Grubbs Diner in Middlesbrough

Visit often with people who I work with. They usually get a meal which always looks appetising. Premises need a good refurbishment as looking tatty at the moment. It’s always busy which indicates it must be doing something right!

Bacon sandwich was dreadful and customer service was absolutely awful. The assistant never spoke when we ordered or when she brought our food. Will never goagain

I know prices have gone up but not this much. Overpriced rubbish in a scruffy cold place. Very empty and has gone downhill and won't be going there again

Visited yesterday and haven't stopped throwing up since. Should've known from the upstairs dining that it wasn't a good idea to eat here. Never again.

Not a very relaxing atmosphere. Needs more food choices to choose from. Needs doing up quite a bit. The place looks quite bland and lifeless.

Amazing food breakfast are top notch. Only thing that should be thought about in regards of the owners and improvements is, Start accepting orders via JustEat, Ubereats Or deliveroo.

Went today with my husband and young son , my husband had the full breakfast the big one , I had omelette chips and beans and my little lad had sausage, chips and peas . Lovely friendly atmosphere food quality. Been a few times will be back again!🤗

We absolutely love Grubbs, they do the nicest breakfasts, great portion sizes and value for money. The staff are always super friendly. Keep up the great work.

This place never ever fails, by far the best breakfast around the area. Veggie breakfast was amazing perfect eggs every time. Can't wait to go back already.

No frills home cooked food if you're hungry, wouldn't go on a date for candlelit supper, but it is what it is. Excellent food and service, staff more than willing to adjust what you want within reason, can I have fried bread instead of toast? course you can,, garden instead of mushy, of course. I definately will go there again when visiting Middlesbro' nowhere else, why should I?

Foods always lovelly, busy but service &waiting time is always spot on, staff are all lovelly, the tables are cleared & cleaned quickly!! Price is excellent!!!

Seen comments here the staff wasn’t friendly that’s rubbish there always nice and it’s a cafe not a social club! In out and a massive breakfast for £4.50 which is always fresh hot and not greasy everything cooked properly and there always consistent I’ve also had the homemade lasagne and beef and chicken dinners in there and they was all very good 100% the best cafe in boro hands down and that’s the reason it’s also the busiest! The fact it’s always packed tells you enough !

I've been going to Grubbs for years! Lately the staff are very old and abrupt they became stressed with you when you ask for something particular I.e hard egg, light bacon anything like that they huff and puff and don't mention there face when you say your sitting upstairs they moan the have to walk up them! Carol & Stu invest in some younger staff who can walk up and down stairs easy and are able to smile at customers not snap!!!! Food has gone down hill aswell

Will never enter this establishment again!! Rotten service and very average food!! Messy food on the floor and my cup of tea had old tea stains in the cup

I've try 2 meals one being the breakfast with tea and toast it was ok but could of been better. It's ok for cheapness won't be going again.

Skip the hotel breakfast if at the Travelodge as just a few minutes walk away opposite the bus station is this cafe. Great value, great staff.

Very good location near the bus station in Middlesbrough. I had a large breakfast which was very nice. I was in and out within half hour. Will come again.

This place is always busy. It provides decent food at very reasonable prices. They are always quick and efficient. I have the breakfast there very time I visit Middlesbrough. Would recommend.

If you want great breakfast with great service then please try this cafe, it looks very popular with the locals, which is a good thing.

Y otro miembro del personal constantemente números mesa gritaron cuando la comida estaba lista mientras yo estaba tratando de comer mi almuerzo. En un momento ella gritó en la parte superior de su pulmones para que todo el mundo 'escuchar'. No lo que quiero escuchar cuando estoy en mi dinero una cuchara grasienta. Horrible lugar

Best breakfasts in boro and at such a good price too. Polished off a greedy mans breakfast in and took a standard breakfast to work so glad it does take outs.

Went there for a Full English breakfast after meeting on one of the offices on high street

Mi esposa y yo nos alojamos en middlesbrough para cinco días en septiembre. Visitamos varias veces para el desayuno, que era increíble. El servicio era estupendo y la señora que regentaba el lugar estamos en creíble. Gracias por memorables desayunos para nunca olvidarla. Keith.

