One of the best vegan roasts I’ve had, the portion was generous with the portobello mushroom nicely flavoured with a great texture for a meat substitute. There was a little confusion over making this vegan but after clarifying the chef said it could be made with vegan gravy too which was up there with the best vegan gravy I’ve had - nice amount of jerk / spice flavours to it! Really amazing vegan roast option - would highly recommend.

Service here is really good, friendly staff and paying a corkage fee when they provide you with an ice bucket to keep your drinks cold is okay. Restaurant was heaving mid- week with a great atmosphere. However, what lets this place down is the food. My meal was bland, tasteless and an insult to Caribbean cooking. I ordered jerk chicken on the bone which arrived covered in some kind of slimy green sauce. Completely tasteless, not even salt had been added! I don’t look like it was fresh off a bbq but more likely had been cooked in an oven or even frozen / reheated. Inedible. The so-called ‘homeslaw’ resembled no homemade coleslaw ive even eaten and looked like it was supermarket basics. Just carrot and cabbage, no peppers, onion etc. £26 for that!! Wasn’t worth a fiver. Would never return

Oh my! The Jamaican Jerk Chicken platter is amazing! Come w an appetite! Try one of their freshly made juices - my husband had the green apple/ginger/lemon - so very refreshing - we’ll be back!

Such a shame they dont do the ribs the way they used to before. Tried the ribs platter but it was not as good as the old ribs they used to do in the small pot. That was one of it's kind.

I really enjoyed the chicken platter, the chicken was so flavourful and went perfectly well with everything served!

I should have checked the price of the menu before booking, but when we arrived I gulped at the price of the dishes ie a jerk chicken dish for 1 person was about £20ish. And cams of soft drinks are £3. When I'm paying for 6 people I had to order sensibly. We had bottles of tap water and I ordered two platters. My bill came to £96, which was a lot based on the food we ordered. The waiter kindly took off the service charge as he must have realised I was on a budget. The atmosphere at this eatery is brilliant but won't be a place I'll be coming back to with family. But it's ideal with friends where the bill will be split. Ps my wife and mum loved the dishes we ordered. And before I forget the menu isn't suited for kids.

For a person who didn't enjoy Jamaican in the past, this place changed my perception. The food was delicious! Definitely worth visiting and trying their food.

Island roast was 10/10 and the hospitality is unmatched as you feel at home. They were also very understanding when we asked for music to be a bit more quiet to accommodate to ASD needs in the group.

Fantastic service & food as always, Owner & staff have such a warm, friendly vibe about them. Would highly recommend, and you don’t have to wait a ages for your food also!

Guanabana offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, reminiscent of enjoying delicious food at home with friends. The generous portions will challenge even the heartiest of appetites, and the option to bring your own alcohol is a delightful perk. The staff are friendly and the environment is welcoming. I’ve already visited three times this month and plan to return before June ends. Highly recommended!

I added coleslaw, mac and cheese and extra plantain for sides (sharing between 3). The entire dinner was fantastic. The chicken had a nice kick and crispy skin. This went well with the sweet plantation. The only thing missing was dumplings. Would highly recommend and will visit again next time I'm in London.

Unreal spot - best Caribbean I’ve personally had. Drew for the jerk platter and every aspect was great, special mention to the stewed beef which was unreal. Service with a smile, spoke personally to a chef and he was so friendly and the atmosphere was great - everyone speaking to eachother across tables nice community feel to it. No wonder it’s described as the best jerk spot in London. Would recommend all day all night

Great experience - lovely, tasty and freshly prepared food. Good presentation and quick service - last minute booking and accommodated which was fantastic. Fresh juices were lovely. Attentive service *shout out to Thomas, thank you. Having been to Original Flavours in Brixton yesterday, this was a superior experience in terms of food quality, prices and venue aesthetics. Third time visiting and would return plus recommend.

Came here for a family dinner (first time) and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was amazing and the ambience was warm and joyous. Nothing beats dining at a local restaurant. It was such a lovely evening. The servers were so kind and attentive. Thank you to the all the staff. Definitely will be coming back again, and again.

We came here on a whim, and we are so glad we did. The restaurant has a really nice vibe to it, casual, laid back and cool. Great food and service. Lovely, lively atmosphere so don't go if you want a quiet romantic dinner. Tables too close together but it won't spoil your enjoyment. I'd definitely go back.

They don't serve alcohol but you can pick up some from the off license next door and bring it in the restaurant, that's great ! They take cash, unlike many youngsters places in London. The server from the south of France (that's classy) was super friendly and very professional in his service. Food was great and big portions !! Completely reminded me of back home (I'm creole) Jah Bless !!

