Arriving for a 7pm reservation made months prior, we were told the kitchen closed at 7:30. So our relaxing dinner turned into a foot race. Wait staff was surly and pissy until they came to clear plates. After being customers since 1978, we will no longer recommend or patronize

I went here with a colleague on his recomendation. And my, was I surprised and very pleasanly so. You know when the food is so good that you almost want to lick the plate and each mouthful you take is just pure taste sensation - well this was it! I will definitely go again - tucked away in a Mayfair Mews - a fantastic find and HIGHLY recomended. The meat was AMAZING but I have to mention the Garlick Sweetcorn and Gruyere Spinach was the perfect accompaniment for the meat!!!!

It was fantastic service. Had the porterhouse. Amazing desert wine. Perfect Chianti Classico. Every aspect was perfection. Premmy was our waiter and he exemplified a classic, humorous, and attentive approach. One of the best steakhouse experiences I’ve had.

My wife and I have been to The Guinea twice now. First in September when we were looking for a good steakhouse. The Guinea came through with flying colors. There is a warm clubby atmosphere and service was prompt, professional with just that nice hint of friendliness. We were served the most perfectly cooked chateau briande I have ever had. The second time was when we came back to London in January, we were there for Sunday Roast. It was our first and it lived up to what we thought Sunday Roast should be at a very affordable price. Good wine list also.

The STEAK AND MUSHROOM PIE WITH THE BEST WE’VE HAD IN LONDON WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE CRISPS WITH BEEF FLAVORING. THE DECOR IS VERY COZY AND WARM LIKE A SLIGHTLY UPSCALE PUB OR BISTRO A VERY GOOD MEAL.

Gastro Pub – On a side street, a doorman greets you to a charming gastropub. Its almost hidden location provides “charm” while the menu is an excellent choice for people who like red meat. We had oysters and Cesar salad for starters. Mains: Rib Steak & Lamb – portions were generous and excellent flavor. I had a side of Black Pudding (not for everyone), and my wife had gruyere cream spinach. Dessert: Christmas pudding with a glass of sherry. Excellent service, very good food, and fair prices.

This was my second time - I wholeheartedly enjoyed the food as I did the first time, that part is consistently great! However, the service was much less friendly this time and we waited a really long time for our food (about an hour). Having said that, it’s still a great place and I will continue to recommend it.

Really disappointed! I was really looking forward to eat here and the food was pretty good but nobody came to check on the food and when asked to take away the remaining of the food was told that they would check if they had any boxes left but nobody came back to let us know when I actually saw the table next to us getting take away boxes. After paying £140 I would expect a better service... Not sure if it was worth the price

All 3 types of bread were great, mashed potato and cauliflower cheese were good as well, chips were bit disappointing, not crunchy at all, oyster pie was flavoursome just too salty, fillet cooked to perfection. The sticky toffee pudding was too sweet, coffee wasn’t very nice. All potions sizes were on the small side, service was OK depends on who you being allocated, one of the elder male waiter was very nice but the other one looked very unhappy, seating was too close to each other which wasn’t very comfortable. I’d say Rules was overall a better choice than here, if you’d like to have good steak and bread come here but for anything else, go there.

The food and service were great. However, our booking was postponed. That's why we hardly had time for dessert. This should be avoided in upscale restaurants.

We went here for a family meal and the food was delicious, service was great too. We had beef guinness and oyster pie which was so yummy, along with the beef wellington. The scallops for the starter was amazing too. The place had a really nice charm to it and was perfect.

Lovely Christmas Lunch!! Everyone was so friendly, service was outstanding and food was fantastic. Very generous portions, I couldn’t finish my meal and I definitely tried it was so delicious.

The atmosphere is inviting, with a cozy seating area and a welcoming ambiance that makes you feel at home. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. However, the prices are quite high—two beers and one mulled wine came to £22, which was a bit steep. It’s definitely something to keep in mind. Despite this, the quality and service make it a worthwhile visit. I’d recommend it for a treat or a special occasion!

Had our annual boys Christmas lunch for 7 of us on Friday, December 20th. Had a few pints of Guinness in the main bar before sitting down for a late lunch. We shared a few pies as starters before eating what was the best piece of chateaubriand I think I have ever had. Will be thinking about it for a while! It’s an expensive meal but as a once a year thing it is something I look forward to all year.

Great Food, Service and atmosphere, well worth the price for a lunch in London

Food was below average, lacked flavour and felt ill from it the next day. Service was poor, had to wait a while for drinks and food and the staff were rude. Do not understand the hype of this venue and wouldn’t go back.

This was the number one place my husband wanted to try in London. We’re here on Christmas vacation from Canada. Very disappointing. Appetizers were ok. Main courses were awful.. our bill was over 200 GBP. I honestly can’t believe the reviews are that good.

