Love love this place the food is always good, but the service is a bit slow which is understandable if you are trying to do a take away for your food depending on the day and time. I was waiting 30 minutes, nonetheless the best food in Moseley, biased - but I would love to see more diversity in employees? As some looked confused when I said warak 3nab and not vine leaves.

🌟 5 Stars Had a great experience at Damascena today! I was on a tight 20-minute lunch break and asked if my food could be prepared quickly — Enis went above and beyond to make it happen. Not only was the Lahm Bi Ajeen delicious, but the service was fast, friendly, and genuinely thoughtful. Enis was kind and attentive, and staff like him make a big difference. The outdoor seating area is peaceful and beautifully done. I’ll definitely be back! More team members like Enis, please! 🙌

Accidental find. Lovely food. Obviously popular; had to wait a few minutes to be seated and a while for our order but we were kept informed of timings and the food was authentic and delicious. We were served by Leila who was efficient, professional and helped with questions but left us peacefully eating until we needed her assistance again. Thank you.

Great spot with a variety of dishes to choose from. Wisal was very good in helping us pick , she even asked the chef to add a little lemon juice to the smoke salmon as I don’t like it completely raw. Will definitely be heading back there soon

I; and a friend met for drinks and a catch up. My friend had an orange zinger and I had a latte. We were served by Ennis who took our orders and returned with them. At all times he had a smile on his face e and was very pleasant. We asked for the bill which came quickly as did our change. A wonderful experience thank you Damascena and Ennis.

Beautiful restaurant with loads of options, everything was delicious and the setting is beautiful, places to sit inside and outside. Friends said the dates with their Turkish coffee were the best they'd ever had

This place is not worth it. I went for breakfast and wanted omelete with Avacado on the side they said they can not do it because it’s only what is available on the menu. I don’t remember any restaurant or cafe when I have asked for avocado and they have said we can’t serve you unless they don’t have it in stock. I will not be going here again. Also portions of omelet was so small.

Hagar was such a nice waitress, the drinks were good, the coffee was abit too strong but we asked for some adjustments which they happily helped accomdation for us.

Had coffee 3 times here. Consistent and excellent. Very intense flavour - on the stronger/bitter side for espresso/latte but very good nonetheless.

Been here several times, excellent service, highly quality food, and nice coffee and drinks. The beautiful decoration reminds you of middle eastern vibes. Enis and the Team are very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended. Thank you very much.

Spectacular service from Leila!

Came here for breakfast.Mixed feelings.Falafel was really nice and fresh but not too impressed with the zaatar cheese bread.It was a bit stale and dry.

We booked the side room for a networking event & meal, our room was set up well before our guest arrived, with menus available and tables set up, staff came in to take our food orders and went through menu which catered to meat, vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements. Staff came in thoughtout our session checking up on us and if we needed anything. Food was severed in good time and any additional requests was attended to. Will always recommend Damacena 👌

It was just okay. Been there 3 times. Food not that impressive, small portions and different from what we expected. Especially shakshuka which felt like eggs served on watery, tinned chopped tomatoes. I ate shakshuka in many different places in the UK and abroad and this was the first time it came in this form. I expressed my opinion and got the answer from the chef that is the way they serve it. That's fine, it's their right to make own versions and I don't criticise your choice. It's just not the taste I was expecting or liked. The exterior is lovely, nice atmosphere, good table service and attentive staff.

Food was really bad tasted like it came out of a can, and cold. Service was TERRIBLE they did not care to help us and we had to call for them. And the food is way to expensive

3rd attempt trying Damascena as I believe in 3rd chances, and this time they tickled my fancy. Lovely authentic vibe, especially for a date. The food is good and the drinks are nice and hot.

Been a regular at most of the Birmingham branches for years but love going to Moseley in particular for the great customer service, specifically Wisal for always going above and beyond and Adi for his creativity (adis_latteart on instagram) 🙌

I came here last night to meet a friend, who had never been here before. We were served by Mohammed who couldn't have been more helpful. We asked for his recommendations and they did not disappoint- ordering two delicious platters. He was so knowledgeable, and they were so delicious. We also were served by a lovely lady called Wisal, who was so helpful and friendly. To our horror, as we're chatting away, we asked them what time they closed- they told us 9pm- at 9.15pm....but not to worry and to take our time. Just a lovely atmosphere in there, we were very impressed. It was also great value for money. One of the best places to eat in Birmingham- you can see why it has such a great reputation.

