese food I've had in years, massive menu with tons of options, perfect service and great location. Just be aware the spicy food can be VERY spicy 🔥

If you love Shezuan food this is THE place in London! Still craving the chilichicken...

I've been there three or four times and the food is pretty good, but the fat and tall waitress on the second floor is really outrageous. Pouring water and pretending not to see it, serving wrong dishes and letting the guests bear the responsibility, ignoring guests who speak Mandarin, etc... It's very, very uncomfortable, and complaints have been to no avail. I really, really don’t recommend that you come here to accept the bad news. There are many other Chinese delicacies with delicious food and enthusiastic service. I've been there three or four times. The food is quite good, but the tall, heavyset waitress on the second floor is truly outrageous. She pretends not to see when pouring water, brings the wrong dishes and expects customers to deal with it , and ignores guests who speak Mandarin, among other issues. It's really frustrating, and my complaints have gone nowhere. I definitely do not recommend coming here to get upset. There are many other Chinese restaurants with delicious food and attentive service.

A fat waitress on the second floor has a very bad attitude! It's not an accident at all. My friends and I came here four or five times in a month, and every time we ran into her, we were so angry! I won't serve you if you speak Chinese. I asked for water before and was not given water. The foreigners who came after me took the initiative to pour water. This time I asked for payment and waited for more than 20 minutes. When they came, they threw the bill on the table. My friend asked her what she meant without even thinking. I replied and asked her to apologize. She said to her colleagues, "Why should I apologize to them?" But the manager on the second floor was really nice. Even when the wrong dish was served, we were charged according to the original order! Really nice~ I originally thought this meal would taste better, but it was different. It had more rude and racist ignores. It made my good mood today like a moldy pickle.

Background It is one of the few establishments in London that authentically showcases Sichuan's bold and fiery cuisine. During my time in London, it was my go-to spot for Sichuan food. Ambience The ambience is adorned with subtle Chinese artwork, adding personality to the two-floor space. Service The service is efficient, but staff could have been more friendly Food/drinks A standout dish is the spicy grilled fish, an epitome of Sichuan cuisine’s punchy yet nuanced character. Other must-try items include dan dan noodles and salt-and-pepper squid. Overall it isn’t the cheapest option in town, but the authenticity and quality of the dishes make it worth the splurge occasionally

Very tasty food, decent prices and we would return but terribly short staffed and inexperienced. We had to wait 20min for our booked table at 530pm. When we were seated, they greeted us by saying we needed to be out in 90 min but then they never gave us menus or order sheets. The food quality made up for the lack of service.

It's the king's elbow that I've been longing for, and it's true to its name. The whole thing is really big, and the four of us almost couldn't finish it. Soft and smooth, chopsticks gently peeled off the bone, the cortex part of the melt in the mouth, the meat is clear but not firewood, stewed super tasty, the soup can not be missed, promise me must be a mouthful of rice a mouthful of meat, the juice overflowing, to ensure that you eat the belly of the big round satisfaction, eat still want to eat!

☔️ London has a lot of rainy days, drinking soup is the best way to maintain health. This time I ordered pork belly chicken soup, pork belly and chicken fresh aroma are all in, the soup is refreshing but rich, drink the whole stomach are warmed up.

I have been twice to Barshu now. Both times have been amazing. I need to make a little side note that I used FirstTable for this and had 50% off the food bill with this, in that way it is a no brainer to visit this place. The quality is great, and the service is amazing and attentive. When the sun started to break out and hit our table, the waiter immediately came over to offer to pull down the blinds a bit so it wouldn't blind us. I think if you pay original price for the food, it will just do it justice. The price for the area is alright and you won't be disappointed, in comparison with some of the other Chinese restaurants in Chinatown.

When you first open the menu you will see the quote “China is the place for food, but Sichuan is the place for flavour” and as soon as we received the first dish it made so much sense. We ordered the signature grilled seabass, special fried rice and Dan Dan Noodles each dish was just so flavourful, it was spicy but addictively spicy! 🌶️ Lovely discovery in Soho!

Food was amazing. Restaurant was super cool. Service took a while. I think they were short staffed, but it happens.

Great food, you can go without a reservation and wait only 10 minutes on a Saturday to eat, a bit of a hassle to order the food.

