Griffin Inn in Halton

It's Chef & Brewer, you've been to one you've been to them all. I must say though that this was one of the better ones, the food was average although still enjoyable. I would probably return simply because there is nowhere better in the area.

Went for lunch with the family - hadn’t booked but was made really welcome none the less. Staff were so friendly and the food was fabulous! Prices are really reasonable so I would recommend anyone to visit and see for yourself.

Fantastic lunchtime break spent here on Wednesday. Siobhan and the team were very accomodating and I felt very well looked after! Fish pie was delicious!!

Food was nice but service was alittle slow especially drinks,drinks were ok just took quite long to arrive staff were nice.

Visited Saturday night. Unfortunately our meals were not up to standard the first time. After speaking with the Manager we were given fresh meals which were very good. Manager could not have been more accommodating and pleasant to us and did everything he could to make things right. A really professional and personable young man.

Came for dinner last week with family. Food was amazing and staff were lovely, would highly recommend the steak sandwich. Will be returning thanks guys!

we have just visited The Griffin this evening, I've not been for a couple of years to be honest but I will definitely be visiting again the food was fabulous best meal out I've had in forever I had the pork belly an raspberry and white chocolate tart the service was excellent we was served by Leo and Dek, everywhere was spotless except for a bit of bird poop on the outside picnic tables on the grass .. wouldn't hesitate in returning . we'll done The Griffin 👏 outstanding

Great for lunch especially the lunch menu. Nice atmosphere for a get together and plenty parking space. Very pleasant staff.

Had the sea bass and mixed grill and they were delicious, cooked to perfection, will definitely have it again but will mash or chips. Compliment to the chef's. The staff were friendly and helpful as always, lovely atmosphere dog friendly definitely recommend booking a table as it gets busy.

The family went out 16 of us !-to celebrate a birthday. Sioban andthe team looked after us! It was absolutely brilliant. One of our party had allergies and nothing was too much trouble. Things were checked and double checked. Siobhan was deffo the jewel in the crown. I think she looked after us on another large family meal a couple of years ago. Whatever- the Griffin are lucky to have her. Thank you so much for a lovely evening!

Came here today with my hubby and kids and from walking in the door to leaving this is the best chef and brewer pub we have been to Dave who greeted us and served us was lovely and so cheerful not like some pubs we’ve been to and so helpful with anything we needed and the lady behind the bar Julie was so nice and never stopped, such a lovely atmosphere and will definitely be back thank you so much x

We stopped in this pub after a walk. We had previously been regularly but stopped due to increasingly poor service. Unfortunately today was no different. When we entered we were greeted with an unfriendly, ‘It’s table service only.’ To be fair when we sat we were able to order quite quickly but the wait for drinks to be delivered was far too long. We didn’t see another server again. We asked at the bar to be served but no one showed and we were again told ‘it’s table service only.’ Unfortunately again, a local person was able to be served at the bar. This process seems unholy unnecessary. There is obviously not the staff for this to work or the want for it to work.

Was greeted by Dec, who welcomed us and checked what table we were on. Sheila shown us to our table and gave us our menu's to choose from, Hussein took our order , and Sheila, Hussein, and a young lady brought us our order, checked everything was ok and took our other orders, also greeted by Leo. All staff were very friendly and welcoming and accommodating to our needs. Food was beautiful, compliments to the chefs too. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, drinks and the hospitality. Thankyou Griffin team.

We visit often, usually after a walk with our dog. Very dog friendly. Good food, including decent vegan choice. Staff are always lovely, looked after by Leonardo today who is so welcoming.

Went in for drinks and was convinced to order some of the Griffins favourite dishes.. We had some cottage pie croquettes, cod and chips with some mushy peas and some of the Bakewell tart.. We were served by Leonardo and Dec who are absolute credits to the team and were very welcoming to us as soon as we walked in… Thankyou for a fantastic night full of laughs and drinks.. See you all again soon!