Decent place, especially love their Knafe, they can often be short staffed and sometimes not have some desserts on the menu.

Wisal served us and was very kind and helpful, she recommended us to adjust the number of flatbreads because I was being greedy and over ordered!

Today Leila and Marina served us they were both was so helpful and provided excellent service

Damascena is a wonderful café serving Middle Eastern specialities. We shared falafels, flat breads, fattoush, mushroom kibbeh, humous, baba ghannouj and fatayer between us, and it was all delicious and so beautifully presented. The drinks are wonderful and there's an amazing cake counter. The food is excellent value and the service is friendly and efficient. Couldn't recommend it more highly.

Would just like to share my love for Damascena in Moseley. I have always had great food and amazing customer service by the kind and welcoming staff. I am really enjoying the new additions to the menu, very delicious and well presented.

This is an amazing restaurant with all those delicious dishes and drinks. I was fortunate to have the Ramadan menu for £20, and it included 7 dishes and drinks—it was too much! It definitely needed to be shared. So much excellent, delicious food for such a reasonable price was fantastic, but also, the service was equally fantastic!

The staff were nice, especially Wisal, she was very kind and attentive. Food was as good as ever. Great experience

I came here with my husband and we are usually regulars however we were very very disappointed with the food and the service. We usually order the lamb arabiya which the meat was unfortunarely rock solid and my husband had to remove from his mouth into a tissue as it was not edible after experiencing this again with his second bit of arabiya and also the same with my food we complained. We had given back the entire plate of food x2 and were told that the food was half finished in one of the plates however she failed to see half of this was spat out in the same dish due to it being rock solid and not edible. We were told there was nothing they could do about this as we “did not enjoy it” however it was more because of the fact it was inedible and as a result we were forced to leave after paying for our food. We have been coming here for years and live in the Moseley area however it is safe to say we will not be coming here again and would not recommend.

I had a fantastic experience at Damascena Coffee House. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. Have frequently been served drinks by Leyla. She is extremely pleasant and polite. And I might add has an inquisitive mind with regards to current world affairs.

Edit: £5 voucher offered to us as a gesture of good will. I feel really ripped off. I wanted to love this place but it’s really diminished its rave reviews and expectations. We arrived and it took half an hour to even be asked if we wanted a table, we had to ask as we waited by the sign, I understand it was the lunch rush so I wasn’t too bothered but they weren’t actively helping people out. We waited 45 mins to be even asked if we’d like anything to drink, which wasn’t on their accord, we had to end up calling over loudly for someone to serve us (they added a £6 service charge at the end and we had to ask for service, even for the plates to be cleared and ask for the bill three times.) It was slow service and they got a few pieces of our order wrong, after being there for 2 hours 15 mins we decided to get things on takeout as it had been long enough, ordering a 12 piece baklava which she repeated to us to confirm it was 12 and charged us for said amount. When we got home and there were only 6 pieces in the box, we were really upset as our bank charge was for 12. This meant quite a few of us went without and we didn’t even get what we payed for. The food was alright but after the overcharging for goods we didn’t recieve fully and a lack of pro active service, I would not return.

I came yesterday with my family for eid and we were served by the amazing leila, she helped up pick food to share and also made sure that the food didn’t contain gluten as my sister is allergic to it. She was truly amazing and made our experience enjoyable will definitely be coming again!!

Came in today and was served by Leila, she was very friendly and gave us great service, they have a garden which also created a wonderful atmosphere. Earned themselves a new regular!

We always visit this restaurant, especially for their Arabic Coffee and Biscoff cheesecake, both are sublime, never been disappointed. We’ve been served by the lovely Wisal a few times, she always remembers our order and provides impeccable customer service! This place is highly recommended! 😋☕️🍰

It’s okay, a little tired but okay.

been going here for many many years, absolutely love it. atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. i will say the portions have gotten a bit smaller in the last year or so, but we’re in a cost of living crisis i can’t blame them. the only thing i’ve ever disliked on the menu is the falafel - it’s very rose heavy but that’s personal preference. sometimes the service can be a little slow and the tables can be a bit sticky but nothing bad enough to ever stop me from going. it’s a staple of birmingham and moseley!