Lovely restaurant for Sunday dinner. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was gorgeous. Portions were huge and we had to take lots away with us. Very worth a visit.

50 minute wait for food and no kids menu is not great. And my kids didn't like the food they were given. With a heavy bill at the end I was less than impressed.

First time trying Caribbean food and it was SO good!!! We got the boneless and the half jerk chicken with the spicy sauce and it was absolutely delicious. Perfect level of heat and so flavoursome. The dishes were very big!! Good value for money. The corn ribs were so good we wanted to eat a hundred more lol and the cheese empanada was the same. Highly recommend!

We had no booking so we did have to wait half an hour outside while having a beer. It was worth it, a lot! I had the jerk chicken Alfredo and I was feeling as if I could go to Mars after it. My friends have eaten the bbq chicken, it was also fantastic. The price is not cheap, but it matches with quality.

The food is excellent. The flavours are bold, and the presentation is top-notch. Overall, dining here is a truly enjoyable experience.

Ambience was great. We came on a Saturday evening for iftar and it was busy, as expected. We made a booking about a week before which is what I’d advise. Service was good although we felt really rushed. Food came just before iftar and they provided us dates and water to break our fast which was nice. We got the beef roast which was nice but didn’t taste like jerk and the portion was beef was quite small. We also got the mac n cheese which was more like a pasta bake- it was good but not mac m cheese. Cactus chips were fantastic as were the calamari. Our total bill was around £90 which is on the pricey side for what we got.

Well where do I start.... We walked in all seemed well, got seated and went downhill from there very fast. The menus were filthy and sticky plus a jug of water that was sitting on the table from god knows when. It took 45 minutes for us to get a waiter to our table (bear in mind we had to actually get their attention and call them over) once he walked away with our drink and food order he proceeded to have a full conversation with his colleague. We sit and wait for a further half an hour for our food to arrive that's fine (minus cutlery) my friend had to get up after 10 mins to get the waiters to bring cutlery. Now my food was OK not amazing but decent enough, the other 2 dishes WELL…. steak onglet floored me, she was asked how she would like her steak she responded 'medium rare' what arrived was still slightly mooing it was that rare, got the waiters attention 10 mins later when asked to take it back and replace with medium he proceeded to try and school 3 grown women on how onglet steak is cooked as though we didn't know. He bought back charred remains again with attitude asked if this was too her liking she said no sorry. He relayed a message from his manager that they will offer her a free steak which she also declined because by this point service had gone out of the window. He informed us that it would be removed from the bill along with the rest of her order, whilst all of this is happening 1 hour and 15 mins had gone by with no drink arriving at our table (astonished) finally 2 of the drinks arrive when the food is all but gone. We got a guy cleaning tables and asked for the bill… THE BILL arrives with nothing taken off and amazingly they actually added £2 onto the steak that was £12 is now £14 and the 2 drinks that were £4.90 each are £5 hilarious called the waiter explained these items need to be removed and how exactly are you added money on?? He came back again with the bill amended but still incorrect so we literally calculated it ourselves paid the exact amount along with the service charge ill add and left…..my advice is JUST DO NOT GO...AWFUL SERVICE AND FOOD...

Over priced and overrated…Jerk Chicken was good, however the fish was a let down, as it lacked flavour or extra spice when asked. Mac and cheese wasn’t authentic more like a pasta bake as they didn’t use macaroni pasta… Service was too intense, they lacked knowledge on the menu and didn’t appreciate getting asked to leave straight after we finished for a walk in, as we were still within our reservation time limit. Overall it’s an average restaurant, without authenticity, that is stupidly over priced for what you get.

Such a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a cosy dinner or Iftar occasion this Ramadan! The staff were the loveliest, and so accommodating to our needs around breaking our fast - from supplying dates and water, a prompt dinner service as well a space to pray. The Ramadan Roast has such a wonderful blend of flavour, you can really taste the heart and soul that goes into the food here - the plantain is especially done beautifully. Cannot wait to come back to try more of the menu, would highly recommend for Iftar or otherwise!

Food is good but prices have gone too high now.

Went for the Ramadan Roast - found the fact they had a special menu super nice (also obviously halal), they also donate £2 from the meal to a good cause 🍉, there was 6 of us - so we each got to try the chicken vs beef roast, portions were big - chicken was elite, if ur getting the beef don't get it well done. Mac and cheeeeese was also a table fav - got two to share between us all. They had praying facilities so after u break ur fast u can pray. Also a huge thank you to Jasmin who served us that day, super happy and kind.

