The original branch of Four Seasons Roast Duck in central London is renowned for its succulent and juicy roast duck. The duck pairs perfectly with pickled vegetables and chili oil, served alongside steaming hot rice for a satisfying meal. The roast duck features a crispy skin with a generous layer of fat. The stir-fried vegetables are delicious and offer a nice variety. However, the price of plain rice is slightly on the higher side. The owner and staff provide excellent service, making for a pleasant dining experience overall.

Listen, this is an ode to what is quite literally the tastiest dish you will ever eat in a restaurant. Not figuratively you understand. Literally. The Cantonese Roast Duck at the Four Seasons Queensway doesn’t just compare favourably with any other Cantonese Roast Duck you might try elsewhere. It compares favourably with anything at all anywhere ever. Here’s why. Crisp, papery, lacquered duck skin gives way to a layer of soft warm melted fat which lubricates the tender dark meat beneath, only stopping at the bone which contains distinct flavours of the spices that were laid in the cavity as it steamed. The unctuousness rounded off by the punch of clove and star anise. The sensations and tastes are all contradictions. Sweet and salt. Sticky and smooth. Dense and crackly. Bony and soft. The result in your mouth, pure harmony. It is at once simple and complicated. A dish nigh on impossible to recreate at home - trust me I’ve tried - and yet what is delivered is a duck not too dissimilar to the one that left this mortal coil. Sure it’s been plucked, basted, steamed, roasted. But the sauce doesn’t need emulsifying or anything fancy, there are no cannisters needed to deliver nitrogen pumped foams or mousses. It think it’s just soy, duck fat and maltose and it’s poured over a duck that, whilst dismembered, is mostly still in its original state minus head and paddles. There is a boned option but that is for pussies. Married with plain rice, it’s heaven on earth. The sauce even manages to make the Chinese cabbage which lurks beneath utterly delicious. Half a duck for one person is too much. It’s too much fat and it’s too much salt and it’s too much sugar. There should be a govt health warning on the plate. And a picture of arteries that resemble the sewage pipes that run beneath Queensway’s myriad restaurants. Kids shouldn’t be allowed near this dish. Half a duck for one person it is then. What is left at the end goes into a doggy bag. Each piece lifted from plate to plastic box as if it’s a jewel, which it is. There are people who will enter The Four Seasons, feel the soles of their shoes sticking to what’s left of the carpet which is about as old as me and do a sharp U turn - sharp as the carpet will allow anyway. Those who brave that initiation may venture to the loo downstairs, leaning on a bannister that doubles in size every year simply for want of cleaning. If you are still here after taking in the sights of the kitchen next to the loo, you deserve this duck. You’ve earned it. If this is what it takes to make duck this good, so be it. I can wait till I get home to pee. The Four Seasons have been making this dish in three different restaurants scattered around London for about 50 years. They can do it in their sleep. That all their energy goes into making it rather than dealing with the upkeep of the Queensway branch is absolutely fine by me. I’d eat it in a bus shelter if that’s where it was being served. Other menu items are a merry mixture of good old fashioned ‘Chinese’ with a sprinkling of some more authentic fare. All of it is cooked well. The Prawn Toast deserves special mention for being of equal measure not only in name. But the duck is the whole reason they don’t have to be particularly polite or do much cleaning at The Four Seasons. To order anything but the duck hanging at the window will single you out as a novice, a tourist or a vegan. Just order a half duck, some rice and some Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce for a bit of cut through. Have it with a pot of jasmine tea which is refilled regularly with hot water. You will be eating your death row meal to hell with the misdemeanour that got you there. PS There is no pic of the best tastiest thing you will ever put in your mouth. I was too busy eating it. The missus did manage to take a snap of the prawn toast and I'm sure there are a million pics of the duck in the photos section

