Greyfisher in Wiltshire

The two stars are purely for the friendly staff. Unfortunately, the food really let the experience down. We both ordered steak, which turned out to be tough and completely lacking in flavour. It was served on a bed of onions that looked and tasted like they’d been boiled rather than cooked properly—pale, with no colour or warmth to them. The tomato on the side looked past its best and the peas were yellow. The chips were disappointing too, full of black knots and just not appealing. Overall, I wouldn’t return, as the quality of the food was poor.

We randomly stopped here for dinner on our way home to Sussex. Staff were friendly, the food was tasty, and the prices were reasonable - what more could you ask for?

Very nice place to eat with honoust prices and a huge variety in choices. I came here now several times and every time vety friendly staff and a full plate of good food.

We booked a table for a family birthday celebration on the 10th March. There was 14 of us all together, the food was lovely and hot, it all came out at the same time even though there was so many of us. I have to say the staff were brilliant, they couldn't do enough for us. We had a great evening 😊. We have had some really really poor experiences here in the past but now I can't recommend it enough. Thanks guys for making it a special evening, I hope we weren't too rowdy 🤣🤣

Meals were great and something different. Service was fantastic.

The service here was brilliant. Really helpful friendly bar man. My partner had the pie and said it was amazing. I had the mixed grill where all the meat was on a bed of onions (which isn’t described on the menu !!) so all the meat was tainted with onion. It was all cooked well and all the rest was ok.

Went in here spontaneously on 11/03/25 as I was looking for somewhere to eat and I have to say it was a good meal and good value for money. I’d definitely comeback next time I’m in the area

Worst place I have been to. The food was inedible and not cooked properly. Had a beef flatbread, beef very under done and chewy, could not eat and the flat bread microwaved and not pleasant left this also after one bite of it. one piece of lettuce leaf disguised with a topping. Did not represent anything like the picture. Dont waste your money eating here, there are nicer places in Salisbury

Came here for a spot of lunch. They had a meal deal on for 2 mains for £13.49. The all-day breakfast was delicious and my parent enjoyed the gammon too. Friendly staff and dog friendly which is always a bonus for next time.

Went for a meal last night. It took a long time for anyone to notice or acknowledge arrival and be seated. I ordered a chicken burger and it was very nice, although chips were almost cold. My husband ordered sirloin steak. First steak was very grisly so he sent it back. The next was not a lot better. Very unimpressed unfortunately.

Went for a Birthday meal yesterday. 11 of us, all meals were tasty hot and a good portion. All meals served at the same time.

Popped into the Greyfisher to meet a friend of mine for a quick catch up and to share a bottle of wine. A lady called Jaz served me and was really knowledgeable on the wines that the pub had for sale. Wanted for nothing as Jaz was so attentive, a credit to the pub. Lovely lady.

Sean behind the bar gave me top class service when we were there on Friday night Jamie the new manager was attentive to us and all the people that were in our area the food i had was good for the money and it was a treat for me as they had strongbow cider in the bar the only downside was no ice as the machine was broken and had been for 3 weeks as we were told

Our favourite place to go for a cheap meal, they've got a buy one get one free deal at the moment that's ridiculously good, 2 steaks for about £10 cant complain about that, building is a little tired and good do with some spruce up but couldn't fault the staff or food

Whilst I understand that there are lots of rules around allergies, and how important it is to follow these. I phoned to seek advicr about what i would be able to eat thisevening due to my own struggles with eating. there is 13 of us going for a meal this evening and i have been calling all week with no answer on the phone lines. The gentleman on the phone was extremely polite. However, outlined that they do not offer a gluten-free menu for allergens. It is more for people with a lifestyle choice, as they cannot guarantee no cross contaminations with anything. I asked if a jacket potato was cheese and bacon is something they would be able to produce gluten free and again, he just said, we only can advertise that for people that choose it as an lifestyle choice due to the preparation they do not have a separate area. I asked if new packaging could be opened and he said, unfortunately not, I asked if I was able to bring my own jacket potato with cheese and bacon, he very kindly went off and spoke to the deputy manager that was on today, who said that unfortunately, because it would then pose a risk. Food being brought in, they were not able to support this even if it was all still fully sealed , meaning i will have to sit there and not eating anything while everyone has there meals. Being a birthday meal for others, I will of course still go along and sit. the thing that I find extremely tricky is they are taking their own birthday cake this evening. Whilst this is not a review of me being there and of the property, it's a review of how they are not able to support allergies, which is highly disappointing.