Amazing from start to finish. Went for a boys Christmas lunch and it couldn’t have been more festive; it was like something out of a movie. Food was beyond excellent. Attentive service. Will be back.

First time here and really enjoyed the evening. A lively pub at the front gives way to a traditional English restaurant with a relaxed, friendly, but super efficient vibe. The staff took time and care to explain the various cuts of steak, when it came the food was fabulous, steaks cooked to perfection (for us), really tasty sides, good portions and we left very full and very happy. If I've got one gripe it's that the wine list, while extensive, is way overpriced - in some cases by about 10x what the retail on the same bottle would be. I know they serve it to you, they have to pay wages and make a profit etc. but I cut back on my usual choices because of it. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone who wants a decent steak dinner in a lovely setting with great service.

Nice lunch in the restaurant. The prawn & crayfish starter was very average but the steak & kidney pie was delicious. Not too pleased that we were charged over £30 for 2 G&Ts ( doubles served but not requested) and we should have done our research, as the wines generally start around £60 a bottle! However, it’s better value than Rules and a very nice atmosphere.

5 stars because every has been perfect! The service, the decorations, the position in the city and the food. We have tried the wellington beef and the steak and mashroom pie. They were delicious. The dessert was exceptional top (Christmas pudding and the cheesecake). Obviously it is not cheap but not excessively expensive. If you want to try a real english restaurant, The Guinea is definetly approved!!

I was there for lunch. They gave us a two hour slot and kicked us out unceremoniously when time was up. For this reason I will not go again

Very good food and atmosphere. Steaks could have done with a little more seasoning and the lamb chop was slightly undercooked from how it was ordered but all in all very good.

Superb British food. Wine is expensive, with not many reasonably priced options - but there are a few. For a cosy dinner, unashamedly British, Guinea Grill is a classic.

The steak and kidney pie was a major disappointment. The pie only has a top on it (no base) and the meat was limited with very little sauce or texture of any kind, very bland and not worth the price. The French onion soup was terrible.

Our annual old farts lunch was held, as always, at The Guinea and I’m delighted to advise that it exceeded our expectations. The Guinness was superb and everything else we ate and drank was top quality. Thank you. See you next December.

Great food. Really hearty, was a cold night and we had pies and it was just perfect. The staff were attentive but friendly. They made it a great evening. The front of house sat us down, even though we were very early. Just a really great place and excellent Guinness to top it off.

We had such an amazing time at the Guinea Grill! The food was absolutely delicious—a proper hearty roast with all the trimmings. Everything was super tasty and totally worth the price. Sure, it’s not cheap, but for London? Honestly, it’s a bargain considering how good the food is. The service was spot on—really friendly and attentive without being over the top. We kicked things off with the devilled kidneys (so good!) paired with wine, plus plenty of Guinness and soda bread to soak up that ridiculously tasty sauce. For mains, we shared the beef and pork roasts, which were both incredible, and because we’re greedy, we also got some cheesy spinach on the side. No regrets there—it was amazing! To wrap things up, we had the bread pudding, and wow, what a perfect finish. Honestly, everything was just brilliant. We’re already planning to come back for the pies, steaks, more sides, and desserts. Can’t wait!

For the kitchen to maintain this quality year after year after year, it makes me take notice, which I otherwise wouldn’t do because this isn’t my type of food. They are rendering it so well, however, that my recommendation comes easily and often. You don’t know me, but for what it’s worth, I very much stand by what this place can do. Don’t skip the humbly named sides.

This is a jewel.the guiness is superb. The three guys work like clock work under the direction of head barman. The venue has so much to offer. The drinks are premium price but the experience is exceptional.

Remains a great place to eat. Love the old school service, great Guinness and excellent porterhouse. The devilled kidneys are the highlight though!

We visited The Guinea Grill in Mayfair for my wife’s birthday after a recommendation from a friend, and we were not let down! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when it came to choosing the perfect bottle of wine to accompany our meal. While the pub is renowned for its pies, we decided to try the steak, and it did not disappoint—it was cooked to perfection. Yes, the space is a little cosy, but I think this adds to its charm and creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Being in central London, this is exactly the kind of vibe you’d expect. We’ll absolutely be returning to try one of their famous pies next time. Highly recommend this restaurant for great food, attentive service, and an authentic London experience!

I stopped by yesterday for a pint of the black stuff and ended up staying for four and a pie. In a cosy corner I sat, the Guinness here is an exceptional pint, poured and presented with care and with the delight of their simply exquisite steak and mushroom pie to soak it all up, I strolled away through Mayfair a very satisfied punter indeed. Until the next time...what a wonderful establishment.