We had to go & find out for ourselves if fourseasons was the ‘real deal’ or just another ‘influenced hype’. What we had 👀: S&S Chicken Hong Kong style - £14.30 Large Egg Fried Rice (no veg) - £11 Lobster With Crispy Noodles - £66 Chicken Chow Mein (no veg) - £12.80 Whole Special Roast Duck - £35.80 Barbecue Pork (char siu) - £15.20 Salt & Chilli Calamari - £17.50 Salt & Chilli Prawn - £17.50 Crispy Pork Belly - £15.20 Mini Spring Rolls - £7.80 Soft Shell Crab - £10.80 (Not including drinks or service charge) What we thought 💭: This spot has been hyped so much and we finally got to see why, this was hands down THE BEST roast duck, char siu & crispy belly pork we’ve had in London, I see why they’re famous for these 3 roast meats, 10 out of 10 in that department. The sides were all spot on as-well. The rice, the chow-mein everything just tasted so fresh. The salt and chilli prawns and calamari were 10/10. The deep fried soft shell crab wasn’t for us, it was more to do with the texture of the crab rather than the actual taste, but the kids loved it 😅. The whole lobster & noodles was okay, you do get a lot of meat in the lobster I’ll give them that, and a lot of noodles to share out, but we just wasn’t fond of the ginger & spring onion sauce it came in, I wish we chose one of the other options of sauce to have the lobster in. It wasn’t bad at all, it just became a bit overpowering after a while. But that was the sauce option recommended to us because we had kids, and the other options we were told, had a kick to them 🌶️. But it was still enjoyable and like I said the lobster was really meaty which was good. We most definitely will be returning. Four seasons is definitely a new family favourite. 📍 Queensway, London ⭐️ Overall - 9/10 Check out our food page on Instagram: @WhatWeHavingNow For more in depth reviews videos and pictures.

It is a place that is not cheap, that is to say that you have to evaluate the place where it is located since there are certain dishes of enormous quality, for example, dishes that I have ordered many times that I have loved are the ducks, the lemon chicken and Malaysian style noodles, but it is also true that I am not going to reflect it in the review because I am a loyal customer and I go very often, but I do have to say that I have sometimes had a bad experience with the prawns. But for the rest I'll keep coming back for the duck and lemon chicken as always.

The legendary shop is Crispy Pork and Soy Sauce Chicken that Thai people know well. The taste here is saltier than in our country. The plates are bigger, have more portions, and are soft and usable. The red pork was a bit too sweet and the chicken came with a ginger dipping sauce that was quite good. Stir-fried Mantis Vegetables As for the soup, it tastes good. All in all, I asked if it was very different from Baan Dra, but it was close to each other. Can you give birth?

A pot of tea for 10 pounds for 3 ppl. Our table was scrambled in a corner where they kept getting in and out for ice and drinks. It was not a nice atmosphere to enjoy our dinner.

I made a reservation in advance and arrived at noon on a weekday, so it wasn't busy. Pork belly and chicken soup, the soup is thick and white, with a strong peppery taste. The three-piece roasted duck, roasted chicken, and barbecued pork are probably pretty good in London, but in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, the quality is average. Didn't taste the way I expected. The shrimp fried rice is very delicious. The shrimps are elastic and the rice has distinct grains. The rice is fragrant and the egg is fragrant in your mouth. The stir-fried bean sprouts are tender and fresh. It is said that many of the waiters here are international students with master's degrees and bloggers, and their service is very cautious.

Visit Date: May 20, 2024 I visited four seasons last weekend, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Ambiance and Cleanliness: The restaurant had a chaotic atmosphere, with loud music that made conversation difficult. Additionally, the table we were seated at was sticky, and the floor around our area looked like it hadn’t been swept in a while. Service: The service was disappointingly slow. We waited nearly 20 minutes just to get our drink order taken, and the server seemed indifferent and unwelcoming. When we asked for recommendations, they shrugged and said, "Everything is okay, I guess." Food: The food was the biggest letdown. The pasta was overcooked and bland, and the steak I ordered medium-rare came well-done and dry. My friend’s salad was drenched in dressing, making it inedible. To top it off, our meals arrived lukewarm. Value for Money: Considering the poor quality of both the food and service, the meal was overpriced. We felt that we did not get what we paid for. Conclusion: Overall, this was a disappointing dining experience. I will not be returning to four seasons, nor would I recommend it to others. There are many other restaurants in the area that offer much better food and service for the same price.

Slitt og trangt om plassen på tross av at lokalet var stort nok. Åpent mellom det skitne toalettet og kjøkkenet. Pluss for rask service. Maten var på bordet under eitt minutt etter at vi bestilte. Den var god nok, men det er jo ogå hyggelig når maten blir laga for deg. Ikkje uventa så sleit eg litt med magen dagen derpå.

The company advertises it is "The best duck in the world". The opposite, the crispy duck was simply disgusting. Old Dry No No

Yummy food, amazing duck and prawns. Very poor quality of wine. Service could be definitely better, avoid the toilets and please note that food hygiene is only 3.

No aircon at all, so hot for the whole dinner, noodles taste awful, roasted pork is very fat skin is not crispy, satays is dry, the bell pepper stuffed with shrimp paste the shrimp is spoil. Most important is the server attitude, a female staff serving our table bad face to us she seems can't understand either Cantonese or English. I am really unhappy for the dinner experience I will never visit this branch again.