Grey fisher is a great family place. Seating for summer outside. TV sports, Poole table, great choice of food. Ample parking

Staff where lovely and explained what they did not have in stock or what was broken. Staff also informed us that there was going to be about 1 hour delay as a chef didn't turn up and they where running around with one less staff member.

Amazing good food warm welcoming staff the beef rib is fantastic I order it every time and I swear it’s fantastic every time I wish I could cook the beef rib like they do!

Very welcoming lovely staff,very clean and tidy and everyone is efficient. Brilliant value for money and the food is gorgeous. I work with people with learning disabilities and we decided to go there one day and now we go once a week and the guys absolutely love it. The staff are amazing and they look after us all really well. I’d highly recommend giving it a whirl.

What an absolute breath of fresh air. Just an easy pub, no airs and graces. Public bar with stuff for the younger generations to enoy. Then a big comfortable lounge/eatery. The food was delicious, freshly cooked, hot and served on a skillet which kept it hot and excellent value for money. Plenty of parking.

.. with the long awaited ‘new manager’. He should be reminded he is a Manager of an hospitality pub. He appears to be out of his depth, allowing the staff to do their usual excellent job of engaging with customers and serving good food and keeping tables cleared and.. cleaned. If you don’t want to meet him.. go in the evening . He doesn’t come out at night! However I blame Green King. Took a long time to..put a round peg in a square hole

Called in for an early lunch on the way home from the hospital and was pleasantly surprised . We ordered from the specials menu, 2 mains for £13 or £14, and I was expecting two tiny meals but they weren't small at all. The hunter's chicken was both filling and tasty, and the all day breakfast looked good and went down well. Would definitely call in again for lunch. Good value, lots to choose from and nice friendly staff.

Absolutely lovely food here, great quality and cooked perfectly every single time, they are consistently really good. Lovely staff and really clean tables and chairs etc.

We have been to the Greyfisher a few times over the last few months and found it has changed for the better. I found the staff very helpful and the food 🥑 one hundred percent improved so very well done to management and staff.

Visited yesterday evening with my other half and little girl. Ordered a kids meal for my little girl and a sharer plate for both of us. The bar man went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even asked if my little girl would like an ice cream. We had the best time and we will be back, sorry I couldn’t catch his name but it was a brilliant experience. Thank you so much, Dom.

Food cheap and cheerful, screaming kid, friendly staff, bit grubby round the edges, but you get what you pay for.

It has been years since we ate hear due to the old reputation but today me and my family all had nothing but good words for our food and especially the staff it is well worth calling in and we will be back very soon thank you guys

Staff were very friendly and the food was excellent arrived at the table very quick and was all hot and cooked perfectly. It was my mum’s birthday and she totally enjoyed herself drinks were quite cheap as was the food. The toilets were very clean and presentable would definitely recommend a visit.

Friendly staff and great cocktails deal on Friday night. Came here with friends and had a great time! Also found out it’s dog-friendly so will definitely return with the pooch!

Deleted my 5 star review and replaced with this 2 star. A sign tonight at the front door saying “under new management”. Half the menu was out of stock ! Nearly everything we ordered as a table of 6 was either out of stock or partially out of stock? The worst experience we have had and we visit every week without fail for the past few years.

The beef flatbread my wife had didn't match the picture on the menu, tomatoes were missing from the plate, it just had lettuce and a dressing along with the beef. She didn't notice straight away otherwise would have mentioned it. My mixed grill was good value for money, and tasted very pleasant indeed.