A historic setting with an elegant wood-panelled interior. Many enticing dishes on offer for keen carnivores! A dietary requirement advised at the start was initially not well handled and some dishes brought had to be changed, and was ultimately resolved.

Delicious food, as always. The lamb cutlets were exceptional. Welsh rarebit, with truffle and honey paired with Pedro Ximénez is delightful. The Guinness is still one of the best in London and exceptional, if expensive, wines served by the glass. Atmosphere was generally good, but the restaurant is sectioned and we unfortunately had a boorish table close to us who appeared straight out of the 80s with their level of 'banter' to a young waitress. This is still one of the best restaurants in London, as confirmed by the constant turnover of tables.

An exceptional experience - food was impeccable and worth the price. Atmosphere was great though felt slightly cramped at a table for 2 and very close to the next table.

Was seated upstairs of the pub for lunch for a group of 6. Table was set up nicely. I ordered the rib steak on the bone for £45. Medium rare with peppercorn sauce. It was cooked well and it was delicious! Plenty of meat for me. Sides were great - especially the chips! Wasn't a fan of the creamed spinach - I think it has a herb or spice I'm not used to. Broccoli was also tasty. Would rate 5/5 if it wasn't so expensive 🤣

A very enjoyable lunch with the place having a lovely atmosphere and service. The roasts were very tasty, however, the food could have been served hotter. The vegetarian roast was basically a bowl of daphinwa potato then served with more potato on the side, why not try a nut roast.

My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Guinea. We both had the Caesar salad as our starter. The salad was excellent - and the croutons were amazing. We then both had the sirloin steak (off the bone) with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach - all of which were lovely. The recommended bottle of Corbec red wine was also very good. I last ate at the Guinea in the 1990’s - I will definitely be back much sooner next time.

I first went to the Guinea Grill about 20 years ago, and have been going back ever since. The service is lovely and polite, and the food is always top notch. I had the 6 oysters, prawn cocktail and scallops to start, the 500g sirloin (cooked to perfection) and pretty much all the sides they had on the menu. I was too full for dessert this time round. Fantastic job guys, I will keep coming back until I am old and frail, then you can prop me up at the bar ;-) See you in a couple of weeks again Alex

Fantastic proper old school English pub serving delicious, traditional English food. All staff warm and friendly. Could not have been happier. Highly recommended.

The best roast I have had in my life.

I have been here a few times and until last night the experience has been good. I was told there is no grills tonight....what's the name of the restaurant? We then waited an hour for our mains and when we complained we were told that the steaks are very big so they take a while! The staff were arrogant and rude. We had a side of black pudding that was so overdone you needed a pneumatic drill to cut into it. Terrible experience, a restaurant arrogantly relying on its reputation and not giving two hoots about the customer. I will not be going back.

Great pub, fantastic atmosphere and elite pub food.

Let’s start by saying the service was impeccable, attentive and friendly. The food was very good, we were very impressed with the taste and quality of all courses. I was slightly disappointed with my fillet steak which was medium rare, however the top and bottom had been slightly charcoaled and left it tough on the outside. Also side note the ice cream tasted like it had been allowed to defrost and refrozen as instead of a creamy texture it was crunchy with ice crystals. This was my third visit here and I always enjoy the atmosphere I recommend it.

Food is excellent. Atmosphere is excellent. Staff efficient but lack any engagement with customers. They should know that they are allowed to smile and look the customer in the eye.

Food is nice. Tables super close together. The waiter was lovely. However they took another drink order (second bottle), poured a glass then told us we had to leave in 15 mintues. It's not on - I won't be back. Shame.

Tucked in a small backstreet in Mayfair lies a gem of legendary proportions. Would give 10 stars if I could. Unfussy and excellent steaks in a charming old world setting. I cannot recommend it more. Had the best rib eye of my life and honestly the asparagus was the best I’ve had too. Everyone was so kind and service was of a time long gone. I showed up without a reservation and was truly taken care of. Do visit the restroom to get a better look at the place. So cool! I will be back soon. Cheers ⭐️

The Guinea Grill Pub offers an exceptional dining experience with delicious food and excellent service. Have dined here many times over the last 20 or so years. The Guinea changed hands a few years ago and staff seemed to get a bit of an attitude after that. It was all different and back to normal Guinea high standards this time. Lateral expansion which enabled a second ground floor dining room was very well done, the reprehensible tight, hot “snug” where they always wanted to shove me has been torn out. Food was superb, the waiter gracious and it was an altogether wonderful experience. Glad I decided to give it one more shot.

Five stars all the way. Loved the ambiance, the food and wine selection were impeccable. We had a relaxing two hour dinner, all three of us had the steak pie with a Chateauneuf du Pap and an amazing cocktail to start. We will keep coming back!
