It has very beautiful ambience for family and also friends, food is very tasty and for South Indians they will prepare spicy foods and they treat the customers very nicely. I can suggest it's a one of the best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh. Mr. Das is the owner and he is very chill person.

Just like to say thank you Guchhi India for a amazing service and making my sister’s birthday so special surprised us with special cake and fantastic service provided with excellent food it was just divine and beautiful specially butter chicken and garlic naan and lamb was just fabulous so tender we have enjoyed every min of our meal in the restaurant we were 7 of us dining and every single person have enjoyed the service and yummy food. Definitely recommend to visit if you are in Edinburgh.

Amazing lip smacking Indian food! Absolutely loved the curry, biryani and the gulab jamun. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance and a vibe. Friendly and hospitable staff. They provide very good catering services as well. For Indian’s , you’ll find home away from home ( in terms of food ). Highly recommended.

Wow, where to start… you will see a sign that reads kids eat free on a Tuesday. Bank this for later!! So on entry at 8pm there were 2 people eating and when we asked for a table the waitress looked surprised!! 1st warning sign. Then we sat and a chap came over for the order, turns out he was eating on the table occupied and was still eating while he asked for the order. After we ordered (2 adult mains and 1 child) he offered us 2 popadoms, we said yes. Also ordered some drinks, they arrived swiftly along with 6 popadoms and 6 condiments. The popadoms tasted like they were not fresh but ok. Our young son wanted a butter chicken and my wife and I ordered chicken tikka curries. After an hour we were still waiting for the food and when it can we were shocked to say the least, the butter chicken was a curry with a slab of butter dumped on top. The naan breads were literally dripping with butter, I mean dripping to the point they were soggy!! We were a little shocked and embarrassed at first. Then our son tries the butter chicken after I scooped the slab of butter off, it was hot, spicy hot and for anyone who knows a butter chicken this shouldn’t be the case. After a short while we realised no one would come and ask if everything was ok, standard in most average restaurants!! I decided I would go and find the staff, she was hiding behind a wall in a stock room on the phone, I asked her to swap the naan as it was not edible, she looked at me like I was an alien and went to replace it. Eventually it came back and was 100 times better. We finished and asked for the bill. Now, we eat out a lot and we simply couldn’t believe the bill!! £73 for 3 curries, ( one not touched due to the heat) but where was the kids eat free? That’s not the best bit, oh no…. They charged us £1 for the 6 condiments each and 6 popadoms we didn’t ask for!! That’s right £12 for what we were told were 2 popadoms!! In addition they charged us for 2 rice, we ordered 1. The waitress came over and I complained about the butter chicken, the naan breads and the condiment’s/popadoms issue, she went and got the manager and I explained we would not be paying for food that was not ordered or edible. Also when asked about the kids eat free he simply said no they don’t do it!!!! As you will see from the photo it’s advertised in the shop front!!! Eventually we paid £40 reluctantly as the food we did eat was poor, the replacement naan breads were nice and the drink also ok, although I ordered a bottle beer and they gave me a draft beer pint, almost forgot about that, I got charged the extra for that too!! All in all, the food was poor and the service worse. Avoid this so called “restaurant”. It’s shocking and you will feel like you have been mugged once you leave!!!

Food was quite good I have a great experience here they were a friendly staff and I order naan bread and 2 curry curry feels me like taste of india I recommend all peoples thanks

The quite and lovely restaurant near the city center which reminds you all the Indian memories along with songs, interior, staff behavior and all. The food was delicious and you wouldn't get better Indian food than this Guchhi. All credit goes to Das bhaiya. Highly recommend:)

Food was excellent really enjoyed myself with family. All the dish portion size was perfect. Delicious food service was brilliant.

I rarely leave a bad review but I can’t not in this case. We didn’t know when we arrived that the restaurant actually had another job catering elsewhere. We found this out at the end when we asked what happened. What it meant is that we waited 1.5 hours for our food!! When it arrived some of it was lukewarm, albeit tasty nonetheless. Other customers got their food before us even though they arrived after us (the power of complaining and speaking up). The atmosphere was further marred by another customer getting quite upset at their own long wait, leaving before their food arrived, which made the staff even more stressed. Not pleasant for anyone, including sad and hungry us. We didn’t get any discount at the end, just apologies. I won’t be coming back.

We ordered x250 samosas for an office event this Diwali. Those were mouth-watering and delicious. And the size of each one was really something meant for the value of the money paid. Got the best rate and the order was ready just before the event. An obvious recommendation for Indian food in Edinburgh!

Worst food… Ordered for team lunch… Reason we preferred is restaurant in City centre…. Delivered Briyani is not good and it is rotten…. We ordered for 50+ persons… They could have inform in case they don’t have kitchen space to prepare for huge crowd… We have chief guests and other guests… This rotten chicken Briyani made us to ashamed in front of guests….