Wow I met the new manager today, this guy is really switched on the place looks and feels different already he has brought a new energy of enthusiasm to the staff. The food even tasted better he has already turned some frowns upside down. We were just snacking so we eat mainly starters as snacks (Oh boy Carolina Reaper Boneless Wings) whilst we had an impromptu work meeting. I'll be coming back and I'll be bringing some friends with me.

After a wander around town, we came back to the Greyfisher and had a bite to eat. My son is a very fussy eater, but found the chicken strips to be delicious. I had a beyond meat burger and it was perfect, having built up an appetite during our walk! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will be back again soon!

Came a week or so ago they had a power cut not their fault went back today wish i hadnt food was disgusting 🤢🤢 wont be coming back

By far the best thing about our visit was the lovely service we had from a smiley and helpful Millie. She went out of her way to make our visit a pleasant one. One of our meals, the fish and chips, did not live up to expectation. The batter was soggy and the fish was tasteless. On the other hand, the gammon meal was excellent. The two meals deal offers exceptional value.

Came here for a quick business lunch after a recommendation from a friend. I ordered a gammon and egg. Food came out quick and hot! Staff was attentive and went above and beyond. Thank you guys and we will be back soon

A nice Green king pub offering excellent VFM on the meal deals. The staff were friendly and attentive, and ensured all was right. A venue I will visit again.

I ordered a mixed grill sadly no onion rings , when it arrived , the chips and peas were cold , the chicken on the hot plate was cold . My wife had a burger and again the chips were cold , we were offered a full refund but as we had eaten some of it decided to have a free dessert instead , I wanted an apple pie ,but that was sold out , so I had ice-cream My Wife had chocolate sundae ,which was ok . all in all not a good meal , will be going straight pass next time and finding else-where to eat

Didn’t even stop for food. It took ages for us to be seated. The table was sticky so was the floor and the bar. There was sauce on the menus. It’s also not wheel chair friendly the tables are too close together and very cramped. We were also harassed by another customer who made us feel very uncomfortable

Unfortunately the food was sub-par, the gravy was clearly microwaved with a skin film over the top, chips were undercooked and cold, price was OK, bur standard of food was not acceptable, won't be eating here again.

Stopped off too watch the Euros football. The coffee unfortunely was pretty poor.

We were invited back to the Greyfisher for a meal under the new management as the last time we visited (prior to their arrival), we were hugely disappointed. This time however, we were chuffed with our experience overall. The food was absolutely delicious; both the taste and quality were improved ten fold as was the presentation. We were pleased to see the place was far busier than our last visit but despite this, the service was excellent and efficient. We will gladly be returning! (Will be sure to take photos next time)

The Greyfisher sits in a beautiful area of Salisbury however it does back on to a busy road. Ample parking and plenty of room to sit inside and out. A great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is decent and a good temperature. A good selection of drinks and plenty of entertainment.

Called in on 7/6/24 for lunch absolutely disgusting my wife had the Lasagne which looked like it had been NUKED in a microwave and was completely inedible l had the large Mixed grill which looks extremely good value on paper but alas it was not the peas were as hard as bullets and tasted awful as for the steak it would have made a wonderful sole for someone’s shoe our advice is avoid like the PLAGUE

When I first visited the Greyfisher I found my steak was chewy although it was cooked perfectly. Too many onions. Chips were cold and peas were hard. Young lady who served me was very polite and pleasant. Took a chance and visited a second time but sadly was again very disappointed with the food. Had the mixed grill with 15 chips. Beef was chewy, gammon was very salty and chicken was tasteless. Sausage was rock hard and peas were cold. Again far too many onions. Sorry but I won't be eating here again. And for a pub that advertises "Sunday Roasts Served All Day" it should get it's stock control correct. We visited around 3pm and there were NO roast dinners left. Sticky tables and menus.
