A surprisingly good Sunday lunch. Great flavours and well presented food, never over busy as they don’t overbook to keep the kitchen able to cope. You will need to book and the phones are not answered before midday.

This is our ‘go to’ place for family meals, we eat here about once a month. There is a wide choice of menu and the food is very good. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who have accommodated our requests to bring out our celebration cakes on several occasions and they have been very helpful and friendly.

Nice atmosphere, good service, good menu. Sunday lunch good if a little pricey. Lovely outdoor space. Not very family friendly.

Lovely ambience both inside and out. Friendly staff and great lunch choice. Opted for duck breast with parsnip/ puree and short rib, followed by brown sugar tart with rhubarb compote. Dietary options discussed and met. Can definitely recommend.

Nice enough food and good service. Watch the prices on some items, like bread costing the same as a prawn starter and the wines are expensive. Biggest problem is the noise. No soft furnishings in the restaurant so, when full, the sound rattles around and you have to shout at each other to be heard.

I arranged a meal for my mums 70th at the Plumtree Griffin for 8 adults l, 4 kids with 2 dogs. We were booked in. All good so far. Unfortunately, we received a call 2 days later to say we were unable to use the table that was chosen for us as this was situated in a room which only allowed for 10 seated. This was for health and safety reasons. We were then told we could be moved into the restaurant instead but would be unable to bring the dogs as they are not allowed in the restaurant. Unfortunately, this was not possible as we had chosen this venue as it was on our route home, and we were not willing to leave the dogs in a potentially hot car. I understand mistakes are made, but the service after leaves much to be desired.

Both service and food are exceptional! There really nothing more to add, other than the cost is more than acceptable! If you live within 25 miles of this restaurant you would be foolish not to visit and be satisfied you made a worthwhile journey!

We’d heard some really good comments from others we know who have eaten at The Griffin so decided to give it a try. So glad we did as everything about the place was first class. The food was delicious, the service really friendly and the ambiance was really good. It wasn’t overpriced either. Looking forward to eating there again in the near future.

We called in @18.00 yesterday after a very frantic day and an unexpected trip to Nottingham. Very welcoming and seated us in the Restaurant immediately. Menu was extensive and the Set Menu very good as well. All our needs were dealt with promptly, food was excellent, plates were warm! All in all a very good experience. Very near the main road, but quieter. We will be back.

Masterchef food without the exhorbitant prices that go with it. Service faultless and portions of a size that leaves room for three courses. This isn't a pub, its a restaurant with a bar. There's a difference. Don't come here if you want plates piled high with overcooked meat and soggy veg. Go to a chain pub! Will be back!

Just about the best Sunday lunch we have ever had at any restaurant in this country, quite superb. The roast belly pork and the slow roast rump of lamb were both very tender and tasty. Great roasties and, in response to an earlier review, the gravy tasted like it was made in the pan and not out of a jar. Plenty of it too. Excellent starters and a brownie with cherry ice cream to finish was delicious. A nice Chilean merlot was reasonably priced and the service was faultless. Well done The Griffin.

It was ok. Lack of children’s menu which was very strange. Some food excellent, but some dry and overcooked. Service was very good though and the dining room area a lovely space. All in all just “ok”.

We came for Sunday lunch after eating here before on a Saturday lunchtime which we loved. We both had the roast sirloin of beef, which was delicious, very tender and pink - just how we like it. The cauliflower cheese was delicious even if a tad hard ( a few more mins cooking needed as it was almost raw) the other veg was also delicious. The only real downside for us was the gravy. It was a red colour as if it had tomatoes in it and had quite a tang to it. What happened to good old brown gravy? That was the only letdown for us.. The staff were lovely and very courteous.

We were a party of 8 for lunch and had our own private room. There are a wide range of seating options otherwise. Service from the 4 staff we dealt with could not have been more courteous. The food was excellent and well above pub quality as was the beer. Shipstone's to die for. Previous reviewer clearly has a chip on their shoulder, as if I correctly identify the individual referred to he could not have been more helpful and courteous. Very highly recommend.

Although the food was nice it took far too long too arrive. Bar manager (bold ginger bloke) has the personality of a wet fish. Waitress looked like she’s just left prisoner Cell Block H. Overall an unpleasant atmosphere for a quiet country pub. Very disappointing.

A fantastic find, off the beaten track. Someone has put a lot of care and thought into refurbishing this quintessential English pub, and has had the nouse to equip it with the staff and grace befitting a slot on your "places worthy of visiting regularly" list. Quality foods, and good rotation of menus reflects the calibre of a good chef, accompanied with excellent service with genuine care, grateful for your patronage.