I enjoyed our meal at Guanabana. It’s quite rare to find a place that you can experience authentic Caribbean food in traditional restaurant setting. They did it well!

The food was 11/10! The atmosphere was next to none and very family oriented, and the staff are busy but friendly. I will be back to try the rest of the menu! Unfinished business lol

I had my birthday dinner at Guanabana’s recently and for the most part, it was an enjoyable experience. The food was lovely and the staff were polite and helpful. My only feedback is in regard to the “private dining”. There really isn’t anything private about it and to prevent confusion, it would better if it was termed as “group dining”. The process to arrange it was smooth and the pricing for the set menu was cost-efficient though, so that is commendablez

Great place to come and eat. 2nd time in two weeks. The starters were great. The mains were even better. The new chilli sauce is amazing. Service has been on point both times we visited. Will be coming back again and also recommending to family and friends. The

Visited yesterday - poor staff attitude, poor service and horrible food. Ordered steaks and a number of sides: Fries were served sitting in an oil bath, bland mac & cheese made with penne pasta reminded me of something served on a struggling NHS ward. The menu said 'creamy mash potato' yet we were served crushed potatoes at best with not even a hint of cream or butter... or salt & pepper for that matter. Food standards are incredibly poor. We were sat for 20mins with our mains still waiting for them to bring the sides.. won't be visiting again. Leave the Caribbean food to those who know best!

Every time I eat here, there’s just people on their laptops. I feel intimidated to walk in, I could see someone rolling a joint inside, not welcoming.

Been coming for years and the food is out of this world. However I recently booked for 22 people for my birthday. The service wasn’t bad but some people didn’t get their food on time. I felt like we were rushed and the manager made us pay on one card even though there were 22 of us which was stressful so everyone had to send me the money first then I paid. Things like this slightly ruin the experience but kudos to the chefs because the food is second to none!

Decided to go there on New Year’s Eve, they had raised their already ridiculous prices. After spending £30 on 1 meal - you’d think you could atleast change a side? Nope. They don’t care about the customer, the food is basic and unauthentic and the staff are rude. What a waste of time and money. Will not be visiting again

Went for the Christmas set menu. Had the jerk chicken roast - the food was average, not bad but not particularly good. The Yorkshire pudding was quite dry and roast potatoes not very crispy. Had the calamari as a starter which was also average. Have heard their other menu is much better so will try again!

I ordered a starter and main but after 2 hours of waiting for my main I had to leave. I asked the waiters to box up my main for me to take away. I paid in full, waited, asked again but nothing happened. I eventually had to go so I asked for the meal to be given to my friend who would pass it on to me. My friend tried to ask a final time at the end of the night but they had completely ignored my order. I emailed the restaurant to request a refund just for the main but they ignored this too. So I ended up paying £29 for just a starter. I won't be going back

Halal Jamaican food? You don’t say!! 🤣🧐. I got oxtails with extra gravelly pon da rice! Food was great and so was the service.

We had such a wonderful experience. We were treated with such warmth and kindness by both Jasmin and Raya (by far the best service in the city) Our food was exceptional, every bite was filled with flavour, easily the best food I’ve had in a while. Please pass our compliments to the chef, he’s making Gambia proud !! We will definitely be back :)

Went for my best friends birthday and atmosphere was delightful! Service was very lovely and had multiple people checking up on us for our food, the servings were very huge and worth the money spent. My friend and I were chatting away and overstayed after closing but the staff were very nice about it (writing this to apologise bc we genuinely didn’t see the time go by so sorry again you were probably fuming at us but didn’t show it!!) big props to the chefs, halal food also a big plus for inclusivity ❤️

I was really disappointed with the quality of food. I came here for the Sunday roast and the food did not live up to the expectations. I ordered the jerk beef option, which was really disappointing, it was certainly not jerk beef, it just tasted burnt from being on the grill. Not the Caribbean roast I expected, it just lacked flavour, the beef had no seasoning just the burnt taste and was really over powering. I spent just over £90 for me and my daughter for a meal I did not enjoy - looking back I should have complained as it was not up to scratch. I will do not recommend nor will I be returning.

This was the second time of going to Guanabana. We loved it the first time so decided to go again for our Christmas roast dinner with even more friends. We hoped it wasn't a one off and Guanabana did NOT disappoint. From starter, main to desert it was all on point. The first time we went we thanked Chef Stefan and Chef Nicholas person and was delighted to see them still there. We've recommended it to friends and family and will most definitely be there again in 2024. I gave 4 instead of 5 as booking was sometimes challenging to get updates. Whilst in the restaurant all of the staff were very friendly especially Nathalie and thanks to Jasmine for your professionalism. See you in 2024

Prices are outrageous for the quality of food. Much better restaurants available for half the price. Skip this.