Exceptional food & good service. This was the restaurant I was looking for my entire life! As a lover of Chinese food, these Sichuan flavours were everything & more. Had the smacked cucumbers, salt & pepper lotus root, Dan Dan noodles & garlic and black bean chicken. The rosé was lovely, light & perfectly chilled. Can’t wait to be back!

Went with wife and ordered 4 dishes. Generous portions and the lamb rib dish with dried tofu is remarkable (goes well with rice). I feel the average cost would be around 30 ish per head as the portion is quite big. Very reasonable considering the location.

The saliva chicken and dandan noodles in this store really amazed me! The spicy flavor of the saliva chicken is particularly strong, the chicken is tender and juicy, and the chopped peanuts and coriander make the taste richer. The sesame sauce of Dandan noodles is rich and smooth, and the chili pepper is just right. It’s so enjoyable to eat the whole bowl of noodles! I will definitely come here next time and highly recommend it to friends who like Sichuan food!

This Sichuan restaurant is really delicious! The dishes are authentic and rich in flavor, especially the pickled fish in golden soup and dandan noodles! The tea tree mushroom chicken soup is also very delicious and particularly warm to the stomach. Definitely a must-try restaurant for Sichuan food lovers!

the highlight for me, being the 4 michelin guide stickers posted in the front door, were the extremely courteous staff. we arrived at 9.30 on a weekday, which was the kitchen closing time, without a reservation. yet the hosts were welcoming and graciously took our order. the ford was delicious, we had the dan dan noodles which was cooked to perfection, fragrant and glutinous with a generous chilli oil base (my partner nonetheless wanted yet more chili oil and they promptly obliged), chicken in black bean sauce, and classic hot and sour soup. definitely recommend if you're in the area

It was really bad. I had to wait for half an hour for the food to be served. It felt like there was no waiter who understood the process in the whole restaurant. The portions are also very small and many of the dishes taste strange. Very bad. Oops

Great food as I’m a big fan for spicy food!

The last time I came here was in 2017, and today I met the service staff who served us at that time. The boss actually remembered us🥹Time flies. Looking back on the warm hospitality at that time, I miss it infinitely☺️Now it is a Michelin restaurant, and the taste is as delicious as ever. Recommended👍🏻

The food is pretty good, and the service on the second floor is pretty good too. The only shortcoming is the reception at the door. He is obviously not deaf and mute, but he doesn't speak and has a dark face.

I hate to say this but Don't want anyone else to experience this. If you like weird food..definitely go try it out. We spent over £200 and couldn't eat a thing. I normally love all food..anything, I'm a real foodie but it was just bad. Noodles stodgy. Seabass in just water sloshing around. Old powdery potatoes. No taste..just salty. The only ok dish was the rice and the cold Noodles. I feel so angry because it was cheap either. Service was good..that was it. Never again

Found this hidden gem by accident, as we were looking for somewhere close to the nearby Prince Edward Theatre to eat before the show started. It proved to be an inspired choice, a friendly welcome and we were seated straightaway upstairs. The menu was extensive and it was tricky to decide what to try, so my wife asked the waiter for some assistance and he gladly helped. Our orders were ticked on the menu sheet provided so there as no confusion over our meal, and a very nice female came to collect it. While she did, we asked if as we were due to attend the Theatre shortly, could our meal be served a little quicker than normal, which she totally understood and indeed it did come speedily and cheerfully. The food was impeccable, blown away with how nice it was, lovely flavours and clearly made by someone who definitely knew their job well. The atmosphere and decor were top notch too. We came away throughly pleased with our find and will defiantly be returning next time we are in London.

Ordered Sichuan Mapo Tofu and tasted like authentic Chinese food. Really liked it. £45 with vegetables, white rice and Chinese tea. Chinese ladies sitting beside me was eating food like chewing gum. Not sure about their habits. Overall I like the food and atmosphere. Just a few blocks from Chinatown

Excellent Chinese food. The spicy food was a good, sweat on your head spicy, but not so spicy that it was unpleasant to eat. Good bar to compliment the meal. Overall, a great spot for dinner.

Expensive food with poor service

Excellent, as usual. I've been going there two or three times a year for a long time. It is always outstanding. The service is very speedy, and the food is reasonably priced. I can't fault it, really.

Barshu is very organised. The seating area is well spaced. Service is quick and prompt. Don't expect European Chinese food. Their food is authentic and people going to Barshu should aim to enjoy that authenticity. We ordered the beef with peppers,Dan Dan noodles, soft shell crab and pork and prawn spring rolls. Excellent food.