I took my family for a post Christmas dinner on the 29th December. We were six adults and three children. The children menu had good choices, the adults too. We had two courses each, the starters were small but beautifully presented and tasted great, my son had the baked celeriac with Jerusalem artichokes purée, my daughter had the pork belly with scallops and my son in law the mushroom risotto, all were impressed with their choices. For mains we had , Hake with mussels and bouillabaisse sauce, Braised beef cheeks, Chicken and bacon pie and vegan mushroom and chestnut Wellingtons, all beautiful presented and cooked to perfection. Desserts did not disappoint either, Christmas sticky toffee pudding, passion fruit crémeux and ice cream for the children. Drinks were expensive but good. The service was friendly and they made sure the children got their food at the same time as the adults starters, Not a cheap meal out but we all enjoyed our food and experience.

Booked in for Sunday lunch, bar and waiting staff were amazing and really friendly. Tasteful decor and loads of sofas to get comfy on for pre-dinner drinks. Food was fantastic which was exactly what we needed when the weather was so awful! Would definitely recommend a visit x

We received a warm welcome on arrival. The lunch menu choice was very inviting. When the food arrived it was very well presented enough to get your taste buds crying out for the very tasteful flavours. The presentation also entices your senses. My friend and I look forward to our planned returns. I would like to thank all the team for the combined efforts.

Singularly unimpressed! Definitely NOT worth the price. Our Sunday lunch worked out at over £40 each and frankly we have had much better for under £25 in many local eateries. Our starters were definitely on the skimpy side. The lamb was over cooked and served with a sauce!gravy which was quite acidic. The roast veg and Yorkshire pudding were well cooked but the other veg was a mush mash and quire ordinary. The desserts were adequate but like the drinks over priced.

From the moment you walk in to the bar, it is cosy, comfortable , so welcoming. Beautiful setting in the bar area , the dining room bright and family friendly. All staff were very pleasant, well presented and with a genuine friendly smile. The ford was certainly not a disappointment. Prawn salad was just that, very good size. The Pate was excellent. The Pies with potatoes, veg and nice gravy. Everything perfect for our 47th wedding anniversary celebration. To finish the night with hot Latte in comfortable seating area in the bar with a roaring fire. Perfect in every way. We will certainly return again.

Lovely setting (main dining area is noisy but added to the atmosphere) we went for Sunday lunch and it was delicious! My son is coeliac and they also catered well for his needs (we did take our own yorkshires) but they were very accommodating! Would definitely recommend the roast dinners and will be going back!

We booked for lunch on a very hot day and sat inside although there was a lovely terrace with umbrellas too. Although we are local, we hadn't visited before. The place had been very tastefully renovated. The menu wasn't your usual pub grub and so the prices of the food reflected this. The menu was on the internet so I had seen it before booking. My cod dish was very unusual and my husbands risotto even had a courgette with a stuffed flower. It's so very nice to have something different. Our only gripe was the intrusive music which wasn't background music and too thumpy for a restaurant that wasn't full enough of people to cover the beats. They were unable to reduce the volume when asked. Our favourite restaurant is only just up the road from The Griffin but we will probably be back to try something else when they've changed the menu.

Fabulous Sunday lunch, little pricey with food and drinks combined, but well worth it for the quality of the food and attentiveness of the staff and the surroundings. Great that there was gluten free gravy still hard pressed to find an establishment that has gluten free yorkshire puds an essential with roast beef.

Wow... My first visit here and will certainly will not be my last especially as we are only a 20 minute walk away. We booked in for Sunday lunch and the whole experience was a wonderful one, from the moment we walked through the door. We were welcomed by a lovely young man behind the bar who asked how our day was going. I had the Roast Pork Belly which just melts in your mouth and my partner had the vegetarian option and she absolutely loved it. The staff are a real asset and I can honestly say I can't wait for our next visit.

Three of us visited mid-week without a reservation for a birthday lunch. The dining room is fabulous - plenty of well spaced tables and great furnishings. Lovely friendly staff and a regularly changing menu. Some standard dishes and a few more unusual options. Several vegetarian choices. The quality and presentation of the food is excellent. The desserts in particular were superb - I highly recommend the chocolate bar! A really enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.

Went to copper today with my friend for lunch! We both had babies both in pushchair s we was told we wasn’t allowed to have them inside unless we folded them up which I found bizarre considering our babies are only a few months old! So not a good start! We both ordered omelettes that were tasteless!! Giving the food wasn’t even good the bill was very expensive! In future I will go else where! Somewhere a bit more child friendly & food with some taste.

Me and my wife came in for a lovely meal and drinks Was made to feel very welcome by a young man, I believe his name was Pete. Seemed very knowledgeable about the vegetarian options on the menu as my wife doesn't eat meat. Beer seems well looked after. Some of the best service by Pete And just a lovely pub Will definitely be back

The Botanist run a parent and baby session every Tuesday from 10.30-12.30pm which my wife has been attending with my daughter since she was 4months old (now a year old!). They put out a wide selection of toys and books which little ones can enjoy, and mum enjoys a drink and a pastry all for the friendly price of £4.50. The staff are friendly and you get to meet other local (and further a field) parents, some whose children will be attending the same nursery and/or school as my daughter. It’s a great and unique facility in West Bridgford and comes highly recommended.