Was thoroughly OK. Nothing special, naan bread tasted like it was made with only flour and water.

A very pathetic service. Owner told us that the restaurant is closed but we will serve you the food though it was it was more than an hour for closing. Than he gave us extra food that it will be not enough for you people just to increase his bill. Food was cold and seemed like it was leftovers. Same for the naan.

This is the best restaurant i have eaten the paneer tikka is fabulous and the service is phenomenal the biryani made me feel like I am eating in India and the restaurant was busy but the food came on time the ambience of the restaurant is very nice. If you want Indian food go to Guchhi.

Be careful before you eat anything that's served without asking the price ! We asked if we will be served mint chutney and we were probably served all the chutneys in the restaurant without informing or asking and then each one was charged separately on the bill including some onion chutney they make. And Gucchi sauce is something that came from nowhere on the table and in the bill. Then we were asked if we wanted Papad, on saying yes, we were served 4, assuming it to be one plate and were later charged for 4 while we just ordered one. I'd recommend ask, be blunt about asking about anything on your table , "what is chargeable and what is not!" Looking at the bill am surprised they didn't charge me for using the cutlery! Not too great in taste too.

I have ordered 3 lamb biriyani and 1 chicken biriyani. I can say the portion was good but it was too spicy. And the taste didn’t even match with biriyani. Total waste of money and very disappointed.

We have ordered four Lamb Biriyani and one chicken Biriyani just half hour before it was not good at all. It doesn’t taste anything. I don’t understand why people want to buy briyani. Just for rice and chicken.?🥲

My favourite Indian restaurant when visiting Edinburgh :) All the food is authentic, tasty and the naans are well made. Staff is nice. They had Bollywood music playing so I was transported back to India.

I don't like the food. Smelling pickle and you can tell easily that it is not fresh. Paneer tikka was burnt

I really like the way they prepare according to the customisation I ask for. I have ordered Chicken starters, samosa chat, poori with chana masala, vegetable biryani, mixed veg curry, mango lassi. Everything nailed it! I almost like all the items. Each item has its own flavor. I have tasted many more items from here they all are so good and cooked according to our taste. Love to visit many more times.

I choose my words carefully... Absolute Gash. Equal worst curry in 30 years. Ordered and within 10 minutes got a notification saying "Food on it's way", that's how much they care about their food. 10 minutes. Containers weren't even full, curry was a watery mess with little content and full of food colouring and no flavour. An absolute disgrace. £28 and i've had better microwave ready meals. Save your money. This place has been in business for approx 20 years but all their Just Eat reviews have been deleted prior to two weeks ago. I wonder why...

My husband and me were in town after attending Holyrood palace earlier; the food here was absolutely out of this world. Extremely tasty and fresh and the waitress couldn’t do enough for us. We had a sharing platter to start, garlic chilli chicken, rice, chips and garlic naan. A very pleasant evening and I would definitely recommend. Will definitely be back if in area again. Could eat it again now.. Thanks for a lovely evening…x

worst indian food. no taste at all. curry is just made of tomato paste. not cooked properly. portion size is too small.

The food served didn't seem freshly cooked. The poppadom smelled a bit like it has been fried days ago. The staff left the restaurant after serving food (probably to make deliveries). Overall an unpleasant experience.

I ordered a Jalfrezi. This had nuts in it. Jalfrezi should not have nuts. Gucchi are not following food hygiene regulations and are putting customers health at risk. Please advise kitchen staff of cross-contamination procedures and ensure everyone's training is up to date.

Went there with meerkat code. He said they don’t take it now. But it’s on meerkat app all the time. He was trying to cheat me. Rubbish

We went in to use the Meerkat meals deal. After we sat down, we were informed by the staff that they don’t do the deal, even though they are listed on the meerkat app. Terrible service.

3 separate times we ordered food to be delivered to our hotel including a telephone call from them to confirm order. Waited over an hour in reception but it never turned up. Even when we rang to ask where the food was they couldn't find our order. They don't seem to know what they are doing!

Orderd food said it was on its way waited over a hour called the restaurant with no reply shocking that they can take your order but can't deliver it won't be going back to this place

So many smells and flavours and textures that mix beautifully with each other; this is the best restaurant I've ever been to. The food is so fresh, and the service is so friendly. The maps on the tables are interesting, and the decorations are beautiful. I will definitely be coming back here until I've tried the whole menu, just spectacular!

Gucchi India is an authentic Indian restaurant in Edinburgh City center. It offers a wide variety of dishes and you can't go wrong with your order. We ordered both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes and were very happy with the food. The service is amazing, and the place has a very friendly vibe.