Great food great atmosphere and cannot fault the selection of tasty treats ,great service from the waiters and waitresses

My husband ordered fish & chips with mushy peas. He was literally served no more than 6 peas in a little side dish. I ordered steak and ale pie. The pie was shocking! Should have been called a gravy pie as there was only one piece of steak in it. The broccoli & carrots had been microwaved within an inch of their lives and were rock hard and totally inedible. Completely unacceptable as there were no more than 4 tables occupied in the pub. Expensive, overrated and extremely poor quality food. Don’t get me started on the service! Well below par on every level and will never visit again. Have given it the benefit of the doubt on our previous 2 visits after this being our go-to pub in the area but this final visit sealed its fate. Don’t waste your money.

Arrived for lunch, we hadn’t booked. Asked for a booth but they were all full, however, we were given a lovely table on the left as you go in. We were served by Dec and Julie was on the bar. The food was amazing and the pub is great if you have a dog. The staff were great they were very dog friendly. If you don’t have a dog I would still highly recommend it

Had a lovely meal pork belly and it was cooked lovely. Husband had burger and was very impressed. The service was very friendly a lovely boy Leo greeted us and we were served by Emily and Sheila. I would recomend here as it is very well run and a happy team makes all the difference

We’ve been coming to this pub for year and have recently moved back into the area which means it’s now our local! Hussein was our waiter and he has looked after us a few times - he always remembers us and is always so attentive! He cracks us up with his stories and jokes and always makes sure we’re happy.

Food lovely. Best part was the outstanding service from Hussein. A real personal touch, the Griffin are very lucky to have him represent them.

We were greeted with incredibly friendly staff and taken straight to our table. Our drinks and food order were promptly taken by Hussein and we didn't have to wait long for either. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very relaxing.

Been here before and it has been okay. Tonight was very disappointing. My tea bone steak was mostly cold and gristle. The chips were cold and the rocket salad with whatever was thrown over it was limp and uninviting. The steak was char grilled but tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned for a while. Ordered peppercorn sauce but didn't get it. Got it taken off the bill though. Ordered a lager shandy got lager couldn't be bothered querying that. Very poor indeed won't be back shame

This establishment has a vibe of ethereal splendor. Dave was able to expertly multitask switching roles with a seamless transition, executed to fruition, all with a smile on his face. Thank you for your pragmatic approach for serving me the lunch menu at 4pm, a personable approach which has ensured a sustained impact (we are planning to returning again tonight!). My colleague was so impressed with the mushroom and ale pie; she has been dreaming about it all day today and insisted we all return. Shout out to Dec who oozed emotional intelligence and negotiated our swift exit so we could set up for our Shrek the musical. Shrek- tacular place!

Sorry to report it is hit and miss if you receive a good meal anymore . We have always given five stars, but our recent experiences are as follows :- November 2023. Fantastic birthday celebration for my daughter, there were sixteen of us, nothing was pre ordered. The meals all arrived together, perfectly cooked, fantastic staff, a great night. December 2023. There were five of us a family meal out, the food was disgusting, anything fried was within an inch of its life, but fantastic front of house staff. February 2024. There were five of us again a birthday family meal, the food was excellent, the staff are amazing, great night out. The reason I am reporting the above, is we know of others that have had similar experiences. The problem is who is in charge of the kitchen and able cooking everything to perfection. I hope my constructive comments help other trip advisors and the more importantly the management of the Griffin Inn. I would respectfully suggest that if you are not able to provide an experienced cook in the kitchen, do not take any bookings for food on that day.

Went for Sunday roast five of us, was recommended. We all had roast dinner which came with frozen potatoes and frozen veg over priced meal, won’t be going again.

We came for a quiet meal with a lovely atmosphere and the Griffin Inn had everything we needed, the staff was friendly and polite, the food was fresh and hot on arrival. We will definitely be coming back for a meal and a few drinks.

The sunday roast was very poor for the price charged. Very hard over cooked potatoes deep fried (awful) hard over cooked peas, very thin meat from a packet. Great dissapointment.