A regular customer as their food is quite nice, but left very disappointed after turning up 90 minutes before closing and still turned away as they were too busy to serve two people. The store was half empty so it made no sense why it would take over an hour to serve us. Unacceptable, don't know if I'll be visiting again. Reply to owner: We visited on the 26th of November.

Had a roast jerk beef and pumpkin soup as part of a Christmas meal there. The soup was great. The roast was really good but quite a surprise as was like a Sunday roast but with a very hot spice to it. Really good. Downside was it was quite pricey at £40. And to take in a beer was £3 a bottle which put me off so had one of their own soft drinks. All alcohol is bring your own. However the service was absolutely superb and they are a lovely friendly team. I will return to try the rest of the menu

The restaurant was packed which made the atmosphere amazing, even though it was busy we were seen to pretty quickly. Waiting staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu which was great. Drinks and starters came quickly, slight delay with the mains but was ok given how busy it was. The food itself was really tasty, loved the flavours! All in all a great experience recommend visiting.

I went to Guanabana for the first time yesterday and it was SO good and such a bonus that it’s halal. Me and my friend had the Sunday roast along with a side of mac n cheese. The head chef Stefan even came over to say hello which was lovely. It was clear that he was passionate about the menu and this definitely shows in the flavours!

Visited on a Friday night with friends. Atmosphere was decent, not too busy but a nice vibe throughout. Staff were good, attentive and on hand. The food itself was brilliant, really delicious. We have the jerk chicken platter and it was fantastic, big portion but so delicious. Everything on the plate was great. On a very souring note, the corkage they charge is pure robbery. We brought in 2 beers each and we're charged £3 on top of each bottle. They didn't offer to even open the bottle. So for every drink they added £3 to our bill for no reason other than "corkage". Felt very greedy and just disappointing. I would understand if it was £3 and then you can have as many beers as you want but to charge for every drink, is really poor form. Competitors who use BYOB usually charge £1 per drink and that's acceptable, £3 is robbing money from people. Really took from the experience which otherwise would have been nearly perfect.

Food is average at best, definitely not authentic Caribbean, more a mish mash of courses with some distinctly non-Caribbean dishes and flavours. Service was good but not authentic Caribbean cuisine.

They removed all burgers from menu, kept only one chicken. The price are too expensive regarding the food quality/quantity. The chips home made quantity is smaller than it used to be. They charge 12.5% service. Paid 67 fot 3 burgers with 4 chips home made and 3 coke. After couple of years visiting this restaurant, I will never come back.

Went here for team dinner - the food was hit and miss. The Mac and cheese was really basic, no seasoning at all. I loved the jerk chicken, was absolutely beautiful. The rice was okay - again, needed a little more seasoning. I didn’t enjoy the salad, was really soggy. I also found it a little expensive for what it was .

Home cooked delicious food! Ordered the jerk chicken platter and it was so good! Tasty and a huge portion for £39. Service was great, the waiter was excellent, friendly and attentive. Would definitely return again. Oh and the music was a vibe!

First off the food was absolutely delicious and great that it was halal too. The waiters were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. It isn't too busy on weekdays I believe so nice to visit then. The music was a tad too loud but that is just my preference. Overall great place!

My first visit to Guanabana after spotting the roast on a friends IG story. I had the Island roast with jerk chicken, along with a mango mojito mocktail. Food was nice, well seasoned and not overwhelmingly spicy. Would definitely go back as I’d love to try the other dishes on the menu. Kinda regret not trying the Mac and cheese after seeing other diners enjoy!

Genuine and authentic food, really enjoyed it

This is by far the best Afro /Caribbean restaurant in London. We came as a group of nine and the staff were so catering to all our specific needs. The interior and detail of everything in this fine establishment is astonishing. Now let me say by saying that there is not one thing on the menu that isn’t 10/10. I had the luck chance in trying the jerk platter , chicken Alfredo, oxtail and the Caesar.I have never tasted such flavoursome and mouthwatering food like this from a restaurant in a long time. The head Chef (Stefan) was a delight and I greeted myself and my entire family.His hands are truly blessed.He has a true talent in the kitchen and made our experience ten times better. THIS IS A MUST VISIT.I will definitely be back to try the roast dinner on a Sunday!