Today I came to Shuiyue Bashan in London Chinatown. It is really a good restaurant that makes people unforgettable. This place perfectly restores the taste of my hometown. After eating, I feel like I have returned to Sichuan! 🥢Pounded eggplant: Appetizer, eggplant is soft and tasty, with coriander and garlic paste, you can't stop eating it. Especially suitable for rice, refreshing and delicious! 🥢Fried cabbage with vermicelli: A classic home-cooked dish, vermicelli is full of the aroma and soup of cabbage, smooth in the mouth, with a slight spicy and sauce aroma, it is simply the taste of home. 🥢Roast duck: The duck meat is crispy and crispy on the outside, and the meat inside is tender and juicy. With the special chili dipping sauce, every bite is full of happiness. 🥢Roast chicken with taro: The taro is soft and glutinous, and the chicken is tender and tasty. The soup of this dish is rich. Every bite reminds people of the taste of home. It is definitely a must-order signature dish here. The environment and service of this store are super good, making people feel as comfortable as at home. Looking forward to coming again next time!

The boiled fish in sizzling oil is still good. The mapo tofu was way too salty and lots of MSG. The service was good though.

The taste is weird, but it may be the specialty of this restaurant. The important thing is that everyone who ate it had diarrhea and stomach pain to varying degrees. It's terrible and we will never eat it again

I went to explore this Sichuan restaurant with my friends last weekend. I don't know enough to tell if this is genuine Chinese food but I tell you this: It was really, really excellent. They even make scrambled egg that is full of flavour! We will 100% return at some point. The menu is a bit confusing and looking at the other tables it might be easy to order too much food, so ask if in doubt. Not the cheapest, but great staff, great wine, and did I mention the food? Excellent.

The food was absolutely amazing! Everything from the stir fried beef to the salt and pepper chicken was mouth watering. However, upon finishing our meal we had to wait 25 minuets before we had to call over a staff member to collect our dishes and plates. Very disappointing service as employees could clearly see we where finished but ignored us and served other customer who finished much later then us who also didn’t call them over. Super disappointing! We had to wait around 10 minuets for the card reader to come too!

Very tasty and authentic. Quick and easy. The two of us initially had a not very advantageous table, but were then able to change easily. The food was great and the spiciness was quite manageable even for Central Europeans.

I'm so glad we discovered this restaurant! On the outskirts of Chinatown it feels authentic, intimate and welcoming. All the staff were efficient and friendly and the lead waiter was extremely helpful in explaining how the ordering process worked how much food we should go for. There was so much choice and so many interesting and unusual dishes that we really were spoilt for choice. Everything we ordered was delicious, a highlight was the chicken the szechuan peppercorns and chilli, totally unique flavour sensations for us! We were also very pleasantly surprised with the prices too, especially considering we were in heart of tourist land. We can't wait to go back.

Food is so flavourful and the host is very pleasant. It does take them a bit to get your drink and we never received the tap water we asked for.

Nice atmosphere and quite welcoming. Service good, workers very proactice and work well together. The food however was adequate unfortunately! Sad to say but most of it was quite oily. We had chicken noodles which had far too much oil. The chilli prawns were over chilli'd and should have come with a warning. West End prices but quite disappointed really.

I have cooked with Sichuan pepper corns for years, be aware they use the very very young pepper corns, and we had the typical mouth reaction big time!. I could not eat the Gong Bao Chicken with Peanuts and the Dan Noodles also were heavy on pepper corns. Service was a bit rushed as they asked us to order 5 times in a 15-minute period. Probably my favourite restaurant in London! Authentic Sichuan cuisine, nice and spicy - looking forward to coming back. The menu is huge, staff are friendly and the kitchen is extremely fast. It’s definitely on the pricy side but it’s well worth it.

I ordered takeout from here so I can only comment that the mapo tofu I had here was authentic and delicious (even after the travel and reheat). It's not easy to find good szchuan cuisine done right. Surprised and delighted for sure.

A great place for Sichuan cuisine, I’ve visited twice and we enjoyed the food on both occasions!

Expansive menu choice. Ranging from what a westerner and non-travelled person might regard as very exotic to some of the more usual Chinese restaurant suspect but chop suey and prawn crackers this ain't and it is so much better for it. Similarly range of very spicy, through spicy, to not spicy and dare I say it....... suitable for the blandest palate. But all full of excellent flavour. In all probably the best Chinese meal I've ever had.