Lovely little place. The only real issue we had was that the price font on the Ramadan menu made it look like the price was £20.60pp, but in reality was £26.50pp (see pic and please remember printed small on the menu), felt like a bit of a con later when we checked but otherwise okay. Would likely have been another star if this hadn't occurred.

Amazing place with awesome stuff! The coffee is delicious and so is the lentil soup. And the staff is one of a kind!

Had a great iftari. Food was delicious and served with a smile by Ferdi. The new iftari menu has a good selection of mouthwatering mains with great starters to break your fast with. The tea and khunafa was the cherry on too. Great food and ambience.

I was really excited to visit here following a recommendation from my wife and her mother, and I really was not disappointed. On arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming and we were quickly seated at a table, and provided with menus for food and drinks. The menu is quite varied and everything sounded so nice, I struggled to decide as it's not a type of cuisine I'm familiar with, but I made some choices based on the clear descriptions. Drinks were served quickly, and we had to wait a little while for food (this is clearly stated on the menu). When the food arrived, it was well presented in a combination of bowls and square wooden trays and looked very appetising. Everything I ordered was lovely, and everything I tasted from the rest of the party's dishes was equally good. I particularly enjoyed the lamb soup (I forget the menu name) but I had such a depth of flavour, it made me really happy. Desserts were chosen from a cabinet near the front of the store, and we're very enjoyable, again in line with the cuisine a little different from every day fare elsewhere. Particular mention to Lerla and Ferdi who provided excellent service the whole time we were there. Would I visit again, yes, most definitely, perhaps brunch next time as the breakfast menu looks exciting.

On 20th of Feb, I visited your branches with the intention of purchasing drinks with my friends. Before ordering, I politely inquired whether I would be able to pray on the premises, as I had seen multiple reviews mentioning that customers were previously accommodated for prayer. However, the staff member I spoke to declined my request. As a result, I chose not to proceed with my order and left the establishment. As a Muslim-owned business, I expected a more understanding and accommodating approach, especially towards fellow Muslim customers. It was disheartening to experience what felt like a disregard for such an important aspect of our faith. Given Damascena's reputation and the reviews I had seen, this incident was unexpected and disappointing. I would appreciate clarification on your policy regarding prayer and whether this was an isolated incident or a change in practice. I hope that in the future, greater consideration can be given to customers who simply wish to fulfill their religious obligations.

Such good value for delicious food. Have eaten here a few times over the years and really feel the quality has improved. Soups (Lentil and Harira) are really good, as are the hummus and Baba gannoush dips. And a wide selection of drinks too - I particularly like the Turkish samovar tea.

Food delicious Service fine but very busy The atmosphere was not great as having work done so we had to sit around the back which was cool/cold.

Damas cena provides a warm atmosphere which is also continued in their staff. I had a member of their staff Sedra serving my table and her service was excellent as she always smiled and showed her manners. On top of that the food is always served fairly quick and is very tasty.

Was ok. I found it to be highly rated than what it was. Had lemon chicken, but it was spicy with no lemon taste. Coffee is not the best. Reviews left me wanting to try the place. It's not bad, but it's not great.

I love Damascena but was very disappointed on this occasion, we sat in the outside annexe area and were forgotten about. I had to go and find a waitress to take our order. It was cold in there, and no one cleaned our table before seating us. I will be thinking twice before going there again, apart from this the food was lovely as always.

I didn't eat there that day, but the coffee was good.I have enjoyed their food on the oast especially the lamb kofta.

Sara was lovely, arrived close to kitchen closing time but the staff accommodated us well.

One of the better Damascena locations, a friendly and clean environment and the food was hot and tasty. Service was poor as they were short staffed and one server for all the tables. The food delivery was slower than expected. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Vegan options available.

A friend took me there for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with everything…. No other comment as Nothing was wrong …. Lovely staff and great hospitality Going again next week

I ate the Damascene chicken shawarma special, which was absolutely delicious. I wish I had taken photos. For dessert, I had kunafa, which was made perfectly. I can say it reminded me of the one I had in Turkey at Hafiz Mustafa.

We have been coming here for years and it's always been excellent. The food is really good and the flavours are really authentic. Atmosphere is really chill and it's so comfortable. We came for dinner this evening with my parents and they loved it too. Thank you to Wisal for wonderful service!