Venga aquí si tienes una resaca. Pedimos el desayuno con patatas fritas y aunque hacía un poco de frío le dieron gran parte de su dinero. Muy buen café.

This is a cafe serving good cafe food, it can get very busy but they always find you a place, Breakfasts are good and very reasonably priced. this is a marmite kind of place, the locals go in so do not expect any chat about whats currently on at the royal opera house, or how the government's current foreign policy impacts on our day to day life, but you do get a laugh

Fuimos el domingo por la mañana para desayunar en la recomendación de un amigo. El lugar es muy limpio y el personal era lo suficientemente agradable. Pedimos el desayuno, que era un poco decepcionante. La comida cocinada simplemente mala calidad, pequeño insípido salchichas, beicon y champiñones empapadas. ácidos grasos Las judías eran bonitas. El lugar parece agradable sólo necesitan comida de mejor calidad.

La comida estaba bien pequeñas porciones podría ser mejor, pero el personal era tan grosero no por favor o gracias no Mutter una palabra no vamos a volver al cliente el servicio era pobre

Lumpy Mash.Tinned Carrots .One of the staffs Daughter was in with 3 poorly behaved kids.The mother of the kids shouting .Never going again .

This is my favourite cafe ever. I've lived in London for the past 3 years but every time I come home to visit I always make time to go here.

Greedymans breakfast is my favourite..massive platter, lovely!Doesnt take too long to get served and is much better value and quality than a lot of supposedly upmarket places Ive been to, coffee and tea are nice as well

The best cheese omelette i have tasted. The place is always clean and the staff are very helpful. They also have pamo and chips which is a boro treat.

you can get a loverly breakfast all day here for only £3.50,or a gut buster,which is huge,for a small café the choice is great,with specials on Sundays,it does get a bit full at lunch time but you,ll find somewhere to sit,the staff are very friendly,overall a very nice place to eat,the Christmas meal is enormous!!!!!!

Great staff, lovely food cooked quickly to order - it's meant to be a greasy spoon type cafe but there's nothing greasy about Grubbs - the staff chat with you and make sure your order is how you requested it

I honestly couldn’t believe it when I couldn’t find Grubbs Diner on here. Genuinely couldn’t believe that one of the busiest little places in town hadn’t been added yet. Let’s put that right, shall we?If you aren’t familiar with it, Grubbs is a small, no-frills, what you see it what you get café in the heart of Middlesbrough, just opposite the bus station. It’s what you might at first glance think is a stereotypical greasy-spoon, but it really isn’t,Grubbs opens obscenely early and stays open through the day; it’s always busy and the variety of folk through the door is great for people-watching. The food does, of course, include the usual diner offerings, so if it’s a full-English you want, or a bacon buttie, then you’re in luck, because they’re not only on the menu, but they’re also really, genuinely good. They do a cracking cup of tea to wash it all down with too.Don’t fancy an all-day brekkie? That’s no problem either, because there’s lots of other stuff to choose from too. If you’re looking for haute-cuisine, then you’re clearly in the wrong place, but if you’d like to choose from a good range of sandwiches, café/pub staples (I’m thinking things like pie, peas and chips, gammon and egg or the ubiquitous parmo here) or, shock horror, even a salad, then knock yourself out. Food is cooked to order, doesn’t take an age and tastes fab; even her indoors has taken a shine to the place and is rather partial to a window seat and watching the world go by. There’s also outdoor seating too, so if it’s a nice day and you fancy some air, so much the better.The place itself has always been clean when I’ve been there, including the toilets upstairs, and the staff friendly and accommodating. The only issue? Maybe that it can be quite busy and full of hustle and bustle, but that makes it more interesting, surely?!?So, to sum up, if you fancy some posh nosh, you probably should be heading over to the Brasserie at Hudson Quay, but if you’re in the town and after a sit down and a proper breakfast, or something tasty for lunch, or even just a damned decent cup of tea for an obscenely reasonable price, this is a great place to be; people-watching optional.
