Wanted so badly to love this place but it was a total letdown. My friend booked the back room at Gunmaker’s for his 25th birthday and they were the most passive aggressive, ungracious hosts I’ve ever experienced. Just unfriendly, cold energy from the moment we walked in and a total apathy for their patrons. Tacos were mediocre and guacomole was more tomato than avocado. Made it abundantly clear that they didn’t want us there by 10 even though the place didnt close until 11. Take your business somewhere it’ll be appreciated.

We hired the venue out for my 30th birthday - it was absolutely perfect, Marissa and the team could not have been more accommodating of anything we asked for. The food and cocktails were amazing and was commented on by all the guests. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to go for dinner/drinks or as we did for private hire on a weekend.

I made the right decision to spend my birthday at Tigre Tacos at the Gunmakers. We had a great time. The food was exactly what I was looking for, genuine, unpretentious, delicious Mexican Pacific-style food. As this was a last-minute plan we were unable to book a table earlier and so we had a limited time to order food before the kitchen closed. Nonetheless, the staff made their best to cater and deliver our food and drinks orders on time. Everyone had a good time and I really enjoyed spending my birthday evening there. As a Mexican myself, I can fully recommend this place!

If you just want a pint at the bar, forget it. They will try to corral you to a table and then when you try and pay will try and sneak a 25% service charge on top without telling you (even when you've tried to go to the bar to get the drinks yourself, and even when you have to wait 15minutes for your drinks).

I've had a couple of awful visits to places really so what a pleasant surprise to arrive and be greeted by some of the most attentive staff I've experienced in a long time! Couldn't do enough to accommodate and make us feel welcome. Checked in regularly, so that we always had what we needed. Lovely venue, cool covered garden out back, perfect for a couple of drinks (highly recommend the spiced margaritas) and some tacos (Taco Tuesdays is a good time to go!) Can't wait to return!

Now that's a cocktail pub to go back to! you will find great vibes, good music and service there so we are defo going back for the grilled octopus next time!

I've seen this place in many guises over the years and this is the best yet - by a mile! Amazing cocktail list by the lovely bar manager (Arianne I think), based mainly on tequila and mezcal + loads of lovely beers. But the food is the star of the show - best tacos I've had in this country I think.. all pescatarian which suits me perfectly. I tried the Baja, the Camarones and a vegan one that I can't remember the name of, but all delicious and I'll be back loads

Used to frequent a lot back in the noughties. It was a classic old spit and sawdust pub that screamed character and history. Now it is has a generic cocktail bar atmosphere. Not sure I've ever seen a more disappointing refurb which may well have been in place for years. There is basically no character left in this place and no real reason to visit it any more. The staff were friendly, mulled wine was good and the pizza was ok but it is a non-entity of a place now and plenty of other more interesting places to drink round the area. Very sad.

If Dulux ran a pub this would be it. A bland shade of upper middle class malaise set in the heart of dreary Clerkenwell. If you're the sort of chap who wears tailored shorts and flamingo-pink polo-shirts then this is for you. If you like to bray loudly about all the really awesome places you've bummed around in during your parent-financed gap-year then get yourself down here pronto. I often go here for lunch with a work colleague. It is a little unprepossessing from the outside, but hides a quaint wooden space with room for only a couple or so tables in a room behind, with further tables available up a rickety staircase upstairs. There are never more than eight or nine items chalked up on a blackboard including starters and mains, many of which are staples appearing from one week to the next. I never miss going here at least 2-3 times every time I am in London and Jeff Bell, the proprietor is a real craft beer fan who rotates at least one tap almost every day and makes this Yank feel right at home. The food menu is a bunch of daily specials, written on a chalk board, and everything is tasty, good quality gastro-pub fare at reasonable prices. I've visited this pub several times just for a drink with friends, but had a meal there for the first time at the beginning of September. We didn't book (just two of us), but were served quickly once we'd decided what to have from the chalkboard menu. My vegetarian pasta was a good-sized serving with really tasty tomato and goats cheese sauce, with aubergine and other veg. My friend's Gumbo was also declared delicious. Simple but excellent fare, and good value. The real ales here are also kept in very good condition and represent a good range, mostly of London breweries, but not all. Just a shame that, like so many other pubs in and on the edges of the City, it's not open at weekends.

A very welcome lunch stop. We were thoroughly enjoying a walk in the Olympic Park, but feeling peckish. OK it was lunchtime, but I fancied the breakfast in a box. Which was warmed up for me. Back home (150 miles to the north), it would not have rated very highly. But in London I wanted something not vegetarian, and it rang my bell. There was the bacon, tasty sausage, beans, tomatoes, something potatoey, what was once egg and some green stuff (?) But it was warm enough, tasty, filling, and actually I quite enjoyed it. As, and when, we return for another walk I would probably choose it again. Incidentally the staff we friendly and helpful. The place was clean and tidy.
