Gunmakers Arms in Birmingham

Been meaning to go here for years, but never nailed down it's location. How wrong I was. The beer is reasonably priced and the pub itself is so friendly. Proper old school

Great traditional pub , needs a lot spending on the decor, but that's a minor thing . Pleasant man behind the bar , the ipa I had was one of the best I've had The beer is cheap as well so get yourselves down there . Come on , I'm talking to YOU, get your arses down there. I'm waiting.

Good beer, cheaper than most places (probably because they brew it themselves). Nice atmosphere, can get chatting to people if that's your sort of thing

Nice friendly local pub with good bar staff

Great traditional pub, tucked away behind St Chad's cathedral. Fabulous ales, friendly atmosphere and regular live music.

We came across this pub when on a work trip and was pleasantly surprised. The manager was very friendly and had loads of knowledge of the area. The pub has a classic decor and has a nice outdoor area. Pour a good Guinness aswell :-)

Chinese food, eat in or takeaway is excellent.

Unique pub stood still in time surrounded in history. Great beer brewed on site great food . Stay and find out the Birmingham gang story attached to the place highly recommended a visit loved it .

The Gunmakers Arms Pub is a wonderful pub in Birmingham, where they also do live music, support local artists by displaying their work, have a number of guestrooms for people to stop over, and run it's own brewery. When I first went to the Gunmakers Arms Pub, I was impressed at how much the staff go above and beyond in supporting customers, creating a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere for everyone who comes through the door. The staff are always down for a laugh, and the Pub hosts karaoke nights, music nights for local bands, and even allows budding musicians to perform. The Gunmakers Arms Pub is a real treasure of a Pub in Birmingham. It has a chilled out atmosphere where everyone gets on well with each other and we all have a laugh. The Pub has also done charity work and raised money for the Poppy Appeal too. Do visit this Pub if you get the chance :)

Excellent beer and music was excellent

Visited this pub when on Birmingham Gangs evening walking tour and had a beer while listening to a guide. Very nice atmosphere of a local Birmingham pub, just what I was after when visiting the city. Grabbed a nice local beer here later on as well.

Friendly pub serving several ales. Situated just outside the city centre. 10 minutes walk from New Street . Also has a Chinese kitchen serving eat in or takeaway.

The beer selection was good and the cat kept patrons entertained.

First visit yesterday. Great beers to choose from. We had the mild and it was superb. Definitely will be back.

Interesting pub, let's just say that. Eclectic crowd on a Friday evening.

It was the Chinese restaurant, Wei Lee, in the back room of Gunmakers Arms. The fried rice was good with finely chopped chilli peppers. I loved the rice. The wrapping for the grilled dumplings was not properly cooked. I forgot to take a picture of the dumplings. The man was nice, but the lady had a bad attitude. I pray she becomes alright eventually. 🤗 I asked for water and she nearly bit my head off.😩😫🤣🤣

Nice pub, Good pints, could be served colder

Barstaff had disappeared and had to wait almost 10 minutes before one of the regulars shouted for some service. Average Guinness, average service.

What a friendly, customer focused pub. Visited here as part of the Birmingham Canals pubs tour. We sampled a couple of ales that were brewed on site (how fresh!) before settling down. Great memorabilia on the walls, decor was amazing all round. Genuinely friendly bar staff and had a Chinese takeaway on site to boot! A credit to Birmingham and its history. Definitely worth a visit. 👌🏼

Walked down from Colmore row hoping for a pint and a pie. No food though☹️, pint ok👍. Good chat with Claudette though.

It's a dump. Beer is rubbish. Do not even bother.

We were actually heading for (and wandered into ) the two towers brewery as we thought they had a tap room, but we were kindly directed next door to the gunmakers were the beers could be tried. A very traditional pub and clearly popular with the locals, we even made friends with the pub cat.

Excellent TAP HOUSE / BREWERY (2 Towers) Still going strong after there move here a few years ago It's not the best to get to & away from the popular areas but still worth a visit Brewery tours & brew days available with mark (founder / owner)

A gem of a pub with great live music on weekends

Away from town and a small place. 3 ales on not had before so was a nice change. Got busy as the night got on but left early. Lots of art around and a very unique bar. Highly recommend.

A fantastic pint and friendly bar staff.

Popped in for a pint after visiting my grandson at the Children's Hospital. I found it to be a lovely pup with a very friendly bar man served me.

Stopped for one night as the location was perfect for a night out in the Jewellery Quarter (10 minutes walk away). The room was basic but clean and comfortable - very good value for money for the price. Don't go there if you're expecting The Ritz! I didn't use the communal kitchen other than to make a cup of tea, but there are provisions there for a basic breakfast if you wish. The pub served excellent beers, brewed just behind it. It was a bit noisy when karaoke was going on, but that finished at a reasonable hour, so no problems with that. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I last went here nearly 50 years ago when I worked next door a Bailons, the gunmakers. It ha changed into a bright and friendly pub and I got into what was the lounge-bar. I was much too mucky the last time!

Very friendly staff great atmosphere

Fantastic beer and, occasionally, when its on, great food.

Friendly welcome, room was warm and clean, I stayed just over a week in February. It was a very simple yet cosy accommodation, the bathroom just refurbished. If I have to find something at the downside, I booked a room with breakfast, but I found myself having to manage the kitchen, not really "breakfast included" as a service, however, there was tea, instant coffee, cereals, milk, bread, butter, jam and so on, if we exclude the washing up it was quite all right, therefore I gave 5 stars anyway. Would definitely go back.

Traditional pub with a brewery attached. What more can you ask for?

Absolutely Dreadful! Can't remember the last time all four of us left more than half of our beers. Can't blame the brewery, they brew it there. One of our group said they should give up. A warm welcome, with samples but bitter was the only possible drink. We left most of it. The place looked clean and tidy. Music rather loud. Never again!

L shap bar.bar top 4 lengths of hardwood. Pool room and beer garden + brewery. 5 hand pulls 3 on. Friendly staff.

Great location, value for money, comfy bed, help yourself breakfast was a bonus, friendly hosts with a lively bar downstairs. Dont expect the ritz this is a great place to stay for a night out and you even get free parking at weekends.

Cooler Pub mit selbstgebrautem Bier. Zeitweilig ist der Brauer (Mark) sogar selbst hinter der Theke. Man hat immer den Eindruck, willkommen zu sein.