The website says The Best Duck in the World. I wouldn't disagree. After second visit, remains just as good.

More people need to order the lobster noodles! It's one of the quintessential dishes to order here alongside the Peking duck in my opinion, and both were great when we visited. It was incredibly packed but the service was still super quick when we went and they were very polite and engaging when helping order out the portions of lobster. We also had razor clams which were nice, but the sauce could have been stronger in my opinion. Only downside is place is quite pricey - it is also in Bayswater though so we weren't surprised by the fee.

Had early dinner a couple of days ago. It was late afternoon and the restaurant was quiet. Service was prompt. The two dishes we ordered were taste. Pricing is reasonable. The interior needs a little TLC.

Very, very good chinese food, we (me and my wife) ordered Chef's specials - a chicken and some beef. Service was very nice, and our meals were served really fast. Taste was great and the portions were not small, so we had to take some home. Tsingtao beer - imo very good! I'd really go there one more time (at least)!

The 'crispy' duck was 'wrinkled' rather than 'crispy', and had the look of being an escapee from the Natural History Museum. Tesco's Pot Noodles are fresher and tastier than the depressing, and depressed food we were served. A memorable meal for all the wrong reasons. Two of us ended up will a bill of £110, a far cry from the ''£20-30' range on the website. Abandon all hope ye who enter here. Do yourself a favour- go somewhere else

The so-called 'crispy' duck was old, wrinkled, and desiccated, and had never seen better days. Two of us had a bill for £110, rather than the illusory prices on their website. Cleanliness of the whole place is highly questionable, as is why the place has so many 'visitors' giving 4/5 star reviews. Surely standards and expectations cannot be that low ?

The place has calmer ambience than Chinatown. The food are Cantonese style and traditional. Roast Duck and Stew beef were my favorite.

I would say to have this standard outside of Asia is indeed remarkable. Since it's always going to be packed, do look for offpeak hours.

Food was very expensive so I imagined it would be good, unfortunately I was sorely disturbed and disappointed with the taste and quality of the food. I ordered; egg fried rice, baked pork ribs, mixed vegetables , and hot poached superior chicken. The ribs, I like pork ribs and have all thes dishes regularly but not normally from this place. The ribs for some reason were out sized they were as big as beef ribs which are large, I’m not entirely sure they were pork ribs and were very fatty with gristle marveled through the meat, not normal. The mixed vegetables were void of any sauce basically dry. The chicken was cold dry and devoid of taste. The rice was the only thing worth eating, never again.

Authentic and delicious dim sum! Dim sum is more elevated than the other places as they don't seem to be streamed from previously frozen batches. Prices are the same as those restaurants in Chinatown - I was told that most restaurants' dim sum are from wholesale suppliers. Dim sum in London have gone up be double, so I feel that the value for the quality is good in this restaurant. I also like that the location is situated in a nice quiet office neighbourhood since Chinatown area is so busy these days.

If you want to eat Shanghainese food, don’t come here. None of the dishes are authentic. The braised pomfret uses freshly thawed frozen pomfret. No sugar is added to the braised dish and it is thickened. There are three pieces of fried rice cakes in the flower crab fried rice cake. The crab meat is still uncooked and transparent, and the soup is not fried. How dare you say that you are fried rice cake? The price of 19 pounds of garlic water spinach is pitiful and the portion is so small that I’m crazy to try to steal my money. Onion and ginger mutton chef uses beef instead of mutton and still doesn’t admit it haha Don’t be fooled by the pictures on the menu, it’s not what you get. Do not come if you want to have authentic Chinese Shanghai dishes. The chef can not cook, he even couldn’t distinguish between beef or lamb. Definitely overpriced

Update 2025 - £10 per head cover charge. This place is reasonable priced for what you get. You won’t get cheaper places other than Chinatown in London. Portions are generous and the flavours are close to what you can get in Hong Kong. The staff can be terse - do not expect silver service. I had worse service in Chinatown - London, Birmingham, Manchester. If you love roasted meat come to this place. The roast duck and roast pork is great. Carpark is under the supermarket 4 hours free parking (as of December 2022).

Went to this specific place for the Dim Sum, it was ok but not spectacular, there are way better options in London if you want better Dim Sum and cheaper, the service was good and attentive, the drinks were on the pricey side (a tea for 1 person £8... its a bit high), the restaurant was not busy at all. Not going to repeat, again its not a negative review, but i was expecting more.
